Just received my Premiere Elite one week ago and immediately started setting up Season Passes for my most favorite shows. My Season Pass Settings are for First Run Only, now labeled "New Only" on this latest model TIVO. After setting up 20 or so Season Passes I took a look in the "To Do List" and was amazed to see absolutely nothing. Not one show was scheduled to record.
I called TS and they had me do the usual restart, force a guide data update, and finally do a complete new guided setup. All of these measures failed to fix the problem.
The only way to get anything to show up in the To Do List was to change my Season Pass selection of "New Only" to "New & Re-Runs".
I finally discovered the cause of the error. The guide information had all "New" shows listed as having First Aired the previous day! This First Aired information is always at the end of the guide info in grey text as opposed the program description which is in white text. Even though the guide info labeled the shows as "NEW", this additional information, "First Aired" on the previous date, caused the Season Pass Recordings with "New Only" setting to be passed over.
Has anyone with a new Tivo Premiere Elite had this same problem or is it a problem with just my unit?
Additional information: I have a Tivo Series 3 setup right next to my new Tivo Elite and the guide information on the Series 3 does not have the same guide information error. The Series 3 records all Season Passes with the "First Run Only" setting just fine. So the problem is not from my local cable company and is inherent only in my new Tivo Premiere Elite.
I have a Premiere Elite in my room about 20 feet away in my living hooked up recording most, if not all of my shows. That is on my network via Ethernet. I have another Premiere box on my network with the original Tivo Wireless G adapter.
Lately, at least 3-5 times in the past week or so, while trying to watch a show that either presently recording, or previously recorded, the TiVo will sometimes make the screen go blank, and then spontaneously just reboots. It's the oddest thing. I thought about a long ethernet cord to my bedroom, but not sure.
Sometimes audio/video is choppy, but for most parts just works, but the rebooting when trying to watch another show on another TiVo is annoying. I want to make this work, this is a Premiere with a PLS. Has this happened to anyone else?
Christina gave 50 points to both contestants (Chris and Lindsey)
Audience voted 54 to 46 in favor of Chris
Chris wins by a score of 104 to 96
Adam scored it 60 - 40 in favor of Tony
Audience voted 52 - 48 in favor of Katrina
Tony wins by a 108 to 92 margin
Blake gave 50 points to both contestants (Jermaine and Erin)
Audience voted 73 - 27 for Jermaine
Jermaine wins by a 123 - 77 margin
CeeLo scored it 60 -40 in favor of Juliet over Jamar
Audience voted 61 - 39 in favor of Juliet
Juliet wins by a 121 - 79 margin
- Adam was the only judge whose scoring affected the actual outcome.
- In my opinion Jermaine was not good enough to justify that margin.
- I give CeeLo credit for not doing a 50/50 split again this year
- Second year in a row Christina and Blake played it straight down the middle. I respect them a little less for that.
In other notes:
I can't believe Dia Frampton has a rap section in the middle of her new song. Based on her style last year I never would have guessed it.
I rather liked Vicki Martinez's song.
No love for the Breakout Kings, huh?
Got into this show when I came across a marathon a couple of months ago and saw T-Bag... Caught up on season one before two started and enjoyed the crap out of it. I think they do a good job blending the case-of-the-week stuff (which is better than most shows COW stories) with the over-arcing character stories... This season was much better having Damian lurking as a season-long villain. I like the way that played out and put Lloyd in the position it put him in.
I thought the finale was awesome--pulled together pieces from all throughout the season and paid them off in ways I thought were cool. I really didn't expect Ray to push Damian off the roof, and I think the way the ended the season--with the Cons given the chance to get out of jail free if they rat Ray out--was awesome. Lots of conflict...
Can't wait for next season (assuming there is one... which I am...)
I have an extra drive bracket for an S1 available. It should have all the screws and grommets present. $1 + s/h. No paypal however.
Hello Everybody! It's great to be here. I just love talking about television (and movies) so I look forward to brisk, enlightening convo here !
There is going to be a Presidential Address by President Obama, this Tuesday Evening at 7:30 pm EDT / 6:30 CDT from Afghanistan (after his surprise visit there).
It's not supposed to affect Prime Time programming, but you never know. You have been fore-warned to pad your programs.
Trip and Presidential Address
I make no other commentary just give out information.
is there hope that the free refurbished Tivo is offered again soon? also the ad's on side still show the offer that is expired.
Another TiVo user prompted me privately to check my DNS which was configured to my default ISP (Bright House Networks). Using GRC's fanatastic DNS Benchmark Freeware tool, I discovered that my default DNS was unreliable. I reconfigured my DIR-655 router to use Sunbelt Software's DNS and voila, my Premiere user interface (HDUI) speed had a tremendous improvement. My waits for filling in program information when navigating My Shows improved significantly.
GRC's Freeware DNS Benchmark download page --> http://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm
Below is a snapshot of my DNS Benchmark results. I encourage you'll to give it a shot. You'll see that Sunbelt Software was one of only a few DNS' providers that had all green results running the Benchmark.
I have what I believe is a rare TIVO TSHIRT!!!
Would anyone be interested in having me post it on eBay?
It was given to me at CES about 10 years ago and I decided to keep it in the original packaging. It is an XL size and basically in perfect condition.
Please let me know if you have interest?
I purchased a new Tivo Premiere and a WD EURS 2gb drive and was reading thru the upgrade guide... I've done old series 2 upgrades, so I'm fairly familiar with the process but did come across one thing that I was curious about.
Supersizing. I scanned thru some posts that showed up in the upgrade center forum, but most that I found were posts from back in 2009. I also tried 'googling' and that's where I came up with some conflicting info. Basically, what I read is that the space removed by the supersizing process is not only used for the ads (bleh), but also for downloaded content from youtube and other services. Can anyone else confirm this?
If the other services do use that segment, I have no problem leaving it the way it is and sacrifice some recording time, otherwise if it's just ads, well... then "Supersize me!"
Thanks for any info!
Yay! The Eureka Matrix arc is done! Jo and Jack are not in love, Kevin is not in College, Andy is okay and all is almost right with the world.
I liked the Senator Bitch caught in a loop at the end. I hope she is somewhere that she can't be found. Ever. Though, her being missing may raise some eyebrows towards Eureka.
Enjoyed the episode and how they got it all together. The scene with Zane and Jack in the woods was my favorite. The Zane actor is great with facial expressions and you saw it all click as Jack was babbling incoherently and trying to remember what he wrote on his hand. I had been missing that Jack.
Last week they referenced a hat that the Veep wore during the campaign and called it one of her greatest mistakes. It made me want to see a photo or flashback of it. This week she mentioned eating a phallic food and said she wouldn't make that mistake again. So add that to my list.
Hogf&cker is my new favorite word.
I need to check out more stuff by Armando Iannucci.
Jonah, the guy from the white house is my favorite character.
Yet ANOTHER happy Direct Tv user with an R10 that isn't getting local channels.
I upgraded a while back, adding a larger disk. I'm reading that I now need 6.4a for this thing to work correctly.
Can someone tell me WHICH of the downloads I need from here to just get the upgrade? I don't care about the other stuff, or Instacake (whatever that is), just want to do a (hopefully) simple upgrade to 6.4a so the stinking guide will work correctly.
I sent a question to the store and got a form email back, but I can't even log in to see my "ticket", so I'm not sure how to proceed.
For $10 it's worth downloading. If it's the $40 thing I may as well let Weaknees do all the work for me for the extra $10.
After many years away, I am returning to Tivo on Wednesday. Switching from Dish Network to Comcast and getting a Premier XL4. Very excited.
Have a quick question about the slide remote. I will be using my universal remote (learning RF remote with IR repeater in the cabinet) for almost everything, but I am planning to also pick up a Tivo Slide for typing.
Am I correct that I can leave the Bluetooth receiver for the Slide plugged in to my Tivo, but still control the box with IR from my universal remote for all functions other than typing? I assume that will work, but wanted to confirm.
WTF?!?! Derek banging Uma came completely out of left field. I mean, yeah, we know he's supposed to be a sleaze in general, but there was absolutely zero setup for that to happen.
And I didn't think it possible, but the actor playing Shrek and Grace's son is actually becoming a worse actor over the course of the season.
Somebody remind me... I know that Karen's boyfriend doesn't know who Ivy is, but does Ivy know who Karen's boyfriend is? Is she targeting him on purpose?
I don't how this series will fare over the long haul, but this ep seems to have captured the mostly ceremonial nature of the V.P.'s job. My favorite part was after the discovery that POTUS wasn't actually suffering a heart attack, how quickly the situation room cleared. It wasn't LOL funny, but certainly was entertaining.
"Sue, did the President call?"
F*ck point you."
What if they remade the series "Hazel", with Rosie O'Donnel or Roseanne as the title character? (While we're at it, can you think of anyone else who could approach the sometimes shrill nature of Shirley Booth?)
I've got what seems like it ought to be a common situation, but I've not seen any answers after a bit of searching.
My TiVo Premiere had a problem with the 1T hard drive. It was replaced (actually reformatted) under warranty and I've not fired it up yet. I would like to make some sort of copy of it so I have the ability to replace the drive myself if it ever fails.
My first thought was to copy it to a spare drive I have around (40-80G) while shrinking the partitions for programs. I'd make sure it worked in the TiVo (with little room to record anything), then keep it as the backup. If I ever needed to use it, I'd use jmfs to copy to a new drive, then resize it. Sounded pretty straightforward to me.
My problem is I'm not finding any solutions for doing the copy to a smaller drive. I set up Ubuntu on a system, but it doesn't like most of the partitions on the TiVo drive. I read about copying programs online, but not finding any that will work with the Premiere to a smaller drive.
Though I spend my days doing just about anything with Windows, I'm not a Linux guy at all. I can learn, though, with some good advice! That was the direction I was going with Ubuntu, but didn't get very far.
I tried gparted, but it read the drive as being unpartitioned.
I can see all the partitions in Windows (with LinuxReader, I believe), but several are not readable.
Any suggestions on how to back up this drive to an image file or a small drive for safekeeping?
