I have pyTiVo, Streambaby, and AutoPush installed. Each seems to use a different version of ffmpeg, or at least different ffmpeg settings (where ever those are). If I watch a program streamed or pulled via pyTiVo or Streambaby the result is an expected full/wide screen video. If the same file is AutoPushed, it shows up squeezed with black side bars. I am guessing it is the ffmpeg version and/or settings. How can I fix this?
I have a "TV Pass" on Amazon Instant Video to The Walking Dead in HD. The "pass" saves me 5% per episode. It automatically bills me each week when a new epsidoes comes out. Using the amazon website I can download it to my S3 or Premiere from work so it is ready on my Tivo when I get home. But they download in SD! :(
I recall reading here if you purchase an Amazon Instant Video using the Tivo menu instead, it will download the HD version.
So, my question is, must I cancel my "TV pass" and just download them via the Tivo menu if I want them in HD on my Tivo?
Tonight I tried "repurchasing" an episode to see if it would recognize I already own it and download in HD. Of course, silly me, it charged me a second time for the episode.
I'm considering upgrading to a 4XL from a Series3 and was wondering about general performance comparions - button response, menu response, etc. And/or any other performance enhancements and especially anything that might have actually gotten worse.
Reading this forum in search of new info on random reboots and it raised some other questions.
1) Some users list DirecTV DVRS like R10s and others with 6.4 software. Isn't this the same software I'm running on my SD-DVR40 (upgd to 160)?
DTV sent me one of their new units in 2006 and the software was crap (no Season pass, wishlist, etc.
Have things changed? (I called DTV a couple of years ago and the software was the same.)
2) I can't find any info on the coin battery in the Hughes unit. What does it power? Does it have to be change with the power on?
3) What does Clear and Delete do besides clear settings and recordings?
Does it Key a new HD to the unit?
I'm thinking about upgrading my wife's S3 OLED unit to a Premiere so that we can use the streaming stuff throughout the house. However I'm curious, how much will a S3 unit with lifetime sell for. I have all the original packaging, cables, manuals and remote. I'm trying to decide if I should sell it or give it to a family member.
Anyone else mildly "annoyed" by the addition of a tivo sound effect when changing channels now? Wish there was a setting to turn this off (without turning off all the very useful sound effects).
Great episode except for one thing that's driving me mad:
There's no possible way that Saul would leave Aileen alone in the room, unwatched with his satchel, pens, eye-glasses, and whatever other classified information he had in there. There's just no way he would do that.
Especially after Brody slipped that guy a tiny razor blade and he killed himself, Saul, a CIA legend knows proper protocol like that. Sure, give her some contraband bread, cheese, and even some wine (which is very unlikely, but I'll let that go)... but seriously --- he would know she's a suicide risk like the rest of them.
Also, Carrie sure seems to appear to be back working as a CIA Agent, even though she was never re-instated. She has no credentials or clearance, but she sure can get anywhere and everywhere she needs to.
I didn't even know he had a talk show.
I am watching it right now.
Not too bad, but really he needs to not wear the outfit from Survivor. Wear a suit dumb A$$..
I have a TiVo premiere connected to the Internet. Is there away to log into a slingbox account and view the slingbox feed on my Tv, through my TiVo? The TiVo premiere obviously picks up specific websites, such as Netflix, etc. but there is no actual browser. thanks.
Looks like a "semi-reboot" -- they torched the loft, Madeline is moving out, and they killed Card (who I thought was going to be the "Big Baddie" for this season). It'll be interesting if they go in a different direction or if they just line everything up within the new reality.
I have a question about the ending of this episode. Can anyone explain what was going on with Christina Ricci's closing bit about the birthmark? I was fine up to that point, but her joking about it and Alicia finding it so funny made it very confusing for me.
Was it Cary who has the birthmark?
Is there no such birthmark and Ricci "planted" the story with the campaign worker as a joke?
Was it something completely different that I'm (probably) missing?
Hmmmm... please tell me I'm wrong. Last season, in the flashback episodes, when Red killed Peter and the hood was finally thrown on her, she wasn't wearing any clothes as they had ripped off during her transformation into the wolf. This season, Red transforms, breaks out of the meat locker, hides in the forest, and wakes up in her clothes. :( For that reason alone, I thought she was set up... someone broke open the meat locker, made it look like a wolf had done it, gassed Red, and carried her out to the forest so it looked like she had become a wolf when she really didn't (they didn't know what would happen on the first full moon). I hope I'm remembering last season wrong.
Poor Red. "I'm not a killer!" as she stood over the body of her mother that she stabbed with the whatever that pointy thing was.
I honestly don't understand why Red had such a problem in current times. She accepted being the wolf in the past, knows how it felt. Did she forget all about that?
I hope we find out why Granny lied to Red. I figure it's because Granny knew that her mother had become a werewolf, and didn't want Red to join the pack.
So the town is up in arms, torches, and pitchforks, riled up by the King, ready to kill Red. Charming saves the day and spirits Red away in the cruiser. Then what does Red do? She chucks the hood and decides to become the wolf for the rest of the night! I hope everyone really believes that she's not dangerous: those pitchforks are still handy.
Ah, Henry and his magic freebie from Rumpelstiltskin. Definitely going to be a way to communicate between worlds. Good thing the time zones line up and Henry and Aurora are both asleep at the same time. :) So, are there really flames there? Henry seemed to be burned by them, but when he got the charm, he stood there like they weren't there. Odd.
To me, an odd episode all the way around. Good but odd.
Is the Stream a part of the equation to support multi room /multi tuner capability?
I guess what I am asking is how can I use a Premier XL4 box's tuners to allow viewing TV broadcasts in secondary & tertiary rooms & is the Stream a part of that solution?

I thought the time moving backwards bit was pretty funny. The sdrawkcab chicken fight was classic.
I wish the episode would have been an hour long rather than having the 30 minute retrospective or whatever that was with Seth and the writers. Nothing kills the funny more than having the writers sit around and disect the series and how the jokes are derived. yawn
But if they had to show that, they should have shown it before the episode since many of the scenes they referenced in the backwards time ep were shown in the discussion panel.
i just got a tivo and i suspect it uses a 250 320 gig drive and eventually i would like to upgrade ( probably will wait until warranty expires and/or drive failure oand/or i get more and more shows causing conflicts)
i was wondering what drives would be compatible that DO NOT use and power management like western digital does (i.e they may not spin down at all).
and for the 746 based boxes what is the maximum drive size that it will support i am seeing now there are beginning to be 3 and 4 tb drives?
and is fast enough that there will not be dropped frames or blips while recording or playing shows while using the tivo to go extraction process at the same times.
Hi all, I'm hoping someone could assist me. I try to stay out of my wife's Tivo business but I got roped into this one.
First our set up: 2 Tivo series 2 boxes. One is connected via a Comcast digital signal converter and the other an HD cable box.
On the box connected with the HD cable box, the cable was split from the wall; one to the HD cable box and the other into the Tivo. With this setup my wife was able to transfer shows between the 2 Tivo boxes.
However, last month Comcast finally shut off the analog signal going through the cable. I had to switch the setup so the cable went to the HD box and then to the Tivo. Since this change my wife is now unable to transfer shows from this Tivo to the other as everything is disallowed with the error "transferring prohibited by the copyright holder".
I tried researching this but I'm not sure where the issue lies - with my setup or with the HD cable box's settings.
Can anyone provide me with some assistance with this issue.
I swear this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
And or judging by threads, is no one else watching Revenge this season?
How could Deb (or anyone else involved) think that having two uniforms trailing Isaak is going to be enough to stop him from killing again? This is the guy who single-handedly (or maybe he used both hands) killed three (or four?) tough guys at a bar.
And Dexter is sure taking the Isaak threat calmly. Maybe he does not do afraid, but basic lizard brain thinking should tell him that he is running a high risk of being killed by Isaak.
How did Hannah get the poison on the pen? I was expecting her to do it, I was watching for it (the idea was obvious), but I could not see the actual deed. Are we supposed to think that when he went to get the tissues, she quickly grabbed his pen and put some poison on it?
The scene with Quinn backing down when the club owner (George) refused to free Nadia was contrived. There is little reason for the guy not to follow through with the deal. Why risk trouble just for one girl? And Quinn backed down too easily -- he obviously could not legally go after the guy, but he should have threatened him with physical violence.
When Hannah told Dexter that he just would not admit that he likes killing, I was expecting Dexter to respond something like "I do not LIKE killing...I NEED to kill".
I'm not liking the LaGuerta supercop subplot. Obviously the writers wanted to have someone hot on Dexter's trail, but they should have chosen a more intelligent character to do the job.
Oh, the irony. Deb finally comes around to Dexter's way of justice and orders a hit, but she chooses the one person that Dexter really does not want to kill.
