The Chew - daytime food show

Thu, 06/14/2012 - 15:02
Does anyone else watch this?

I record it and watch it during dinner. I enjoy the hosts and sometimes the food, but I don't think I could ever make much of it. They have great guests and some fun themed shows.

Converting Tivo Recordings to Editable Format?

Thu, 06/14/2012 - 12:23
Hello All - I would like to edit a Tivo recording that I transferred to my PC with TiVo Desktop. Is there any way to convert it to an editable format and then upload? Any help would be appreciated...

Using TiVo Premiere Elite - Windows Vista PC

Upgrading and impact on service fees

Thu, 06/14/2012 - 11:42
So it's been a while since I've done anything TiVo. I currently have a Series2 with lifetime (which I haven't even used for over a year), and an upgraded Tivo HD system (I think I put a 1TB drive in there) for which I pay 6.95/month for.

I am looking at the Premiere and possibly the XL/elite, but am wondering how it will affect my pricing. Will my monthly go up if I replace my Tivo HD with a premiere or elite?

I may bite on something like the woot deal if it comes around again, but I'd like to know what I'm getting into beforehand :)

Final Q: Is the standard premiere box as easy to upgrade as the previous tivos? Briefly looking in the upgrade forum, it appears there is a procedure that looks straightforward. Even so, a 2tb upgraded premiere vs an elite at about the same price is no contest.

Edit: Oh geez, nevermind. I just noticed that I started getting charged 12.95/month. I will need to look into that!

Thanks!
Thomas

Quick One - clear and restore without cablecard?

Thu, 06/14/2012 - 09:57
I am planning to drop off my 2 unused cable boxes and 2 x S3 cable cards back to Comcast today.

Can I perform a clear/restore on the S3 unit without the cable cards installed?

Sold S3 but buyer has not xfr to their account?

Thu, 06/14/2012 - 07:20
I sold my S3 on Ebay about a month ago. The buyer rec'd and provided positive feedback.

Just checked my account and noticed the box is still on there. Should I call Tivo and tell them I no longer have this box?

Should I be concerned that new buyer has not activated this box on their account yet?

STOP button for Netflix, PLEASE

Thu, 06/14/2012 - 01:27
Please add a stop button for Netflix.
Or perhaps a "Menu" button.

Currently to stop watching a Netflix program I have to...
1)Press the "Tivo" button, thusly exiting Netflix
2) Scroll down to "ON demand"
3) Press "Select"
4) Press "Select" again :(
5) Wait for Neflix to load

All that just to go from a show to the Netflix menu.

Gerrrr how irritating

Lack of audio with Hulu.

Thu, 06/14/2012 - 01:18
Why do I often lack audio with Hulu??

1) Does NOT occur 100% of the time, maybe 70%
2) Yes, the volume is set correctly
3) Yes, I have audio with other features and menus.

Please advise.

Eric

Are you going to tune in to "Arrow" on the CW?

Thu, 06/14/2012 - 00:40
Smallville spinoff (or is it a prequel? :p) chronicling the adventures of Oliver Queen.

http://www.cwtv.com/shows/arrow

I'll at least check it out, but I don't think it will be the same without Justin Hartley in the lead role.

First new episodes of DALLAS 6/13/12

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 22:22
Did anyone miss the faces of the actors being flashed on the screen during the themesong and opening credits?

They gave the names, but no faces.

Is this a 21st century thing, or something?

The Killing - Should I Watch?

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 19:30
My intention is not to have spoilers in this thread. My set up/question may have a broad, generalized spoiler, however, depending on how you define a spoiler. If you haven't seen the show, proceed with caution. For those who have seen it; please - no spoilers.

I have not watched this show. I thought it looked really interesting and then about the time I was going to start watching it, the first season ended in a way that seemed to leave a lot of viewers unhappy. (I know this simply from reading headlines here and there.) So I never got around to watching. I watch other AMC shows, and it still looks like I might enjoy this show, but don't want to start if it's not worth the trouble (meaning I'll probably get frustrated with it and stop watching). I haven't heard anything, good or bad, about the second season.

I'm just curious as to whether people who have watched it, and are still watching it, would recommend it.

Why are TiVo’s on sale? Woot Elite TiVo

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 19:04
What going on? Why are the new TiVo’s on sale?

http://www.woot.com/offers/tivo-prem...=email#tracked

First Tivo reduced the price and now they are being dump by Woot. I think even Amazon reduced the price.

Could this mean:
  1. A new or better TiVo box coming out.
  2. A deal with Comcast and or Cox to use TiVo boxs.

Our Comcast digital basic changed to digital only can Tivo control 2 different boxes?

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 18:20
We have digital basic via Comcast in Nashville area

Current configuration
Main tv
Coaxial connection giving channels 1-20
Digital box Motorola DCH70 on 1 tv that gives channels 1-70ish, no on demand. Tivo series2 controls this digital box via IR blaster and the normal tivo remote.

2 other tvs
Just coaxial connection giving channels 1-20

As of today the coaxial connection no longer gives over the air cables channels.
We got for no additional installation/service charge 2 new "digital transport adapters" (DCI105COM1). This adapter has an "IR In" port.

My question, can the tivo series2 connect/control two different digital boxs or does one of the two inputs have to be a "it just works" input like a smart card, over the air, or cable over coaxial?

Considering selling HD XL w/ lifetime subscription.

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 17:41
I recently bought a Premier and am interested in selling my current Tivo.

I have a Series 3 HD 180-hr TiVo HD DVR (I think this is called HD XL?) with lifetime service. It still works fine I just live in the Boston Area and wanted to get access to On Demand through Comcast.

Is there any kind of authorized Tivo reseller, or do most people just sell on their own through Ebay or Amazon or something? What kind of price would be fair for a 180-hr HD XL with lifetime?

I appreciate any advice!

help need to upgrade 3 of 4 tivos

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 17:38
Trying to figure out the best way to 'upgrade' our TV viewing and could really use some help. Here's what we currently use:
Series 1 (new harddrive) with Lifetime
Series 2 on $6.95 monthly
Series 2 on $9.95 monthly
TivoHD with Lifetime (our main tv and the only one we currently watch in HD)

The problem is the series 1 & 2 tivos all have composite cables and I want to buy new flat TVs. I tried plugging the composite cables into component inputs on a new tv and I ended up with a black and white picture. So I started thinking I should get new tivos too. ugh.

I called tivo and the customer service rep had all sorts of options including upgrading my series 1 and/or 2 tivos to lifetime if I bought a new tivo. Not really helpful since the problem is they don't plug into anything. Or I can transfer the low monthly rates to a new machine(s). Tempting for sure. But then I stress about my cable company and cable cards and getting them to play nice . . . It's difficult to give up the Sony Series 1 with Lifetime -- but with only composite cables it's worthless, right?

ugh. My husband is no help. He hates tv and just wants to be able to use a tivo to watch baseball in his office and see the whole score on the screen (it gets cut off on the c2001 CRT tv.) This is up to me to figure out. Any thoughts or questions that will lend me some clarity?

Tivo Expander Issues

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 16:39
My Tivo Expander Issues Are weird sometimes when I am watching a recorded show, and when it is over Tivo starts playing something that the tuner was showing Prior to me playing a recorded show. the show has been over for maybe an hour or so that it starts to play. If I click the live TV button twice gets rid of the playing show.

Slide Remote Key bounce

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 15:53
The left cursor key on my slide remote has started "bouncing". One press frequently results in two key-presses. So far I haven't noticed the problem with any other keys.

Anyone else have this problem?

Minor Software Update Coming?

Wed, 06/13/2012 - 15:51
The Tivo Software Priority Request page was changed today, stating there is a minor software update coming and we can submit our TSN's for priority.

A minor software update will be available shortly. Normally, it can take up to 4 weeks for every eligible box to receive the latest software. If you want to receive your upgrade early, enter your TiVo Service Number (TSN) below to skip to the front of the line!

I tried to submit mine, but it said "already submitted". I suppose that is because mine was still on file from the spring update?
