I have 2 old SD tivos -
if I upgrade to HD and I want to go with two HD tivos.
What's the best deal anyone has gotten on the "new" tivos?
advice, etc. requested.
I am trying to archive some tivo programs onto a home computer so I can delete them from the Series 3 hard drive and make room. I use Tivo Desktop Pro and the quality seems good, but not as good as the original. Is there any objective evidence that Tivo Desktop maintains the quality of the original or not? I hate to delete some shows until I understand this issue. I only record in highest quality, and transfer the programs to the desktop using tivo software. The Tivo Desktop images seem slightly more pixelated. Thanks
Called it! I can hear the strains of "I'm My Own Grandpa" in the distance. :)
If Rumpel KNEW that "the boy" would be his undoing, why has he let Henry live this long?
They've really folded this story in on itself with this revelation. I actually kind of like that.
I'm curious what the fallout will be of the cellphone video? :)
Given that no one else has started a thread I guess it wasn't just me (and my wife) that found this episode to be boring filler. The whole Jody storyline was a complete waste.
I really enjoyed putting together the pieces of the mystery in the first few episodes of the season but the last few haven't done anything for me. Everything is just kinda plodding along.
Was there a change in writers or the showrunner between seasons?
Nielsen has been working on the necessary analytics technology for a while, with pilot programs studying Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube streaming, as well as with cable companies' tablet applications. The Hollywood Reporter's sources say that Nielsen plans to roll out new hardware and software in the 23,000 American homes it draws its data from this September.
i have a series 4 xl tivo now my question is can i take the cable card and tuning adapter from it and if i decide to buy the 4 tuner series 4 can i take it from one tivo and put it into the 4 tuner model? will it work or will i have to have twc come out for another intstall charge of 20 bucks?
Well. First the bad. Wasn't thrilled about the sex scene with Portia and James. I get why they did it but I just found it unnecessary because we could have known that same information from the discussion she had with the boys. It seemed out of place for Supernatural. Not the fact that it was a sex scene but that it was between 2 one off characters and it went on for more than a minute or two. Maybe just me. Not trying to be a prude or anything.
Second. Did not love the astral projection thing. Isn't this something they would have known witches could do? They have come across many witches in the past.
Small details though. Overall I did like the episode. I LOVED Dean pretty much the entire time. He just could not stop thinking about her and James. haha! And we never got the answer to which came first, girl or dog. It will forever haunt Dean.
Loved the opening with them arguing over the Three Stooges. So brotherly. They are getting back on track finally.
And wow just when I thought it was just going to be a light, fun MOTW episode. BAM with all the worst hurtful flashback montage ever. WTF writers. It's like they just threw that in there to mess with us. "hey let's make them all cry"..... not cool.
And I loved the car talk at the end of course. Dean trusting Sam is good... but of course Sam is hiding the side effects from Dean. For once though, I get it. Usually I get so bent out of shape about them constantly hiding things from each other but here, I understand why.
I recently sold a Series 2 (DT) lifetime unit on ebay. The transaction went well, the customer posted positive feedback, and all seems good. However, I noticed that it is still linked to all my other TiVos (S3 & S4s) and can still be seen on my online account (I'm in GA, but the S2 is listed with a channel lineup from TX).
While I haven't really worried about it too much, I just remembered something regarding the online services with the S2. No, it can't do Netflix so not worried about that, but I know it can do Amazon (rental only). When I had this S2, it was linked to my online Amazon account. And from what I remember with Amazon, you can't link individual TiVos from your account. You have to either have them ALL or NONE.
Now, before I shipped it off, I manually cleared everything and didn't do a "clear and delete" from within the TiVo, but should I be worried about the Amazon account linking? Or did the buyer have to sort of do all this in order to get their TX channel lineup and no worries? Its been a long time since I have rented from Amazon, but isn't a password required for renting too? Is so, I should be good here too.
At some point, I ultimately need to move this S2 off my main account by creating another account (as suggested here), but until then was just wondering about the Amazon service with an S2.
Does the series 3 work with time warners New digital switched video?
what are the implications of not doing what you would say, playing the idol?
i FF thru most of this because i dont like the soap opera aspect but i'm glad i caught that. in the beginning of the show, mini russell sure was a firecracker. there had to be more off camera stuff said to calm him down.
still woulda been nice to see him go ape on the camp for comedic value
the bulge in the pants comment was an all time classic
I have 3 active TiVos (and one inactive) and having just lost analog cable I'm wondering if there's a way to shift the plans around. The machines are:
- S2DT (500GB) [S2/500]: Service only, annual (paid through May 2013)
- S2DT (80GB) [S2/80]: TiVo Lifetime Service since 2004
- Premiere (320GB) [P]: Service Only, 1 Year, Monthly (looks like I'm committed through Aug 2013)
I assume TiVo won't refund the remaining partial year on the S2/500? Or credit to another box? In that case I'm wondering about loading it up with recordings from the PC, the S2/80, and maybe SD from the P (if SD recorded on the P is compatible with an S2), then not renewing service in May. I don't have a signal for it to record any more (I could invest in a digital-analog adapter I suppose, but it seems like throwing good money after bad).
Is there likely any way I can move the LT from the S2/80 onto either the S2/500 or the P? I guess if not, I could again transfer SD recordings from the past or from the P. If I were willing to lose (or transfer to PC) everything on the S2/80, I could swap in the 500GB and use it with LT service?
Finally, if TiVo's not going to let me transfer the LT from S2/80 to P, am I allowed to sign up for LT on the P now? I just paid $13 for another month and I'm thinking that if I want LT then I might as well get it now for $400 rather than waiting another 6 months. Is $400 (MSD price) the best I'm likely to get on the P?
[added: I also noticed there's no offer of a year @ $99 on the S2/500. Only $9.95/mo or $399.99 LT (MSD pricing). Is that new?
Until a few days ago transfers were done without any problem.
For the last 3 days I repeatedly get "Failed" when trying to transfer from TiVo to desktop with comment: "The system cannot find the file specified."
Can someone please explain and help me rectify this issue.
One of my S2s quit. No lights, nothing. Took out the ps and when I turned it over on the underside, one leg off the AC input connector at the solder joint was burned open. did a qick check for shorts, found none and put it back into the box. Applying AC, for a second the gray screen flashed by and the front light started to flash green & orange I believe. Unplugged it right away, took out the ps supply and took one out of a S2 540 box which was working, but not subbed. The S2 240 fired right up like nothing happened.
Did some reading and ordered 2 sets of capacitors from Mouser. Paid for USPS shipping and they send it 2nd day air.
My question is or are :
Are these caps the same for the S2 as listed for S3 models ? Couldn't find parts listings for S2 power supply.
Is there a schematic available for S2 ? 240 and 540 series ?
How do you get that white epoxy or whatever covers the caps off ?
Couldn't find any info about that.
Not related to this problem. Is it worth to get a mother board fixed with a lifetime sub ? I think $ 150.- is being charged for a repair job.
Thanks for any info.
Nevermind I figured it out.
I am going through the process of learning about my new TiVo Premier. I have been using a DVR for years so I have been a little spoiled.
One of things I am trying to learn is the hidden keys (short cuts) on the remote. For example has someone compiled a list of short cuts to get things done quickly?
Examples would be, while watching a recording and you decide you do not want the show, is to hit the “left” arrow key (to mimic a “stop” key) to generate the question to “delete this show”.
Another example is there a universal or “exit” or “clear” the screen key for "any" screen you may be on?
I bought this direct from Tivo and decided not to use it.
Before putting it on eBay I thought I'd see if a member here wants it.
I'll take $50.00 shipped in CONUS via PayPal personal.
I have 100% feedback on eBay over 10+ years.
I have this old Series 2 I have sitting around and have decided to finally sell it.
It is still listed on my account on tivo.com, under Inactive TiVo devices
I will not sell on ebay unless it is the last resort, plan on selling it on craigslist
Already cleared all recordings, data, etc.
How much should I try to sell it for?
Do I have to give the future owner some personal information when they buy this unit from me in order to re-activate under a different account?
Do they still allow service subscription and/or support for this series of devices?
showed up today in the clearance center at tivo.com
I currently picked up an older Series 3 (OLED) for cheap on Craiglist. Mainly got it for its hard drive to put in my other Series 3 (OLED) lifetime unit. Everything works good so far, but I was thinking of then possibly putting in another hard drive I have into the recent CL Series 3 & then trying to lifetime it later for $99.
However, I might be able to get a hold of a Series 3 TiVo HD. The model that has two cable card slots, but can accept 1 M-card or 2 S-cards. I thought I could then maybe lifetime this unit instead.
I like the front clock of the older Series 3 (OLED), but other than the cable card advantage, is there really any other advantage of this TiVo HD over a Series 3 (OLED)? If so, what?
