Last night I recorded a program at 10 PM off the DIY network. This morning, it was gone. It wasn't in the Delete folder. I finally found it in To-Do\History, listed as "deleted" at 11:59 PM due to copyright requirements. WTH? Never had that occur before, including w/other DIY network programs. Suggestions? Advice? (Series 3 TiVo)

I especially liked the part with the showdown with Cortez where Chaplin closed his Bible and showed a handgun he was hiding behind it. :) It seemed that Chaplin knew that the spy was Cortez all throughout this episode, but in the previous episodes they never hinted that he knew, correct?
My WD MyBook 1TB external drive expander has died. "Click of Death".
The good news is that it died under warranty and the replacement drive is on it's way!
The sad news is that I had nearly the entire fall season of all our favorite TV shows on my Premiere, and it was 95% full. :eek: I moved to a new house last fall so there wasn't much time to watch TV and I was counting on catching up now that the move is done. Oh well! :rolleyes:
When the replacement drive arrives and I swap the failed drive for a new one, what happens when the Tivo boots? What's the best plan to pick up the pieces and continue on?
Can I retain all my Season Passes and channel lineup or do I have to start over from scratch and do a new guided setup? I understand I've probably lost all the recordings. Do I just need to go through and delete any existing programs, or is there a chance some of them were entirely on the internal hard drive and are still watchable? Or will any of the broken recordings just disappear from the My Shows list once the new hard drive is married to the system?
Just trying to get some ideas so I'm ready when the replacement drive arrives...
We had to get a new entertainment center and sometimes (a lot) - the TiVos do not receive the commands - usually the dogs is standing in front of one of them.
Is there a device we can purchase to help fix this? I looked at a few products but I was not sure which one that TiVo Series 3 and TiVo Series 2 would work well with.
We also use Logitech 1100 to communicate to the two TiVos.
I *think* this is possible, but just want to make sure before I jump in...
I have a TiVo HD with about a hundred programs that I want to watch, but haven't had the chance. I'd like to upgrade to a Premiere, and expand the Premiere's HD to at least 2TB.
I haven't seen a way to move the programs from the TiVo HD to the Premiere's HD at the time I set up the new hard drive. So, I'm assuming I would need to activate the Premiere, have both machines on my network, and transfer (copy) the programs to the Premiere. Then I could use comer's jmfs method to upgrade the Premiere's drive, right?
Just making sure there isn't a better way to do this, or that there is some reason I won't be able to do the HD to Premiere transfer...

Basic question, I have been using this expander with a DirecTV box. If I connect it to my new XL4, will the programs still be there, are they compatible?
Will it harm my new tivo to do this?
Been running my XL now for about a year on TWC with a tuning adapter and have had the normal "quirks" regarding loss of signal periodically on switched channels. However the last couple of weeks a new problem seems to have surfaced where channels that I don't think are switched (e.g. ABC) suddenly won't tune and the typical TiVo floating error message you see when the tuning adapter is failing does not show. The screen is basically black, if I toggle tuners when I get back to the black channel all I see is the TiVo progress bar on the bottom with the paused icon (hitting play doesn't help.) Multiple channels are impacted though not all of them.
Unplugging and plugging the TiVo fixes the problem immediately. Though things feel "sluggish" after the reboot for a little while.
I feel like this may actually be something on the TiVo end rather than the series of other issues I've dealt with related to the tuning adapter and cable card. Any thoughts?

I changed internet providers...long story short, ended up having to change entire configuration to include location of router. I was able to use existing Slink Link 1 port Ethernet bridge to get connectivity from the router to the TiVo across the room. Now, I cannot connect my Sling Box.
Here is my question, if i want to get connectivity to my Sling Box now, can I use the existing Sling Link bridge connected ti the router as the "hoist" if you will, and then replace the other 1 port device, currently connected to my TiVo with the 4 port device that Sling makes, so that I can connect my TiVo and Sling Box?
Alternatively, Sling makes a Homeplug Ethernet adapter...would that work to pick up the signal currently coming off of the router with the existing Sling Link?
I've got a Tivo Premier and have a cable card from my old cable provider. No problems.
I moved in with someone that already has DirectTV service. I wanted to get an acecss card for my Premier, so it can work with DirectTV.
Customer support at DirectTV is telling me it's not going to work. I've got to have the "special" DirectTV Tivo.
Is there any truth to this? Am I up a river? How do you get a "regular" Tivo to work with DirectTV?
So it seems that right at 8:30 tonight my Elite rebooted causing me to miss about 7 minutes of 3 shows that were recording at that time. One in the moddle, two the beginning. According to the history it was due to a power loss, but that can't be true because it's connected to a UPS and my wife's Premiere, which is connected to the same UPS, did not reboot. So something caused it to reboot at exactly 8:30. Is there anyway to tell what caused it? I had a couple shows ending and a couple more starting up right at that time, so it could have been a problem with one of the tuners or the CableCARD. I have a TA but none of the shows recording were on SDV channels. Hopefully this was a fluke, but I'd like to know what caused it, if possible, so I can keep an eye out for it happening again in the future.

Just got a personalized offer to upgrade one of my 3 HD Tivo's (the S3) to a Premiere 4 for 549.99. Called to see if they would let me upgrade to the XL4, but they didn't. And then I see that others here are getting upgrade offers for their S3's at 249.99 to a Premiere 4 with transfer of lifetime subscription and $99 to keep the lifetime on their S3 plus a free MOCA adapter.
Having had I don't even remember how many Tivos since 1999 and currently having 3 active Tivos I am not amused by this segmentation and I certainly don't think it's justified. Why would you want to alienate your most loyal users in that way? If you are going to make an offer to the S3 owners with PSL amongst us, why wouldn't you make us all the same offer?
And what's it to Tivo whether I am willing to pay $150 more for an XL4 instead of a Premier 4, why wouldn't they let me do that. I guess I should be thankful for that, since I would not have been happy seeing the much cheaper offer made to others.

Just received and email from Tivo offering to upgrade 1 of my 3 TivoHD's (TSN # was given) with a Premier 4. They listed lifetime option of $50 but they want $499 the the Premier 4.
The $549 total is around $100 less than what I could have gotten online with $249 dvr and $399 lifetime. Tempting but hard to replace a working series 3 with lifetime and a year old expanded hard drive when you have Christmas credit cards bills to pay off....
I'm trying to figure out my options. The HDMI port in my TIVO HD is broke, and I want to avoid the componant cable hookup. I have a 1tb drive in the HD I installed a few years ago.
Fair enough, maybe time to get the newest TIVO series box. But, from what I understand TIVO is preventing people from putting in their own drives? What??? And there's only 1 external drive I can buy? And the 1 tb internal drive updates from place like weaknees are like $200?! What a crappy business model. Way to take away options and make people pay more than what they did before.
And it sounds like transferring shows may not work, depending on copyrights?
What the h*ll, in a competitive DVR field why is TIVO removing "features"?
Also, while I'm ranting, did the HD menu's get faster yet, or are they still slugish? Seems odd they talk about new slicker-looking menu's but otoh the performance isn't there (or wasn't based on some reports I read).
Sorry, but been a long time customer, just doesn't seem like TIVO is trying to take care of its customers with this.
I am attempting to use my 1 TB MyBook DVR expander for TIVO as an esata drive for extra storage for my computer. I have been using the 500 Gig but it is failing. For some reason, I am unable to initialize this new disk through disk management on the computer. When I right click there is no initialize disk message and I am unable to format it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am using Windows 7.
