Haven't been able to connect to the service since about 12:30 PM, so no Netflix or Streambaby. I can ping the boxes and my internet connection is fine, but I've gotten N11, N15, N18 and C133 errors.
I'm in Texas. I've done all the usual troubleshooting, but no joy. Anyone else having issues?
I've been successfully using pyTivo/Kmttg for years now. Many thanks to all involved!
Haven't had a need to download a program from my Series 2 to my PC for awhile but this past week when I started kmttg, chose (1) program and chose "Start Job" I received the following error;
1st line - tivodecode failed (exit code: 9) - check command: "D:/Blair/Tivo/kmttg Videos/tivodecode.exe" -mak MAK --out....etc.
2nd line - read chunk data: No error
3rd line - seek: No error
4th line - Encryption by Qualcomm
The only thing new in my setup is the actual Series 2 DT which I replaced with another Series 2 DT with a larger HDD this past January. My replacement Tivo was recognized by both pyTivo & kmttg without issues until I went to download program off Tivo onto my PC.
pyTivo works without a hitch, in that I can transfer videos off PC onto Series 2 which I do frequently. The transferring of programs from Tivo to PC is failing though kmttg sees all programs on the Tivo to the point I can choose whatever I like, it just won't start the decoding process. The correct MAK is listed and nothing jumps out at me when viewing the "configuration".
I'm using Windows XPsp3 and version of kmttg is v0p7 ,which as stated, worked flawlessly for me. Java has been kept up-to-date. The initial instinct is to install the latest version, but I hesitate in that everything has been working well and I don't want to make matters potentially worse without further insight.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!!!
I have a Premiere 4 with the 20.3.1 update (I will have to double check, but I believe so because I see MLB.TV is an app option now). For the past week I have had trouble Netflix. Up until that point, absolutely no problems with the app.
I will start streaming a movie or TV episode and the pause/play/up buttons do not do anything. The content will play fine, but when it is over I just get a black screen and I have to press the Tivo button to get back to the Tivo Menu. If I go back into Netflix, it loads and I can play content but the same issues happen. I have to reset the Tivo in order for Netflix to work properly again.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
I have a Premier Series 4, I use it for OTA only, today I lost a channel and went to the signal strength meter and it shows 0 for every channel. It shows digital signal acquired and I have a picture but no signal strength. Software version: 20.3.1-01-2-746
Also if I go to the diags screen it also says 0 and snr = 0 also
Also what does the service level mean? mine is C:070813
I never saw this before.
I have been using the Sonic - later Roxio - software since Tivo2Go first was released. At the beginning this was a rock-solid product that happily edited the Tivo file video and then burned it to a DVD.
Those days are long gone. For me Roxio Creator is an exercise in frustration. For me success or failure is a completely random outcome. The software just seems to be fragile to the point of being unusable for me. When it works it's great but I just can't count on it to work.
I am looking for software that will allow me to take an HD Tivo file and edit it a bit. Roxio Creator is pretty good at that. Now comes the problem area. Roxio's myDVD has issues burning that edited file to a AVCHD DVD. It seems to be an issue with having chapters in the output.
That's the issue and I've been fighting it since I tried getting a true HD output burned to a disc.
Is there a DVD maker software available - other than Roxio Creator - that will take a HD Tivo file (or a file with the Tivo wrapper removed) and allow one to edit it and burn AVCHD output to a DVD.
When I upgraded to the Premier Tivo 2 years ago, the only feature that I missed was the category Filter in the Guide Options...
1. Why don't we have this simple feature yet???
2. Will we ever get it again?
Another case of "I would guess I'm the only one watching this, but just in case..."
I am totally addicted to this show. And I almost never get addicted to anything these days.
It's a great mixture of crazy and kinda sad.
Season 5 of Underbelly started this week on DirecTV Audience channel 101. This season is called "Underbelly: Badness". It is an 8-part miniseries based on actual events of an Australian police department tracking down a gangster between 2001 and 2012. It stars Jonathan LaPaglia as the gangster.
The previous seasons, especially 1 and 2, were excellent.
Getting a tivo premiere 4 xl tommorrow and Just talked to comcast rep in online chat about getting a cable card and he tried to tell me there is no self install and that a tech must install for $21.75 Is that correct? Since comcast in my area allows self installs of set top boxes and cable modems wouldnt that mean that they have to offer a self install of cable card under FCC?
I really dont want to spend $22.00 bucks on something that a chimp could do

I really like this show. The 6 month time jump was a surprise, but I think it worked.
Did Dr Dani (Callie Thorne) have work done on her face? She looks different to me, and not in a good way.
TK cracks me up. "It's not Django", lol! And I love how loyal he is to Dr Dani and his teammates even while trying to maintain the tough guy image.
I like all of the new characters except the Head Coach. Though he may grow on me.
So glad the kids weren't there, hope that remains the same.
And more Nico, though the John Stamos character is pretty easy on the eyes too
When I turn on the TV, my picture on my TiVo will be frozen at current spot on whatever is on tuner. Show isn't being recorded. I can do rewind, and have the full 30 minute buffer, and play it up to current time then it freezes on picture. If I switch channels and go back to the channel it was on, and can view show no problem. Says something like trouble getting signal etc... But it's odd that it is only when I turn on TV, never have any freezing or no picture any other time. I have TW with cable cards. I think, but not too sure that it has happened on my other premiere in my bedroom also.
It is usually the 1st time I turn on TV either in morning, or when I get home at night after work.
Cable card? tuning adapter?
Sorry to double post.... just trying to get this some views/answers.
I have and issue with my TiVo Series3 / WinMFS reported here:
Please post replies in the original post.
Mods feel free to lock/delete this thread as needed.
I have a TiVo Series3 (OLED TCD648250B). In 2010 I updated the drive to a 1.5T WD EARS HD and expanded it up to the 1.26T capacity via WinMFS. I turned off intelipark via WDidle3 /d. This worked fine for 2.5 years. The S3 has recently begun to reboot and so I decided to just re-image a new drive. I took backups of my original 250G HD in 2010.
So I restore the image to another WD 1.5T with intelipark turned off, I answer yes to expand and then supersize it. Put it back into the Tivo and it reports 36 hrs of HD capacity, when I expect to see 157 Hrs.
I am following these steps here, exactly.
In WinMFS, select File -> Select Drive and select the new replacement SATA drive
In WinMFS, select File -> Restore and select the backup file you saved earlier. Click Start. This will restore the TiVo software to the new drive.
Note: Do not change the swap size. Leave it at the default of 128.
When the restore is complete, WinMFS will ask you if you want to expand the drive to use the new space. Click Yes.
If you do not see this dialog box, then select Tools-> Mfsadd.
Select Tools-> MfsSuperSize -> On.
Ive done this half a dozen times now with different drives (all WD 1.5T) and I even downloaded a new version of winMFS ( beta 9.3f) and every time it does not show the expanded capacity to 157Hrs.
I am using an eSata drive dock and winMFs sees the drive just fine and does the image OK.
I tried to do the kickstart 54 and it just would not take, not sure what I was doing wrong there.
I downloaded a virgin image from a member here via dropbox for my S3 model, restored from that one too and it also reported 36 hrs.
What in the world am I doing wrong/missing? I dont recall any of these issues when I did my upgrade in 2010.
I don't care about the content on the old 1.5T HD. I can get the S3 back up and running, but kinda wanted to get full use of the new 1.5T HD to get me back where I was before.
thanks for your help.
I have a couple TivoHD's that I've used for years and until now have had little reason to change. I recently moved and no longer have access to Comcast cable. I now must use a rural cable company that does not provide cable cards. Thankfully, TiVo does have the channel guide for my new cable provider but the TivoHD only receives channel 2-99. I assume this is because the internal tuners are analog. The curious thing is that when I hook the cable directly to my newer flat panel television then run a channel scan I receive many more channels above channel 99. I'm guessing this is because most modern TV's have a built-in digital tuner for non-subscription channels. Both the Premier and TiVo HD specifications say "Analog Cable, Digital Cable (may require CableCARD)".
My question is this: If I buy the newer Premier (Not the 4 or 4XL) would it's new tuner receive more of the non-subscribed channels than the TivoHD does? Maybe like my TV does? Remember, I cannot use cable cards with my new cable company.
Thanks for commenting!
Let me go ahead and say what I am using. I have the TiVo HD Series 3, Trendnet Wireless G router, the TiVo Wireless G adapter and a Windows 7 computer with the TiVo Desktop 2.8.3 version.
This is a solution I have found if your TiVo Desktop gives an error saying something like "no TiVo DVRs found" or "there was an error reaching your TiVo DVR". I also have some tips to suggest keeping your TiVo Desktop working.
If you get that error, whether or not your computer and/or TiVo is connected wirelessly, disconnect the router for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Start up TiVo Desktop and you should be able transfer now. If that still doesn't work, reboot your TiVo -- press the TiVo button on your remote, go to Messages & Settings, then Restart or Reset System, then Restart the TiVo HD DVR or whichever the top option says on yours, then press the Thumbs Down 3 times and Enter and let your TiVo reboot and try again.
I highly recommend when transferring recordings to a computer, have that computer connected to a WIRED connection through your router. Otherwise, DO NOT use any internet programs while transferring this will bog down everything and your transfers will timeout and most likely you will have to do the above again.
I had to do this before and it can be a pain but it helps to know what to do.
Note: If use any P2P or torrent programs that may cause these errors as I have stated.
On the good side, if you use a wired connection on your computer, you will be able to use the internet normally and won't have to worry about your transfers timing out.
I hope this helps those out there who have or have had this problem, this is the only way I have tried that works but don't know if there are any alternatives.
This may not work for everyone, we don't all have the same type of TiVo DVRs.
I'd like to be able to take an existing recording and edit the time down. I frequently start a show a bit early and record it a bit long (especially with sporting events) and it would be nice to not have to keep the entire recording around. For example, when recording a football game, I typically record 6 hours - once the game is done, it would be very nice to be able to lop off the last 2.5 hours of non-game recording.
I've been researching the Tivo, and I'm seriously thinking about buying a Premiere XL4 to replace my cable companies DVR box.
My question is, is the Premiere XL4 worth getting at this point, or would you wait for the next round of new Tivo hardware?
Thanks for your opinion on this.
OK, who's going to be the first to say that Mikey's a wimp?
Oh, I guess it's me!
Elliot really needs to give it up and fish! I can't believe that all he can find to do in a hurricane and 50 ft seas is call Val and argue with her!!
Otherwise, a fairly tame episode. Good to see Junior's dad make it through, though.
