I just did a forced connection and restart. "Xfinity on Demand" is now on my Search list!
My Software Version is listed as: 20.2.0a-01-2-758
It took a while to dl the info and update...and I did sign up for the Priority Spring Update, just not sure if this is the real update or not.
6.2a Forever. It's more than a wish, it's a necessity.
If you are reading this thread you probably already know the pros and cons, for me it's all about the tivo interfaced MRV.
The bad news:
The recent guide data change seems to have caused a loss of local channels. For those in the NYC area, that means 2 (CBS), 4 (NBC), 5 (Fox) and 7 (ABC), as well as the PBS channels 13 & 21.
The good news:
Those local channels (except for PBS) are still available in the (less familiar) locations in the 390s.
The ranks of SD Directv users grow fewer every day, but if any of the underground heros of yesteryear are still out there, perhaps an enhancement or tweak will be found that will restore locals properly.
How about a show of hands, who among us would prefer to remain on 6.2a (assuming a locals fix) vs going to 6.4 / changing equipment?
Pretty ho hum ep. That actually wasn't very smart of Troyzan imo. Even if he still some how survived today and Christina went home, it still leave's the big 4 in control. He needed to work with Christina. He got Tarzan to flip, but needed to work on Kat some more.
.. or is it just me?
Numerous times this evening, I am getting the dreaded "server is taking too long to respond" errors.
Apparently Ryan is super sick and was this close to not being able to host for the first time ever. TMZ said they have puke buckets side stage. LOL poor Ryan.
Jessica - Okay it's official. I'm annoyed by Jessica. She used to be one of my favorites too. As soon as they said she was singing that I rolled my eyes and said "of course she is because the obvious Queen song for a 16 yr old is about killing a man".
Skylar - I actually liked this. I find I appreciate her performances when she's stationary. She didn't country it up too much like I feared.
Joshua - and the Joshua ball washing continues. I. Cannot. Stand. It.
Elise - Now that was her style. I knew she, of all of them, would have a good week. I just feel like she's always hanging by a thread. She, IMO, has no chance to win but she just refuses to go.
Phillip - HAHA! He did not do that song. I kinda loved it. It was humorous seeing his innocent, wholesome face grinning while singing the words "fat bottom girls you make the rockin world go round". I liked that he made very slight alterations of the song but not all that much. It was vocally/musically the perfect song for his voice though.
Hollie - I think this was the wrong song for her. I don't think it's that well known. I honestly barely remember it and I'm an 80s girl. (maybe I'm totally off on that though) She sounded good though. Stage presence was again this week, better.
Jessica - That package with the others talking about her was hilarious. Phillip IS weird in the best way possible. :) She looked really great for this song but I don't connect with this song. Call me stone heart but it just doesn't tug at my strings so I can't appreciate it. She did sound good but I didn't hear anything special on this one.
Skylar - Skylar talking about Hollie calling her fat wasn't really a good idea. She's not exactly skinny minnie is she? Hollywood standards, she probably is fat. I can hear all the haters having a field day with that. Oh well, I don't care. She did her country thing. At least she was again stationary. Have no idea what she was wearing but it was kinda cool (minus the boots).
Joshua - Sorry I can't give an opinion on this because I ended up FFW on it. I can't help it. I honestly tried tonight to sit through his performance and it just goes right through me. Of course they gave him a standing ovation. It's become expected from them now so it's not a special thing.
OH NO! Did Ryan just say Dave Matthews track coming up? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Don't do it Phillip!!!
Elise - Okay first. Does she have a scarf hanging from her ring??? WTF. And she's singing Mayer (yes, I realize she means to be singing the Hendrix version but it didn't come off as such to me) No. This did not work for me at all. Wasn't rocker enough for me. Ummm I'm pretty sure that song is familiar from one of them, Tyler. Get it together.
Phillip - I love his sarcasm. OH Hell yes. Of any song by DMB to do, The Stone is perfect. But not well known outside DMB circles, I don't think. I'm not sure this is gonna go over well with the general audience. I personally loved it but that pretty much went without me saying it, no? No? Yes. ;)
Hollie - Miley. hmm.. I didn't hate it but I can't say I think either of her songs were pimp spot deserving either.
Overall, this week is tough. I know who I'd like to GTFO but I know I'll just be disappointed again. I have to honestly say Elise or Hollie have to go this week.
And I just realized everyone left but Phillip has been in the bottom before.
Unit is in good condition and will be listed on Ebay starting Friday 4/27. Would prefer to sell to someone from this forum. If your interested contact me: askjones2000 at yahoo.com
Anyone else having problems with OnDemand? There are certain things that just will not download. For example, I queue up a few episodes of Game of Thrones. I left it and when I returned, I had episodes 4, 7, and 9. I tried to again and it downloaded episode 1 successfully, then skipped the rest. I cannot get episode 2 to download after 10 tries. The download queue will show the item, will say preparing for a few minutes, then it will disappear without downloading. I've had the same problem with Homeland. I cannot get episode 1 to save my life. I've downloaded tons of movies and other shows and will randomly get most successfully and some failed. Anyone else have this experience?
New to Forum--Has ANYONE been able to get full digital service from Time Warner with CableCard (and Tuning Adapter?) on a Premiere (XL) series 4?
I tried in 2011, but was unsuccessful.
I need 'explicit' help connecting my tivo to the internet through my laptop at an RV resort. I know that tivo does not support this but one of their very knowledgeable techs told me how to do it in 09 and it worked perfectly.. I have not needed it since then and have forgotten how to do it. Can I please get some help setting this up now that I'm on the road again in my 5th wheel? I will be here for about a year so I'd like to have my tivo work otherwise I have to cancel my service.
Please bear in mind you are talking to a complete idiot when it comes to the jargon and I'm blond! So.. you have to tell me what to do using those criteria. I have enable ICS but I keep getting the NO2 error about a DHCP server could not be detected. I have both the ethernet crossover cable and the little wireless tivo adapter thingy as well My tivo is a series 2DT. I have tried to hook it up both ways but just keep getting that error message. I have not asked for the network password from the office because I'm sure they will tell me to jump in the lake so I need this laptop workaround to connect to the internet with my tivo to download my programming.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and I need all the help I can get. Sure wish I could reach the 'only' tivo techie who knew his stuff and had me up and running in under 5 minutes. He said he'd rather have me up and running unsupported than lose a customer.. Smart man! He went to another company just last year.. dang it.
Thanks for any help,
Yeah, it's weird, but I spend the WHOLE TV season trying to catch up on shows I recorded all week, and then, by the time I catch up, the cycle starts all over again. Now, I do enjoy first run shows and all that, but, there's a certain freedom to off season viewing. Feel like a movie? Why not? Feel like watching an old series that you have on DVD? Go for it. With less clutter on my DVR I can really watch what I feel like.
I will say, I'm the type that doesn't like to be 3 or 4 episodes behind on a show I like, nor to I like to wait for the end of the season and watch a marathon of a certain show. One reason for this....I like to discuss my favorite shows here, and it's impossible to do if you have 10 episodes saved up.
Magic City on STARZ. I think they have shown 3-4 episodes so far. Set in Miami Beach 1959.
Is anyone watching? And is it worth it? I have heard -zero- buzz about this show. I've got them all, but have plenty to watch unless this is B+ or better.
Your thoughts? Thanks!
Is anybody still watching? There's no threads for any of this season's episodes. I'm still enjoying it enough, but getting annoyed at a few things. They have overemphasized that Temperance is (now) a vegetarian. I think I've been enjoying the intern subplots more than the main murder.
Great episode. I had been wondering what was up with Kurt's dad and Wil Schuster's wedding.
I wish they didn't have Kurt sing "I Have Nothing." The song was way too big for his thin, nasally, and annoying voice.
Nice cold open. It was pleasing to hear them perform without instruments.
So I was excited because I just bought a premiere elite, but now I am really frustrated trying to get the old one to work again. I set it up in a new room, but now I can't get the tuning adapter to work anymore. Initially all I could get was a continuously blinking light. After I changed USB cables I got a solid light, but the Tivo still doesn't find it. I tried restarting both devices several times with no luck.
The TWC support person just said to exchange the adapter, but it is the same one that worked before. After I hung up, I brought the adapter that was working on the Elite and the old Tivo can't find that one either. So now I don't know what to try. The old receiver I had in here wasn't having any trouble picking up channels, so I don't think it is a signal issue (and why would that prevent the Tivo from seeing the adapter at all).
Anybody know anything I can try?
I've been a Tivo subscriber since 1998, at least. I steered many friends toward the box. A a couple of them picked up Premieres and were plenty disappointed. I happened to be at the house of one friend as his HD menus crashed again and again. I managed to set him up with SD menus.
So I resisted for a long time, but got one a couple of weeks ago and moved my Series 3 HD downstairs.
I must say, I have been nothing but pleased with the Premiere as my main box and the HD menus. No lag, no crashes. I can watch shows as I surf the guide. Just very impressed, considering all the reviews I read.
So kudos to Tivo for fixing what was wrong. Keep it up!
I just noticed that when I look at 2 of my 3 Series 2 from the 4 S2...the names have changed. Each of my units has a Disney Themed name. Now 2 of them say "DVR-#### DVR" as their name.
Looking at the Account Info screen on these boxes it says "Name this TIVO at tivo.com"
How did the names get lost?
I recently started using a new Premiere after my Series3 gave up on me. I love the Premiere's features, but detest the new style of 30 second skip. My other TiVo's skip feature (once toggled on) was a true skip. The Premiere is preset with this feature (no need to S-P-S-3-0-S) .. but, it is no longer a "skip." It is now simply a measured fast forward. This is much slower and much inferior to what we've had for many years.
Anyone have a solution, or would anyone like to join my complaint to TiVo and try to get the old style skip back into the code?
Yeah, pretty obvious on those 2 choices.
Juliet does this thing where she is like a shelled up shy person, then comes out performing and just nails it and is so out going. Then, as soon as it is over, she shells up again. So shy and withdrawn. It's kinda weird.
Going forward, I think Juliet is better than Jamar. Between Tony and Katrina, it is much closer and could come down to song selection. Right now, I give the nod to Tony.
I just find this mind boggling. The biggest deal in reality show HISTORY? I have incredibly low standards and I don't even watch the Kardashians. Apparently a LOT of people do though... Wow. Fake a wedding, cash in... Fake dating Kanye, Cash in. What CAN'T these people make money off of? :D
The E! Entertainment network said Tuesday it had reached a deal with its most bankable franchise to make three more seasons of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." TMZ reports the family will be paid over $40 million for the 3 seasons, making the deal the richest contract in reality TV history.
I have a Series 3 Tivo with lifetime, stuck at the 'Welcome Powering Up' screen and I can't get to the kickstart menu (the lights never go off), so it might not be the drive. I hate my cable company (cablecard nightmare stories) and just use analog and OTA.
I have two Series 2's in other rooms on MSD my wife uses. I have an older component (1080i) tv. I think my options are:
1). Call Tivo and see what they will do. Another thread indicates I might get offered a Premiere and transfered lifetime for $270 ish...
2). Keep the Series 2's (MSD dies if s3 doesn't call home?) and just get a box to convert digital OTA to analog (ugh). Can't find any QAM tuners that do component out currently. Use that + basic. No time shifting.
3). Cut the cord?? Just use basic...
4). Get a new tv, maybe a mac mini and use eye tv. $$$$
5). Sigh. Get a cable co dvr...
6). Something else...
What would you do?
