I wasn't sure if I should just start a thread for season 14, the current one or for all seasons.
I normally don't watch these films but I stumbled across "Seeking Asian Female" through another forum. More info at http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/s...male/film.html
. This struck a chord w/me since I'm a male ABC (American Born Chinese).
Steven is an aging white man obsessed with marrying an Asian woman, dreaming of a devoted young wife. Sandy is the young, feisty, ambitious Chinese woman he finds online. This engaging documentary follows their tumultuous love story.
For years, twice-divorced airport garage attendant Steven has been writing to numerous women through an online dating site that specializes in connecting Western men with Asian women. At times, his pursuit seems like utter fantasy. He falls for a 24-year-old woman across the Pacific entirely through pictures and email. When she eventually breaks his heart, he meets another Chinese woman, 30-year-old Sandy. They become engaged, and she flies to San Francisco to marry him. ...
My Mandarin is terrible but I seem to better off than Steven in the clips. I could understand most of that Mandarin in the clips w/o the subtitles.
My TiVo's set to record this ep.
Interesting... I stumbled across http://www.seekingasianfemale.com/
as well. I got a chuckle out of http://www.seekingasianfemale.com/screenings/
when I saw a mention of angryasianman.
That was actually a rather satisfying finale for me.
Glad to see Bates and Anthony win it. No major hose jobs because of bad cab drivers was a huge plus!
Cannot believe ANY of them actually thought they were getting a picture with the President!
One thing for any of those familiar with jewelry - and this first came to my attention on Undercover Boss a couple of weeks ago with Jackie - the fitness center worker who was cussing at the customers, etc. - but it looked like Katie was wearing something similar at the finish line tonight...
It was a necklace that looked like a simple gold chain with a cross on it; but the cross was mounted sideways where one end of the chain connected to the top on of the cross and the other end was connected to the bottom - so the cross didn't dangle in what would be considered an upright position, but was sideways. Is there some signifigance to this that I am not aware of? Some new style or something? Just not my cup of tea.
I found tons of programs to convert TIVO files to the computer/DVD, but not the other way around. I download about five programs touting to convert to TIVO, but no such thing. I found one that was showing promise, but it stalled. I have a Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra Plus NAS which supports viewing of files (I'm watching one right now). One program even touted TIVOs blessing, but no go ..... any thoughts.
My TIVO2 has a stuff I'd like to transfer and not takeup space on the box. I just wish my Mini supported network files.
Window7 Pro SP1
my Tivo's may let me down, crash before I've seen the recordings, cause me countless hours of repair time, etc, etc....
but I can always count on the Tivo Community to be there in times of Tivo terror.
thanks to you all...
I loved this episode!
Peggy's terrible apartment - she's so desperate to make things work with Abe because she thinks that's what she wants when it's just making her miserable.
When Teddy kissed Peggy I shouted "No!" And then when she got dolled up to go see him and was blindsided by Don, ouch. She finally went out on her own and out from Don's shadow and she's right back there.
I loved Don telling off Herb but I loved even more Joan telling off Don.
I loved getting to see Roger do what Roger does.
Peter and his FIL going nuclear on each other was amusing. Peter throwing a hissy fit on the phone was funny. It was a little sad, Bert was just in Peter's office praising him for helping run a great business, then less than 24 hours later he's lost Jaguar and Vick's. It was interesting that Trudy was softening to him but it was more important for Peter to get even than save his marriage.
The scene in the bar where Don and Teddy share their pitches was great. I really like Teddy, except when he's hitting on Peggy. (It might just be I like the actor.)
Now we see why Harry Hamlin was cast as Cutler. What will the new agency be? Will the merger work out?
This episode was heavy on plot with one great scene after another, and light on character development. I bet the critics will like it less because of that. But it was a bridging episode - shaking everything up with a ton of plot developments to lead into new character struggles in the remaining half of the season.
I just upgraded the hard drive in my new TiVo and I wanted to switch all of my season passes from my old TiVo to my new one. I did this using TiVo.com but when I checked it a hour later it says Corrupt- Delete Me and the channel number. next to that it still says updating. I have a lot of season passes. It says that for over 90% of the seasons passes. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Jam down our throat complete.
In fact it's not exactly a jam - they are telling the story of RENT down to the cast doing a singing of the songs with no staging the night after Jonathan Larson died and the 'rentheads' lining up outside the theater.
The moment I saw this episode was called "The Phenomenon" I could see Kyle was toast.
Kevin McCollough one of the producers who played himself attending producers night was the guy who moved Rent to Broadway.
I'm just surprised so many of the people who lived through Rent didn't protest this blatant rip off of a storyline and are in the show.
I hope the Jonathan Larson Foundation is getting a royalty.
I am still enjoying this for what it is and I think Jimmy's song was heart wrenching. I was however surprised they needed this twist to take Hit List to Broadway when they were making out it was such a hit already.

On the back of my S3 I notice that one the component outs are missing the outer shield on the green connector...or, does the green connector not have a shield on it?
Is this something that can be repaired or should I just use an HDMI out and then a HDMI to component converter?
Has anyone recently noticed Discovery shows being cut off at the end, usually the last 3 minutes?
I have two boxes, and it occurs on both and seems to mostly occur with the first airing only. What seems to be happening is Discovery is starting shows 3 minutes late, which throws off TiVo and presumably other DVRs that use the guide data.
So, either it's the guide that's off or perhaps it's just Discovery messing with DVRs.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I didn't see any threads here for this. Maybe everyone else was smart enough to skip it.
If you are looking for another cookie cutter game show / reality TV garbage, then jump in with both feet. Otherwise, don't bother.
Two team, against one another, drama in the teams, and voting the worst player off at the end.
Nothing ground breaking. I had hopes Discovery would do better, but they proved me wrong..
That is all, I just wanted to vent.
A better episode this week. Loved seeing Diana Rigg is the villainess.
I still think they need to resolve the Clara back-story soon, or at least, give us some clues.
Well I just upgraded from my Galaxy SII to the new flagship BAD BOY; the SGS4. Awesome phone, awesome implementation of Jelly Bean. The TiVo app for Android doesn't like it though. It installs fine it's just that everytime I launch TiVo I get an ugly "Exit/Continue anyway" warning dialog in the middle of the screen.
"The version of the TiVo app for Android has been designed for phone with less than 1024 x 600 screen resolution."
SGS4 Screen Resolution: 1920 x 1080 Pixel, 441 ppi
It does seem to work just have an added Exit/Continue anyway dialog. I sure wish I had TiVo Stream support, I'd buy one! I won't buy iApple just to have Stream.
I have an old Series 1 TiVo that I no longer use. Does anyone want it?

And finally, for the first time in years Matt Frewer intrigues me instead of annoying me. So is he the Big Bad, or just middle management? I'm guessing Big Bad. Maybe.

For those like me that only have OTA programming, while recording two shows you can still watch live TV. Add a splitter to the incoming OTA antenna cable, route one cable to your DVR and another to the input of your TV.
When recording two shows turn off your DVR. Use your TV remote to switch to "TV" and then use it to control channels and volume for OTA reception.
I prefer to watch live broadcasts of news, baseball and NASCAR. If my DVR starts recording two shows at the same time I switch to my TV and watch news, baseball, NASCAR or anything else OTA live.
Checked the top questions thread and the possible solution link there is broken, so here I am. :(
My older DirecTV serial connection boxes (DRD523RB & DRD503RBC) are finally being phased out. DirecTV shipped a couple free reconditioned SD boxes, but there have no serial connections (D12-100). So now how do I control a non-serial SD STB from my Series 2 Humax boxes?
I have a DRT400F and a T2500. I currently use their USB ports to connect them to my WiFi so they update their guides.
The Patterson serial/usb converter is no longer available and I have no experience putting DirecTV boxes on my network or doing any of the "coding" I have been reading about online, to either box (STB or TiVo). The most I have ever done with these boxes is upgrade the HDs in the TiVos.
1) Is there a simple hardwire solution to let my Series 2 boxes control these D12 non-serial boxes?
2) Does it use the current Series 2 control port, or do I have to use the USB on BOTH the DirecTV box and the TiVo?
3) If I have to utilize the USB on the Series 2, am I now forced to use the phone jack to allow the box to download new guide info & updates?
Thanks for the help.
I've had the occasional TiVo customer call in and inquire about the games accessible on the TiVo. They seem to be more popular than I was expecting, and more than once I've heard a customer opine about the selection of games. Meaning they wanted more. In general, the more frequent TiVo game users appear to be either age-advanced or elderly, predating even the Atari or Calecovision generation!
So I thought I'd suggest something along the lines of simple multiplayer games. Like a few different card games. Something relatively simple where the rules are already commonly understood. I believe it would get quite a bit of use!
I am an employee of a telecom company out on the eastern seaboard. I am not here in any kind of official capacity, of course, but here to do some digging around and getting familiar more with the technical end of the TiVo product. I'm sort of doing research on my own so as to become a go-to guy here for TiVo related situations.
Had one installed myself, and I love it. I think I had my TiVo for all of three days before I chucked out my old VCR. Didn't even see if there was a tape in there first. Didn't care. Didn't seem particularly relevant.
Do the TiVo corporate folks visit these forums, or is this largely a TiVo aficionado-run site?
Anyways, just wanted to say hello!
