i have a XL4 premiere I want to sell with the lifetime subscription, do I reset tivo to original and delete every thing on it like a phone or will the buyer lose the lifetime info if i do that?
Recently I have noticed big differences in the audio tv volume when playback of recorded shows. One show plays fine and another different show plays very loud and the tv volume has to be lowered. I have never experienced this before until recently.
Wonder if it is the networks or TiVo software. My money is on the tv networks screwing things up.
I have always used the Search TV-Collections-Whats New to look for new programs. This area always seemed to show brand new shows and I could easily investigate and set up recordings for new shows.
Has anyone noticed that that section has not been updated for months? I used the Whats Popular section to see new shows coming up. but I have to wade thru all of the 'popular' shows to find them. They used to be in that separate section.
Just curious if anyone noticed or uses that search section.
I have a tv in a second room currently connected with a 30 ft. Hdmi cable to my xl4. i am able to use my slide remote reasonably well from this other room. I live alone so im not bothered by the fact that i cant watch two different things simultaneously from both rooms - A conviance buying a mini for my second room would provide. The main reason i would buy a mini to go with my xl4 is to get faster apps\menus in second room. The problem with this solution is my main living room would be stuck with slow premier. Does anyone know is youtube app much better with roamio? That is only app i really use from main room.
Alternative is to sell my xl4 and buy base roamio (i dont care about streaming) and continue to mirror my living room tivo to 2nd room and avoid buying a mini. I will loose moca ability that my xl4 has if i do this but Im not currently using moca anyway. Im running Ethernet. If i do decide to keep my xl4 and buy minis and go moca i know the xl4 can serve as a bridge to other network devices. Can the minis also do this? The only thing base roamio seems to be lacking for me is analog audio. In my main tivo room i currently use component video and composite audio out to a 3rd sony crt hdtv. With base roamio are there breakout cables for component and composite? What would they cost? If i decide to replace my xl4 with roamio basic instead of buying a mini for my second room, it occurs to me instead of buying breakout cables for my 3rd crt tv i can buy a powered hdmi switch with 3 hdmi outs since my third sony tv has a dvi input. unfortunantly dvi means id have to use a hdmi/dvi cable which means no audio out of sony crt speakers but i guess i can still buy just the composite break away cables for that? Having a powered hdmi splitter has another advantage because currently im hotswapping my hdmi port on xl4 everytime i switch from Plasma for bedroom or projector for living room. Anyone know the price of a 1 in 3 out hdmi switch. lastly Ive heard picture quality complaints on both mini and roamio compared to premier and wonder if i should consider this in my decision. I dont think im going to buy either a mini or roamio until there is further price drop but would apreciare any innput.
I currently have 5 TV's showing live TV on different channels and everything is running smoothly. No jittery video or audio dropouts. Live TV on the Roamio Pro, 3 Minis via MoCA, and 1 Mini via ethernet.
TiVo definitely did a great job implementing a whole home DVR solution!
400 titles on NetFlix ranked by IMDB popularity.
Like I didn't have enough backed up to watch.
I made some new lists of series to binge on:
There are a few errors like the Dragnet at the end is the Dan Ackroyd / Tom Hanks movie, not one of the Dragnet TV series.
includes "Introducing the New TiVo Roamio DVR", on page 5, with "3X Reward Zone points with purchase" (normal price, though). I was surprised to see that only the base Roamio is mentioned.
Hi, I seem to have a problem. I decided to upgrade the hard drive in my tivo HD. Was debating on doing it myself then I happened to see someone selling a 2tb WD green hard drive setup for tivo hd on ebay for $99, so I bought it. Put the drive in, ran a full reset, went through guided setup and everything seemed great. Starting transferring a bunch of programming to it from my near full other tivo HD with 1tb hard drive. After about a week I was done transferring programming but then happened to notice the programming info running low warning. It had loaded a near full 2 weeks of program info the day I set it up, but seemed not to have loaded any info since. I forced it a few times and it was connecting ok and seemed fine but no new info. I did a little reading and decided to hit 0 on the channel menu and change the programming source from one area to another, went thru the partial resetup, then I did this again changing it back, and after a day it once again had close to 2 weeks of program info. But since it has not added any more programming info again. I don't know what to do, called tivo and they had no ideas. This is free hbo weekend, my other tivo gets the hbo channels and this problem one will not, even called fios and we checked everything on their end with no luck. Also my other hd has version 11m software the problem one is still on 11k. Anyone with any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I'm starting to think Obama might have better luck with Syria than me with my Roamio and Comcast. Anyways, I had a premiere and have not been able to get any channels to show up. Comcast said it was the box. So I got a Roamio Plus. Same problem. The root of the problem with the box is that the cable card has never been able to validate on my end. Comcast says it is validated on their end, but my conditional access screen shows a ? Next to val. So that is that problem.
Additionally, another odd issue is that any time the Roamio does a connect to the TiVo service, it power cycles my cable modem. I have an older Motorola Surfboard modem that works fine for internet and do not have this problem at all the premiere. I was able to do guided setup fine initially but as Comcast and I were playing with issues yesterday, when we tried to connect to the service this happened every time. Anyone else seen this?
I recorded five back to back episodes of Pawn Stars. I set up my shows to record 1 minute early and two minutes after. The four shows after watching the first show would show a small scrambled picture and audio lasting about one to two seconds, like there was a freeze, three minutes into the recording, which would correspond to the show that was recording prior to the current show stop recording. I don't know if this is just a problem on the Roamio or not, as I don't recall that problem on my Premiere XL. I'm going to setup the Premiere XL to see if I can duplicate the problem. It's more of an annoyance.
I went to setup a manual recording and it locked up my Pro. I got the popup for recording conflicts and then it stopped responding.
I tried switching the remote to IR. I also tried using the iPad app's remote and also selecting a show in My Shows to Play on TV. Nothing is working.
Has anyone else had issues with Manual Recordings?
It almost reminds me of the old Elite lockups where the TiVo would just stop responding to the remote. I can still browse my shows via the iPad app, and it still shows something recording. I just can't do anything.
Of course as soon as I typed this up it recovered a few minutes later.
I purchased a new Roamio Pro system a few days ago and it's basically been working well, but I can't get it to share shows with my Mac over my network.
I have Roxio Toast 11 Titanium software and have been using the included utilities Mac2TiVo and TiVo Transfer to transfer video files between my Mac and my old TiVo Series 3 HD unit. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work with the Roamio.
I have Mac2TiVo running on my Mac Pro, and it is currently sharing several files which worked fine on the old TiVo Series 3.
To attempt to access these files on the Roamio, I go to "My Shows". I see "Mac Pro (DVR)" at the bottom of the source list, with an exclamation mark icon. However, when I select that, I just get a screen with the message "The Mac Pro PC's Now Playing List could not be displayed because it is unavailable. Press LEFT to return to the My Shows List."
When I try to go the other way using the TiVo Transfer program on my Mac, it does not see my new Roamio on the network at all. I've verified that the media key is still correct.
Both my Mac and the TiVo Roamio are connected by Ethernet to the same router, so it seems like they should be able to communicate fine. I've verified that I can "ping" my Roamio's IP address from my Mac.
The TiVo network diagnostics show that my Roamio is connecting to the Internet fine. My Mac is also having no problems connecting to the Internet. I've tried resetting both my TiVo Roamio and my Mac but that made no difference.
Is this a compatibility issue? I've noticed that on the TiVo help pages, the Roamio is not listed as a model compatible with TiVo desktop or the Roxio software, but I don't know if that's because it genuinely isn't compatible or if the pages just haven't been updated yet.
Being able to transfer videos from my Mac to my TiVo is extremely valuable for me. If this is something that is supposed to work, then I'd greatly appreciate any advice or help.
I need some help.
I hooked up my Roamio six tuner and the MOCA adapter that TiVo sent with it. The MOCA is connected to my router directly in my library and the TiVo is in the living room. I used to use a wireless network connection before this.
I could NOT get the COAX light on the MOCA to light up. I found out that the POE filter was stopping the MOCA connection. Removing the filter results in MOCA working, but only a workaround.
He's the problem. I have a tuning adapter. I coudn't get MOCA working so I read on the community forum that I needed to split the signal to the tuning adapter for MOCA to work. Sure enough that fixed things. But it broke things, too. I lose about 30 channels on the tuning adapter. I called Cox and they said my signal was too low because of the split into in the tuning adapter. They have a cutoff of -10 and I was -10. Sure enough going directly into the tuning adapter then into the TiVo fixes the 30 missing channels. But now the MOCA won't work.
I also tried a powered signal booster right before the split into the tuning adapter and TiVo and stops the MOCA from working.
Suggestions? I want both MOCA and my missing 30 channels.
I think I saw it somewhere but can't seem to find it. I had some shows from tho web video area set to dl automatically on the roamio can't find them used search and told it to set up season passbut they all show as old
Any help would be great
Is there anyone here who has enough old TiVo models to have the various peanut remotes and can take a comparison picture of all of them side by side?
Off the top of my head I can think of the Roamio remote (which I don't have - yet) which is smaller than...
The one that came with the Premiere which I do have.
The Glo Remote
The slideout keyboard remote
The older Series 1/2 remote that is supposed to be physically like the Roamio from what I read.
I'm sure there's more than that. What am I missing? What did Series 3 have, I don't remember.
I'm buying a roamio and am going to sell my premiere XL4 with lifetime subscription. Is there anything i need to do to delete stuff on hard drive or just leave it as is? Also can anyone get my account info from tivo if they have the unit? Do I deactivate it from my account or does it need to stay on it for lifetime to work with new owner? Sorry for all the questions. Never did this before and usually just pass my old electronics to my kids but they both have directv.
Thanks for your help. Have learned a lot of stuff on this site.
I just took my cable card out of my TiVo Premiere XL and put it into my new Roamio Basic. I got the normal black screen saying to call to activate. Was finishing up some things and came back to the TiVo to make the call about 10 minutes later and miraculously my CC was activated and all my channels are as they should be. No call required.
That's a first for me since getting my first CC TiVo way back when. I'm beyond thrilled with how easy everything has been with the Roamio.
I always thought Tivo downloaded two weeks worth of schedules, but I tried to set my Series 2 to record Survivor, which starts Sept. 18 and it doesn't find it. I also tried searching by time and see that no programs are in the schedule after 7:45 PM on Sept. 18. Is anyone else having the same problem finding programming after Sept. 17, or is it just me? If just me, any suggestions on how to fix it? I already manually connected to tivo and it connected and downloaded just fine, but still only goes out to Sept. 18 at 7:45.
Yesterday when I went to pick up my Roamio I noticed my Best Buy was out of TiVo Streams. The tag said clearance and had them at $119. I was told they had no more streams on order and would not be getting any in.
Does anyone know if TiVo is getting rid of the Streams?
Just got my new Roamio Pro and back in the Tivo family after many years away. So far, so good, but one question at this point.
On their blog, Weaknees says "The Plus comes with an RF/IR remote, and unlike the Roamio, the Plus has a Remote Finder. If you misplace your TiVo remote, just press a button on the Roamio Plus front panel and the remote will emit a signal to help you locate it. "
What button is this? I can't find anything on Tivo's website that describes the butttons / lights on the front panel. The included owner's manual says...oh wait, there's no included owner's manual.
