I'm thinking about selling my stock THD with lifetime and picking up another lifetime Premiere. I haven't really been following what the THD's go for on eBay. Do you guys think I should make the trade, and how much will the whole transaction set me back?
I ave a series 3 TiVo unit. I have a Mac OSX with Lion, TiVo transfer software has been installed and I can see the Series 3 TiVo unit on the transfer software on the Mac.
I have a number of HD programs on the TiVo that I would like to move over to my Mac. TiVo transfer interface has red cycles in front of all the HD programs indicating I cannot download the program over to my computer.
I want to transfer those HD programs from the TiVo over to the Mac, how do I do this?
I have spent plenty of time searching this forum and google and I cannot find an answer to this problem.
In addition if I am able to download the HD program can I use the Aunsoft software to convert the TiVo HD video over to H264? I have found the Aunsoft program to be very good on program conversion over to h264 for non HD programs.
I am really not sure if this is the correct place for this post, but I wasnt sure of where exactly to put it. We have two tivo premieres. We have cable from our local cable company (small rural company). They promised cable cards, but have yet to deliver after about 9 months of waiting. We have been using the tivo without the cable card, which is fine except we cannot get any of the HD channels, like the sports channels my husband wants to watch. My question is what direction I need to go from here? Do I need to dump my cable company and get satellite (we had dish before but would probably go with Direct TV next)? Can I use the tivo's I already have with Direct TV if I swap? If not, do I need the direct tv-tivo or their regular dvr? I am really confused at this point!! Thanks for any suggestions you can send my way.
I have an original OLED series3. Have been experiencing a lot of problems this past month or so.
Screen freezes, then reboots, sometimes I have have GSOC green screen; when i click the remote, sometimes the sound echos 6-7 times, even though clicked once. The longer it stays plugged in, the more it will sponteously reboot.
I have new power supply and HD (from brand new, unused S3 I had). So it is not a capacitor, or hard drive problem.
I have posted this question elsewhere, but it has gone unanswered. I need someone who is learned and has worked on S3s to give me some advise in case these symptoms point to any specific problem (so please no scolding:eek: -)
If it is too far gone, do you think tivo might allow a (discounted) lifetime transfer to my other, unused S3?
Hello fellow TiVo users!
I have a hard decision to make and need your help. I've been a TiVo user and advocate for a long time so it's hard to think about saying goodbye.
My current Tivo is a basic Premier with an upgraded 2TB drive, with a $12.95/month plan.
As the thread title states, I'm considering dropping it for WOW's Ultra TV because of a few reasons I won't go into right now because of length.
Anyway, this all came about because we currently have WOW and wanted to switch to Time Warner because of a great promo plan and an Arabic channel for my mother-in-law while she is with us for the next few months. Well that promo plan fell through in the billing and TWC won't honor it. Since WOW retention gave us a better deal to stay, I'm considering that, but this is where the Ultra TV comes in.
It's based on the Moxi box, something I considered in the past, and will fully support the provider (ie, no cablecard which granted is the failure of the cable companies and the FCC.) Plus, we recently purchased a Roku 2 which will fill the void of Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. (Although everything in one box was nice)
Obviously, the 500GB is less than the 2TB I have, but I think we can cut down on the shows we store. I like the 6 tuners, not because we watch a lot, but because the few shows we like all fall in the same time slot.
Lastly, I considered a 4 Tuner Tivo, but another $350-$400 purchase where I'm not saving anything per month is hard to justify.
So, that's most everything. I'm looking for ideas or maybe support in my move to Ultra TV. Here is WOW's Ultra TV product page which is more commercialized than informative.
I actually watched this about two weeks ago, and if I don't post about it soon I'm going to totally forget about it.
What I find most interesting about this episode is how it portrays Klingons so differently from what we see in Star Trek VI. Of course, this is because STVI was released about 2 years later. But it's a little unfortunate that the Klingons that we see in STVI couldn't show up a little early--instead, we get the same two dimensional (for the most part) Klingons that have always been in the show.
That said, it was a pretty good episode. The weakest link, IMO, was Michael Dorn--his "dramatic" acting had a tinge of high school drama to it. But getting past that, it was an interesting political intrigue story, gave some background on Worf's character, and it gave Patrick Stewart yet another chance to shine.
While Discommendation now has more of an emotional impact with me, I will say that, when I first saw this episode in high school, I felt the ending was a major let down. All this buildup, and they just turn around?
Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) is the dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Widowed only a year, he is a man in psychic repair, hiding his pain behind a dry wit and a granite poker face.
With the help of Vic (Katee Sackhoff), a female deputy new to the department, and his close friend and confidant Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips), Longmire sets out to rebuild his life, one step, and one mystery, at a time.
"Longmire," a contemporary crime thriller set in Big Sky country, is based on the Walt Longmire Mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson.
"Longmire" series premiere June 3rd on A&E
I upgraded a TiVo Premiere XL to a 2TB drive (purchased with software already on it), but then had a perfectly good 1TB XL drive left over. I wondered if I could use the 1TB XL drive in a regular Premiere (without doing an image copy from the Premiere drive to the XL drive). I couldn't find a direct answer on the forums, but I knew there must be some difference in the images because upgrade drives are sold differently, depending on the model.
Well, I purchased a "45 hour" Premiere at a good price and decided to give it a try. Before I ever started up the new box, I put the original 1TB drive from the XL in it. It started up but indicated there was a hardware issue. It appeared that it wasn't going to work, but I persisted. I did a "clear and delete everything", a guided setup, and several "connect to TiVo service" to get the latest software downloaded. Somewhere in the process it recognized it was a Premiere and not an XL and downloaded the appropriate software. I'm not sure what the difference is beyond the TiVo introductory cartoon (the XL starts with a THX logo).
Anyway, it is now a fully functioning Premiere with 157 hours of HD recording capacity. The multi-room streaming between Premieres (the primary reason I wanted an additional Premiere) works great.
So if anyone out there has an original Premiere XL drive left over after a capacity upgrade and has thought about putting it into a Premiere, go ahead. It will work fine after you "clear and delete", do a guided setup, and download new software.
Now that was an episode of Mad Men! Perfectly paced, good ad stuff, funny dialog.
Saving the Heinz account at dinner was perfect. As was the whole Award dinner scenein the space of 2 minutes everyone's lifestyle and beliefs are shaken.
I loved the last exchange of the show... "How's the City?" "Dirty." SO perfect!
Also enjoyed meeting the in-laws & Roger in prime form (though the tryst with the French mom bothered me). Peggy's story is meh, but maybe it's that I just don't relate.
Why would the SPM show that a show should be recorded, but doesn't record it? DH. Was scheduled to record tonight but it didn't and even if I tried to manually record it the record light would not turn on!
There's still half an hour left, but just as every previous week, Dayana is so much more mature and professional than Lisa. If only Trump could see the footage we do. I fear this may be her final week, though.
So, still a potboiler. Nothing blew up and nobody went nuts, but I was totally engrossed the whole time. The show just runs so much better now than last year. It just really flows so much better.
Michelle Forbes just really kills it with her scenes. I did not realize how good an actress she is.
And, the killer still remains unknown. We all thought we knew who the killer was, but now I'm not so sure. The lens keeps passing between those involved, and each one seems guilty at some point, but then something shows up that suggests they're not. I'm betting this might be the way a real investigation might go - as you explore each suspect, you see how they could be guilty, but somehow the pieces don't quite fit.
More later. Nice episode.
Hate to say it, but I agree with Emma. That wasn't a very convincing argument on his part. But if she's not going to believe him, then she should find out how he knows what he does (blanket, etc). My guess is that her true love for Henry will make her break through the denial.
I will give myself a pat on the back for figuring out Pinocchio in the cabinet with the candlestick... I mean red hat. I did like the underhanded dealings by Geppetto with the Fairy, and the addition of that part of the backstory to what we already knew.
Interesting that Pinocchio left Emma, but I don't know how much protecting he could have done with that winner of a foster father.
Wow, that episode flew by. Nice symmetry with Renley's murder at the beginning by the shadow creature and the Tickler's murder at the end. Hard to believe the season is halfway done.
Anybody else watching this? Sometimes a bit over the top but I can't help myself. It's too funny.
Question for the Tivo-ainiacs?
I have two things I would like to achieve ...just wondering if there is a way I can do this
1.I would like to transfer Tivo recorded tv shows from my Tivo to my pc computer.
2.I would like to dump my phone land line, which is only there for the sole purpose of a connection of the tivo program guide for my Tivo.
I guess normally the best way would be hook both the PC and the Tivo to a router hooked to a cable modem.
Although, I do not have Cable or DSL coming into my home... I do have a couple router's in my computer stuff stash though.
I get online with my PC via tethering it to my cell phone.
My Tivo's units are a series 2 Toshiba TX120 and a Tivo series 3 HD.
Any help would be much appreciated.
What, no penalty for "taking" the FF then not using it? Doesn't that unfairly eliminate other teams from using it?
I couldn't care less now who wins...I was REALLY pulling for team KY...but win or lose, they certainly had more fun and one of the best attitudes of any team in the history of TAR.
I had the strangest thing happen to me the other day that I haven't read about before. I started watching a recording of this week's Awake and a couple minutes in the screen went garbly. That happens sometimes (isn't cable great?) but then I noticed that some of the not-Awake portions of the display were showing the NFL Draft show. So basically it appears that TiVo was recording multiple channels at the same time. It was then that I also noticed the time for the 1 hour show appeared as 7 hours in the description and progress bar. I could tell that Awake was still being recorded at the very end too so it must've just muxed everything together into one super-long recording. I thought this must've been a once-in-a-lifetime glitch so forgot about it, but then today I brought up an episode of Storage Wars and saw the same thing. The show duration was really long and I once again saw a different show throw the digital static.
I'm going to do a reboot of the TiVo and the TA later. Any other thoughts?
Has anyone been able to assign a static ip to the TIVO Wireless N Adapter.
I keep following the instructions but it won't stick. It keeps using hte DHCP given one and does not keep the static IP in the settings. Recyling it does nothing.
