I just find this mind boggling. The biggest deal in reality show HISTORY? I have incredibly low standards and I don't even watch the Kardashians. Apparently a LOT of people do though... Wow. Fake a wedding, cash in... Fake dating Kanye, Cash in. What CAN'T these people make money off of? :D
The E! Entertainment network said Tuesday it had reached a deal with its most bankable franchise to make three more seasons of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." TMZ reports the family will be paid over $40 million for the 3 seasons, making the deal the richest contract in reality TV history.
I have a Series 3 Tivo with lifetime, stuck at the 'Welcome Powering Up' screen and I can't get to the kickstart menu (the lights never go off), so it might not be the drive. I hate my cable company (cablecard nightmare stories) and just use analog and OTA.
I have two Series 2's in other rooms on MSD my wife uses. I have an older component (1080i) tv. I think my options are:
1). Call Tivo and see what they will do. Another thread indicates I might get offered a Premiere and transfered lifetime for $270 ish...
2). Keep the Series 2's (MSD dies if s3 doesn't call home?) and just get a box to convert digital OTA to analog (ugh). Can't find any QAM tuners that do component out currently. Use that + basic. No time shifting.
3). Cut the cord?? Just use basic...
4). Get a new tv, maybe a mac mini and use eye tv. $$$$
5). Sigh. Get a cable co dvr...
6). Something else...
What would you do?
A message just popped up on the screen while my wife was watching her soaps asking if we wanted to record what was on Xfinity on Demand (Chan 1).
Nothing was on Chan 1 (not authorized), so I figure some Comcast engineer sent a signal down accidentally. And it looks like Comcast just might be prepping Houston for the service.
Anyone else see anything like that?
So for some reason the deal the have currently going for existing customers was sweet enough to pull the trigger on an XL4 today. Will be replacing the 5month old Premier XL in the living room with it.
Any advice on smooth transition?
**also will sell this 2TB Premier once I swap them out so if anyone is looking for a lifetime Premier, let me know.
Hi all, wondering if I just got bad info from the fios rep I just talked to, or of there is any truth to this:
I currently have 3 Tivo's. A Series 3 HD and a Premiere using Cable cards, and a Series 2 using a Verizon owned Motorola QID-2500 SD STB, with channel changing via the serial cable. Today, to take advantage of Tivo's free wireless n adapter deal, I purchased a new 75 hour Premiere to replace the aging Series 2. I called 1800-Verizon to order a cable card for the new Premiere, and to arrange return of my Motorola STB. The rep said she would gladly send me a cable card, but that I could not return the STB (or even disconnect it permanently and just throw it in the closet) as she claimed in order for Fios to work properly, I needed to have a minimum of one STB connected to the network. I told her I didn't care about the on demand stuff, and knew I'd be giving that up, but she insisted I needed to keep at least one box connected, or "It won't work." I pressed her to find out what exactly what "wouldn't work," and she basically said nothing will work unless the STB remained in service because the box periodically communicates with their network, and if it didnt check in, the service would stop working properly. Basically, she just kept insisting every customer needs at least one STB hooked up at all times.
This sounds kind of outlandish to me. Anyone out there have fios working without any STB in their house?
I am considering purchasing a Tivo and was hoping I could get some answers as to what is and is not possible with Tivo. In the past I have used PC based PVR solutions like Snapstream and SageTV. They worked well but came with their own issues (crashes, configuration, etc ..). I am now at a point where I do not want to build another PC/Mac system to serve as a dedicated PVR.
I am planning on purchasing cable for specific channels, such as Biography, History Channel, TLC, and the Military channel. What I am wondering is what channels does Tivo prevent you from exporting?
1. Can you record and export a Pay per View event?
2. Can you record and export cable TV channels like "History Channel", "Discovery", and "Military Channel"?
3. Is there a way to determine what channels/shows can be exported and which ones cannot?
When I say export I mean the ability to transfer the show to an external hard drive where I can edit/convert as necessary with my PC/Mac.
Thank you for any help!
I was just wondering what everybody thinks about the quality of the Level One TiVo Tech Support when calling 1-877-367-8486 ?
I just purchased a new TiVo Premiere box and had some bad experiences with Tech Support giving me bad advice. Not sure if this is typical or not. Please reply with both positive and negative experiences.
Two opening sex scenes and both seemed like awful scenarios for the Girls. And Shoshanna whose favorite show is Sex and the City is a virgin.
I can hear Hannah explaining to her parents why she still doesn't have a job - I screwed the interview by calling the guy a date-rapist.
"It hurts but only in the way it's supposed to"
Just got a series 2 TIVO for free with lifetime subscription, it has an 80GB drive in it so I wanted to back it up and restore it to a 250GB Western Digital IDE drive I have available. I loaded WinMFS 9.3beta, plugged the Maxtor into a USB to IDE adapter (changed it to master), it doesn't seem to see the drive, I even tried different jumper settings. My desktop is 100% SATA so removing a drive in the machine to do it is not possible. Any suggestions so I can back this up and change it to the 250GB drive? I'm a noob, but computer literate.
An interesting mix of real and surreal. I am hoping they wrap this up in the next episode.
After all of my disliking her, I got the feeling that Bev may be turning against her project after that twist at the end. She didn't look very happy about what was done. Holly being killed sucks, she was a great partner for Fargo and a fun character.
All those people bringing pieces of parts to the sheriff's office reminded me of an earlier episode. How could they do that and not expect someone to squeal to the feds about it.
Wilson has cancer. I think the series will end with House committing suicide.
Wow, what a great episode. I never thought they could put a Bollywood number in this show but they made it work, AND it was great! It was a complete "burst into song" moment, but I didn't mind.
The only thing I didn't like was Karen getting screwed out of that song at the end. She got a text from a random person and went home? Why not go up and watch, learn, grow? Especially since you're Derek's favorite at the moment.
Yes, I want Ellis gone. What a little snake bastard.
This is one of the few shows that ends and I didn't realize an hour had gone by. They really keep it moving.
My TiVo (Humax Series 2, with DirecTV channels through separate receiver) is missing large amounts of guide data on many of the channels. It seems to vary, but the data in most cases seems to be missing starting after 4-4:30 pm this Thursday (4/26), and the schedule doesn't resume until sometime Saturday afternoon.
I've already made one forced phone connection to the service today, as well as allowing the already-scheduled call to go through, but it doesn't seem to fix the missing data.
My mother also has a Series 2 (not Humax), but the guide data on her machine seems to be intact. We're both aware of the 8-day limit in guide data we're now receiving because of the satellite lineup (I found the reason why the limit on this site, thanks to this community).
Needless to say, this is affecting several Season Passes this week. I really appreciate any help you can give me.
Wow, CeeLo has a strong team. Both choices were pretty easy imo.
This started sometime today. I have noticed several threads I am subscribed to get replies without sending me email notifications. I remember this happening a while back relating to gmail addresses. Not sure if its the same thing or something else.
I have two Tivos that start up but then either crash during start up or loop. I realized I could replace the hard drives and fix but I can't be bothered. (I live alone and have another box...plus I thinking about giving up on Tivo.) They both have service agreements on them so I thought I might try to sell them to someone who does feel like fixing them. Any advice on starting prices. (I could start at $1 but honestly, it's not worth the trouble for me to package and ship...I'd just toss them first.) I looked on ebay but I didn't see anything similar (broken.)
One is an old series 2 Toshiba RS-TX20 DVD-R/DVD-RW...these came with a lifetime "basic" service. (4 day programming)
The other is a Series 3 HD with lifetime service.
I haven't posted here in quite awhile because I haven't changed my setup in a really long time...the following experience is a prime example of why I really hate calling D* for any reason:
D* finally began offering my locals in HD - I had 'moved' to Denver many years ago so I could get their locals over the satellite (SD only) - so a couple weeks ago I decided I would 'move' back home and take advantage of the local channels now available to me.
After 2+ hours on the phone with 2 different CSRs AND tech support, they could not get my locals to activate. It was getting late, and I was tired, so I told them I would call back in a day or two.
I go online the next day and check my account - my install address was STILL in Denver - they didn't even change it! No wonder my locals channels weren't working. 2 hours of my life I'll never get back.
So, a few days ago, I had finally worked up enough courage to call D* and try again - this time, they succesfully 'moved' me and my local channels are working great (although they are HD only, essentially turning my two SD D*Tivos into boat anchors).
I then ordered one HD DVR and one HD Tivo DVR - the HD DVR was free since my locals are HD only, but the Tivo DVR cost me $199 no matter how much I complained.
During the order process, the CSR had some major difficulties getting my order to go through - she submitted and cancelled it multiple times before it finally 'took' - this took a little over an hour just to order two new boxes.
I go and look at my D* account the next day, and I was charged 5 times, but it was refunded 4 times - so I'm all good there.
THEN, I go check my credit card online, and I've been charged $443 from Directv!
Awww, carp...now I've gotta call them again??? More time on the phone I'll never get back.....<sigh>
So I call this morning and got a very nice, very intelligent CSR for once - she took care of the credit card charge (yet to be confirmed with my CC online though), and I asked her if my receivers had shipped yet - "yes, you should be getting them tomorrow" - GREAT!
I go home for lunch today, and what do you think was waiting on the porch for me?? Not two boxes from D* but FOUR boxes! TWO Tivos and TWO HD DVRs....
I go inside and tell my wife that if I have to call D* again to return these extra boxes I think my head is gonna explode...I really have had enough of this and just want it to end.
So, after all this, my question to you guys is: aside from giving me some bad karma, what would happen if I just kept the two extra DVRs? And, can I use them?
For anyone with a season pass to "Young Justice" on Cartoon Network -- the new season starts on Saturday (April 28) and the show has a new name. My old season pass was not picking up the new season because of this change.
New show name is "Young Justice: Invasion".
Anybody watching this show?
It's like Dog the Bounty Hounter but with attitude.
I was amazed at the different laws that Louisiana must have than other states: If they can confirm the fugitive is in a house, they can legally enter the house by any means (from what I understood).
These guys are also armed to the hilt and dress like a SWAT team.
