I've noticed over the past several weeks brief pauses (couple of seconds) of audio/video on TNT during the NBA playoffs. I've got a TiVoHD with the 1TB drive which I put in a couple of years ago I guess (back around the time that Costco had marked these units down for closeout). I'm trying to decipher if it is my FiOS feed from TNT or if it could be an early indicator of HD failure. The easy route obviously is for others to say that they've seen the same as well. I've got images as well as the original 160GB drive but if it were to be the HD (caps looked ok just a couple of months ago) it might be time to play with one of the Crucial 256GB SSD's since I'm running one in my laptop and I no way take advantage of the 1TB space.
the past week or so in the middle of watching a pre-recorded show on my Tivo Quad Elite the picture goes black and the sound goes off. The Sony HDTV stays on, but I see the word "Denon" on the screen, the model of my AV receiver. Then, when I turn the tv off and on I notice that the show is still playing uninterrupted on the Tivo and everything is fine again. It has been happening about once per day, every day. I am guessing that it might be a bad HDMI cable, what do you think?
I will give this another try but this was a very average medical show. There were no medical mysteries like in House. This seems to depend more on possible relationships between the main characters. Of course, it was the pilot introducing characters.
The trope of having the chief of surgery in a coma and commenting on things was actually well done. I just hope, that if I die in a hospital, I don't wonder the grounds forever.
I have 2 old Directv HR10-250 units that I bought years ago to use with my Directv service, After upgrading to full HD boxes It has been sometime now that they were stored in a closet and forgot about. I cleaned out the closet and found them and was wondering if I could turn them into a DVR for the kids.
I want to put a bunch of SD video files on the harddrive in it that i have on my computer that the kids like to watch and set it up in the TV room for them. This way they can turn it on and pull up the files and watch them while staying out of the computer.
So basically I want to turn them into personal DVR's for them that I can control the videos on them. I don't need to to hook any service up to them, I just want them to play the videos I put on them.
I've looked around in here and I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place. If someone could point me to a thread that discusses this I would be most appreciated. I am pretty computer savvy and always like to learn new things.
Again, I own the receivers and will not steal any services, I just want to keep the kids happy and the wife too, I was thinking about buying a media player but since I have the Tivo's here I would like to save the money for the braces I have to put on the youngest. There not cheap and every dollar counts.
Enjoyed this more than I expected to. George Lopez is the host and does a great job with his double entendres.
Basically, they bring out 1 guy for 30 women. The men have three chances to impress. The first round is an introduction based on appearance alone and the women vote by "turning off" their lights if...well...they're turned off.
The second round is a video delving more into the guys background.
The third round is also a video. Except it shows a side that will certainly turned them on or off.
I thought it was a lot of fun and it really shows why so many women are single today. They are just too damn picky!
One more thing, if in the end there are some light on, he asks one question then turns off those lights of the women he's not interested in.
The first guy, who my wife and I thought was a pretty good catch, "turned off" all the women. His second video revealed he hunts. That did him in.

Since they are already pre-formatted for various TiVo's I figured I'd put them up here in case someone that doesnt want to mess around with internal drives. If im breaking forum rules please LMK.

Just got an email from Electronics Expo for a sale on the Tivo Elite/XL4 for $319 using coupon code EXPOHOT. Says code is good for all Tivo receivers as well. I didnt buy my Elite with them, but I did get 2 regular Premieres from them a few months ago and they are a good company if you've never used them.
$300 shipped for series 3 with stock internal drive and 1tb external drive and lifetime subscription and harmony 880 remote.
i have a sdh400 with a bad hard drive. well two really. i have one working sdh400 with an upgraded 160gb drive. i am trying to get the other two working again to sell them off. i had though i made an image of an original 80gb drive with mfs tools 2.0. it made a *.bak file that was just over a gig, which i thought was large. now i remember back to when i did this i remember reading that once you upgrade to, say, a 160gb drive, you cant then upgrade to any other drive. it is a one time only thing. is this still true, even with winmfs? i tried using what i thought was the .bak file from mfs tools to put the image on a 250gb drive i have with winmfs but that doesnt work. i tried making an image with winmfs of my working drive to the 250gb drive, and also a 80gb drive spare, but that doesnt work either. i only have a usc-pata connector. i tried to get my laptop to boot using mfstools2 and it hangs halfway through, even though i think it can do usb if it does boot into mfstools. maybe i will try my other laptop. any other suggestions? i dont wanna pay $40 for the sdh400 image, i'd rather just sell them as nonworking i suppose...
I am in the Boston market and given the update re: On Demand I am considering upgrading from my series 3 HD to the Premiere XL4.
I did have a question. I remember having a terrible time getting the cable card up and running and paired with Comcast way back when I first got the HD.
With the XL4 is it simply a matter of removing the cable card from the HD and plugging it into the XL4, or do you have to go through a whole set up process again?
Thanks for any help/advice!
I currently have Directv with an added external hard drive via an eSATA cable. Can I take that hard drive and use it in a Premiere Tivo so I can watch my pre-recorded shows on that?
Thanks for anyone's help in advance!
Does any one know if the Tivo wireless G USB adapter uses a standard, commonly available USB cord? I saw one for sale that does not have a cable and don't want to end up not being able to find a workable cable for it.
I have a collection of Tivo video's that I transferred to my PC using the Tivo Desktop software, one of them HD F1, however when I try to convert from that.tivo format to an iTunes compatible format using software such as Pavtube and Handbrake the picture is scrambled. Is this some kind of copyright protection? Is there a way around this?
My understand was that anything copyright would not transfer to the PC in the first place?
I have also tried the Desktop Plus software from Tivo to convert to iPad format but I frequently get video / audio sync problems with this software and so stopped using it.
When setting the remote address for my new Elite, I noticed that the remote address box in the system info page now reads (from memory) "IR address=x, RF address=0"
What's this RF address and what RF remote does this work with?
I've got a Tivo HD that's been working great. Lately it's been hanging up but only after playing about 3 or 4 netflix streams. Basically, my son likes to watch a couple of episodes of Spiderman. Upon trying to watch a 3rd episode the stream never starts. If I back out and try another two the same thing happens, the stream doesn't start. If I back out and try to just play a recorded program (not netflix) then the whole Tivo hangs for about 5 minutes. After which it comes back to life normally (without having rebooted). I can even go back into the Netflix client and play one of the previously non-starting episodes.
It seems like the Netflix client is somehow causing a problem that takes a while for the Tivo to eliminate.
Anyone else had this problem?
Ok, this might be EXTREME wishful thinking & really grasping at straws, but thought I would investigate. I was wondering if there could be a way to make a Series 2 (DT) work with an Xbox 360.
Here is my situation and why; I was looking to possibly get an Xbox360 for several main reasons; gaming machine, Netflix box and access to Xfinity OnDemand services with Comcast. I also have a Series 2 DT (lifetime) in my basement rec room that is basically hooked up to just an old school 36" Panasonic CRT screen and controlling a Comcast DTA box. This is probably the area where the Xbox 360 would go as well.
Now, since Comcast is about to require some sort of hardware (cable card, digital box, DTA) for all programming, I just went ahead & made my Series 2 a single tuner DVR (controlling a DTA). It works well for the most part, but it made me wonder if I could then somehow hook up the Xbox 360 RCA outputs to the Series 2 RCA inputs (currently turned off).
Go through the Guided setup again and then basically make the Xbox 360 the 2nd tuner for the Series 2. I could manually record OnDemand material from the Xbox360 to the Series 2. Then I could MRV its material to one of my main TiVos on the main level of the house (2 Premieres). Anybody ever try this?
I had sort of did something similar when I had a full digital box hooked up to this Series 2 (but have turned it back into Comcast). Was able to manually record OnDemand material to Series 2 and MRVed it to my S3 & S4 TiVos. It worked so wondering if it could work with a Xbox360. In theory, it seems like it should.
If I get myself a new Tivo Premiere with active service, can I use my current Tivo3 to do multi room viewing without having service on the Tivo3?
Does multi room viewing require that both boxes have active service?
Hi guys, I bought a tivo in the UK when they first came out, I thought it was fantastic, then I moved to France so lost the tivo service and haven't touched it since.
My question: I see lots of tivo's for sale on ebay UK, I just wondered if there was a system to use tivi through the net? there is no UK TV here, well you can get it via satellite but officially you are not supposed to.
What other ways could I use a tivo? could I connect it to my TV and my PC network and watch things downloaded on my TV?
any help would be appreciated.
Anyone watching the new season?
I am sorry they sent Maxfield home-that Tyler kid has a bad attitude-"I'm slipping - I'm gonna fall - I don't like this song..."
Some of the mentors see it as perfectionism but I don't!
I am bad with names but I am going to really try-the blind kid, Mario, I love him...what a great attitude he has...he was into the dancing, and you could tell he took all the feedback they gave him - and I think they were honest with him, they didn't sugarcoat anything - and he is going to use it and get better. :o
Do we all remember Dani from "America's Got Talent" last year? She was the one who sang the funny song about looking like Justin Bieber...:D Nice to see her in another element.
Blake is cute, and also a little goofy-cute like they said, I like him. He seems natural on camera, and at ease with the others.:up:
...What do others think??? :)
