I watched the ep titled "Grand Theft Auto" today. It's currently featured at http://www.cnbc.com/id/42767515/
It was a decent piece and pretty insightful. They talked about VIN cloning and some of the tactics used by auto theft rings. Pretty crazy stuff.
Good Finale, I knew that there was going to be a Cliff connection.
I am just a little miffed with myself that I did not get the clue that was in our face the whole season.
Her name Rebecca is the same name as Cliff and Pam's mother.
So as an homage to the opening episode of the original series a Ewing marries a Barnes.
We currently have a series 2 tivo and a cable HD DVR 40 hr capacity. Considering purchasing the premiere XL to replace both dvr's. We don't use vod so I'm not concerned with losing that. I've read through a lot of posts that complain about the UI for tivo though.
For those of you that have the premiere xl, how do you like it? Would you purchase it again or go for something else?
I have seen on the forum that some users have been able to stream multi room on Wireless N. It also appears Tivo may have originally supported it and then changed. My question is for those who have done it sucessfully, has Tivo made a change to hardware or software which no longer allows it or just won't support it. Due to my expected location of the one unit which will be on N when all set up, I think I could be sucessful if still allowed. For reference, the other is further away from router and has ethernet.
Other question is for FIOS users. Does Verizon always install MoCa regardless of the equipment requested and will the testing they do reliabilly inform me that MoCa will work well? Can I expect adding the Tivo bridge on the Premier and using the built in bridge on the XL4 to be reliable or is it worth spending a day in the attic running Ethernet?
So, using kmttg, is there at all a way to download a portion of a show only?
For example, say I have an episode of "Dallas" recorded but I only want to download the opening title sequence? I know you can click PAUSE on your TiVo and kmttg will start the recording from there but it will continue until the end of the recording. Any way to stop it earlier or is this a feature you just can't do?
Looking for any help, info, input anyone my have on using Tivo Series 2 with a Motorola VIP2202. I cannot get it to change channels using the IR blasters.
Thanks for any and all help.
I noticed recently that the 30 second advance button isn't working anymore on my XL4. If I press it, it displays the time bar on the screen but nothing happens. If I am fast forwarding or rewinding, hitting the button will still skip to the next time segment.
I have an old S1 that I purchased around 2001 or so, and I upgraded it with a 120GB hard drive, TurboNet, and TiVoWeb. Unfortunately, I haven't used it in at least a year or two, ever since I cancelled my cable TV service.
I know TiVo used to offer a lifetime service transfer to a new box, but I don't see that option advertised any more. I'd like to sell my TiVo, but would anyone buy it?
Well I've being "weened" from cable and my XL and 4XL machines. I'm away from home with only local OTA which isn't all that bad but when I look at an Internet Guide I keep reaching for the remote to set up the next few days of viewing. Well there isn't a TiVo!
No TV "my way" for probably six weeks! I don't believe I'd carry the XL here since the season is still a few weeks away but I have to admit I thought about packing it when I was home last weekend.
"TiVo - don't leave home without it! Soon that could very well be my "motto"!
Please tell me I'm not the only one watching this quirky show? I figured the time slot and the quality of the network would be an indication of quality. It took me 2 episodes, but now I think it's one of the funniest shows I watch.
The first episode sure had an interesting surprise.
Not sure if anybody is still watching, but I still am. In general it isn't that exciting of a show, but this was a pretty good episode.
The girl who took the money was smart. She was already in the bottom and even though I think the audience was warming up to her, it made sense.
I was glad to see Joy go down the tubes twice :D
My original Series 3 (Not HD), started rebooting the other day. Figured it was the hard drive and replaced it. That didn't fix the problem, got it narrowed down to if I have a cable card in the top slot, it reboots. Worked over a week with bottom cable card installed.
Anyone have any suggestions, replaced the cable card with a new one with same results.
I have two Tivos, a Premiere and an HD. I use the Premier on my main TV and the HD in the basement.
I've noticed recently that when I try to copy a show from my Premiere to the HD and then back to the Premiere, it only transfers part of the show. The reason I want to do that is so that i can save just a portion of a show.
Here's an example: my son liked watching one of the equestrian events in the Olympics, which took up the first hour of a 7-hour recording. Since I don't want to leave a 7-hour HD show taking up space on my Tivo, I decided to "crop" it using the transfer capability. So I started transferring the show to my HD, then once an hour or so of the recording was transferred, I stopped it. So I ended up with the hour I wanted on my TivoHD. Up to this point, everything was fine.
But, then I tried transferring the 1 hour recording back to my Premiere. Everything seemed to work fine, but when I checked the recording, it began 22 minutes in, not at the actual start. So the first third of the recording was chopped off. I tried it again (making sure I wasn't using "transfer from paused point"), and got the same result. Then I tried with some shorter recordings, and saw that for ~2 minute recordings, only the last 10-20 seconds would transfer back to my Premiere.
Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? Is there any known solution? I haven't tried transferring them to my computer yet, but that will be my next step.
My symptoms don't *seem* to match anything previously posted.
* Pre-recorded shows which used to be fine will stutter and freeze.
* If I reboot, said shows will work okay... but then fail again later.
* Live TV is affected (goes gray, fixed only by channel changing) when a pre-recorded show causes a freeze.
I ran a kickstart 54 and got an error code, but I've heard that SMART can give false-positives, and the disk is only 3 months old, so I'm loathe to just replace the disk. I managed to reinstall the OS with kickstart, thinking the drive upgrade (copied from a known-failing previous one) may have corrupted things. (And kickstart 57 didn't seem to do much.)
And the unit's temperature is fine (41C) --> I've seen and fixed that problem before.
I will be opening it to check for blown resistors, if any are puffy, then I guess it's time to shop for a new power supply. I can't find anything out there cheaper than $99... ouch.
If anyone has additional clues, I'd appreciate hearing about them.
Power move by Danielle, et al! Tonight's outcome should be interesting.
I switched from Comcast to Frontier Communications FIOS TV not too long ago. I also recently purchased a TiVo Premiere XL4.
I installed TiVo Desktop to try to copy some shows to a HTPC and I can't copy anything! EVERYTHING is marked copy protected!
I remember on my old TiVo HD with Comcast, I couldn't copy movies from premium channels like HBO, but it was never anything like this! What is going on?
(The site says my post count isn't high enough to allow me to post the actual image. If someone else can post it for me, that'd be awesome.)
