Are longtime subscribers still paying the $12.95x1 + $6.95 rates xN for TiVo? I know new subscribers pay more but I want to know if others still have their grandfathered rate plans.
I have 2 series1 maybe 5-9 series 2 most having a small hard drive, power cord and tivo remote, hdvr2, DSR704 etc. that I would like to sell in San Francisco Bay area.
I have stage 4 terminal lung cancer so I am trying to clean things up for my wife. I have used, using all of them except the series1 but that is because I have not gotten to them.
$75 for all.
Why didn't Ian just lie to Frank and say "I won't use it on Dan". Then, if things work out where both Dan and Danielle get saved, you use it. If they don't, then you don't use it and you've kept your word to Frank. Why is it so hard for him to lie to Frank?
Frank is clueless about Ian though. He think he was pressured into things, not realizing that Ian hasn't been pressured into anything.
What a great way to kill a vampire, from the inside!
Disappointed in the rebirth of Bill, I was hoping we would put that storyline to rest for next season.
So, a while back, one of my S2 boxes (a 240) that had been upgraded to 160 hour bit the dust. To make matters worse, I couldn't find the original HDD to get it back going again. Didn't really need the long recording time as this was one of my early units and had long been relegated to the family room TV (I also have two S3 HD's, and a S2 DT all purring along happily). Anyway, after quite a while without a TiVo in the family room, and paying the low rate that had been grandfathered onto that box just so I wouldn't lose it, I decided to start looking into my options. Did I want to buy another replacement drive kit at around $120? Buy an older drive and re-image it? Buy a replacement S2 box? I decided to give eBay and Craigslist a look-see. After not being too impressed with the exaggerated asking prices on eBay (even for old 240's), I ran across a listing on Craigslist for a BRAND NEW 540 -- for $10! :D Before going out to pick it up, I called to confirm the price because I thought it might be a typo, but it wasn't -- $10! The box had been given to this lady as a gift, and she never hooked it up. Somehow, she managed to lose the remote, but it came with a used remote. Everything else was still sealed, and even the TiVo had the plastic on the front and not a spec of dust on the fan blades. I'm in the process of performing the initial setup as I type this.
Odd circumstance. My HR10-250 has 64 season passes saved, and is only recording numbers 60-64, the 5 lowest priority passes. Everything else in the to-do list says "nothing scheduled". It started doing this yesterday, when our number of season passes first went beyond 60. Any ideas?
Ok, legal minds, could Apples win help TiVo?
I'm trying to prepare an upgraded TiVo HD for sale, so I went through and did the "Clear and Delete Everything". On reboot, it just cycles through the "Welcome! Powering Up" and "Almost there...a few more minutes please" screens. I've unplugged it several times for extended periods of time, and nothing seems to work. The unit worked fine until I ran the "Clear and Delete Everything".
We just switched from FIOS DVR to Tivo.
We like it better in every way, so ask us a question if you are wondring.
If you are FIOS DVR user, and have never had Tivo, it is hard to explain, but you would be happier with Tivo.
Only regret (possibly) if we had waited a couple of weeks to today, we could have saved $150 by buying the just released Premiere 4 which seems to be the same except for HD size.
That reminds me--so happy to have 4 tuners
I have 4 Series 2 direcTivos that I'm being forced to upgrade to 6.4a to get locals back. I had been noticing for a while that when rebooting I would get an error acquiring the sat info. It was that it was unable to get a signal from the 110. After upgrading one to 6.4a, it took three times through the dish setup before it skipped the 110. I replaced the 4x8 multiswitch a while back with a powered model and that seemed to help for a while. I then took out the multiswitch and connected one Tivo directly to the LNB to test, but that didn't help at the time. Oh, I have a 7 year old oval triple LNB dish. Is it time to find a new LNB? The problem isn't too bad during the night, but it's aggravating after a power blink during something you were recording, especially if you aren't around to tell it to go ahead and watch the available channels. Otherwise, you lose about 15 minutes as it times out the menus.
Another issues I've noticed is that 6.4a will sometimes reboot when it loses signal during a storm. Then it has a really hard time acquiring the sat data since that's what provoked the reboot in the first place, so we're back to taking a while to get back online.
Thanks in advance for info,
Anyone else see this new show on MTV? I saw a commercial for it during Teen Wolf and thought it looked kinda interesting. Just finished the first episode and I thought it was pretty funny. I laughed out loud multiple times and I don't laugh out loud all that often watching TV.
I know there is a UK version of the show. I'm now wanting to check that out.
In the field where old Reggie Gosselin's forty milkers once grazed away their days, two tents have been erected.
Maybe he would just check into the Biltmore, sleep for three days, and then head back into the golden West.
Bronckhorst come to marry men like Bronckhorst?
I just saw the new TiVo Premiere 4s. From what I can tell, its basically a Premiere XL4 (4 tuners) with a smaller hard drive/recording capacity. I also heard that the upcoming IP Set-top boxes won't totally work with the older (2 tuner) Premieres, correct? They will allow you to only "playback" material from 2 tuner Premieres.
If so, I therefore wonder if TiVo is gearing up to release these IP set-top boxes I have heard about since last May. This additional (& cheaper) DVR product seems like a move to line up their hardware offerings more with the release of the IP set-top box.
I hope it comes soon.
Or rather too painful to watch.
And that's just the host. Loud and obnoxious, and barking through the whole show. A total jackass and living up to all negative New Yorker/ New Jersey or whatever stereotypes. This show could be good but they've ruined it with this idiot.
I recently signed up with Directv and, after loving my Series2 for the past 6 years, I decided to get the new Directv Tivo box instead of their own box. The installation guy shows up, hooks all the outside equipment up first, gets the wiring right inside the house, then brings in the regular DirecTV HD DVR. I saw the box it was in and asked where the TiVo was. He responded that it was "TiVo-like". I then told him that I ordered the TiVo box and am paying and additional $5 a month for it. He pulled up his work order and showed me that he was not instructed to bring one. I pulled up my confirmation e-mail stating thats what should be installed. He made some phone calls and during this whole ordeal began berating my choice in boxes, calling it crippled, and trying to get me to change my mind. Long story short, he ends up driving an hour an a half round trip to get the box I ordered because there were no other ones closer. When he showed back up the wiring was still set up for "their" box and he just hooked it up like it was a regular directv box. After he activated it, it was clear it was his first TiVo installation. He gave me the remote and took off. After he was gone I noticed I had no internet connection. So I take a look back there.
Heres what I saw:
the main line from the satellite was being split two ways
- one is going to a DECA broadband converter, which also has my home internet plugged into it via ethernet.
- the other leads to a SWM Power Inserter, then to the satellite 1 input of my TiVo box
- So the only thing plugged into the TiVo box is in the Satellite 1 input.
I saw ethernet ports in the back of the TiVo box and couldnt understand why my home internet wasn't plugged into that. So I unplugged the ethernet cable going to the DECA broadband converter, and just plugged that directly into my TiVo box. Now it has internet connection, Ondemand works fine, and the swivel search works. My current setup is the main line coming from the satellite is plugged into the SWM Power Inserter, then to the TiVo box. And my home broadband connection plugged into the ethernet port of the TiVo. I'm not using the 2-way splitter or DECA broadband converter at all.
My questions are:
1 - is there any features or quality I will lose with this setup up?
2 - is there any need for this DECA broadband converter that appears to be doing nothing since its not plugged into TiVo?
3 - Do I even need to use the SWM power inserter since the TiVo box has 2 satellite inputs?
I continuously make it go away with the frame advance button, but it keeps coming back everynight. Can I disable it?
I hope that the monitor for this forum does not refuse my post as I know it might not be the most appropriate.
Since I have stage 4 lung cancer in several places, I am trying to clean things up at home for the wife does not have to.
I have 2 series1 ($5 each) that work and maybe 5-9 series 2 ($8 each) with most having a small hard drive, power cord and tivo remote, hdvr2, DSR704 etc. that I would like to sell in San Francisco Bay area. I think shipping would not be worth getting that.
I have enjoyed being on this forum for the last 12 years and hope to for as long as I can.
A funny story. About 10 years ago someone arrange a get together for people who liked tivo in the Bay Area and we met maybe in Palo Alto, not sure. Anyhow I needed to get one of my tivos upgraded and I had talked to some guy named Tiger but was unsure how much he know. Later I found out how much I don't know that is if any of you know who he is.
Do the Netflix Icons show up for you when you use the "Browse Movies & TV" menu??
I see the Netflix Icon on very few movies when I use the 'Find TV, Movies, & Videos/Browse TV & Movies' menu. For instance, I'll look for Movies and go to the Westerns category. When I look at True Grit (both the old one with John Wayne, and the new one with Jeff Bridges) they don't have the Netflix icon!!! Why not??
I just watched True Grit yesterday on Netflix on my Tivo, so it is there.. But Tivo won't let me go to it from the Tivo Browse TV & Movies menu? And the Netflix app kind of sucks. I have to search for that exact movie. There is no Western category to browse. It is slow and you can only see about 4 movies in a category at a time. In the Tivo Browser you can select Westerns as a category, and the 'entire screen' is all westerns. You can see about 20 at a time!! That is much better. Argg.... :(
It's season 3 for the Great Food Truck Race on Food Network. Interesting twist this year where the contestants are food truck operator wannabes. Many don't even have any restaurant or professional culinary experience. Should be pretty interesting to see them deal with it all.
