I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit machine - right now, I am only using it for checking emails on Exchange - so that it updates all my other machines
I have a lot of disk space and we also have the NAS325 with 6T and two Roku 3.
Summary (from Speccy):
- Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
- CPU: Intel Pentium 4 /Northwood 0.13um Technology
- RAM: 1.00GB SDRAM @ 132MHz (3-3-3-6) (I have RAXCO High-Speed RAM Disk that I can install on this machine.
- Motherboard: Dell Computer Corporation OptiPlex GX240 (Microprocessor)
- Graphics: DELL 1702FP (1024x768@1Hz) /16MB ATI Standard VGA Graphics Adapter (ATI)
- Hard Drives: 233GB Western Digital WDC WD2500JB-00REA0 ATA Device (ATA) 38 °C - there are a total of three
- Optical Drives:SONY DVD RW DRU-830A ATA Device
- Audio: Intel 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller
I do not know how much RAM I can purchase or if the RAXCO High-Speed RAM Disk will do the trick.
Nothing else will be done on this machine. Is this enough for this to be a functional media server?
Not that EBIDATA smoke and mirrors BS either.
When does Rogers expect them to post actual profits from actual revenues?
I have a TiVo Premiere. I have backed up some shows (like my Blackhawks playoffs games this year!) to my computer, using TiVo Desktop. I then copied those files to a 2TB external hard drive. My question is, is there any way to play back those files from the external on my tv? I'd like to remove them from my TiVo to save space. I didn't think it would work to plug the external into the TiVo, but I tried, and got a message: This DVR does not support using USB to connect a device to add recording space. I don't want to add recording space (I already have the official 1TB extender), I just want to be able to watch the recordings on my 61" tv, rather than my 17" laptop monitor. I don't want to burn them to DVDs, as I have over 500GB of files, some of them over 30 gigs. I suppose I could convert them to another format, but that would be a huge waste of space and time. I use TVMobili with my Blu Ray, but it doesn't recognize .tivo files. Any suggestions?
I recently pulled the plug on my beloved and faithful Series 2, and replaced with with a Premiere which I'm generally pleased with.
The ONE feature I REALLY LIKED on the Series 2 was a Guru Guide I setup years ago for AFI Top 100 Movies. It was like a Season Pass and any time one of those great films came on it was automatically recorded.
I cannot find anything like that on the Premiere. If I go into collections I get to the "AFI 100" but it doesn't offer a Season Pass option, just shows which films are currently "available."
Is my Guru Gone for Good?
For what it's worth....I just watched a DirecTV television ad touting the differences between Dish and DirecTV. After the quality superiority they then touted that DirecTV had DVRs running Tivo software. Not just a small mention but one of the primary points of the ad. Maybe since they are loudly pointing Tvo out they will take better care of their firmware! One can hope.
I guess I will get this one rolling also.
I know I made some disparaging remarks about True Blood earlier this season, but I actually enjoyed last night's episode. I am so used to True Blood dragging out the main plot lines that i was surprised to see Warlow exposed this soon. It also feels like the Human/Vampire conflict storyline is moving fast with Pam and Nora being captured. Does this mean Tara and Eric are going to be teaming up?
Also, was Ben being Warlow that biggest shock that wasn't? I know it was mentioned in a thread earlier this season and my wife called it last night before we sat down to watch it. And then once he bared his fangs to help Jason that all but assured it.
Trying to spark interest ... hopefully not controversy! I (still) use a Tivo Series 2 here in Canada, as most know we have no access to Tivo HD up here due to protectionism of the existing cable companies and non-availability of cable cards.
However, Google TV is here. So I am wondering if a TiVo App is conceivable that would essentially provide a way to emulate the TiVo interface on another hardware?
So there you have it...
Am I late on this? Discussed before or is this a bit outrageous for Tivo to take its amazing service to the next level?
Let me be the first to say it: can Vogel be the new killer?
Well at least they finally showed some of the nastiness the live feeders have been treated to.
Last night was not much of a shocker. Everyone (including Elissa) knew she would be the target this week. Hopefully the veto episode will have a little more action.
I purchased a used Tivo premier off craigslist for $40. The previous owner had the Monthly service $14.99 1-year commitment; month to month thereafter. After the 1 year commitment Tivo offered them the chance to upgrade to lifetime for $199 which they declined. When I called to switch the account into my name the $199 lifetime service offer on the account was still valid and I was able to purchase it.
Sorry if this a repeat but I couldn't find anything. We have two series 3s and a premiere networked. We can transfer from 3s to premiere no problem. And from 3 to 3 no problem. The problem is from premiere to 3s. TiVo says it will add to list even though there is nothing else transferring and the blue light will stay on after you remove todo list but the blue light will not go out. Sometimes you have to reboot and maybe the light will go out, maybe not. This just seems to have started within the last 2 weeks. Before, worked fine. Have not changed any thing on our end, network, etc. I will list some info about the machines below. Thanks for any help in this matter.

I have some .avi files that i sometimes watch on my laptop and sometimes watch on one of my tv's off one of my tivo premiers. I store these files on an external hdd on my network and use tivo desktop to transfer them to my tivo.
They still play fine on a computer but the audio is missing when i try to play them through either of my 2 premiers.
Thanks for your help.

Might sell mine as a last ditch effort for something, not quite there yet but am interested in pricing, Ty.
Followed installation instructions, but I don't think curl is installed. Does anyone know what/how to install curl? Or what package it is part of?
Curl directory in settings is set to: /usr/bin/curl
So ya, seems I need to sell some more of my personal belongings to make bill money since my family had a few hard hits this month.
Any questions you have may be asked here or via the ask seller a question thing on eBay.
All details about other included items can alo be found at the listing, Ty.
Even if you yourself are not interested please forward this post / eBay link to any of your friends who you think may be interested.
This is also mentioned in the listing but one thing that makes my system unique is the backwards compatability since this system is an early model and from what I understand, this is something removed in later models.
Sony Playstation 3 PS3 Console Fully Backward Compatible w/ PS1 & PS2 Games
Also, yes... to some of you the price may seem high but it's not just the system being sold there are other items. That said, it is an Or Best Offer listing so it's not like Im sayin pay me whats listed heh.

Does anyone know a reliable way to extend/boost the HDMI output from a TiVo Premiere XL4 to go 40' or more over an HDMI cable to a TV?
I'm using a 40' Monoprice RedMere HDMI cable but the signal from my TiVo is to weak. I see mostly static and about 5% of the setup screen.
However, my Blu-ray player has no problem with the same 40' distance.
I would expect there has to be a reliable device that would boost the signal strength from my TiVo enough to go 40' but I have no idea what it would be.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas.
I have installed pyTivo successfully on my Ubuntu server.
It starts fine and I can see my server when I go to MyShows on my Tivo.
But how do I see all my Tivo shows, in order to transfer them to my Ubuntu server??
I tried going to my local ip in firefox and the only thing that shows up is 'Settings'.
Is there a gnome GUI that I use to transfer files from my Tivo to Ubuntu? So confused.
FedEx showed up today with a package. It contained a Black felt bag with a small 2 inch square box with fold out AC prongs, DC car plug and 2 USB ports. It has a TIVO LOGO on it. Also 2 USB cables with different mini plugs on them ans a small adapter to go from a mini to a larger type of plug.
There was NO paperwork, no instructions, no nothing. My best guess is that it is a universal phone charger?? (by the way none of the adapters fit my phone)
Just wondering why I got it?? Never ordered it and can't find it anywhere on Tivo site??
I just got an email about this today. I wonder how things will change for them.
