Using TiVo Desktop Plus Version 2.8.3 (412370) with Windows 7 PC, I am transferring .mpg files from my PC to a Series 3 HD TiVo. This TiVo is used strictly for holding my digitized exercise videos, organized into folders with my files added one by one so that they appear in the folders in an order of my choosing.
To achieve the results I wanted, I found that TiVo Desktop Plus was just the ticket. I've transferred 204 files. Most are not very long and transferred with no difficulty, but a few are larger, up to 4.04 GB. All were successfully transferred last year until I tried to add a new batch yesterday. 9 transferred just fine, but they were all smaller than 2.0 GB. Then it gagged on one that is 3.1 GB. It simply will not transfer it. I tried the next one, a small one and everything was fine, however, since I do want these in a particular order, I deleted it.
I have unplugged the TiVo, I have connected to TiVo, I have maxed the cache size and boosted the activity level in TiVo Desktop Plus "Performance" tab, Cleared cached information and restarted TDP, cleared the auto transfer list & transfer status window and restarted TDP. I have deleted the file folder in TDP and re-added the video folder. Basically, I have flushed everything and restarted the whole process a number of times and can't get this file to go.
There is plenty of space (45 GB) left on the TiVo. I am not using Kaspersky antivirus, but went ahead and followed the advice to make my TivoDesktop.exe, TivoServer.exe, and TivoTransfer.exe exceptions in AVG.
I called TiVo Tech Support, but transfers from PC to TiVo seemed out of their league. Any other thoughts???
p.s. I want to PUSH, not PULL, but I just tried pulling the file using "Now Playing" and selecting it from off of the PC. I received the message: "Will NOT record. Does not have enough disk space". That is simply not true. kmttg reports that 205 GB have been used. The hard drive is 250 GN Western Digital SATA drive. The drive hold 35 hours of HD and 303 SD according to system information, and I'm not there yet.
I've had my S3 since about when they were launched.
A few months ago it "died" so I replaced all the PS capacitors and that brought it back to life.
It's been working great since then until the last several days.
I'll be watching a recorded program (or live TV) and the screen will suddenly go to black. The program will continue to play. After a few second (up to 20 or 30 seconds sometimes) the screen will come back. This tends to repeat frequently once it starts. I have power cycled the TV, which appears to fix it, but only temporarily (but it could be unrelated).
I have a Sharp Aquos LC37D64U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV I bought in 2008 which has been great since then as well.
So how do I figure out of it's the TV or the Tivo causing the problem? I tried changing HDMI inputs on the TV, and the same thing persists.
I don't have any other HDMI sources to test the TV. Is this a known issue with Tivos, or is it more likely the TV?
What, no thread yet? In fact there was no thread for the last episode. Isn't there anyone still watching this? I know there have been some posts that think TB isn't as good as it was in the beginning, but I think its even better! Also, some posts were complaining about all the different kinds of supernatural people and preferred only having vampires. But again I differ - certainly if vampires exist for real than it makes sense that other types of creatures exist. And I especially like the faeries and the fact that Sooky is at least half faerie. And in this episode we find out that she is part royalty!! I also thought it was very fitting that Steve Newlin is going to be "researched" upon and meets up with his ex-wife who is now working for the "researchers"!!
Anyway, I do have a question. What happened to Russell Edgeington? EDIT: I just went to HBO.com and they have some nice summaries of the episodes and I read and remembered that Eric staked him in last season's finale.
I still think its the best show on TV!!!
Does the TCF have a problem with bellsouth.net email addresses or is the problem at the their end? I would really like to cancel my attglobal account (especially after what they did to me today) but every time I change the TCF to use my bellsouth account, I no longer get notified of new posts to threads I am following. They don't go to my online spam folder, so either they are not being sent or it is getting bounced w/o notification.

Still not getting a great feel for the houseguests yet. I'm very confused by the women, as they all seem kind of the same. I think my favorite player so far is Nick. I think he's got his head in the game and will play smart. I figured Candace would be the target this week. She just seems too much of an outsider and that's who always goes first.
I don't know if it's possible, but Rachael's sister might be more annoying than Rachael. When you hear her talk, she makes Rachael seem like a Rhode's Scholar in comparison. She needs to go. She brings no value to the game.

Dexter is losing it, definitely. Obsessed with Deb. Taking Harrison with him in what turns out to be a kill, even if not, still Dex knows it's a dangerous situation.
Have none of these people heard of text messaging? At least they could give much more advanced warning that way. (I'm thinking of Dex letting Deb in on what he knows).
Still an enjoyable ep. Looking forward to the last 11 episodes.

Was running Desktop Plus 2.8.3 on Windows 7. Hard drive failure. The only place I had the program files stored was the failed hard drive. I can find my key in my account but don't have the download files. Chat with TiVo online indicates that I have to buy a new copy for $16.99. Principle of the thing is just wrong. Any ideas on how to get the program files that I can activate with my paid key?
I have a TiVo Premiere and Series2 box. For the past few months, I have been unable to transfer programs from the Premiere to the Series2. The boxes both see each other and I can transfer from the Series2 to the Premiere. When I choose a program to transfer to the Series2, I get a message that the program will be transferred and an entry is in my To Do list, but it never starts the transfer process. Any ideas?!?!
I have a premiere Xl. I have connected a wireless HDMI device to it so that I can share e TiVo signal on 2 TVs, in 2 different rooms.
The TiVo is installed in a cabinet and originally had a Bluetooth slider remote to control it.
In reading the forums it looks like you can't add a second slider to the TiVo, even if you use 2 dongles. Since mine is buried in the back of a cabinet, can someone verify this? If that is the case, what is your recommendation for a second remote?
It will need to be Bluetooth or have an ir blaster type of feature.
have had the premier for a few months, time warner cable, no problems.
yesterday, while playing a netflix stream, image froze. tivo would not respond to any buttons. did a cold boot by removing power cord, went through the whole boot-up and worked fine
today, it would not come out of standby (green light showing), no response to any buttons, again re-boot, worked ok
until it again froze midway through playing a recorded show (show was still being recorded) again a cold boot and now it is working
I experienced something that I consider rather odd:
My Tivo (Elite) suddenly started to misbehave and apparently not respond to remote commands. It then rebooted and kept rebooting. So I called Tivo tech support and they decided the unit would need to be replaced.
Luckily, I had an old Tivo HD so I plugged it in and this unit also kept rebooting. Long story short, I finally linked this to the HDMI ports on my receiver. For some reason, connecting to any receiver HDMI would cause Tivos to constantly reboot. A reboot of the receiver fixed the issue.
I again called Tivo to cancel replacement request and also asked tech support why HDMI would cause reboots. Got a bunch of nonsense answers such as "Well, HDMI is a good protocol but you need to check your power strip etc"
Does anyone know why HDMI would be causing Tivo reboots? It was certainly not affecting other HDMI connected devices (e.g., a BluRay player).
That was total BS. Congratulations for being a great team and working together through great obstacles when the other two teams completely fell apart under the same circumstances. Instead of just letting you split the money, like you would have if the other teams hadn't imploded, you're now going to fight each other for the prize.
I'm not sure why this aggravated me so much... the two "losers" didn't seem bothered by it at all. I really think it's wrong to change the rules in the last few hours of a competition like this. You start as a team and you should finish as a team.
The Mini's Power cord plug is not very conducive to fitting behind a close to wall flat panel TV wall outlet.
In other words, it's too fat to fit into a recessed wall outlet box.
Can I use something else? If so what?
How do I get back to my instant queue after a show completes? Right now the app seems to freeze, and in order to watch another show I have to press the TiVo button, restart the Netflix app, and then choose the next episode. I've tried the stop, pause, and play buttons. I've tried the nav arrows. I don't know what else to try, and it really seems like something ought to get me back there without needing to restart the whole thing.

I have a WD AV drive that may be going bad (under one year old) - what is the best software to test the drive with, assuming I pulled it from the Premiere in question.
Or, is it better to test it while still installed in the Premiere?
I assumed it would be faster using PC software, externally mounted.
PS - I am trying the amber light/pause/kickstart code thing, but can't get past the green screen of death
Can you tell on the Program Description if the movie or program is being broadcast in 5.1? I only see "Dolby Digital" when I go down to Dolby ICON.
I have a Vizio Sound Bar and I can't program the Tivo Premiere remote for: - Volume, + Volume and Mute. I did following directions but never takes. Anyone have suggestions?
I have an odd problem. I have a Series3 HD 32hr Model tcd648250B. I have three older hard drives that are 1 tb 1 tb and 240 g. They all boot up fine in the tivo. I am trying to put a brand new wd green 1 tb in this unit. I have tried winmsf copy and backup and restore to the new drive and when I put the new drive in, the tivo first splash screen shows up and never goes any further then this. The lights on the front stay on and never change. I even bought the instant back for this unit and baked the new wd hard drive and have the same effect. I hear lots about power supplies, but the other three older hd's boot fine. I have also tried mfslive 1.4 backup/restore and same effect. Any suggestions?

I've been having an issue with programs not deleting from My Shows and newly recorded shows not showing up.
When I go to delete something, it will just put the X next to the show but it will not move to the deleted folder. New programs do not show up in My Shows and there is even no history of them being recorded.
I can restart the TiVo and then everything works right for a while. All the shows that it had recorded but were not being listed now show up. It is normal for a period of time, sometimes very short, sometimes a few hours, and then has the issue again.
When this happens, it won't let me create, delete or change season passes.
Anyone have any experience with this? It's been happening for a month or so, possibly since the most recent update. Getting very frustrating. Thought I would come here first before trying my luck with tech support. Thanks.
