With the imminent release of the VM TVAnywhere App and Web Portal I thought we may as well have a single thread in which to discuss it.
From what I have seen of it so far in reports on the web, it certainly looks like it's going to be almost brilliant.
Though I wasn't in on the alpha or beta testing, I am going to be one of the lucky ones who will get their hands on the released version a little early and I will be blogging about my experience with it for anyone interested.
Virgin Media's TVAnywhere
I was reconfiguring my wifi setup in the house to make Airplay work better when I looked at my DHCP table and saw all the devices that have an IP address in my house.
my Macbook Pro
wife's Macbook Pro
streaming radio in my bathroom
4 airport expresses connected to speakers around the house
Mac mini in my TV cabinet
Ooma VOIP box
= 15 devices with IPs
How about your homes?
So, I'm totally satisfied w/the reliability of my TiVo HD (other than the stock hard drive going bad/getting corrupted once). The stock drive's no longer in use.
I've been a TiVo user since 2001 (Series 1s, Series 2 DTiVo for 5 years, and a Series 2 SA for a bit, besides my TiVo HD).
I got sucked into going (back) to D* via some reps at Best Buy but the install hasn't happened yet, so I can back out. I'd be going w/the HR34, mainly for more disk space, On Demand and lower monthly fee (than the THR22).
Would I be disappointed w/the reliability and buginess of the HR34 vs. what I'm used to? Serious bugs and problems requiring reboots to resolve on TiVo HD (and my prior units) are almost unheard of. Same goes w/missed recordings.
re: the latest software release for the HR34 gives me pause.
Any satisfied TiVo users make the leap to the HR34 or THR22? Bad idea?
I am bummed that I will no longer be back to transfer shows to my PC to archive them. I use kmttg for that and a someone time consuming workflow to archive to AVCHD right now.
I still need to run some numbers to see if it's worth the savings of ditching Comcrap and going back to D*.
I can't believe they killed Lily. I knew when they killed Mr Toole and fatally wounded the Swede well before the battle that the battle was going to be bloody, but I really didn't see that coming.
And the Swede, he's really just a big ol' bald Norski Injun-wannabe Rasputin, isn't he? He'll be back, even if he was fatally wounded, tied up, and dropped off a railroad bridge into a river.
Should be an interesting shift in dynamics next season!
Texans play on MNF this Monday (Oct 8). CBS Monday night lineup is being preempted.
It looks like the 7pm sitcoms (HIMYM & Partners) are being shown later that Monday night (Tues super early AM), and the 8pm sitcoms (2BG & MikeMolly) are being shown the next night. I don't watch H50, so I can't help there.
My TiVo did catch the changes, but wanted to give y'all a heads up just in case...
Go Texans! Kick some NYJets bootie!
I need some help trying to figure out my home network using MOCA and Tivo Premier XL4 with Brighthouse tuning adapter.
i have a par of Netgear MCAB1001 MOCA adapters. i was able to set those up and they are working fine. so my home network is supporting the MOCA, they are working in default settings, no problems.
i enabled MOCA on my Premier XL4 which is connected to a Brighthouse Tuning adapter. the Tivo box cannot find a MOCA connection.
does anyone know if the tuning adapter is the problem or is there more to the MOCA settings that i haven't figured out?
i live in Orlando, anyone local dealt with this issue? i am trying to set up Tivo Stream and i need the Tivo factory ethernet port for the Stream to work.
any and all input is appreciated. i am not super techy, but i can mess up stuff pretty easily.... ;)
The new Elite now offers the 30 second scan feature but it not as quick as the old 30 second skip feature whcih you used to be able to program in yourself. I tried to program in the old 30 second skip feature using the old Select-Play-Select-3-0-Select code while watching a pre recorded show but that no longer works because when you hit Select it brings up the reduced guide at the bottom of screen. Anyone know a work-around on this or another way to program in the old 30 second skip since the scan feature for me is way too slow.
Another great episode.
Glad to see the plot moving along. This did not drag.
ROOTs quest continues. Nice little plot twist near the end.
Don't know why more people aren't talking about this show?
I try to get people at work to watch it, just to have someone to talk to about it.
One guy started in the middle of the season and couldn't get into it. :(
I am tryIng to set up moca and stream....please help me!!
1. With my N adapters, I was able to use the TiVo app on iPad no problem
2. I moca'ed my house...it's awesome
3. Added TiVo stream
Now, I cannot even find compatible devices to even get on the app. It wants me to sign on as away device. This is so annoying!
I have cycled everything, network remote is "on", deleted and put app back on, made sure settings in my account are proper, called and wasted many many minutes with TiVo support.
I have a most vexing problem. I have a TiVo Premiere (2 tuner) with a M card installed. It has been working fine, but we had all manners of cable issues today. At one point my 2.5 Mbps down was running at .29. I hadn't been getting any live TV on one tuner but was on a second due I think to the TiVo recording on the other channel.
It is looking like recording is working fine and that will result in video display on that channel but there is no live TV. I have restarted my TiVo. Where should I go from there?
I'm glad because I hated when they showed it after Halloween, but I wonder why they're showing it so early this year tonight. I hope it doesn't suck.
Recently got a TiVo Premiere Elite XL4 TCD758250. This is my 5th TiVo. I have been a TiVo user since the original TiVo 1 which I bought in 1999. Have done many upgrades but this one didn't need any or at least yet.
Posted my review on Squidoo.
Could use some Squiddo likes if you like it or any comments.
I have a TIVO Premiere. Can you please tell me what is the difference in picture quality if I record using any of the following?
Best, High, Medium or Basic. Other than more storage space on my TIVO is there any detectable difference in what I am recording and watching on my TV?
It appears shows I've streamed or downloaded via Tivo Stream are disappearing. Nothing shows that that have been deleted, but they are definitely gone from my list of shows. This is a bit troublesome (especially with HBO content) when I want to watch a show my wife has watched already via an iPad, or that I wanted to save to watch again later. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
I'm still trying to track the issue, but my Tivo used to hover around 80-90% full before the stream. Ater the stream, my Tivo is usually 50-60% full. That's when I started noticing the problem.
iTunes has the pilot of Nashville available for free. I've been looking forward to this one.
Little People Big World is returning to weekly TV.
TLC has announced it will premiere Little People Big World: Wedding Farm -- a new weekly series that will follow the Roloff family as they operate a new wedding venue on their recently expanded Oregon farm -- on Tuesday, November 13 at 9PM ET/PT.
In addition to chronicling Matt and Amy Roloff's attempt to refurbish a historic barn and launch the new wedding business, Little People Big World: Wedding Farm will also show viewers the day-to-day lives of the couple and their four children -- including Molly preparing to leave for college.
Little People Big World ended its original six-season run on TLC in 2010, however the family has continued to star in a series of occasional specials for the network since then.
According to TLC, the network will also continue to produce additional specials despite Little People Big World: Wedding Farm, which will initially consist of six one-hour episodes.
Little People Big World: Wedding Farm is being produced by Gay Rosenthal Productions -- the same production company that produced Little People Big World -- and executive produced by Gay Rosenthal, Joe Freed, Sven Nilsson, Amy Roloff, and Matt Roloff.
New to the forums.
My question is this: We are TWC customers and are looking at TiVo Premiere. We have basic cable and HD box, was wondering what we will be charged for if we switched to TiVo.
I understand the Cable card rental, but not sure of other cable charges. would we still be billed for basic cable.
I was just curious before we made the move, thank you in advance and sorry for the newbie question.
For those in the Evansville, IN viewing area who don't watch Grimm while or shortly after recording...
14 WFIE placed a banner on the 10/05 episode several times stating that *next* Friday's episode (10/12) would be pre-empted in favor of the broadcast of the Reitz @ Mater Dei high school football game.
It goes on to say that the new episode "The Bottle Imp" will be broadcast later that night at 1:05 AM. Okay, so that's technically Saturday morning, but you get the gist.
I checked my SP and schedule last night...it doesn't list the game, but the same Grimm ep at 8:00 PM and 1:05 AM. Given that this is a local one-off schedule change, I doubt that it will make it into the TiVo schedule properly before air time.
So I changed my recording to the 1:05 AM showing. Given how bad the local stations seem to be with these late-night re-broadcasts starting/ending on time, I think I'll play it safe and recorde the programs before and after as well...no way I'm staying up until one in the morning to make sure it records on time!
Having trouble with my TiVo Premiere. When I powered it up a while back I got the green screen message that there was a problem and was told to let it run for a while. I let it run for about 15 hours and it never resolved itself, it just kept rebooting and so forth in what I presume was an attempt to repair the drive.
Figuring I had a bad drive combined with the fact that I had a spare 1TB 5400 RPM drive that had not been used yet I decided to replace the drive.
I installed the drive and powered up the TiVo. I'd initially get the "Welcome! Starting up..." screen. Then after a moment it would go off then a few seconds later it would flash back on for a moment along with all the LEDs then they'd all go out and repeat the cycle every 10 seconds or so.
I know a TiVo is not going to run with a blank drive. Is there some way to force it to download the TiVo software from the network on startup? Is that what I need to do in this case?
