Upgrade Options

I would like to know what kind of Premiere upgrade options I have that would be closest to what I have currently.

I only have one tv, one S3, and pay $6.95 per month.

It seems like it's no longer possible to get $6.95/month with 1 Tivo so maybe I should just stick with the S3. I would like to have 4 tuners though. Not sure whether I need 1080p/thx though. Thanks.

Fast Forward with program audio?

Is it possible with a Tivo Premier to listen to the program's audio while fast forwarding? Someone told me this was a feature to Premier (I had TivoHD which did not do this).

Would be a great feature for football games, etc.

Has anybody else observed the Tivo App My Shows Percentage Full report a difference in calculation/usage, vs the My Shows Percentage Full in the Tivo UI?

In my case it is 47% Full in Tivo UI, and 64% Full in Tivo iPad App.

Just added WD Tivo Expander drive so 2TB now. I reported the same percentage prior to adding drive.

Looking for a TV show

This came on in the late 80s or early 90s. It originally was either a made for tv movie, mini series, or just a really long pilot.

It had to do with a spaceship that was a prison, something happened and some of the things got loose and escaped to Earth (maybe only one thing got to Earth). I believe it was in a special containment unit perhaps?

There was a guy that was tracking these thing(s) down, I don't remember if he was from the spaceship or not but I want to say no, and that he was helped with this woman who was a guard on the ship or something.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Tivo Premiere & Comcast Cablecard Question

I have a Tivo Premiere and with a CableCard and it works great. I am getting ready to set my father up, but he wants to get the Comcast HD version which will have it's own Comcast tuner.

Two questions:

1) I can still use Tivo instead of the Comcast DVR (pretty certain that is a 'yes')
2) Do I need a CableCard for the Tivo for any reason (pretty certain that is a 'no')

Any input would be appreciated.

Xfinity, tivo, premiere, on demand, northern virginia insanity

I am at my wits end on getting xfinity video on demand to work on my two new tivo premieres. I feel like i am getting the runaround and i have wasted hours of time in the process. I installed my two premieres yesterday. Everything works with the exception of video on demand. When i tune to channel 1 or 199, i get the error message "Problem with the signal on this cable channel. Trying again."

I have been boomeranged back and forth between tech support of the two companies....the latest is this

- tivo tech support says it wont work because i have a scientific atlanta digital card and that only motorola cards will work

- comcast tech support tells me that i have a one way card and that i need a two way card. They are mailing me two new two way cards and they are sending out an installer to get it configured

After some research, i have my doubts as to the comcast answer...posters in various forums have said that the two way thing is a red herring. I am going to see how it plays out though...i am hoping that the technician will have alternatives on he truck if these two way cards dont work....

Customers should not have to bridge the two tech offices to find the answer. Its crazy. I am not going to attack comcast...i may be in the minority but i really like their service esp some of the mobile apps they have rolled out...i do think it would be in tivo's best interest to work with comcast on a universal solution and set of answers

In the meantime, id appreciate any advice on whether i need to press for a different direction on this.

Single "guide" button press acts as if pressed twice

I have had a Tivo Premeire for a year or so, and beginning with an update a few months ago (sorry that I can't be more specific) the "guide" button now acts strangely sometimes. Probably 10-20% of the time I press the button, it acts as if I pressed it twice. If the guide is already up, it disappears and immediately re-appears. If it isn't, it pops up and then goes away.

This never once happened before the update, and began immediately following. The frequency of the problem has remained consistent (so far as I can tell).

I would have asked something earlier, but I at first assumed that it must have been a bug introduced with the update, and that everyone else would notice the problem and Tivo would quickly patch it. From searching these forums, it seems I was wrong, and that this problem is rare.

Is there anything I can do about it? When it happens 2-3 times in a row, it can be infuriating.

Upgrade to TiVo Desktop Plus

So I have been trying to update the TiVo desktop software to TiVo Desktop Plus. I own a key for it that I bought for a series 3 device. This process is how it is supposed to be done.

The menu is not available on my computer:
3. Open the free version of TiVo Desktop software and select "Upgrade to
TiVo Desktop Plus" from the "Help" menu. Enter the License key provided on
the "Order confirmation" page and enjoy.

Does any one know the reg key for this? I could not find an ini file to add it too :confused:

Vanishing act, my PC under Now Playing

I am a long time user of Tivo Desktop, in fact I paid for Tivo Desktop Plus when it first came out.

I have recently upgraded to a Premiere XL4, quite often when I transfer a movie to my Tivo Shared folder when I go to Now Playing on the Tivo, my PC is no longer on the list.

Usually if I log off of Windows 7, and log back in the PC reappears under Now Playing and I can then transfer the show or movie to the Tivo. My question is, is there a quicker way to "refresh" the Now Playing list to get the PC to reappear? Leaving the Now Playing list and go back to it does nothing, I believe rebooting my Tivo or resetting my router also works. I was just wondering if there was a quick way to do this, from Windows or the Tivo?

V106 Not In Your Account

Every few days one of my premiers starts complaining that I can't get to my other premiers, the other premiers on not on my account. Nothing has changed on my account (according to tivo.com) and my MAK is correct on all of my DVRs. A reboot seems to fix the problem.

It is getting old having to constantly reboot these DVRs.

They are all connected via ethernet switch not through a router, so I am not sure what to do...

Is this a known problem with the current release ?

The first episode of this new show was broadcast Thursday, 1-11-2012, on Cinemax.

This was a good show. It had action, sex, and mystery. I hope they can maintain the show quality.

Give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Does comcast/cable cards still require an installer?

So I'm very tempted by an offer from Tivo for a premier but I'd need to get a new cable card for it. I know when they brought down the cable cards for my TivoHD they required an installer to put them in my Tivo.(that was back in 07) Are they still requiring this or can you just go down to the local office and pick one up?

Mistakenly Ordered HBO Through TiVo - How

Today I checked my Comcast cable bill and there was a charge for HBO. I know I never ordered HBO and so I called to cancel. They told me it was done through the TiVo. They cancelled HBO but I still owe the prorated charge.

I have 2 young kids so it is possible they clicked something by mistake. Is it possible to order HBO without entering a password or something? Is there a way to disable HBO ordering completely? The Comcast guy mentioned that a movie have been ordered through the TiVo. Recently I ordered a movie via Amazon and had it sent to the TiVo for the first time. could that have triggered the Comcast order? I'm confused. Thanks.

Unable to properly fast forward on one station

I have two different Tivos. Both experience different problem fast forwarding on one particular channel but not others.

The problem is the worst on my wife's Tivo, which is an S3 HD . Every time she fast forwards when she hits play she ends up exactly where she started unless she fast forwards well beyond (2 minutes past!) the place where she actually wants to go. And even then it is really hard to get playback to resume at a particular point, such as the end of an ad break. This is incredibly frustrating for my wife and as we all know, an unhappy wife is not a good thing!

On my Series 3, which is older, fast forwarding on this channel is more reliable but I occasionally see the same issue. Also on my S3 for some reason it takes 2-3 seconds for volume to come back up when I resume play after fast forward.

The channel is CBUT (2). Our cable provider is Wave Broadband in WA. Both Tivos have two cablecards.

I would love any kind of solution, workaround, suggestion, etc. You are my only hope! :)
