I have a Tivo Series 3/HD box and just downloaded the Tivo app for iOS. So far, I think it's a great app. However, I can't schedule any recordings from the app. Every time I attempt to schedule a show to record I get the following error:
Error response from IT: code: 1005, text: Partner not authorized to do this operation.
Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what I can do? This app has a much better interface for looking up shows and scheduling recordings than doing it with the remote. I'd LOVE to use it.
FYI, I ensured that I tested it with programs that I can schedule without issue using the remote and the Tivo box itself.

Through Tuesday, I had no problem accessing Xfinity On Demand on my TiVo Premiere in Oakland, CA. Some time before Thursday evening, I seem to have lost access, getting an error box referencing a GSM-2 error (see attached image). Are other people in the Bay Area also seeing this error?
Some reports last month indicated that this error had occurred quite widely around Denver, Colorado and, after much troubleshooting, the resolution was totally internal to Comcast.

At first I thought I was loosing it. I would set up a recording and then check later on and the recording was not there, then I said did I record or forget to do it. This has gone on for a while now. Well today I set up a recording on FX doing it online and I decide to check it later and was it not there, so I said to myself, it was probably conflicting with another program, so it did not take the recording, which I was correct. So later on I decided to delete a recording from the To Do List, and set up my recording on FX again, so now I know I had it set up, I actually set up 2 recordings on FX. So now I know I did do it, I checked and know I had recorded the 8 PM show, so at 10:10 PM I decided to check and it was not recorded I said WTF, I saw both lights red and recording. Umm OK I will record it at midnight, but now I know the 10 PM show on the same channel is recording, I see it recording in the to do list, so I go watch one of my other shows that was already recorded. Now I am done watching that show, I go to the show I know I just recorded on FX as I saw it recording, and it is not there. Now I am saying am I loosing it, so I said I bet I know what happened and I was correct. what happens is sometimes certain channels simply stop working, I don't know why, but they do and I don't know unless I actually go and check the channel, so when I decide to check FX it was black, so it stopped working. I usually have to go to the back of the Tivo, pull the M Card and then re insert it and 15 seconds later those channel come right back it. So now we know why some of my shows were not recording all this time. my question is, why does it do that and why not on all channels, and has this happened to anyone one else before ?, could it be a Comcast signal issue, so if the digital signal is not strong the those tiers those channels go out ?? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, is there a way of checking the signal on certain channels ? I have two series 2 units that connect over my wireless network. Problem I have is that our wireless network runs off our cell phones. So is only operational when we are here (evenings). Tivo choses to connect to the internet at random intervals. Is there any way to set that to happen during the night when we are here and our internet is on? I hate when it tries to connect during the day and we are not here and therefore our internet connection is not on.
I've been with Dish Network for quite a while and I've even tried their new "Hopper" DVR but it's really not that great. The interface is a bit slow (although the guide is pretty fast), it lacks a lot of features, and has a lot of bugs.
So... I'm thinking about switching to Comcast and getting a TiVo unit.
The Premiere XL4 looks the most appealing but my main concern is the speed of the UI, especially the guide.
I know they increased the speed in the spring (by enabling dual core), but I've heard the guide in the Premiere XL4 is still extremely slow and lots of people use the SDUI because of that. If it really is that bad I probably will wait for a newer TiVo model because the SDUI is really, really outdated at this point.
Does anybody have a video of the HDUI on the Premiere XL4? How does it compare to the Hopper or other Dish Network DVRs?
Can anybody else give me any other honest advice about the TiVos?
(I already know that Comcast quality in my area is pretty good, and probably better than Dish so that's really not a factor)

I am having an issue deleting recordings with KMTTG on the TiVo and receiving the "findRecordingId failed to find a match" error. This error still occurs after doing a Refresh.
On the same TiVo I am able to delete other recordings from KMTTG without issue.
The name of the recordings that are not being deleted by KMTTG have a accent on one of the letters as in:
Abismo de Pasión
Is it possible that the accent over the o is having KMTTG encounter the error? Is there a workaround with the current version if this is the case?
The writers continue writing this show as if Michael Scott were still the manager. Michael (sorry, Andy) sends Toby (sorry, Nelly) on a wild goose chase of busy work, through which he discovers he's related to Michelle Obama and decides he should act like her (especially in ways that match the racial stereotypes associated with her race). He then is informed as to why a white guy might be related to Michelle Obama and completely overcompensates (again, with racial stereotypes), and also lashes out at his coworkers so they all feel badly about their heritage instead of just him. But he means well.
The bit with Asian Jim at the beginning had me laughing hysterically.

Because of a digital transition at my cable company, I had to get a cable box from them... the Motorola one.
So I have set up my Tivo2 to use the IR channel changing, and the setup works fine, the tests pass and the Tivo seems to be able to change the channels on the cable box.
However, when watching live TV, when I change the channel on the TiVo remote, it changes the Tivo from 3 to 4 (or 2) and loses the cable signal which apparently is on channel 3. The channel on the cable box does NOT change.
Given that the TiVo seems to be aware of how to change cablebox channels during the tests, why isn't it doing so the same way when I am watching? Also, when I set up recordings, same thing. It changes the TiVo channel and not the cablebox channels (so I know it's not a remote control thing). I go thru the channel-changing setup and all it does is run the tests and says it knows how, but not that it will actually do so, so is there a setting I am missing?
OK, I have a new Tivo Premiere (the base $150 model) coming from Amazon along with the Tivo N (more expensive) wireless adaptor. I want to be ready to "rock & roll" when the delivery arrives so I would like to get some questions answered before hand......
I believe the Tivo has two tuners and two cable card slots. Will we be ok with one cable card? I don't believe my wife would use both tuners, but what would be the advantage (with two cable cards)? We have Comcast Xfiinity cable......
I know I will have to go online to Tivo to purchase a subscription. I will start with the year subscription for $15 a month. Should I do that first before hooking up the box?
Basically I know I will need to establish the Tivo subscription, activate the cable card with Comcast and setup my wireless connection. In what order should I do these things?
I have comcast, and reasonably happy with the service provided, however I am starting to notice more and more digital breakups\freezes during prime time. And the other night I was unable to watch ESPN Monday Night football, however a few minutes after the game is was over, the channel appeared (game was not blacked out in Seattle) .
As Comcast and other cable companies switch to 100% digital channels, are they having problems meeting customer bandwidth demand during peak hours, such as evening hours or during popular sporting events?

Hi - I have been using kmttg for a a few years now but recently got a new pc
I loaded kmttg (copied from old pc) and this worked fine but I discovered that I need tivo desktop plus installed in order to play tivo files with windows media player - so I reloaded this on my new pc
tivo desktop plus works fine but I prefer kmttg
since loading the tivo desktop plus
I get the following message when I try to download a file

In the past I used the tivo beacon but the bonjour connection now works better on this pc for tivo desktop plus
I changed the sttings in the kmttg options so that it does not use the beacon now but no improvement
What am I missing?

Having problems getting optical audio signal from TV to DAC when on HD channels . The DAC adjusts to the signal coming into it ,but it wont for HD

I need a new TiVo remote. I had just the standard peanut remote. I always thought the glo feature was a good idea. Is the glo feature just as robust on the slide remote as the standard glo remote? Is there a reason not to get the slide other than the extra expense.
And the back story . . .
Four nights ago I was watching TV. I know I was using the TiVo remote. My wife asked me to check Facebook for any news about the daughter of a close friend who was in labor. (Was there a baby yet?)
(Thank you TiVo for letting us pause live TV. Remember when that was a novel idea? but I digress.)
I went upstairs to tell her no and went back down stairs to continue watching TV. No remote. In the span of probably less than 10 minutes the remote disappeared. I was very conscious of where I was during this time. We have searched high and low. No %@)#$%*)#$( Tivo Remote.
Fortunately I had the Droid app and a Logitech remote so we can watch TV. But after four days of no remote, I have decided to indulge and buy one of the glo remotes that I have been eyeing for a long time.
