Season 8 of Dexter will premiere earlier than usual
-- June 30 of this year. And its creator refuses to speculate if that will be the final season...
Is it just me, or would the show be (insert number of your choice, 2 or higher) times better if it concentrated on the kids with Bob and Linda being secondary characters? This episode is a classic example.
Does anyone know how to fix an issue with the downloading of HD Movies from Amazon.
On several occasions I have ordered a movie, the download starts, but goes VERY Slowly. After 20 minutes or so I only had 3 minutes of the movie. I rebooted and after another 20 minutes only 17 seconds of the movie! Clearly this is not "on demand". :)
I have purchased many TV episodes using the Amazon website and sent them to the TiVo with no issues. This seems to be related to ordering movies from the TiVo itself.
It's a Tivo Premiere.
1a. No working standby (one that will allow waking for timer recordings). There is no reason to have a HDD fully running 24/7, especially when one isn't using the device or has any scheduled recordings. Why have the outputs active all the time? All other DVR's that I have had experience with have at least have a standby. Some even will go to a low power mode that still allows timer recording and less than 30 second boot times,
1b Allow timeshifting to be turned off. If you don't use it, why have it continuously recording?
2. No function buttons on the front panel. Though not the only device that doesn't have these,
3. No stop button; every conceivable record/playback device has had a stop button from record players on. I realize there are ways to 'stop' a recording, but a stop button isn't one of them. Are these people from another planet?
4. No ability to skip that annoying "Guided setup" even for a minor change or problem. Give me the option of doing it manually. Everyone isn't brain dead,
5. No separate scans for OTA and CATV. I have never seen a tuner that has dual ability (both modes) not to have this. More unnecessary time consumption wasted for no reason. If only one or the other (OTA or CATV) needs a re-scan, why should I have to be forced to do a complete scan?
6. No ability to add a single channel w/o scanning through the entire spectrum. That's utterly stupid & completely unnecessary. They apparently assume one scan is all you need, every single station/service is available 24/7 and there are no issues with reception problems, stations change physical channel numbers etc. There are users that are above intelligence that actually do know physical channel numbers and can enter just what they want w/o doing any scans. Give us that option,
7. Very limited time span for their "Grid", less than two hours is ridiculous. You own all the patents you need, why aren't you using them?
8. Boot times from power off are excessively long. At least they are for the series three,
9. No recording history (record log), unless I missed something,
10. Annoying child like beeps when in the menu that can't be turned off easily,
11. "Suggestions" that can't be turned off (that I know of).
Applies to Series 3/HD models.
A new 10-episode series of TG US returns on Tuesday, January 29th on History.
With the new season of TG UK starting two days earlier, and BBCA's almost certain plan to show it in the US as soon as possible after the UK airing, I wonder how wise it is to allow a direct comparison of these two totally different experiences!
It will certainly show how inferior the American version is.
I am thinking about changing out my router since it is around 4 years old. I want to switch it out before it starts having issues. I currently have a Dlink 655 that has served me well. Any suggestions of a router that will be both good for today but also future proof as I am thinking it should go 4 or 5 years.
fighting for your product is always a good thing! i cant believe 4 of them went in on something and robert attempted more deals today than the entire season combined lol
i dont drink coffee but i cannot fathom carring around 5 balls for my 100 oz starbucks
at home yes i see the use.
the ice cream thing i swore i saw the same thing on this show but i guess not because they never would repeat. good question about the kids freezing each others parts though :)
i do wonder why you cant just put your toys in a pillow case and zip it? anyone done that?
In the FAQ at the top of the page here (which was updated, burt still outdated and this upgrade article;
All the WD green HDD's that were recommended seem to be discontinued. The confusing four letter model numbers (EURS, AURS, EURX etc.) don't make it any easier.
Also, this "Advanced Format" that most of the new drives now have, is this a issue with the Series 3, especially the HD? If so, other than some jumper between pins 7 & 8, is there another workaround?
This show doesn't usually need an episode by episode thread so I figured whole season would do.
Wow they really went dark with Steve/Jimmy. I really did not think that was Marco, it did not look like the same actor from last year but what a death. Jimmy is really in with some bad people. Can he keep it from affecting Fiona and the kids?
Wasn't Manady pregenant? Isn't that why her dad went after Ian because he thought he knocked her up but it was actually Lip?
They changed the opening slightly, does that mean Karen is gone for good?
This is one of my favourite TV shows. I watch it mostly because it has adventure, survival, hunting and exploration all together. So have you watched it, if yes what are your suggestions about it?
Recently while watching a couple of NFL games, I've noticed an ever-present background noise that I best can describe as "Gurgling", technically I think its highly compressed filtering of the crowd noise. The commentators and other sounds come through clear, but the crowd sound is really bad because it does not sound like the typical crowd noise at football games, it just sounds like gurgling in the background.
Anyone else notice this with live NFL games (or other sports)?
I know this is about a week late, but Cougartown is back. The show has been picked up on TBS. The season premiere was on Jan 8. Next show is Tuesday 1/15 at 10pm EST.
Last few weeks been noticing an increasing amount of what I'll call "tuning" problems with my XL. I spent some time testing this afternoon and it really is quite a mess. In a nutshell, the TiVo seems to be unable to tune a channel at times and leaves me with a black screen the scrub bar showing 30 minutes and "paused." Unlike the typical problems i've had in the past with my TWC tuning adapter, there is no "unable to tune" error message or authorization message.
Here is an example:
Was watching CBS, hit guide and tuned to HGTV, hit "last" and then CBS wouldn't tune (black screen scrub bar at 30 minutes paused.) Hit channel up/down and CBS would not re-tune. Hit guide, then selected CBS and it tuned. Was able to replicate this type of behavior with 3 other channels, some taking more effort than others to get back. If i toggle the "Live TV" button to switch tuners while on a "blacked out" channel the other 3 seem to be fine.
That's just one example, but I'm noticing a channel work perfectly fine and then stop working in a similar manner all too often in the last few weeks. Have missed recordings as a result, and while I'm normally the first to blame the tuning adapter it's happening with channels that I don't believe are even switched (and the behavior is different than problems I've seen previously with my adapter or cable card.)
Unplugging the box and re-plugging also will bring a channel back online. There isn't much rhyme or reason to what channels stop working. But it is happening, a lot.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks :)
I want to hook-up my PC to a S3. My PC has a WinTV card in it. Hooking up the cable direct to the input of the tv card works fine but when I hookup a s-video cable from the tv card to the S3 I get no picture on my computer screen. What do I need to do to get this to work?
Feel free to move this if another forum is more appropriate...
Our Tivo Premiere is set to record only new episodes of Castle on the Chicago ABC affiliate, WLS. Suggestions are turned off. Re-runs of Castle also run on the same channel late nights on Sundays, two episodes in a row. These show record each week. Because of when it is on, I don't think it has caused any recording conflicts, etc., but it is just annoying on principle. :)
My first inclination is to believe that this is a problem with the listings, but in any case, I'd love to know if there is an easy way to stop this from happening, since I don't think this schedule is going to change any time soon. Thanks.
I am having problems with Pytivo. I am running windows 8 pro. I installed a new motherboard cpu and reinstalled windows 8.
Now I get this page can't be displayed. I click on fix the connection a screen will pop up reading this.
The device or resource(localhost) is not set up to accept connections on port 9032. I rebooted the tivo and their is no My video in my now showing folder.
How can I solve this problem?
After the last update (back in november or december), my apps no longer work. Going to showcases and apps I only see showcases until eventually I get a C501 error. Do other people's apps still work?
I have Tivo Desktop Plus and routed my videos to play from my PC to my videos and it's worked well. Today I added some new videos to the folder on the PC but they are not showing up on the Tivo.
I have restarted the Tivo by power cycling it & restarted Tivo Desktop Plus but I still am missing the files on the Tivo in my computer folder, any thoughts?
Tivo doesn't have the "Reminder" or "Auto-Tune" feature(s).
Also, would it be so hard to build in a wireless adapter like every DVD player on the market seems to come with?
It seems to me that this would be a fairly simple upgrade.
Does anyone else agree?
Yes, I am a bonehead!
I took my first ski trip in about 13 years and turned off the heat just like I turn off the AC in the summer. When I got home the inside temp in my place was 40 degrees!
Now that my the subject of my intelligence/common sense (or lack thereof) is out of the way, here's what I noticed:
When I turned on my TV both my Series 2 and Premiere were extremely slow to respond to the commands from my remote. I had to push the button on my remote a little harder before I saw that the lights on the front of the TiVo's respond to the remote's command. Once the inside temp started to reach a comfortable 50-something degrees(!) both TiVos started to respond normally.
Does cold temperature affect TiVo's functionality?
