I just installed a HD antenna last week and hoping to drop my cable subscription completely. First, I was able to disconnect the cable connection and scan the digital channels from the antenna connection and my TiVo Premiere will show the channels without a problem. However, no program information is available for 2 days.
I have tried Clearing all the old program information and the To-Do list but the Season pass programs kept recording automatically.
When I did the Repeat Guided Setup, I notice that the TiVo will skip the Scanning Antenna channel screen in split of a second then start downloading the program information. I couldn't get the Repeat Guide Setup to scan for the antenna channels. When I talked to TiVo support, they said I need to do a Delete and Reset which I really don't want to do if I don't have to.
Any suggestions to get the program information from the OTA signal would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Am I the only one still watching?
DwtS is getting way too enamored of the goofy themes. If they're going to introduce dances outside of the ordinary 10-dances (European) or the competition dances in American-style ballroom, then how about letting people dance them properly, instead of gumming them up with a theme?
IMHO Shawn outdanced Derek last night, but who can blame him for not being able to keep up with her? What moron decided it would be a good idea to have someone dance a bhangra in a leather outfit?
I wish they would just get rid of all the trappings, put them in the traditional costumes, and let them rip. Because Shaun killed that.
I also loved Apolo's jazz number. All it needed was Wade Robson to refine some of the moves, and wow.
Some of the moves in that routine are also done on the ice, so now I'm keen to slap figure skates on Apolo and see what he could do.
I'd love to see Shawn, Apolo, and Melissa in the final. It would have been interesting to see what Sabrina and Louis might have done at this point (I'd pay big bucks to see Louis doing a bhangra!) but I suspect that Shawn would have kicked everybody's ass, no matter who was still left in the competition.
In any case -- see what happens when people actually get a decent amount of rehearsal time? Even Kelly Monaco can blossom out and shine. ;) Gotta give the girl credit, because when she was in this stage of the competition the first time around, her partner was still counting for her. She's come a long, long way.
I've recently been experiencing occasional macroblocking and stuttering on my HD XL that I thought was probably the hard drive going bad (it's 3 years old and we recently had to replace the fan). But I realized that the problem is significantly worse on transfers, which take place over wifi, either from Amazon or from an SD TiVo where the source video doesn't show any macroblocking. On transfers, nearly every frame has some macroblocking. Many cablecard recordings have no macroblocking at all; others may have a handful of instances. These are relatively recent occurrences.
I know there are a million threads on macroblocking and I have tried to read as much as possible, but any thoughts on what's the likely cause of this problem when it's significantly worse on transfers but happens to a lesser extent on native recordings as well? Thanks.
(P.S. Not to influence your responses, but if the hard drive turns out to be bad, I have gotten Mr. Coldtoes to agree that I can buy a Premier XL 4 to replace this box, which can then get a new hard drive and replace the SD TiVo. Not that I'm rooting for a bad drive or anything. Nope.)
I was absolutely amazed at the Update segment that had Mr. Wonderful in relaxed clothes (a white linen shirt with a bunch of bracelets and stuff) and him JAMMING out on the guitar...wow.
Turned to the Dark Side, Grace has. I have a feeling this was not part of the plan when the series began, but either (a) they're throwing drama at the wall to see what sticks in an attempt to keep the series going another season, or (b) they've realized it's a one-season wonder and they're trying to wrap things up, possibly with an eye to trying to qualify the series as a miniseries for Emmy purposes.
I've had Tivos die before and I've had to replace them when they start rebooting randomly on their own. But in the last couple days, mine's started rebooting itself *exactly* 26 minutes after the hour and 4 minutes before the hour. You could set a clock by it. If it was just hardware failure, I'd expect it to be a bit more random, but with it being *so* regular, I'm wondering if it's something more.
Any ideas or suggestions?
I have a pair of (gracefully) aging DSR6000 DirecTivos. They have worked wonderfully for about 10 years UNTIL THIS WEEK. The HDDs have been updated a few times but motherboard is solid.
Since about November 11 or 12th both my Tivos are rebooting at random intervals. This happens when recording or playing back programs. Temperature level is not out of the normal operating range. Signal strength is in the low 90's to upper 80's.
I forced a daily call an reboot with no change in symptoms.
When I started to froth my wife dialed up DirecTv and put them on (last night). They tell me they are aware of the problem which their engineers are currently working on. No ETA on a fix.
At least they did acknowledge the problem and did not try to sell me another unit.
I do not know how to start a poll.. Would someone start a poll for those of us with reboot issues on the older units so we can figure out just how many of us on this forum are being denied service by DTV. Why I am emailing the heck out of DTV and the CEO I would like to back it up with real numbers.
i like when they do the 'wrong' thing but thats what the show is about...of course now they have to worry about everyone on the bench coming after them but that will no doubt wind up being a sub plot of some kind
i guess the daughter will wind up stoned or preg or something to derail the campaign
i dont know why the son had to sneak around the campaign...did mom explicitly say he cant work...definitely no interviews, i remember that part
i take it the beatdown in the lot was because kerry cut short the hustle guys meeting and he dresses too well? or was it because alicia called and kerry answerd and he thinks she's cheating on him with kerry? i didnt really get that
I have a Hughes HDVR2 for Directv that I have been using for a long time. I have already replaced the hd one time a few years back. My question is, the box keeps restarting 3 or 4 times a day. I have cleared all thumbs ratings, and the last time it restarted it got to 9% then stopped, but I could still access the menu using the Dtv button on the remote. I am assuming I have a bad hard drive again. The problem I am having is locating the image to put on a spare drive I have. Does anyone have any suggestions?
It's probably just co-incidence but about a week ago, both my R10 units have been randomly rebooting. Fair enough, it's old equipment, and I've been through many second hand units in the last 6/7 years, but for them to both be doing this in tandem?
Anyone else having a problem?
The conspiracy theorist in me says that they are zapping the old diehards to force them to upgrade....
It is the boxes' last hurrah incidently, we have some shows to watch before they are retired permanently anyway.
I struck a decent deal with DTV for two new THR22s with HD dish install tomorrow.
Several times a day while watching tv the receiver quits, then resets itself.
Any help to fix this ?
I'm surprised, no thread about this episode yet!
Wow...for a minute I thought I was watching late night Cinemax. If that performance by Claire Danes doesn't merit an Emmy I don't know what will ;)
All in all a decent episode. Saul's expressions during the tap into the sex scene were priceless.
Wonder if Brody is going to be yet again turned this time by Abu Nazir, into what a triple or quadruple agent now? I'm losing track.
I was just wondering. After I pull a show from using kmttg and edit it using VideoREDO (taking out commercials or w/e I want), is there any way to then transfer the final product back to a .tivo file and put it back on my actual TiVo?
Hey, what is John Cena doing when he waves his hand in front of his face?
I have a directv RCA40, as well as an RCA80. The RCA80 was a used purchase from Ebay and came from Denver Co. The hard drive had not been wiped and still had channel info and recorded programs on it. I bought a new access card and tried to activate the drive. Everything seemed to be working ok, but the drive was not able to "get all of the channel information". The CSR gave up on helping me at that point...saying the dvr was "too old" and I needed to upgrade.
The hard drive on my dvr40 will probably need a new hard drive soon. I want to know if its possible to do something with the drv80 hard drive to have it work in the dvr 40 or even to be able to get channel info downloaded properly on the dvr80 so I could use that box.
I have suspected that it still has all the settings for the Denver area and is looking for those channels possibly?
What could I try re-setting or even doing the "clear and Delete" so I could start over with a clean drive? Would I lose any info that I needed?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The Discovery series will end its 10-year run after the Dec. 11 special "American Chopper: The Revenge."
"After 10 years and 233 episodes of incredible, riveting reality television, American Chopper will be ending its run," said Eileen O'Neill, group president of Discovery and TLC Networks, reports Entertainment Weekly. "This series was one of the very first family-based reality programs on television. Special thanks to Pilgrim Studios for over a decade of great producing. The Teutuls have given us really innovative bike builds and real drama since 2002. We wish both Orange County Choppers and Paul Junior Designs the best."
The motorcycle reality-documentary show follows the goings-on behind the scenes of the Orange County Choppers, a custom motorcycle fabrication company. It follows the Teutuls -- Paul Sr. and Jr., as they create motorcycles as works of art.
Paul Teutul Sr. appeared on season five of "The Celebrity Apprentice."
"American Chopper" airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET.
Honestly, had a little of a nerdgasm when Alton popped out of that container. I knew he was going to be on, but it was still such a thrill to see him with the Mythbusters. I'd love to see this happen on a yearly basis or so. He seemed to fit in so well--crawling under the car, working with Jamie and Adam at the workbench, etc.
That said, the "myths" were a little weak. Cooking the Thanksgiving dinner using the heat of the engine was interesting, but like many other myths, they went to such extravagant means to make it happen that it's less a "myth" and more just a cool project. In fact, I'd say the whole Thanksgiving dinner segment was more an episode of Good Eats than Mythbusters.
The popcorn? Interesting. At least it gave them an explosion on an episode that probably wouldn't have one.
I found myself a little grossed out by the build team's segments. I'm not really feeling much like turkey now for some reason...and I definitely do not want runny mashed potatoes with protein powder mixed in.
