"Evil will always triumph, because good is dumb."
I figured Cora would just stab Johanna after Regina put the heart back. Why didn't Cora knock the dagger out of Snow's hand the same way she knocked the gun out of Charming's hand?
Why oh why would Snow and Charming have to go so nuts about finding the dagger? They didn't need to put their hands on it. Obviously, Cora and Regina had no idea where it was. Let Rumpel know they're looking for it, but have no idea where it is. As long as they don't have it, they can't do whatever.
Do you guys think that's the real dagger? What better way to keep your enemies from looking for it, than to give them a carefully crafted simulacrum!
They dropped a zillion hints that Neal is Peter Pan. Well, ok, they basically came out and nearly said it. :) So why would you leave Hook tied up in the basement? There's poison on his hook... stab him with it and you win a free boat! If Neal didn't know who he was, I could chalk it up to Inept Emma. Neal should know that Hook must die. I know, I know: not in the script!
For the second time by laptop keyboard is going. Certain keys will not work. It's a Dell and I've only had it a couple of years. My former Dell did this after a short time too. Stupid of me to buy the same brand but I thought it was a fluke since I've had luck with them before.
Last time I bought a new keyboard that I inserted in to my laptop that didn't work, so Dell said it was the Motherboard and essentially I needed a new laptop, which I then bought from them...duh
So now this. I would call them but it's out of warranty and I know the drill now.
Does anyone know if those keyboard that you plug in to a USB port may work?
..and can anyone recommend a reference for finding a better laptop than Dell. I think their quality has declined on personal pcs.
So a channel had a name change from nicjr to nicjrP (I've seen these types of things happen from time to time).
but I notice my season pass recordings don't reference the new name...so I don't think it's going to record anything. Is it just awaiting game for my Tivo to update to the new name in the season passes? Or do I have to delete and recreate them all for that channel?
I'm a recent convert to OTA. I live in Oak Park, a suburb of Chicago, and have a question about ABC. There are two 7-1 channels: WLSDT and WLSSTA. I assume these are two transmitters, but the weird thing is only one works at any given time. Example: the week before the Academy Awards WLSDT came in scrambled, and WLSSTA came in fine. However, the day of the Academy Awards WLSDT was suddenly clear and WLSSTA was scrambled. Since then it's switched back and forth two more times.
Does anyone know or have a theory as to why this is happening and, if so, how can it be fixed?
I have the antenna (a Mohu Leaf) connected to a Tivo. Since I'm in a condo complex I can't have an exterior antenna, and this one actually works very well minus this one issue. So if there is no way of resolving the signal strength issue of these two channels, and if I have a season pass with Tivo for a show on ABC, will it record both channels, or will it pick the one with the strongest signal?
They got me again. I figured this was pretty safe. LOST-ish, Anthony Edwards, you'd think after Top Gun, and ER, he'd be safe.
I was going to watch Red Widow, but I'm going to Tivo it and not even think of watching it until its renewed. I think if they keep this up, networks will be forced to do it Netflix-style and release an entire season. This is happening way too often
On the plus side The Americans was renewed.
I setup a wish list to record NASCAR so I would not have to worry about what channel it was on. Well come the race today NASCAR did indeed start recording but did it record on Fox at 1080? No, it recorded on the 480i feed:(
I called TS and they said, yep that's how it works, it uses the lowest resolution feed. HOW TOTALLY STUPID!!! What idiot thinks I want to record an low res?
Maybe someone with a brain will realize that this needs to be fixd.
From poking around on this forum and using the The Google, I think I know the answer to my question before I even ask it, but I'm going to check to see if any of the smarter folks on here have a better idea than me.
I bought the Tivo Premiere TCD746320 from Woot! in September. A couple of weeks ago I got the GSOD. It was making it to the screen that means, per my understanding, that it was reading from the drive. The kickstart codes did nothing, it just kept looping. After a few days, I used winmfs tools on it, which I realize screws it up -- but it wasn't working anyway, so...
I've come to accept the fact that the only way to fix the drive is to do a bit-for-bit copy from a good one. But most of the options to do that don't make sense for me.
You see, I bought the Tivo really just to use as an OTA converter box. We recently cut the cord, and we have an older Mitsubishi HD projection TV that is HD (1080i) but has an analog tuner. So I just wanted a simple HD tuner for the remainder of the TV's lifespan (it is impossible to find HD OTA standalone tuners). So I was using the Tivo without subscription. It gave me the channels, without the guide and DVR, of course, but we really didn't have a lot of need for that, anyway.
Because I don't want/need the subscription, buying an upgraded drive makes zero sense to me (especially considering they are 3x what I paid for the Tivo). And I thought about borrowing one from Best Buy, etc., to copy the drive, but the 320GB can't be found in B&Ms (wonder why it was on Woot?).
The closest reasonable option I've found would be to buy a used one on eBay and copy it. By the time I pay shipping, though, a used one will cost as much as I paid for this one.
So, does anyone have any better ideas than me just adding a 320GB, $55 drive to my PC and move on to some other solution (HTPC?)?
for a little while, I've been working on a mobile app that addresses some of the frustrations I have with my TIVO experience:
* TV guide on screen is hard to use, even on my 42" screen
* Tivo interface is getting more and more complex. Apps like iPlayer or Youtube are there but they are buried deep inside the menu structure
* my children record the hell out of the 'kids' channels, so all the TIVO recommendations are skewed towards 3-8y old. Hence it doesn't work for me.
So I decided to build my own app to try and solve this stuff. I'm mostly there.
It's on iOS only at the moment (next is Android if the app gets some traction) and it does most of what I wanted (better EPG, remote control of the TIVO, and learns from my viewing habits).
If you are interested in testing it, I am using testflight to send you the app so visit tflig.ht/SIQ9O8 or PM me.
If the app is any good for more people than just me, I'll put it on the app store. Meanwhile, I'll keep coding ;)
I'm new to this forum but a long-time Tivo owner dating back to the very first Tivo. I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable that me can give me some advice...
I have a Tivo Premiere (320GB) with a failing drive (the Tivo started freezing up during playback of recorded videos then skipping ahead). I ran the SMART test and the drive failed. Other than that, it's not had any problems (no rebooting, etc.)
So I bought a WD20EURS 2TB drive to replace it (if it makes a difference, the drive was manufacturered in Thailand in Dec. 2012) and downloaded the Premiere JMFS bootable CD. I plugged both drives into my PC, booted fine from the JMFS CD and started the copy process. Initially it was humming along, but it really bogged down after about 8 hours (maybe earlier). It's been running now for close to 40 hours; most of that time seems to have been spent on "trimming failed blocks" and "splitting failed blocks".
As it stands, it says:
rescued: 320061MB, err size: 11187kB, current rate: 0 B/s
ipos: 148627MB, errors: 1124, average rate: 2260 kB/s
ops: 148627MB, time from last successful read: 2m
splitting failed blocks
It seems to be reducing the err size (originally it was up at about 14000kb), but very slowly--that err size was 12677kB 6 hours ago, so it has dropped by about 1490 kb in in that time. At this rate it'll take another 48 hours to reach zero (in theory, though the average rate is slowing as well). I fear that it's asympotically approaching zero errors and will never actually get there and will take forever trying.
So my questions are:
- Should I interrupt the process now and try expanding/supersizing the new 2TB disk with the data that has been copied over or should I let it continue doing what it's doing? I suppose I have nothing to lose if the new drive doesn't work, but I'd also hate to have it not work and then have to start the process over again from scratch.
- Is there a better way to approach rescuing the failed drive and upgrading to the larger 2TB drive?
At this point, it's not life or death if I can't save the shows that were recorded on the old drive. Though it would be nice if I could save my settings/season passes, etc. it's also not the end of the world if I lose those. From my research, it sounds like there's no way just to make an image/copy the Tivo OS/files and leave behind the recorded shows, so I'm a little at a loss for what to do.
If it makes a difference, I don't have a spare 320GB drive handy for cloning the current drive, but I do have access to a 500GB drive if that helps for an alternate rescue/upgrade process.
Thanks in advance for helping maintain family harmony (my wife and daughter are already up in arms for having to go 40 hours without Tivo!).
I'm hoping I can get some direction here. I was trying to change the hard drive in my tivo, and accidentally erased (reformatted) the hard drive that came with the tivo premiere XL. Long story what/why I did what I did, but now when I plug in the original hard drive, the unit just blinks (both the buttons and the screen) and won't start up.
Is there anyway for me to reformat the original hard drive? I've searched through multiple forums, but all I find are instructions on how to copy/upgrade hard drive, nothing on how to just format. I realize I lost everything I had on the original drive, just trying to get it to work again. Also, I've seen on the Internet/eBay where I can buy an already formatted drive....but I'd if there's a way to save this drive, I'd rather do that than spend $200 on a new one
Thanks for any help in advance
Has anyone else encountered issues with transfering the series The Following to their Tico Server using the Tico Desktop?
It is the only series that is failing for me.
Has anyone been having issues with the YouTube app automatically scrolling through the submenus?
For the last few days, when I go into YouTube, then go down to "My YouTube", it scrolls to the right as if the right button on the remote is being hit. This bypasses the submenus like Favorites, Subscriptions, My Playlists, and eventually stops at Sign Out since that and Pair are the last 2 submenus to the far right.
Hitting left does nothing and this is the only menu that does it. The menus like Discover Channels and Featured work fine.
Thanks in advance!
I recently upgraded to a 1080p television and was excited to try out the 1080p passthrough mode. However, I have noticeable lip sync issues using 1080p mode. It seems to be limited to 1080p passthrough mode.
I am passing the hdmi to an AV receiver to my TV. The audio is coming from the AV system. Because the problem it is limited to passthrough mode I don't want to insert any delay into the receiver.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
If you are using MOCA have you installed (or had someone else install) a POE filter?
As a new TiVo owner (2 Premiere XL4's), I just want to enjoy my new toys but sadly that hasn't been the case... Out of the box I was getting a few random reboots approximately one every day or two. After speaking with tech support, they had me check my signal levels which were around 95% and SNR at 38. They told me that my SNR was too high and that it was most likely responsible for the reboots. They also mentioned that this could diminish the life of my TiVo's which concerned me. That said, I was encouraged to purchase a mixed bag of attenuators to try to bring the SNR down between 29-35 which I did. I started with a 3db which made no difference in the diagnostics screen, I then tried a 6db, again no discernible difference, then a 10db which brought the SNR down to 36 still too high according to support, so I finally tried the 20db which brought my signal down to around 86% and SNR to 34. The one thing I immediately noticed was that the RS corrected errors shot up from around 20-30 to well into the thousands on some tuners. Tech support told me that as long as I don't see any RS uncorrected errors, I should be ok. All of this occurred yesterday, and since then twice I have been watching TV on one of my TiVo's only to see the message "This channel is experiencing a network issue" on a particular channel or sometimes every channel. Rebooting the TiVo solves this temporarily. I'm so exhausted and frustrated because I feel like I have to choose whether to go back to no attenuators and risk diminishing the lifespan of my TiVo's, or deal with loosing my channels frequently and having to power cycle them...
I appreciate any help...

That must be one of the longest monologues ever, holy crap it just seemed to go on and on.
I remember liking Goin' Out On Top a lot more the first time they did it, though it did get funnier as it went on.
I really like Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, thought they sounded pretty good.
Today I bought a used TiVo Series 3 HD. I plan on using this unit for OTA channels. Allow me to explain my situation.
I currently have comcast internet only. However, the cable line that comes in for my internet, I've been using a splitter on it, one line goes to my modem and the other to my Vizio TV. My Vizio TV has a built-in digital tuner, and I have been getting OTA channels through the cable wire the entire time with no issues.
So today, after I bought my TiVO S3 HD, I thought the mentioned above would work as well for the TiVo. I ran the set up and the channel guide for "antenna". No channels were found using the pre-existing cable I've been using that has been working for my Vizio TV.
Now, the question is, do I actually have to use an antenna if I'm on antenna mode. I mean, the OTA channels are coming over the coaxial cable just fine for my Vizio TV. Please advise.
Second question. My friend who work for comcast has just about every channel for free. He's willing to get me a cable card to use with my box. Obviously we don't live under the same roof, what are the likelihood that the cable card he gets for me will work with my box. I don't have a subscription and don't plan on getting one. Thank you everyone.
I'm thinking of picking up an XL4. I currently have a stream and a premier.
Would the two Tivo's simply work independently with the ability to transfer content show by show or is there an additional folder that would allow you to easily see what's on the other DVR?
If there is deeper integration I would assume it's NOT so robust that either tivo sees that it has X amount of tuners based on the number and type of Tivo's. I.E. I try to start a recording on a tivo with both tuners recording and it seamlessly uses a tuner on the other Tivo.
How does the stream interact with multiple Tivo's? Does it work with both well or is "setup" required when you want to switch between them.
Question for you 4 and XL4 owners out there. I was a former Tivo (original series 3) and gave up on it because it was so darn slow and unresponsive.
Since I am diving back into the Tivo world, my question is are there any speed differences between the 4 and XL4, or is the difference purely HDD, remote and certifications?
I am really interested in the new bundle deal Tivo is offering right now (4, Tivo Stream, Mocha adapter for $300), but would spend a little extra if the XL4 was faster. Added hard drive space isn't a big deal for me
