I have 2 networked Tivos - a new Premiere XL and a Series 2. When I transfer any show from the Series 2, I select to transfer it "from beginning". And yet - the show appears on my Premiere XL with only the part that I haven't watched yet. Only half of the show is there on the green play-bar at the bottom of the screen. Clearly this is not working properly, correct? Has anyone else seen this behavior?
Have Tivo Premiere using Streambaby. My connection is HDMI and I am using 3 speakers (left, center, right) in my family room.
We are only using a Sony DA3500ES and don't like the sound. The audio is not clear when watching movie with streambaby. There are no bars when lowering, increasing volume which is quite annoying. So the volume is either too low or too high.
Should I purchase another receiver to improve sound quality? If so, any suggestions on brand/model?
Or is there something else I should do? Please let me know. Thanks.
My husband and I have had a child with extra needs and we've lost all time for TV :( We're looking to sell all of our Tivos. We have 2 Premieres both with annual subscriptions. One expires 7/1 the other expires 8/27. You can take over that service and continue to use annual instead of monthly subscriptions. We have 1 Series 3 HD and one Series 2. We also have 2 of the Wireless G adapters. I believe at least one of the Premieres is an XL, but if you could let me know how to confirm that, I'll figure out what kind they are.
My TiVo HD is not receiving recording requests from my iPhone. The last two days it has not recording both shows I've requested in the app. I've looked in the todo history and they requested shows arent there and I never received an email stating it was scheduled or that their was a conflict. Ive attempted to test it today while home (with the wif off to mimick the other times ive attempted to set recordings with the app) numerous times and the TiVo received none of the requests and I never got an email. My email in tivo.com is correct.
I can however schedule recordings just fine using tivo.com.
Is this a known issue?
Any ideas on how I can fix it?
I currently have DirectTV with a standard def receiver.
I would like to record various channels and I assume a TiVo system would work.
Some questions and observations:
1. I see used TiVo systems for sale on ebay an various other sites.
2. Does the TiVo system replace my standard def receiver, or does it supplement my standard def receiver?
3. If it supplements my standard def receiver, what is the high level connection diagram? Cable wire -> TiVo -> DirectTV receiver -> TV -- or -- Cable wire -> DirectTV receiver -> TiVo -> TV?
4. If I was to personally purchase a TiVo system, would I have to pay some entity (such as DirectTV) for TiVo "service"?
Sorry for such basic questions, but I'm (obviously) very confused and looking for direction to proceed.
I just downloaded the Plus version today and I'm curious -- is it normal for it to take hours to convert a show to a new format?
I have two HD TiVo's, both hard wired into my network. My router is an Apple Time Capsule. The TiVo's can see each other, and I can browse the programs, but when I try to transfer a show from one to another, it just tells me it will transfer when other shows are finished, but there are no other transfers to finish. Any suggestions?
I just got a Premiere XL this week, and was excited to see in the literature that there would be a usage meter to see my hard-drive space. Problem is, in my "Shows" menu, there is no usage meter. The spot which is supposed to have this info is only a blank space. I'm wondering if I need a certain percentage of the hard drive to be full to use this feature? I have about 20 shows recorded and several "suggestions". Or maybe it doesn't exist if using SD menus? Any thoughts are welcome.
I'm way in over my head technically on all this stuff, but was trying to figure out which of the newer Tivos would work with our cable arrangement.
We're on basic cable, which is only analog. I'm assuming that all the programming is SD, too.
We're currently using Series 2 Tivos (great products but energy hogs).
So key question:
Do any of the newer Tivos work with analog cable?
Switching to over-the-air
One alternative is to switch everything to over-the-air HD antennas (we have one Tivo set up with that), but that's flakey where we are--intermittent reception, incredible sensitivity to orientation of antenna, etc.
Plus, and this is key, Tivo does not provide programming information for NBC in our area. That's been true for 3 years now and continues in spite of my repeated requests for them to fix it!
We're doing a home energy audit and discovered to our shock that our two Tivos were consuming more power than anything else in our house, including our furnace!
They are two Series 2 DVD units (Humax and Toshiba) and both draw 60 watts! That's equivalent to a 120w light bulb running 24-7. While at first glance that doesn't seem like much it works to 3 kwh in a day, 90 in a month, and over 1,000 in a year! At 16 cents/kwh, it turns out to be about $170 a year!
I hope my calculations are wrong (they certainly could be :))!
Both machines are on lifetime (fortunately), but it was a major surprise to realize that we're paying roughly $15 a month just to run them and that they are the biggest energy hog in the house!
Looking for advice on possible solutions on how to save energy
1. Live with it.
2. Put them each on a timer that shuts them off 16 hours a day.
3. Replace both with a newer Tivo.
#1 keeps hitting the pocket book.
#2 according to many puts wear and tear on the Tivos.
#3 would lose the DVD capability. In addition, we're on basic cable, meaning analog land-- no digital cable. So, getting a new Tivo may not even be an option.
Any advice appreciated!
Glad to see the show back. I really enjoy the scenery and the characters. Ariel just cracks me up.
CNBC is showing A Greek Tragedy about the economic problems in Greece at 8 PM Sunday. But it's only showing a duration of 30 minutes. I thought I heard them say that the duration would be two hours, when it was announced Friday. So think about padding your show by an hour and a half.
I have 2 premier's, and an older series 2, all connected to my network. My series 2 dvr is named "Series 2", and shows up in the Now playing list on both my premier's. I just installed KMTTG, and and have upoloaded a few recordings from the series 2, to my pc. Now, on both my premier's, in addition to the "series 2" dvr showing in my now playing list, there is also a "DVR-4298" which has all the same shows, that my series 2 does. Is this normal?
Can anyone tell me the series id for the HBO series Girls? There is nothing showing up in MetaGenerator and I have tried every number I can find. Thanks.
You know, someone needs to head down to Williams Street and tell the guys at what was Aqua Teen Hunger Force that changing their titles every year is annoying to their audience (though they know it and do it on purpose).
Again, needed to set up a new season pass on this show because the AUPS1 pass wouldn't switch over at all, but thankfully I had to anyways since my system just got Cartoon Network/Adult Swim in HD. Fair warning for next Sunday night.
One of the seminal programs in Tivo and DVR history, mfs_ftp.tcl, has gotten a little long in the tooth. Complexities in updating/patching because much of its power comes from previous work and there are some sensitivities from both the pioneers and the author.
90%+ of Tivo and DTivo users have probably moved on and don't care
But for those who might care, a recent attempt to take a new look at the functionality is a program called tyftpd.tcl, a very nice piece of work that is worth a look if you'd like to have that functionality.
Attempts are being made to smooth its interface with another program called MovieLoader. A successful result here would be a huge step forward for those of us who are using older Tivos, for examples the HR10-250 or older DTivos or SA Tivos.
I can't point you specifically to where this is being discussed, but a search on tyftpd.tcl might be productive
No joke I get a TiVo message everyday that my Comcast line up has changed. Often is keeps changing the same channels. It has been going in for at least 6 months going back into 2011. Example
HBO --> HBOHDthen the next day will be:
HB0HD --> HBOThen day after that.
HBO --> HBOHDAnd keeps going, except maybe it will switch from HBO to TNT and keep changing TNT for a while.
I called TiVo and asked 2-3 times, and get same response "Its not TiVo's fault because we simply issue changes that are given to us by Comcast". When I call Comcast, they point the finger at TiVo saying that Comcast is not changing the lineup, and say HBO (or whatever) has not changed, thus its a TiVo problem.
Clearly this an automated process, which is failing, but both sides deny that there is a problem, or that if there is a problem, its not their problem to fix.
Sounds like a sequel to the very funny movie: "Office Space".
Any ideas what is really going on?
ABC June 27th 10pm
The option to create the Season Pass is there but...
Trying to make a season pass using Tivo remote. When I go to edit pass options, the little spinning circle center of Tv screen spins for 5 seconds then it dumps me back to the show's details. Won't schedule the pass.
Trying to make a season pass using iPad app. I notice in the options it says channel "null". When I press Ok, I get Error 0x30046 and won't confirm that it's scheduled. Just makes me press Ok to exit the error message.
I can create a pass for the show(s) that air right before/after on that same channel just fine. I can create passes for this time slot on other channels just fine. It's just this show this channel.
I'll do a reboot tonight. Then try again in the morning...
Does anyone know if TiVo ever plans to have a buffer longer than 30 minutes? The HR24 I had from DTV had something like 90 minutes. Heck, even the Series 2 DVR40 I had years ago could be "adjusted" to 90 minutes with no issues.
Did anyone watch this? (It first aired Wednesday, June 13 on NBA TV.)
I just watched it tonight. As an NBA fan (and Chicago Bulls fan) since the late 80's, of course I was all over the Dream Team when they were playing, so I thought this was a real treat. And it was good simply as a documentary work, with a lot of great behind-the-scenes footage, and participation from many of the athletes including Jordan, Bird, and Johnson. They were fascinatingly candid, from Jordan and Pippen even today talking with dislike about Isiah Thomas, to most of them still carrying the competitive spirit that refuses to acknowledge that another player is better than them. And it was a thrill to see some of the footage of the legendary Monte Carlo scrimmage from right before the Games started. That game has been the stuff of legends for 20 years and we finally got to see a little bit of it.
Some of my other favorite parts:
- John Stockton strolling with his family through Barcelona, introducing himself to American tourists who never recognized him.
- Mike Krzyzewski revealing that Chuck Daly threw the inital scrimmage that the Dream Team lost to the US college players -- a brilliant strategy.
- As a Bulls fan, Jordan and Pippen destroying Toni Kukoc. I liked him as a Bulls player, but this was prior to then and I remember their vendetta (really against GM Jerry Krause, as Jordan said in this movie) distinctly.
- The players agog at the topless beaches in Monte Carlo.
- Seeing footage of vintage Jordan. Ah, memories.
