We just bought a new TV - Vizio 60-inch E601i-A3 - a brand new LED enhanced LCD model http://store.vizio.com/via-hdtvs/e601ia3.html
Upgraded from - Mitsubishi 57-inch DLP (projection TV) WD-57732 http://reviews.cnet.com/projection-tvs/mitsubishi-wd-57732
The resolution of this new TV is SO GOOD that every single flaw in the video recording and/or production is glaringly obvious.
Since the install of this new TV - we're now noticing LOTS of video sputtering, jerkiness
and sync issues on our TiVo Premiere recordings.
This is not the case with live TV. It's not constant in the recordings - sometimes it goes along smoothly - but it's frequent and random enough to be extremely disturbing.
We use the TiVo as our main tuner/cablebox (w/cablecard). It's a little tough to move the Tivo from one TV to the other to make sure the recordings sputter on each - but I've used iPad w/TiVo Stream and also see it on there. This leads me to believe it's the TiVo itself thats the problem - we just never noticed it so much before on the DLP screen - but now with the higher resolution it's obvious.
Our Premiere is not upgraded or hacked - it's the base model HDD - and runs around 80% full most of the time. We use it for almost everything we watch (to time shift shows and skip commercials) so it's used heavily.
And ideas on how to fix this sputtering???
Further testing - My next step is to simultaneously record the exact same show(s) (and cable feed) on EyeTV and TiVo and compare the recordings. To date, I've not seen any problems in EyeTV recordings however - so this would confirm the issue is absolutely not coming from the cable company.
Has anyone had this issue before? The program used to work fine I could push video (download) to the tivo or stream from the PC. Now the folder shows up but is blank. It was appearing for a while with only the stream capability before it disappeared all the way.
Any fixes for this? I have tried reboots of the tivos as well as the pytivo program. Besides that nothing has changed since this was installed over a year ago i believe.
Just wanted to let folks know that my Premiere with Stream and the new Slingbox 500 all works together. No need for IR blaster either.
The image quality of the Stream is much better on the new iPad compared to the Slingbox feed on local WiFi.
Thought others would be interested as I didn't see any info here.
I've been fighting this for a while so thought I'd post it out there to see what I'm missing. It seems really simple but I can't figure it out.
I've got Win 7 64bit. 32 bit version of Python 2.6, 32 bit version of Python Image Library.
I've had pyTivo up and running for a while and everything works great there.
Trying to get pyHME going so that I can use Vidmgr. I've got pyHME copied and downloaed to c:\pytivo\pyhme. My pyHME config.ini file:
apps=clock vidmgr animate
I'm doing all this from the cli. I've tried running both with and without the config file in place. When it's up and running I can telnet to localhost on port 9042. I've also tried with the Windows Firewall disabled.
The problem is that when I go into the Tivo's (XL4 Elite and Premiere XL) they don't see the HME in the Showcase/Video section. I've tried about a million different things and just can't get it.
I've also got vidmgr2 downloaded but since HME isn't working I'm not yet at the point of trying to test it. According to the latest help files the tivos section needs to go into the vidmgr config file so I've removed it from the hme config.ini (tried it both with and without).
Output from the CLI:
HME Server for Python 0.20
Fri Oct 19 20:40:44 2012 PyTivo Video Manager version 2.1b module initializing
Cache file does not exist - no thumbnails loaded

Feel like I'm missing something simple. Any ideas?
I have a premier xl .had it since day one without a problem now during playback it pauses it freezes and sometimes it is normal.I have the extended warranty so I called tivo and they said try this try that. nothing helped so now they want me have fios come in and check the "quality" of the signal.tonight while watching a recorded show it freezes too much to watch it so I switched to live tv.now that is freezing on and off so I switched over to my fios stb and no problems. Do I have a bad tivo?
I have a Series 2 TIVO and blocking the satellite signal for a few seconds causes a reboot. Is there anything that could cause this other than a faulty recorder?
I originally posted in this in the wrong forum.
Just had a very strange problem with my TivoHD. I could record and play back shows, see all the Tivo menus and the program guide but no live TV on any of the outputs.
Tivo tech said the cable card menue was saying the multi stream card wasn't programed. Tech called Comcast and they said the cable cards werent on my account. Gave the Comcast tech all the info and they repaired the cards to the Tivo and I got my live TV back.
Turns out when I had called Comcast earlier in the day with a billing question they some how lost the cards. What I dont understand was how I could record programs and play them back but not watch them live.
I've been a customer since 2004 and needed to upgrade to a premiere or move to a cable DVR due to a migration to MPEG-4 transition at our cable co. I figured I'd call and explain my situation. Our cable DVR is actually cheaper than Tivo service on a new unit so I assumed they would try to sell me a premiere and I'd try to get grandfathered in on my plan. There was absolutely no attempt to keep me as a customer. I called and was cancelled within 5 minutes.
Bravo for making cancellation easy but I would have been an easy customer to retain. I'm not sure I understand their business model.
Has anyone heard about the quality of this show? It starts tonight and before I have Max turned on I would like to know if it is going to be worth 9 bucks a month.
Anyone know if the NewKinetix Re controller for the iPad/iPhone etc. supports the Tivo THR-22-100 as a remote emulator?
I also tried the L5 Technology emulator and it will not "Learn" the button functions of the THR-22's remote (infrared to infrared), apparently due to a different IR technology than that which the L5 is based on*. Specifically I've been informed that the THR-22 remote uses an LED technology other than the so-called "Phillips-Pronto," for which I am not knowledgable.
This leads to concerns as to whether or not the NewKinetix controller will be able to "learn" from a LED to LED transmission from the THR-22's remote to the NewKinetix iPad accessory.
I need to check here before purchasing the NewKinetix accessory, although, if nobody here knows, I'll go ahead and purchase it and bring the results back to you here.
*I'm aware that an L5 user has developed a work-around enabling the L5 device to work with a THR-22
Looking for an At&T iPhone 4S. Pm me if you have one to sell.
I currently have a Premiere with a MSD rate of $12.95/month. I'm committed till about April, 2013. Lately, Comcast has been making it harder and harder to own a Tivo on their network as their cable card prices have gone up to a point where it would be about $20/month PER Tivo.
I also know about the future 'minis' and am waiting to see what they have to offer when they are released as this could help keep my Comcast bill at bay (potentially one cable card for whole house), but is there any chance of getting a $6.95/month rate once my initial commitment is up? This would go a long way in me maybe keeping this Premiere if needed and/or the minis aren't a viable option.
Not sure if this matters, but I already have an S2, S3 (OLED), and Premiere on my account that ALL have lifetime subscriptions on them.
I've had this problem for a while, but wondered if anyone had a solution.
I have a series 2 tivo with a Motorola cable box from Charter. This just came up all of a sudden and I have tried to switch cable boxes to see if it would correct with no luck.
What is happening, is that on some higher channels(mostlly HBO type channels), when tivo changes channels the cable box will not stay on that channel. For example, if I change channel to HBO(channel 500), it will stay on that channel, but if I change channel to HBO2(channel 502), the cable box will continue to change channels...502,503,504.. until it gets to channel 540, in this case Showtime. This does not just happen to all channels, and not just on pay channels either. Can't tune into ION as well(channel 1xx).
Has anyone see this and have any suggestions on fixing?

I'm waiting on the Mini's appearance before investing in another Premiere, but I'm also interested in an OTA tuner Premiere. Is there *any* chance that Tivo will release a 4 tuner OTA Premiere?
I live in a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. I purchased a Premier XL4 DVR on 10/13. I installed the box, disconnecting my working Comcast HD box, went through the quick setup and installed the cablecard (Motorola M-Card) that I had picked up at the local comcast office. I then activated lifetime service on the tivo box and called Comcast and had them activate my cablecard. I have yet to receive any live tv. on 10/15 a comcast tech came to our house, attempted activate the cablecard again and when he was unsuccessful installed a new card and called in to have it activated. Still nothing. Yesterday a Comcast tech supervisor came out with 4 more M-Cards and was still unsuccessful in getting Live TV. We got on the phone with Tivo support and the comcast support but after about 15 minutes were still unable to get any signal. all I get on every channel is "Channel not available, contact cable provider" Tivo says its the comcast service and comcast says it must be the box. Know that this box is a new product, I'm wondering if there is something Comcast may not have done other than activating the M-card with the serial number, Host ID and Data ID.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know what I, Tivo or Comcast must do differently to get my box working. I hate to think I paid almost $800 for a paperweight.
I am at work but took some photos of the cablecard screens if that helps
I loved Lilly this week. I am starting to like her and how they use her more and more.
Jay and Gloria story - eh.
The magician story - eh.
Mitchell and Cam - eh. Was really sad about Cam's first day at school. I should have seen it coming, but it would have been more fun if they played off of the Glee Club somehow.
I've been enjoying the stream though I still need to frequently reboot the stream and or my router for it to work. I have the Iphone 5 and was wondering when Tivo is going to update the app to take advantage of the new screen size. Do you think there's an issue with the different screen size ratios now that the iphone 5 is 16x9?
