Can anyone tell me why my drs7000n won't receive signals from antenna
I have a TiVO HD (TCD652160) that seems to have an issue when booting up. Basically, it had 1 S-card cable card in it for a few months now and all worked good. It was in a basement bedroom that wasn't used much so I didn't worry about it being a single tuner DVR. I then got a hold of another S-card from Comcast and put it in this TiVo HD. It recognized it, I called Comcast and had it paired and all went well with that. It then became a 2-tuner DVR.
Now, when I reboot it with these two S cable cards, it just seems to get hung up on the "Welcome, powering up" screen. However, if I take the 2nd cable card out and reboot it, it boots up just fine (as a single tuner DVR). I can then re-insert the 2nd cable card and it recognizes it again and functions fine as a 2-tuner DVR.
Is this the way it normally works? Or what else could this be? My series 3 OLED doesn't seem to do this, but maybe these models do.
Also, I realize I could probably just get a single M-card and use this instead, but my local Comcast office has apparently been all out of M-cards for 3 different trips I have made to it over the last 3 months. Due to possible billing issues that may get messed up with my account, I don't want to call them and have them mail me an M-card either so I am just gonna stick with these S-cards for now.
So, do these Series 3 TiVo HDs sometimes work like this? Is there maybe something I am not doing correctly here? Just curious.
My TiVo just died. :( Sniff. Since the new models are reportedly about to come out, what would you smart TiVo aficionados advise? I had been hoping to wait until the new models came out to buy a new unit, but now I'm stuck both without a TiVo and without reception (no cable box and absolutely no reception out here without cable). The first one being the bigger problem obviously. Unfortunately, I don't have the technical proficiency many of you here do. Nor the time right now to do a bunch of tests. I'm just interested in a new unit. Wondering what my best option is. Wait for the new units? Order a Premiere (I understand there are performance complaints)? Other options? It's a TiVo HD with lifetime.
What are the chances WeaKnees or some other place can salvage my recordings? Since I'm stuck at the powering up screen, it could very well be a bad HD. I had tried and tried to transfer the recordings, but had some unresolved tech issues with certain recordings although the recordings weren't copyright-protected. Are there other places besides WeaKnees that do this kind of work? I'm clear across the country...
Advice would be so very much appreciated.
This is an odd one - every once in a while - averaging about once every 4-6 weeks - our P4 will be working fine and then just freeze, and usually slowly die and ultimately go into a reboot....or we will have to unplug it.
I think I've read on here before that manually rebooting occasionally is a good idea - though I never remember to do this. We keep ours on a UPS since our area has daily storms and tiny power outages almost as frequently.
Guess if I'm wondering if this is an ominous sign? We bought the extended warranty FWIW.
All Boston local broadcast stations are all marked as "copy protected" on my TiVo series 2. This prevents you from saving programs for more than a week.
My Tivo Series two controls the Comcast Set Tob Box using an IR blaster, of course this already means my Second tuner is useless.
And now this "new" problem comes up, I can't save a program for > 24 hours after I start watching, and this most restrictive "copy control" setting
deletes the programs after 7 days.
This has been going on since 8/6/2013, (or possibly after midnight on 8/6) roughly. And it violates the FCC "Plug and Play" agreement - Google it - EFF has a copy
How can I get through to the right person at comcast to get their engineers in Boston to fix this? They keep giving me the number for Tivo, and of course it's outside their support hours.:mad:

last night, daft punk no-showed the colbert report's summer concert series, colbchella 2013, and stephen turned it into comedy gold! i immediately replayed the ep after watching - it was classic colbert.

I have two Premieres in my house. When I stream between TiVos, I can't ff, rw, pause or stop. Is this normal?

From the software rlease thread we see the latest live code is;

Unlike the previous v16 code packages these include multiple kernels inside of them. The latest Quattro 2.1 for example includes 3 kernels and each one appears to be for different generations of hardware. This version 2.1 is from Sep 2012 so it is not the latest code.

The new kernel 2.6.37 completely removes the old Gen07 configuration implying this kernel will only work on the newer Gen08/Gen09 hardware which as we know is coming from FCC pics and info.
This code doesn't necessarily look complete but there's an important arch\mips\tivo\Platform file that spells out the hardware of the devices.

Ok, I have gotten my hands on a S3 652, It has Lifetime on it. Also has a 1T Upgrade as well, Not sure if it was Factory or Done by user, if done by user will it void warranty? If so should user have Stated that in Auction? and should i just get a Refund ? and go for the Premier or Elite ?
Once i Transfer the Lifetime Service, Is it possible that Tivo may make the the offer to jump on a Premier 4 or XL4 Which is their Elite Series if i am not Mistaken ?

I just did the TiVo Premiere XL4 & Mini Bundle and it came up to With the XL4 and Mini I added Lifetime Service it came up to a Total $1,164.92 with Tax in my State That is a pretty Steep Price, Don't you think so ?
So i was hoping Tivo would make me an offer i can't Refuse :)

I have a question about Best Buy's extended warrantee on devices like minis.
One of my two minis (both over 90 days old, both under TiVo's extended warranty) stopped outputting video. Working with TiVo, they're calling it dead, and are trying to send out an RMA. Apparently their RMA system has been borked for the last two days, so mine's in limbo at the moment.
This one warranty incident "consumes" the entire TiVo extended warranty for this mini. The replacement they're sending will have its own 90 day warranty, and I'm free to purchase another $40 TiVo extended warranty if I want to extend coverage on it for three years.
That surprised me. Shame on me for not reading the details of their extended warrantee before buying it, but I can't recall any other electronic manufacturer's extended warranty that is only good for one use. :confused:
My question is this. From reading the forums, I see that Best Buy offers a $20 4-year warranty on minis. Does that warranty work the same -- i.e. it's only good for one replacement, and then it's considered "consumed", where it offers no more value.
I've put up with TWC not knowing anything about cable cards and having to reboot the tuning adapter every week, but this CBS thing and missing Dexter has been the last straw.
So I've ordered a DirecTV install. I told them I didn't need a tuner since I have Tivos (one Premiere, one HD XL) and they said they'll just bring 2 receivers. But from reading here it seems that my Tivos won't work with Directv? Is this true? Why do the DirecTV sales people not know this?
Also I stream from Netflix and Amazon a lot - if I do have to get a Genie from Directv do they have these services?
If the Genie doesn't have these services can I keep my Tivo connected with the Genie and just use it for streaming?

I really can't live without the 4X FF to go back to PLAY feature, it's just seems like I lose it each time the Mini TiVo wakes up or I imagining things?
I'm not sure cuz I've had to reboot the little sucka a few time since I got it and set it up on Friday.
Is there a way to make the remote codes stick beyond a reboot?
I'm considering switching from Directv to cable and hate the old school moto UI so I was think of getting 3 Tivo Premieres. My cable company is Charter and I was just curious what/if there were any known issues as of late? I read a few horror stories about losing all channels etc. and that would not be acceptable but I guess more then anything I'm just curious what people using tivo's with charter's experience has been. To be clear I am not in a test market so the tivo's are not provided by Charter.
It was great for an hour and 10 minutes. Then it went off the rails. Just awful at the end. Linden became a complete moron. The writing became inexcusably bad. I just could not believe the thud they ended what should have been a good season with...
I bought a used Tivo off of Craig's list and I need to know how to get it registered onto my account so my PC and other Tivos will communicate with it. I think the Media Access Key on the new device needs to be changed to match my other Tivos and the Tivo Desktop program. I can't find on Tivo.com how to do this. I asked the person I purchased it from if he had registered it in his Tivo account and he did not know what I was talking about so I don't think he ever registered it online.
I am using the "new" Tivo program that lets you watch major league baseball games on your Tivo if you have a paid subscription to mlbtv.com. Very cool. But the last couple games the picture quality on my TV (thru Tivo) has been very bad - as bad or worse than old analog. I just spent an hour with the mlbtv.com techies running through a bunch of options including rebooting Tivo, wireless router and bandwidth (all good). The mlbtv techie then told me to check for Tivo updates. I then said those updates usually come automatically, but I would check. I plan to check a game or two during the week to see if weekend games might be a problem. I will also talk to my cable company.
I am watching the Seattle at Baltimore game and the picture is horrible. Has anyone else run into this problem? Could it simply be a problem with the connection between my cable company and the company broadcasting this game?
Any thoughts approeciated.
For perspective, I am a long time Tivo owner and advocate.
We moved to a new place in Berkeley, CA from Santa Cruz, CA. I have a long time, and reliable Series 3 (the first HD unit as you all know).
I treated myself to a new Premiere XL4 for the new place.
In total, and in summary, I have spent almost 35 hours with Tivo tech support, and the Berkeley/Richmond Comcast folks. As of today, with TWO XL4 units, seven Cable Cards (four of them brand new sealed in their packages) and perhaps 100 pairings, we cannot receive a single channel.
The last FOUR HOUR conference call with Tivo tech support and the COMCAST pairing folks resulted in the final determination:
Tivo asserts there is a new channel mapping they will provide within 5 Business days which will fix this. That means a little later this week as the call was last Thursday. If that fails, I get my full refund and never look back.
Anecdotal information: my reliable Series 3 behaves exactly the same way - no channels whatsoever.
Anecdotal information: the XFINITY 4 tuner DVR works fine so the cable, and physical layer, etc. is OK.
What leads me to believe I am domed WRT the Tivo at this new building is the fact my daughter lives three blocks from here and her Premier works without a hitch. I returned the first "swap out" XL4 after the replacement unit behaved exactly like the first.
Before anyone starts hating on COMCAST, they have gone way beyond to help and are at a loss. At one point I had seven Cable cards, and a two and four channel DVR here without anyone giving me grief.
I can recite almost any field from the Cable Card menus from memory.
What I rhetorically ask is can an incorrect channel mapping result in 100% total no channels? I have seen wrong mappings or missing mappings, and so some channels do not appear in previous spins with Tivo over the years.... But TOTAL, 100% NO channels in what is a major metropolitan area? (Berkeley is across the Bay from San Francisco if you are not familiar).
FYI - I am tired of this whole ordeal. And, candidly, the XFINITY 4 channel DVR is pretty damn slick.
I'll post a short note when the "fix" works or if it does not. I'm not even sure when to test or what to do to test - once the mappings are in place. I assume redo Guided Setup.
My series 3 HD appears to have a bad hard drive(stuck in powering up). A while back I bought a new Tivo premier from Best Buy for $29 open box. Can I take the hard drive out of the premier and put it in the series 3 since the series 3 has a lifetime subscription.
