I have some Series 3 TiVos. One of them (S3 OLED) seems to have some bad caps on the power supply (in a reboot loop) & I am trouble shooting it now. The others are working fine right now, but is it really a matter of not "if" their power supplies will fail and rather more "when" will they fail? :rolleyes:
Does anybody have the citation to the specific criteria for a small cable provider to be exempt from the requirement to provide CableCards. I have found lots of reference to "an exemption" but the size seems to vary widely.
I am also looking for a list of waivers that have been granted to otherwise covered providers.

I have an M Cable Card in my Premier DVR. I am thinking about a Romio DVR to replace the Premier. I think my card will fit in the Romio, but will it require activation or pairing? My provider is Comcast/Xfinity.

So, the tech I spoke with at TiVo thought I had a defective Roamio plus. The problem is I didn't get half the channels I was supposed to get, both premium and non-premium. When I was on the phone with the tech, I just tried a few channels and there was no problem. But she said that things didn't look right from her end and that if I had a further problem, she would swap devices via overnight delivery. She gave me a reference number and told me to only speak with her and gave me her hours.
Well, I called yesterday when she was supposed to be there and she wasn't. Today, same thing. So I said bulloney, why do I need her? It should all be documented. As it turned out, it wasn't all documented, but that's neither here nor there.
I spoke with a supervisor who said there are known issues with the new Verizon cable card and the problem I am having is the issue. He said swapping sets would accomplish nothing. And to add to my nightmare, my old TiVo, a Premiere, started acting up yesterday and rebooting like every half hour. Today it's been fine.
My question is that if this is a known issue, why doesn't anyone else on this forum have this problem? I am in an on hold position, waiting for Verizon. I cannot use the Roamio.
Any suggestions? So far, I must have spent about 12 hours plus on this.
i have the series 4 tivo 746 and i was wondering what the voltages that the power supply puts out.
if someone has torn down a tivo series 4 and reverse engineered the power supply.
i know there is 5 and 12 and possibly 3.3 at the hard drive cable but i am not sure what the other voltages are.
if someone has a pinout on the power supply.
i suspect the reason for the symptoms of bad sectors is caused by a power supply on the edge of failure and is starving the system slightly.

basically it is a bunch of capacitors paralleled and as long as none of the pins exceed 15 volts i should be able to use these as a power stiffening device sort of like like why there are 1 and 2 f caps used in high power car sound systems.
I can't seem to change this option. When transferring from a Premiere to my Roamio, I get the menu option Transfer -> from pause point.
I can't get the 'from pause point' to change to 'beginning'
Be aware that on both my S3 OLED units, adding a Seasons Pass since the 11.M update yesterday results in nothing showing up in the ToDo list, no shows being marked for recording. I have reported it to tech support, and there are "scattered reports" of the problem.
If you have 11M, verify that Season Passes are working before relying on them.
Not sure of this is TV/HDMI related or Tivo related. The 30-seocnd skip (used sel-play-sel-30-sel code) does not make the tone sound any more... and on some occasions I notice that after changing a channel or skipping, the audio is muted for a few seconds. Never had that problem on this TV with Series 3... although my series 3 was connected with component cable since the HDMI port dies a few years ago. Anyone see these things on their Tivo? Any ideas?
Well, the fact that nobody has started a thread about this episode yet speaks volumes. I'm guessing that like me, most of you couldn't care less at this point who wins the game. What an absolute dud of a season this has turned out to be.

New Tivo subscriber preparing to set up my new Roamio - I just talked to my cable co. about cablecards, they have a regular, digital and HD card. I'd never heard of an HD card before (and of course it's $20/mo.vs. 10 for a digital). Is this just the cable co.'s way of bundling the HD fee or something more sneaky? They are dropping my charge for the HD-DVR and digital tv, so I'm saving $10/mo. even with the HD cablecard.
I've got two TiVo(s) (OLED S3) that are going to be setup in our vacation home in Florida.
I really don't want to leave them powered up 24/7 because the home will not be occupied for months on end...
I'm going to be connecting a timer or a Belkin WeMo to each to power each TiVo up to get it's daily database update.
Would once a week be enough or can I go once a month?
I was hoping that the Roamio would support Netflix profile selection... does not look like it.
Also, kind of lame for NetFlix to come out with profiles with no password protection!
OK, I'm totally confused. I don't have Tivo Desktop Plus but I do have Tivo Desk Top (the free version).
There is all this talk of "transferring" recorded programs from the Tivo DVR to the computer using DTP.
Using just Desk Top I can copy, not transfer, a recording from my DVR to my computer and I can view the show both on my computer and my TV.
If I delete the show on my DVR I can still view it on my PC. If I delete if from my PC I can still view it on my TV.
So what I'm saying is I am not transferring the program from my DVR to my PC; I'm "copying" the show.
If I come back from a trip I do not have to "transfer" unseen shows back to my DVR as they were never "transferred" to begin with but only copied.
Shouldn't we be using the term copy and not transfer when referring to recordings from our DVR to our PC? Or is this just semantics?
For those of you w/ OTA recording NFL games, do you notice a significant decrease in quality when the camera view is wide/field view (a little noisy, 'halo' around players etc.)?

As background I get anywhere from 60-70's for OTA quality on the NFL channels.

I understand premier 4 tunner boxes and S5 pro / plus boxes can use ethernet port to provide network connections to other network devices (bridge) when using moca. but minis can not do this? Seems a terrible shame if they cant. Would have been a great way to extend my network but if it cant im bettersticking with Ethernet/wifi
I'm not sure if this is a Roamio Plus/Pro bug or some weird SDV side effect.
Situation: Roamio is tuned to the same channel on multiple tuners.
Observation: Roamio thinks it is recording a program while this single channel is active on multiple tuners. However, the channel being "recorded" indicated by the red circle has only a black screen with no audio. The other tuners on that same channel display normal video and audio.
If I cancel the recording on the "black" tuner channel, the video and audio are restored without having to re-tune, but obviously nothing was recorded. I've seen this at least three times during the last week.
