Do the Netflix Icons show up for you when you use the "Browse Movies & TV" menu?? :confused:
I see the Netflix Icon on very few movies when I use the 'Find TV, Movies, & Videos/Browse TV & Movies' menu. For instance, I'll look for Movies and go to the Westerns category. When I look at True Grit (both the old one with John Wayne, and the new one with Jeff Bridges) they don't have the Netflix icon!!! Why not?? :rolleyes:
I just watched True Grit yesterday on Netflix on my Tivo, so it is there.. But Tivo won't let me go to it from the Tivo Browse TV & Movies menu? And the Netflix app kind of sucks. I have to search for that exact movie. There is no Western category to browse. It is slow and you can only see about 4 movies in a category at a time. In the Tivo Browser you can select Westerns as a category, and the 'entire screen' is all westerns. You can see about 20 at a time!! That is much better. Argg.... :(
It's season 3 for the Great Food Truck Race on Food Network. Interesting twist this year where the contestants are food truck operator wannabes. Many don't even have any restaurant or professional culinary experience. Should be pretty interesting to see them deal with it all.
I am trying to replace my Tivo HD XL's 1TB HD with a 512G SSD. I understand that there are many reasons not to do it (such as 24/7 writes will wear SSD down quickly, and this does not provide performance enhancement, etc) but the HD is too noisy and I cannot sleep with it on.
I tried instantcake, but it tells me "backup target not large enough for entire backup by itself"
Also tried WinMFS v9.3f, MFSLive v1.4 ISO, and both give me similar error saying target drive is too small.
I tried upgrade my Tivo Premiere using JMFS Linux Boot CD, that did not work either.
But I can see someone did it before (tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=454580)
I checked my hd partition by cat /proc/partitions, and it shows there are two partitions with size > 400G.
My question is, is there a way fit Tivo HD or Premiere software into a 512G SSD? Or a way to delete/shrink some of the Tivo partiton? How to do it?
Had a visit this morning from a couple of U-verse sales people. When I saw the logo on their shirts, I told them I was not interested in U-verse TV as "I have TiVos and you don't support TiVo". They kept insisting that they did in fact support TiVos even when I told them I have 4, only 1 of which that would work with U-verse and that the other 3 used CableCARDs which they do not and cannot support. They informed me that they were told in training that U-verse does support TiVo. Is it just me, or is this not criminal fraud?
My new Premiere XL will lock up frequently, usually when using menus in Tivo Central. It's happened while trying to access recordings, or switching menus. And once I got a black screen, with the time bar moving, but no recording showing.
I've rebooted it each time (I recently became aware of the thumbs down/up play/play suggestion but haven't been able to try it yet). After reboot it appears to work OK, although I have to re-record whatever I was recording at the time of the reboot.
Western Regional forecast or show is repeating since Thursday.. not sure why it isn't showing the *new* information.. any suggestions on how to fix?
It appears that in order to use the Tivo App on Android, you have to login as the actual account holder, and then you have full control over the actual account (credit cards, etc.)
Is there not a way to just submit recording requests, etc. without having full access?

My Premiere just downloaded 3 new videos: "Basic DVR Features", "Advanced DVR Features" and "Web Features". These are different than the 6 old videos that normally download on a new box.

I just noticed that one of my Tivos was downloading some stuff via internet. I wondered if it was a software update, so I forced a connection on my other one. It seemed to download a good bit of data, then proceeded to download the same stuff via internet (blue light). Now I have three Tivo tour videos on both TiVos. The software is listed as 18.104.22.168. Is this a new version? I can't honestly recall what the version was before these downloads.
Edit to add: I don't see anything different and the one on which I forced a connection didn't ask for a reboot. It's only the long download followed by the demo videos that made me notice anything out of the ordinary.
Love TiVo but...
About three weeks ago sometime after the incomprehensible dumbing down Netflix App was forced on me I found that whenever I get to the actual "play" button all we see is the "loading" screen for 20-30 seconds with no change in the percent load, followed by a pop-up message saying they are having trouble playing this title now and please play something else.
Of course every title does this.
I can even search titles and add them to my queue which then allows me to play them through my ROKU or the Panasonic internet capable TV which all three devices are connected to. Both work perfectly for netflix through my ethernet connections, and all of these are identical.
Here are just the answer emails between support and I. You don't have to read them just know it still doesn't work, and their comment in the last (top) email of "as this is a known issue that we are having with the TiVo boxes" informs me this is THEIR PROBLEM.
I would be glad to continue helping you with the updated information you provided. With the issue that you are having, we have reported this issue to be looked into further as this is a known issue that we are having with the TiVo boxes. We recommend trying the troubleshooting that we have recommend at least once a day to see if anything has change or the Netflix app has started working properly. We are sorry to hear that you are having that issue with your TiVo box. With the troubleshooting that we have tried this far there are a couple things that we have not tried yet that we would like to see if that helps the issue that you are experiencing. First, I would like you try unlinking you account from Netflix on the TiVo box. Settings & Messages > Account & System Info > Netflix Account Info > Deactivate this device. Once you do that you will link the account again by signing in through your TiVo box. Once in, please try selecting a new title and see if it plays or you get the error message.
Second, if that doesn't work I would like you to try unplugging the TiVo box for about 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Once restarted repeat the steps to see if Netflix will play a show or movie, if you still have issues, please let us know.

Since we cannot see your Netflix queue specifically, could you test this with the program "Heroes" season 1, episode 1? This episode is known to be working on our in-house TiVo boxes.
Can you also please try changing your video output settings? You can do this from Messages & Settings > Settings > Video > Video Output Formats. Specifically, if you could try with as many of these settings as your TV would allow and let us know if you see any difference, we would greatly appreciate it.
Additionally, were you able to test YouTube? Could you play video there? Could you also please test one of the Hulu Plus sample videos to see if you receive the same error?

Can you please give us the full error message you receive when you get the blank screen? Additionally, can you check the standard definition menus to see if they have the same error when accessing Netflix? You can switch menus from TiVo Central > Messages & Settings > Settings > Displays > Choose TiVo Menus, and Netflix will be in the Video On Demand section.
Additionally, does YouTube seem to be working all right?

Please go to 'TiVo Central > Settings & messages > Settings > Channels > Video Provider List'.
Once you have reached this menu, de-select Netflix from the list of Video Providers.
Next, please go to TiVo Central by pressing the TiVo logo at the top of your remote. While on TiVo Central, press the following buttons in sequence on your TiVo Remote - Thumbs Down, Thumbs Up, Play, Play. If entered correctly, the TiVo will appear to reboot.
Once you're able to access TiVo Central, go to Settings & messages > Settings > Channels > Video Provider List. Finally, re-select Netflix.

Saw this over at The Missing Remote (which is, ironically, an HTPC website). Tivo's IP-STB extender has just been announced for fall release. Here's

It appears that this is only going to be offered to GCI subscribers, but it will be interesting to see if Tivo expands the offering to the general public at a later date. I'd be curious to see if this device can link to more than one Tivo on a home network.

I had actually gotten to like and sympathize with Louis in the last five or six episodes. He was a total a-hole in this one and now I'm back to hating him.
