I have 3 TiVo primer dvr's. all 3 have cable cards. HBO only works on one tv
The living room tv use to work and stopped working like 6 months ago. Have have tried 3 different cable cards in the living room and Verizon cannot make HBO work
The master bedroom HBO has always worked. This is the only TV HBO works on.
My son's room we just installed and HBO wont work in there. Not really a big deal because I would have blocked it anyway. I was just hoping if it did work I could have swapped that unit into the living room.
Verizon is now reporting this issue is a TiVo problem. Any one else having this issue?
The master bedroom TiVo is on software 220.127.116.11-01-2-746
The living room is on software 18.104.22.168-01-2-746
My son's room is on software 22.214.171.124-01-2-746
All 3 are running the same software so not sure why one would work and the others don't if its a TiVo issue
I know tivo instructions say, "pause a tuner" before switching tuners. Here's what I think is a problem. If I switch tuners without pausing and immediately return to the first tuner it has jumped ahead to live TV. I'm convinced the old software remained at the last playing spot (actually moved ahead the amount of time I was on second tuner). Is this the programed action or is this a change? If a change, it is a very bad one.
A second problem is watching a program with a delay (say 15mins) and without warning the program ends and jumps to a record scheduled programs if both tuners are required to record the schedule. Again, I thought the old software would allow you to finish watching whatever time was left on the program before it reached the scheduled recording time. E.g. if you had 15 mins of delay playback left, you could watch that even thought 2 programs were being recorded. There was at least a question about the upcoming recording.
I just got my Tivo today.
I'm looking through various sports programs, such as the Australian Open (tennis).
How do I tell if an upcoming broadcast will be a live broadcast or not?
I know the entire tournament is on ESPN 2, but I think the To Do list on my Tivo is going to record both live broadcast and the tape-delayed broadcasts.
I have a DirecTV HD TiVo that I upgraded to from the basic DirecTV HD DVR as soon as the TiVo became available last year. I am getting a Multiswitch problem message when selecting some (but not all) of the music channels (and only the music channels). I have not found any threads that seem to address this specific issue. Anyone have any ideas?
I would like to send my brother a 2 hour program (app. 15 gb) that I have already transferred to PC using Tivo Desktop ver 2.8.3.
Can I just copy it to a flash drive and send it out?
Or, will I need to convert it in any way for him to play back on his computer?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
I just got a Tivo.
I've been searching for various shows and adding them to my season pass.
I just tried searching for "Celebrity Apprentice", but no show comes up.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Will it find the new season when it starts airing in March 2013?
Hello, my wife is cleaning out one of the rooms in our house, and asking me to identify some stuff, and tell her if we need it or not. One thing she handed me puzzles me, as I don't recognize what it is, or what it's for.
I have a feeling it something that is used with her Series 2 TiVo, so that's why I thought I pose my question in this forum. It's a cable and on one end is an ethernet adapter, and the other is a USB adapter. In other words, you could plug one end of the cable into an ethernet port, and the other end could be plugged into a USB port.
Does this sound familiar to anybody?
I'm still very confused. We bought the Stream and the Moca adapter from TIVO. Each has instructions but they don't show both together. I made a crude drawing of my network below.
I have cable internet coming into my office/spare room. It goes into my cable modem and then to my wireless adapter. That broadcasts a signal to all my devices (laptops, iPads, and my TIVO wireless-N adapters).
In my living room I have cable TV coming in from the wall and into the TIVO box. The box has a dual cable card in it. Wireless N adapter is hooked up to the TIVO.
As I see it I would need to install a Moca adapter in my office/spare room directly connected to the modem and use the filter.
I assume I also need a Moca adapter installed in my living room hooked up to the TIVO itself.
Assuming those are correct....where does the Stream hook up? In my office or the living room? If it's the office does that mean both the Moca adapter and the Stream need to connect to the back of my wireless router?
I'm so confused I'm about ready to return all my Stream equipment.
Well it looks like some people are just doomed to make the same mistakes over and over.
Either that or Zeke is just a glutton for punishment. Imagine hiring Emily for another season after she demonstrated that her greatest talent was "Drama Queen".
If Verne and Scott don't come to blows again I'll be surprised.
Did I see correctly that the Christine Rose is still relying on "rowing" with the bucket rather than actually proceeding under power?
With all the dredgers being in hock up to their eyeballs I'm not sure I understand Gold Fever.
Someone posted this (see below in the” ”) in one of the sites I belong to on fb but I just don't get how/if it would work for me since I don't have cable. I have internet (for my netflix and hulu) and just have basic tv. But I would like something that could record shows I watch on tv since a lot of times I miss them.
”FREE Lifetime service for TIVO.Yes, no monthly charge, EVER! However the cost of buying DVR box is $150. we recently changed to Directtv dvr's and have no use for this. But TIVO is giving me until 1/20/13 to either gift or resell before we cancel completely. ANYONE?”
And I have also found out out is a tivo series 2 model # TCD540040. I don't know of that matters but thought I should give all the info I have on it
Please help me decide
Need some help. Moca works with other TiVo, XL4 works with wireless. But wont connect with Moca. What are the proper connections with a tuning card involved? I have tried a splitter between the wall and tuning card, with one branch going right to the XL4 box.
And doesn't the tuning card need to be connected to the TiVo, too?
Is the Glo remote always visible in the dark? I am thinking of purchasing the remote for my Premiere because I can never find the standard one in a dark room.
Or does the remote only "GLO" when a button is pressed?
Since all previous versions of this question are more than 2 years old, I'm hoping that there has been some technology improvement on the simple answer of "no".
Can I use the TiVo Stream to stream content (not transfer) to my MacBook Pro laptop? I just want to watch some shows while I'm working. Will I have to use my iPad? It seems crazy that I can stream to my iPad but not to my laptop.
Tivo Premiere XL4

As you can see from my signature I have a VERY old DirecTivo as my main DVR in my living room. I have a newer one in the guest bedroom. Regardless of the reasons for this setup my DSR6000 has become very stubborn about recording new shows. In addition, shows that we used to record regularly have stopped recording.
I've checked, but will be happy to check and report again, my signal strength and tuners. I think I might be at a point...stop laughing...to upgrade my gear. In fact, I called DTV on Thursday thinking that they might sweeten the deal for me to upgrade to HD but no dice. Maybe there is a secret code I have to give them or something. Just kidding.
Why would my DVR stop recording shows and what is the secret to getting a good deal on an upgrade? I held out for years waiting for Tivo and DTV to get back together again for the new DirectTivo but it may not have been worth the wait right?
Need: To have the minimum of a dumb dvr that can decode and pass to a monitor HD OTA signals. Basically using it as a OTA tuner.
Want: Ability to record anything would be nice, having the 30 minute buffer would be neat, ability to set time and channel to record would be great.
Situation: Think boat anchored in a bay of a large city or a nasty jail cell in a third world country. NO access to internet or phone connection, not even access to a cell phone, essentially NO way to communicate with the outside world other than listening to the OTA signals they send out, lifetime subscription NOT available.
I can take the TIVO unit to a land connection for initial guided setup, but after that, it will never be able to connect again.
With the needs, wants and situation given, will a Tivo S3, HD/XL or Premier/XL be able provide? Any other caveats I may be over looking? If there is something cheaper than a Tivo, that accommodates the given parameters, please shout out. I can find a Tivo on Amazon.com referbed or used for under $100, new less than $250. It just seams most other capable options are in excess of $400.
Just upgraded to the XL4 this Christmas and this is my only issue.
If I try to delete a group in My Shows with the clear key I will get the confirmation prompt. Once I select Delete Now I'll get the X next to group name. If I do nothing the X will stay there indefinitely. If I exit My Shows when I return the folder icon is next to the group I tried to delete and all the shows are still there. I can open the group and delete the shows individually with the clear key, but I want my group delete back!
I did a reboot and it fixed it temporarily, but by the next morning, the problem has reemerged. Suggestions?
Series 3, HD & Premier: OTA only;
There doesn't seem to be a "add channel" option where one can add OTA channels that were not in the initial scan. As in from different directions or with 'on the cliff' stations at a time where reception has dropped and the signal isn't strong enough for a ID. Doing another scan wipes out the channel table, so that puts you back to were you started. I find it hard to believe as advanced as this is, this isn't possible.
Will just entering the physical channel number work so it would get added to the channel list? The only search results I found were regarding CATV.
Anyone have a suggestion on the best tool for modifying the sometime (or most time) messed up meta tags that kmttg gets from TiVo?
Looking for something that uses what kmttg produces to find a 'best' match from the web, and populates them.
I have been using iDentify which is good, but still struggle with cleaning them up so that they can be fully cleaned up.
For reasons unknown, Tivo suggestions has started recording "infomercials" occasionally, such as in the middle of the night and\or early morning. And its for products I would never buy, such as women's beauty\healthcare products.
What is strange about recording infomercials is that I truly hate them. I never watched or record them, and I give then three thumbs down when I stumble on them. I even have deselected all shopping channels.
I have been using Tivo's since 1999 and this has never happened until recently. I am hoping that Tivo has not made deals with infomercials media companies to use Tivo suggestions as a method to, more-or-less, download infomercials to Tivo units when there is no recording conflicts.
Note: I am not referring to when Tivo records its promo channel\programming, which is a series of short promos\ads, and does not appear in under Tivo Suggestions.
I see this has been posted three to five years ago. It's worth mentioning again.
