When I am watching a movie with occasionally captioned dialog the caption often disappears too fast; so, anticipating this, I hit the pause button. But immediately the green time lapse indicator bar pops up and covers the text so I have to hit the exit button to clear it out of the way. It's annoying
Is there a way to stop that bar from poping up automatically, or making it pop up at the top of the screen instead of at the bottom?
Justin Lin, who directed the wonderful first "Community" paintball episode, is starting a new YouTube series. He got his actor and crew friends to donate their time to create a promo for the channel. It's a bit weird but also has quite a few chuckles. (Gillian Jacobs shows up at the end.)
The title changed for tonight's episode. Check your To Do list to make sure it is picking it up.
I did not see another post...
My TiVo slide remote broke again, second one.
Does not handle dropping well.
Bluetooth was working but ir stopped, then everything stopped, very frustrating!!!
I opened it, removing one screw. There was a loose module that fell out, i plugged it back in, remote fixed!!!!
I will try to post photos later
Is it just me, or does anyone else dislike the update crawler at the bottom of the screen on ESPN, Golf Channel, etc? Hello, a large percentage of sports TV viewers have DVR's of some make or model. We are probably recording that event you're spoiling at the bottom of the screen.
It would seem in this day and age of internet and DVR's the sports channels would get we don't want them to spoil our viewing.
First, what do you think?
Secondly, any way to eliminate the crawler with a filter? It must be a specific part of the broadcast. Wishful thinking on my part I suppose.
I'm considering dumping the Comcast DVR and going to Tivo as my primary unit. (I have recently obtained an older Series 2 in the garage, so I'm familiar with Tivo's capabilities.) There is an offer to upgrade to a Factory Renewed Premiere XL for $149 plus 399 for the MSD lifetime.
Is it worth it to buy lifetime for an older renewed XL?
Also, how happy are you all with Tivo as a company and their support?
Anyone know of a USB extension that will work with the slide remote? I've tried a 32' 'active' extension from monoprice but the Tivo HD would not recognize that a remote was present. Likely because the cable acts as a hub, I guess. I'd like to be able to use the remote from a room 2 floors up from where the Tivo is located. I'll be using in-room IR extenders to handle getting regular IR remote signals back to the Tivo. But in the master bedroom I'd like to be able to use the Slide. Thus my interest in an extension.
So has anyone found a USB extension that the Tivo will recognize the remote receiver properly?
Link to new show that started this past week:
I watched both episodes and found it pretty interesting. No signs of any staging or fakery.
I did love that the Sherrif was driving around in some drug dealers mazaratti!
I've now cleared the decks and have 3 series 1 Tivos ( with 120 GB discs I think ) to give away for free :) to anyone who can collect them. They were all working under ALTEPG ( 1a or 1c I think ) 2 via network and 1 via PPP.
There are also 3 remotes, 1 IR wand and 1 serial cable. The network cards and rf2Link's are on ebay.
I would like them to go in 1 group ( there are also 2 sky+ boxes if you want them as well ) and I live near Oxford.
PM me if you're interested
Had a Tivo premiere set up with a cablecard today. After the installer left i decided to plug in a set of rabbit ears to pull in some OTA channels that were missing. When I go to the menu to scan for channels, I get the message that I'm not allowed to scan when a cable card is installed. Is there any way around this?
Not sure what happened to my original post but somehow it never made it here??
My setup is thus:
A Dell PC running Tivo Desktop Plus.
A Tivo HD connected to my network.
The Dell and original Tivo can see each other and transfers programs between them just fine.
I added a second Tivo HD and it connects to the internet just fine except that for the Dell PC it shows no shows available. The new Tivo doesn't see the original Tivo at all..
The Original Tivo HD sees the new Tivo but again it too shows no shows available. (It still shows the Dell just fine with the programs.)
Also how do I get Tivo Desktop to see the SECOND Tivo.
Any suggestions, please??
I just added a second Series 3 to my home network which WAS a Dell Desktop PC with Tivo Desktop Plus and my original Series 3. I hae no problem with them recognizing each other and transferring programs between them.
I added a second Series 3 to the same network and it connects to the internet just fine. The problem is, in the Now Playing list,it sees the Dell desktop but shows no programs available. It does not show the original Series 3 at all.
The original Series 3 shows the Dell Desktop with all available programs and the new DVR but with nothing available.
I also can't see where to add the new Series 3 to the Tivo Destop Plus program.
Anybody have any suggestions!
I have a Tivo HD on Cox (Rhode Island). I have a problem with some channels accumulating RS errors in the tens of thousands. If one of these channels is buffering, the tuner eventually 'freezes' and just sits on a grey screen until I change channels. This only happens on higher-frequency channels, however; seems to be above 650MHZ or so. Channels in the 400's, for example, are fine. It happens with both tuners, so I know it's not that one of them is bad. Also, I recently upgraded the hard drive and power supply so those are both fine as well. The thing I was wondering about, is that Cox is now using tuning adapters in our area but I haven't gotten one yet. Could that be the cause?
I was using the RCA jacks on the back of my XL4 and decided to switch
to the HDMI cable. The picture is much better but now I dont hear the
tivo kurplunk sound anymore. Is that normal? I kinda like that sound:)
Hi folks. I am wondering if my Tivo is on the way out. Here are the issues I am having
1. When I swap from 1 tuner to the other ( I like to watch 2 shows at once pausing and swapping ) there is a large flicker when doing it on the tv. I never noticed anything like that with my Tivo HD. It also, quite often, will lose sound when I do this and I have to either power my TV or swap a couple more times.
2. The system has begun rebooting itself about once a week. This just happened tonight when I was watching a downloaded video podcast and went into the tivo menu while watching.
3. The system is just dog slow. I am using HD menu's so I contribute some to that, but there are times when bringing up the menu takes 5-10 seconds. This does not seem right to me.
I bought it in February and got an extended service plan on it. So is it just me or is something not right here? Are there any things I could try?
Looks like most channels are in the 40's. SNR is about 29 or 30. They all work, but occasional are lost or get pixelated. I have a rather poor cable set up with a lot of splitters.
Should I spring for a signal booster/amplifier? Looking at a four port Motorola that seems to get good reviews I can put it in a outside box and energize it through an unused cable connection on the inside of the house.
Hi all, this is my 1st post here and I had a question to ask.
I am in the process of purchasing a used Series 3 with a 1TB HDD from someone for $75.
Is the series 3 considered too outdated to get today? Is it worth it to buy?
I current have a Motorola QIP7100 P1 with Verizon and wanted to get a DVR with tivo so I could use the cable card and get tivo service which cheaper than Vz's dvr.
I have used TIVO for years now with no problem. This past week we decided to upgrade to Time Warner Cable's Signature Home Service, which they installed a Ubee DDW3611 router to replace my Netgear router.
Since then, i have not been able to get my Tivo box to connect to the Tivo service. I have tried to add the ports documented by Tivo to the Port Triggering page. I have turned off Wan Blocking and Multicast and UPnP are enabled. I spent a good part of the day talking to Tivo and TWC support, to no real help. I am hoping someone can help me figure out what i haven't been able to figure out.
- Series 2 dual tuner Tivo Box
- Set up on a TV without the digital cable - the TV plays fine through the TIVO box, so i know that part is working.
I am hoping someone that has been through this might can point me in the right direction.
I've watched the first 2 episodes. I have to say so far so good. I've already recognized quite a few faces in just two episodes. I have a long way to go though, don't I? :o
