So I currently live in Kentucky, and I have Insight as my cable provider. Next month I'm moving to Orlando, and I'll be getting Bright House as my provider. I've heard that they have Tuning Adapters, and that we will be required to pay for both the cable card and the tuning adapter. The only thing is, that's all Greek to me. I know basically what the purpose of a tuning adapter. I don't know what they look like, and I just don't know what sort of effect they have on me in my day to day TiVo watching. Is it going to be something as annoying as the old IR cables TiVo boxes used to have to change cable box channels? Is it something I have to fiddle with to change a channel?
Also, what sort of costs are we looking at for 2 TiVos (2 and 4 tuner Premieres)? I assume that's going to be 2 tuning adapters and 2 cable cards. What would the price for that sort of setup run?
Just discovered it started airing Feb 24. Missed the first 3 episodes, an entire tournament. Episodes 4&5 are re-airing tonight. Crud. I should have created an ARWL.
Comcast finally shutdown my analog cable, and I tried their digital, but they left me with none of the stations I liked, and my DT is now an ST, so, I don't want to pay Caomcast another nickle, and just get an OTA converter box.
I've been researching this in the forums, and don't see good options for Series2 owners... problems with the channel X.Y format and such, but this topic seems to have died out a few years ago. Guess I came late to this game.
Are there any good OTA converters (vendors/models) that work well with the Series2 (maybe with hacks)?
OK, I got a hold of an older Series 3 (OLED) on Craigslist. I mainly got it for parts to for my other lifetime Series 3 OLED. glo remote, stock 250GB hard drive and wireless USB adapter.
Anyway, I recently also got a older DELL desktop PC that had a Samsung 500GB SATA drive in it. I pulled the Samsung drive from it, put a Series 3 image in it and stuck it in this Series 3 (OLED). All worked good until recently. I kept getting random reboots.
I actually put the original WD 250GB stock drive back in it and it works fine. Therefore, I think something is going on with the Samsung drive. I want to run a full diagnostic scan on it, but where do I go to get software that will do this? I think I read that Samsung drives were bought by Seagate so not sure which site I should go to in order to get the needed software.
My Lostie co-worker was disgusted by this episode. She said this is exactly what Lost did: drag in something inexplicable, use it, kill it, and never explain it or hear from it again. And have two far-flung characters know each other for no reason. I think she's overreacting. :) I'm sure they will explain how Greg/Owen knows Tamara, and why his name changed, etc.
Why reset Pinocchio to a boy again? That was odd. He didn't lose his memories when going from a puppet to a boy the first time... why did he this time?
Why did Tamara go to The Dragon in the first place? To find "magic"? Did she really think it existed, and kept trying to find someone who had it? Did she know August at the first Dragon meeting... she's roughly their (August/Emma) age... maybe she was another kid in the orphanage... ah, the possibilities.
Who the heck uses a taser as their weapon of choice??
Now that we've pretty much established that Gold didn't remember anything in the early days of the curse (I don't think I'm buying that, given what a devious bastard he is), how DID Henry get adopted? And Regina waited 17 years to do it? She wanted a kid a week into the curse, when Owen was there! Makes me think that if Gold really didn't remember at the beginning, somewhere in the middle he "woke up".
Comcast is offering a bunch of shows, many from HBO, Showtime, Starz, and Cinemax, as well as other networks, through 3/31 On Demand and online for free. I use my old S2 to record On Demand content and I plan on trying to get all of Game of Thrones, Camelot and Hunted. I'd also like to catch up on Spartacus, Banshee, Strikeback, & Generation Kill but I don't see how I'll have the time to do that.
Here is the list of shows they are offering.
I bought the Wii U on release day, due to their advertised integration with TiVo. Since then there has been little word from Nintendo or TiVo in regards to when this will be implemented. In fact, even setting up Nintendo TVii to work with TiVo is a pain, as you have to trick the system and tell it you're using a TiVo Satellite Box just to get it to change the channel.
Has anyone heard ANYTHING about TiVo + Wii U?
Who didn't see that non-elimination coming?
I really enjoyed how most of the teams immediately chose to do the fire challenge and all but one of them gave up on it. Don't they watch Survivor? :p
I'm wondering who had the worst day, Crixus or Caesar.
I lol'd when Crassus asked Caesar "Dude, what happened to you and why are you walking?"
God, I hate Naevia. Will that harpy never die? Crixus was a badass until she turned him into whiner. It's gotten to the point where I hope one of those cartoon anvils falls out of the sky and crushes her skull.
He's a total jerk but Tiberius is no King Joffrey.
This is an interesting one... I like to watch the Science channel which happens to be an SDV channel. Every few days, my TiVo loses the ability to tune this channel until I reboot it - displaying the message "This channel is temporarily unavailable", however during this time I can record the very same channel perfectly. I have two Premiere XL4's both exhibiting the identical behavior, so I know this isn't hardware related.
I wonder if this will ever get fixed?
Today I was watching live TV on one of my Minis. I went into another room and attempted live TV viewing on that Mini and got an error that the only available tuner was in use so would I like to watch a recording instead.
That's when something "interesting" happened. I had scheduled a recording of a live program I had been watching on that same Mini the previous evening. I tried to play back that recording and the Mini threw error code V401 "there was a problem playing your recording".
Other recordings seemed to play back fine. Yet another TiVo Mini teething problem it seems. Rather annoying one too.
It would also be nice if TiVo gave the ability for us to "force" takeover of a tuner from another amino on the network.
I have free tivo desktop on my PC and was able to publish my mp3's to be playable on my Tivo ok, but is there an android app so I can cue music to play from Tivo with tablet instead of having to turn TV on?
On Android playstore the 2 main full fledged apps I see are-
official Tivo for tablet app
- reviews complain of slow app
- unavailable for jellybean
- less features than tivo app?
- faster than tivo app
Anyone care to share impressions comparing these? I just installed Tivo for tablet on my ICS tablet. It seems to run fine for me despite horrid reviews on android play store. Mostly due to jellybean incompatibility? I dont see how to cue music from within app.
Other tivo adroid app I installed is "tivo music server" and it works great as a way to play music from a micro SD card wirelessly to tivo from an android device. all navigation controls need to be done from TV menu unfortunately. The only other Tivo apps I see is "network remote for Tivo" & "RCX for Tivo". These last 2 apps seem to be basic remote apps. Will these or any other apps allow me to cue my music and leave TV off?
I looked through the TiVo Mini manual and saw that the Mini has Parental Controls, but it made no mention of KidZone. Can I assume that KidZone is not supported in the Mini?
Kind of predictable but still nice.
Hello everyone, I currently have a Premiere, Premiere 4, and now a Mini. Long story short, when the wife found out the Mini is going to rob one of her 4 Channel tuners for live TV on the Mini she was not real happy. I'm going to order another Premier 4. I'm going to sell my 2-tuner Premiere with Lifetime if anyone is interested. It's in my computer room hooked up to a UPS and does not get much use. I'm on a business trip until this Thursday so this is what I think it is and I will be exact with pictures of the info screen, outside, and inside including HD and PS when I get home. We are in a smoke free, no kids, almost retired environment. It's a TCD746320 with upgraded WeaKnees 1Tb (could be 2Tb, I'll check). I have original box and accessories. I will ship Double boxed UPS for free to anyone in USA. $390. Only PayPal please. I will post pictures and more detail after next Thursday. If no one here is interested after I post pictures I will move to eBay.
I thought that this was tied to a specific Stream box but I am now on my second one and experiencing the same issue. After several days of no activity, when I go to use Stream, it cannot stream anything and asks me to troubleshoot. It gets hung up on the checking software version step. I then have to restart it and after 5-10 minutes, all is working again.
That is until a few days of inactivity and I go through this all over again. Anyone else have similar experiences? If yes, is there a known fix?
TiVo technical support won't help with this, because it is a playback issue. From TiVo Desktop 2.8.3 "TiVo Desktop Troubleshooting" I get:
You do not have an AC3 audio codec installed. Playback of audio from TiVo recordings from some TiVo DVRs requires an AC-3 audio codec, such as the one included in theTiVo Desktop Plus upgrade. The Home Premium and Ultimate Editions of Windows Vista include an AC-3 codec and is often included with software for playing DVDs.I am using Windows Vista Basic. How do I best go about getting a Dolby AC-3 codec, so that audio will work on playback?
