I have multiple premieres since the fall update the remote screens accessing other premieres were a new HDUI screen. A couple of days ago one of the premieres are displaying all remotes Tivos as an SDUI screen. And when the other Tivos access it they also get an SDUI screen. Streaming, transfers and deleting shows seems to work fine and I get 80mb transfer rate.
I tried one chat with customer support ( for a few hours ) and they have no idea why this is happening...
I have recently installed tivo togo on one of my PCs, but I don't think this is an issue. I have used wireshark to see the broadcast packets and they all seem the same. And the Tivo in question can get to the internet without a problem...
I have forced manual connections and rebooted many times.
I think there was a thread where someone else ran into this problem, but I can not find the thread....
Well THAT started the season with a bang!
Is Arlo already doing Life without Parole? Because he probably will be after the altercation with the trusty.
Interesting that they are going to keep Winona a presence on the show without Natalie Zea.
Burn in Hell FX for reporting a 65 minute show as 60 and making my Tivo cut off the last 5 minutes (with some CRITICAL plot action!), Rejoice in heaven FX for having a repeat immediately after the original showing so that I could record it and pick up the missing minutes
For those of you who didn't get discover the missing 5 minutes, there is another repeat next Wednesday
Unfortunatly since my new job responsibilities, I have not been following this forum very closely. Last evening when I returned home, my wife stated the Premier box had rebooted in the middle of one of her shows and now the time (tiny as it is) now shows in the upper right corner of the screen, and when you are watching a recorded show you see where you are in the recording. Looks like the old way of having to hit the remote key combination to have the time show on my old series 2.
Was there any other updates or did my wife hit a combo of remote keys she did not know what she hit?
I've searched around and I don't see where others have brought up this problem. And to me, it seems a little different than the typical "why is this getting deleted" question.
We have a TiVo premier that admittedly has a lot of stuff on it. The amount of space used is typically around 80% to 85%. We've even seen the percentage go as high as the low 90s. But even then we've never seen the TiVo delete programs to make space. However, at some point in the last week or so the TiVo unit went on a killing spree.
The last time we paid some modicum of attention to what was in the Now Playing list was on the 29th. We had recorded both seasons of Game of Thrones but never got around to watching them. We also had the last half of the last season of The Walking Dead waiting for us. On the 28th/29th, my wife and I had a Walking Dead and GoT marathon. We finished Walking Dead and made it through all of season 1 and part way through season 2 of GoT. By the time we were done, TiVo was reporting that the space used was at about 83%.
On Monday, after watching The Daily Show (we are also backlogged on this show, but I digress) and I noticed that only 1 episode of Game of Thrones was left in the Now Playing list. On the 29th at the end of our marathon, we still had 6 or 7 left. After that caught my attention, I started looking for what else might have been missing. Paging up and and down, I noticed a few more things were gone as well (e.g. The "Pixar Shorts" that ABC Family played in 12/2011 and 12/2010 and that we recorded for the kids; the one we had was from 2010 -- not marked as "never delete" and was still around, until this mass deletion, for 2 years). Digging a little more, I ungrouped the Now Playing list and set the sort order to be by date. Doing this showed me that TiVo deleted everything on the list that was dated prior to May 30th 2012. Now our TiVo is showing as having approx 73% space left. Going to the Recently Deleted folder got me nowhere; it was completely empty.
Has anyone experienced or heard of anything like this happening? We still had plenty of space. Even going as high as the mid 90s in terms of space used, the TiVo still did not delete old programs. As I said above, it still kept our Pixar Shorts program (among others) even through all of that. The fact that it was the older programs that were deleted (so far as I can tell; we didn't have an inventory of our Now Playing list so it could be some newer ones as well) and the fact that the Recently Deleted folder was empty tells me that it seems like it was a space issue; for whatever reason, TiVo felt that it needed to free up that space. But the only programs that were recorded after 1/1 are 4 30 min kids shows and they don't take up much space. So I can't imagine that the TiVo felt that it needed to delete my old shows for that. And again, after we finished with our marathon, there was still approx 17% space left on the drive.
I know that there is no way we can get back what TiVo deleted -- we're pretty much SoL there. But I'm hoping that someone might be able to tell me *why* this happened in the first place. We're now worried that TiVo is going to start deleting the programs dated 5/30/12 and those dated 6/2012 soon. I guess that's kind of a good thing as it puts a fire under us but our trust in our TiVo has been considerably shaken.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this.
Is there really any difference in capability or accuracy between the two?
I currently use VRD to run ad detect and then manually check/fix the edits before saving and recodeing files to mp4.
Would doing the ad detection in kmttg using comskip do significantly better?

I'm looking for a Lifetime Tivo unit that is best suited for digital-to-analog conversion of OTA tv signals, which can connect to the internet, provide internet radio station listening, as well as connectivity to YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc and that also has a built-in program guide with search functions.
I have a pretty-much all analog setup with a 15" tv with 480i resolution. The tv has 2-sets of composite (Yellow, Red & White) jacks, One set of componenet (Red, Green, Blue and Red & White audio) jacks and an S-video jack.
The universal dvd player, OPPO BDP-95, is connected to the tv via the componenet jacks.
When I'm watching tv, I'd like to listen through the tv speakers. I'll be connecting the dvd player to the LF and RF 7.1 analog jacks for tv viewing, and another set of RCA's will be connected to the stereo analog jacks for cd, dvd-audio listening through the 1970's stereo receiver for music.
Is there a switch that can be utilized to connect two inputs of componenet video, one for the dvd player and the other for the Tivo, so that I can maintain a high tv and dvd video signal? If not, I'd connect the Tivo with an S-video output (Series 3?) to my tv.
I'm not conversant with the older Tivo models, just suffice to say that the new Premiere does not have S-video and I've read the digital-to-analog tv convertor was better on the previous models. That is why I'm shying away from a new unit.
The tv at 480i resolution through the componenet cables connected to the Oppo BD-P95 produces excellent picture quality. I'm very happy with that. I do notice there is a slight increase in "flicker" on type, such as FBI warning, when connected with composite video. That is greatly minimized through the component setup. I'd like to connect the Tivo through component, if, like I asked, there is a quality switching unit available to toggle between the dvd player and Tivo. If not, Tivo will be connected through S-video.
I'd also like a similar switch, so that I could toggle between playing cd/dvd-audio and internet music through my loudspeakers. Regular tv I only need through my tv speakers. Is one available? The Oppo unit produces great sound quality.
So, it appears as though the Premiere model is not for me. Is the Series 3 the previous model? I know it has an S-video output, which helps in my case. Is the interface good on that unit for the "Tv-Guide" like program menu? Does it feature internet connectivity and, if so, is it user friendly to search Netflix, YouTube, Hulu and internet radio?
Is the Series 3 what I should be looking at? Are there different models and, if so, which do you suggest? Again, I'm looking at probably having to go on eBay and buy a used version with a lifetime subscription. And, I'll always be married to Series 3 technology. Which brings me to the question of can these be repaired aftermarket? If not, can the lifetime subscription be transferred to another Series 3?
Here was the quote about the Premiere's OTA DTA convertor:
"The Tivo Premiere is a very poor OTA tuner. It especially has problems with multipath signals. This is discussed in depth on the Tivo Community forum. I have LOS to the transmitters except for a row of pine trees. I had no problem with the tuner built into my Sony TV or the previous CSEB box. The Premiere was very frustrating, so much so that I located a new but unused Tivo HD (the previous model) to use while fulfilling my commitment to Tivo. The HD model cured all related problems. I understand the previous "Tivo 3" model also handles OTA well. I would hate to see another member be so completely disappointed in the Tivo Premiere's OTA capabilities."
Reading that, I see he mentions a Tivo HD model and also the Series 3? What is the difference? Which would you suggest I purchase for my use--as outlined above?
Thanks for your help!
When I try to use qsf & ad in kmttg, kmttg changes the TiVo file to .mpg.When I try to save the file as a .tivo file after fine tuning the ad file, VRDS says: Tivo output is only supported when the source file is also a Tivo file.
How do i get kmttg to stop changing the TiVo file to mpg. If I use VAP to do qsf & ad, it makes it a .tivo file.
Hi everyone, I just have a question hopefully someone could answer for me. I used to have tivo service years back and found my old tivo box. I was wondering if there is a way to use it a cable box receiver only. I'm not looking to recorder show just to flip thru the channels with it. Want to watch tv in my man cave but don't want to get another box from my cable provider.
Once again I'm not trying steal service I just want it for a cable box receiver. Thanks in advance for any help.
Our new Premier XL has been connected for two days now and I've noticed that it hasn't been able to tune in any OTA stations both mornings that I've turned it on. It picks up OTA stations just as good as any of our tv tuners in the evening after work. We don't see a similar situation on our tv tuners as they pick up OTA as good in the mornings as they do in the evenings. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Ever since that big upgrade my live TV on TIVO has been acting a different:
1. When I have live TV saved up and the TIVO starts recording a ToDo List show, I loose all the live TV and go directly to the new recording. I used to be able to watch what had been recorded.
2. If I am Fast Forwarding on live TV, press PAUSE when at the end, it continues to play even though the status indicator shows paused. Have to press play and then pause again to be out of the indication.
What should I do?
The latest release of VRDS gets closed captions to transfer back to my Tivo Elite.:up:
I run a lot, a fair amount outdoors, but when the weather is nasty, I use the treadmill. (I'm a West Coast weather wimp.) Sometimes I read on my Kindle Fire, but lately, I've been re-watching "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains." On a long run day (~10 miles), I can get in two episodes, which is pretty sweet.
Anyway, although I watched this season when it aired, I'm having a blast re-watching it.
Just got through the episode with the double elimination, where Russell gives Parvati the hidden immunity idol, leading to Tyson's departure. AWESOME!
Although I remember who won, and kind of remember the players who made it pretty far, it turns out there's a whole lot I don't remember, like who won which challenges. Moreover, even though I remember the general Heroes and Villains arcs, it's compelling storytelling.
Finally, this season is great for watching while running on the treadmill. It's got great scenery (I mean specifically the landscape, not the players!), dramatic music, and a good deal of action. I've seen most of the seasons of "Survivor," and this remains my all-time favorite.
Which seasons do you guys like? I'm curious what other choices people have, partly to see if I should go download those seasons -- if winter lasts a while longer, I'm going to need more shows to watch!
I'm consolidating my recordings and I ran into 2 problems while transferring from one S2 to another S2.
1. The program details or synopsis doesn't get transferred, mainly the prgm # and original first time trans date.
2, Lately can't get the same prgms to bunch together. They are recorded individually.
I hope I expressed myself fairly understandably . The drives i all of them are already replaced, they used to work ok, as far as item 2 is concerned.
Thanks in advance !
I did some searches for this issue and could not find anything remotely similar. I am sure I am not the only one with this issue though.
Occasionally, I will delete a show from my "now playing" list (within a folder of shows for a season pass), and the 1,2 or 3 other shows in that folder will also delete.
Sometimes I can get them back by going into the "recently deleted" folder and restore the program, then all the others will come back. Sometimes, this does not work and I only get back the original program.
This behavior is not terribly common.. maybe happening once a month or so. It is just strange and irritating.
Anyone else experience this problem, and better yet, have or know of a solution? =)
futon lists last season as 2 and then starting this year it appears to be season 5?
i thought this was strange so checked out some torrent listings and apparently at least somewhere else S 5 has been shown
so are there any missing seasons between 2 and 5? just wondering why futon would be so far off
one million dollars! oh my mister wonderful had a field day there. i was shocked masks are worth that much to someone. must be in the licensing deals. wish the presenter cleaned off his nose, didnt look so good just keeping that bit on him
2 bucks per tent when they cost about 5 or 6 to make seems a bit high to me? could kev really think he would get that? the dura tent name was stupid though and his reasoning for keeping it that name was wrong.
also the name of the kids shampoo should be changed, i understand why the presenter wanted it to be 'higher class' looking but sometimes you need to stay with the fun kids stuff for it to be popular. i do think the labeling had a sort of snob appeal
beer video...buzzzzzzz...wow even i knew that was bad. not worth discussing
i do like the flashbacks and i'm glad the squirrel girls are doing well.
One thing I find quite frustrating is that the actual box and online/web UI do not sync in a timely fashion.
I have recordings made yesterday and STILL do not appear in https://www3.tivo.com/
... MY SHOWS
It would be nice if there were a button on the website that could ping the box and force update the lists. Yes, I know one can physically go to the box and do it that way (Settings/Network/Connect) but it should not be so difficult.
Even an option for automatically updating once an hour or something would be better than the (seemingly) once every 24 hours it takes the two to sync.
