I've been a fan of Dennis Leary's sarcastic humor ever since his comedy special "No Cure for Cancer". Finally got around to this series about NYC firefighters dealing with the personal and professional aftermath of 9/11. I love it, already through season 2. The show takes on some very serious themes with dark humor and there's some great drama, too. Highly recommended, especially if you're a fan.
For some reason, I am not able to set up a OnePass to record the tv series The Slap. I can record a single episode, with no problem. When I select to do a OnePass it takes me to an area like as if I did a search and shows it available on Hulu and maybe Amazon and asks if I want to watch it now. I've never had this happen with any other series. I've tried selecting it and setting a one pass from the guide every week, since the series started, so it seems to be an issue with that series. What could the problem be?
I have a Roamio OTA.
Had to unplug the box and now it won't power up at all, like totally dead, no lights, no fan. I assume I'm done for, but is this by chance a known thing with a solution?
Awhile back I had this problem where there were no suggestions showing in the what to watch now folders. There was a fix posted, but I can't find the thread where the fix was. It was a series of codes pressed on the remote that reset the data...Anyone know the code?
Great forum! I see there is a ton of info on this site. I have a TiVo HD that just had its hard drive fail. I bought a new Roamio Plus and dropped in a 3TB hard drive in it right from the start. I now have the original 1TB drive that came with the Roamio. Can I just slap that drive into my TiVo HD and expect it to work or will I have to do 'stuff' to get that old box up and running again?
Thanks in advance!
I want to switch to OTA too.
I have a TiVo HD. It keeps running out of space. It holds about forty five hours of HD video. If I can figure out the internet issue, will a regular Roamio good enough or do I need the big one?
Here's the internet issue. I have Comcast now, 25mbps. The only other option seems to be AT&T uVerse. All they have here is 3mbps. Should I even bother to switch?
Is anyone using the Tivo storage expansion feature on a Netgear WNDR4300 router with an attached USB external hard drive?
I'm having some problems getting this feature to be fully functional, and was wondering if anyone else had seen similar problems.
I currently have a Tivo Roamio Pro. I recently upgraded my router to the Netgear WNDR4300, and want to take advantage of its built-in Tivo compatible DLNA server to access shows stored on a USB external hard drive. I have a USB external hard drive onto which I had previously transferred shows from a Tivo using Tivo Desktop. I have connected the hard drive to the router's USB port and enabled the ReadyDLNA server and Tivo compatibility mode in the router. The hard drive shows up correctly in the router's admin web page, and my PC can see the hard drive (and all the files on it) through the network. The Tivo can see the router in 'My Shows' as a server named 'ReadyDLNA: WNDR4300'. But when I select the ReadyDLNA server, the list of shows it displays from the hard drive is incomplete - about 10-20% of the shows on the hard drive don't show up on the list on the Tivo.
I have verified that WNDR4300 has the latest firmware from Netgear. I copied several of the shows onto a different USB external hard drive and connected it to the router, and get the same results - the shows that were found on the 1st hard drive were also found on the 2nd hard drive, and the shows that were not found on the 1st hard drive were also not found on the 2nd hard drive. When I connect the USB hard drive to a PC running Tivo Desk top, the Tivo can see the PC just fine, and will display all the shows on the hard drive.
Many of the shows were originally transferred from a different Tivo onto the hard drive, and most (but not all) of these show up on the 'My Shows' when the hard drive is connected to the WNDR4300 router. However, shows that I have tranferred off my current Roamio do not show up when the hard disk is connected to the router (but they do show up when connected to the PC running Tivo Desktop).
My current version of Tivo Desktop is 2.8.3 (the free version, with patch installed). I don't know if it matters, but all the shows are in the same folder named 'Tivo' on the hard drive.
Anybody have any ideas on why the files for some shows can't be found by the WNDR4300 ReadyDLNA server?
Roamio and Mini scheduled to arrive today.. Would like to use MoCa between Roamio and Mini verses my Ethernet. Read on a Tivo Support page that MoCA signaling runs at 1.2Ghz and everything on my cable distribution setup is the standard 1Ghz equipment. I have a EDA 2800 8 port 1GZ amp feeding 7 drops that says its MoCA compatable. And all the spare splitters in my tool box are 1GZ . Should I plan on replacing my equipment, as I plan on expanding the Mini count in the future.. Read a lot of amps won't work w/MoCA, sure as heck want to avoid splitting one feed 8 ways w/o an amp.
While I've been waiting for the new android app to show up, my Nexus phone and tablet have gotten the android 5.1 update. I sure hope the new app will work on 5.1 (the old one seems to be OK, so with luck there won't be any problems).
Over the past month my Roamio Pro has become very slow. This happens primarily when going into a folder to view the list of episodes. In the past this loaded in about 2 or 3 seconds. Now you have to wait about 10 to 20 seconds at times to see the listed of recorded shows in a folder.
I've also had several issues where i would play back a show and just get a black screen. I would have to go back into the Tivo list and start the show again.
The last issue is most of the time I have to setup a One Pass from the Tivo website. It seems 75% of the time I get a spinning circle if I try to setup one from the Tivo itself. This has been happening for a few months.
I don't always have these issues, it's hit or miss. Once I start watching a program video and audio quality are perfect so I was hoping to rule out any issues with the hard drive.
Here are things I have looked at. In the now playing list hard drive is about 14% full. I do have Tivo Suggestions turned on and wondered if perhaps that is really filling up my drive and causing these sluggish moments?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
My friend has a Suddenlink TiVo and a couple of Minis he got through them. Can he use KMTTG to transfer shows to his computer? I don't know if there are any restrictions on the cable branded units.
Wasn't sure where this belonged, but with the new season coming, I figured I'd put it here.
So for those of you who have read the books and seen the series, which is better?
Full disclosure: I've seen the whole series, but only read the first book. I liked the book well enough, but I thought S1 was better than the book, so I'm figuring the same for the remainder of the series, but can't say for certain. I've generally liked books better than the TV/Movie adaptions (with Jaws perhaps the other exception).
I am planning on cutting the cord. The Roamio seems to be the only package unit out there. My only real issue is with reports of advertising. Can someone give an idea how intrusive it is and if it can be turned off?
2 Episodes? I didn't even notice that until the first one started. That's a great way to start Survivor Night!
So, lots going on last night. It was nice to see the return of the reward challenge and chickens are always fun to have back at camp. Nice job by Kelly getting smacked in the head by the platform and continuing on, even if her team did lose. She's a tough one. That blindfold challenge is always cringe inducing watching people run into those crotch-height barriers. And great job by Jenn using the time she wasn't eating chicken to look for and find the HII. I still like this girl, not sure why, and want her to go far in the game.
Rodney makes me crazy. That whole "women/higher standard" thing would make me want to drown him. I so so wanted it to be him instead of Lindsey, but I knew it wasn't to be. I'm going to want him gone every episode from now on.
And then the shuffle, what a disaster in terms of physical mismatch! Max is an idiot for not taking care of that foot before coming on the show. He's memorized every episode from every season, but he never learned how to play. Also, those "stingray" stings didn't look anything like what I'm used. I've seen people here stung by stingrays and they are seriously injured - like bleeding buckets, screaming in agony, and needing stitches injured. I don't know if he was "stung" (it's not really a stinger) by babies or just got lucky (which turned into unlucky for him) or what. In any event, gross dude.
And at TC, Max is gone, leaving Will all alone with 5 girls. That tribe better pray for lots of puzzles and balance challenges for the next few weeks.
Anyway, the game just got more interesting. I'm ready for the run-up to the real merge!

Just got the Amazon e-mail about the service change over. Not really bothered as I don't have more than a couple of purchased shows, but am tempted with a shiny new toy...
Currently I've got a HD XL from late 2008.
The Roamio has been out since August 2013, presumably a refresh is due this year? Not sure I want to buy one now if it's going to be replaced in 6 months. Anyone heard anything?
Apart from the usual glitches with the tuning adapter and the occasional need to reboot, the XL has been pretty good.
Hi there -
I have a folder, called a Group by Tivo, set up to record all of Francis Ford Copola's movies via Wish List. There is one that didn't land in the folder with the others - Rumble Fish. It's driving my OCD crazy to have Rumble Fish floating the pile of other recordings when all the other Coppola movies share a folder.
Can I manually or in some other way add Rumble Fish to the folder that has all the other Copolla films ?
I have a simple narrow request-- what do you recommend?
I want a one-time purchase (no subscription fees) of a piece of hardware which I can use with my HD antenna to do othe following:
Record HD TV received over the air for playback later.
St. Louis, MO
On 2/27 my Tivo Roamio Basic recorded 2 blank Cnet recordings. I click delete but they won't go away. Never had this problem in the 10 years I've had Tivo. I called Tivo Support and they asked me if I had the new software update. At the time I had it for around a week or so. He said, yep, that's a problem, just be glad that's all the problems you've had. Offered no help, just said they will go away eventually...it's been over 4 weeks now and I still can't delete them. Any ideas on how to get them to go away???
Interesting approach. Instead of the cheap, barebones service that Dish is going for with SlingTV, Sony is creating essentially another normal cable or satellite package with Plastation Vue. It even has somewhat of a DVR function ("recordings" can be kept for 28 days and commercials can be fast forward).
No one is going to save any money with this, but when it launches the idea of only choosing between cable and satellite will be gone. Internet TV will be a legit third option. I will be glad when this is in my back pocket for my next fight with TWC.
I wonder what Apple will do. I cannot see there being three long term viable internet TV providers, but we will see I suppose.
