I just installed Wheezy on my laptop. How do I get MetaGenerator and PyTivoMetaGen to work?
I got a Premiere XL4 today, and I'll post more about it later, but it's not doing well in first impressions. First of all, the HD menus are completely unusable, and the SD menus are slow as molasses, but sort-of tolerable, since they are about the exact same speed as the S2. So apparently, TiVo has not advanced the speed of their menu system since 2004.
The installation was also a pain, as it had to connect to the internet 3x, and now it's still processing all the guide data.
One nice surprised was that I have XoD on a SA system that's not listed as having it, and the CableCard setup was great. Out of the companies I've dealt with today, the only one that was good was Comcast. Apparently the world is upside-down today.
The TiVo app is pretty cool too, I was remote controlling it, and the keyboard is great for typing things in to search. We'll have to see how the rest of it is tomorrow when I try to program stuff to record.
The remote is great too. Not quite the S2 peanut, but pretty nice, and it actually is smart enough to turn the AVR and TV on!!!!! I love how it's smart enough to figure out how to do all that at once. We had the S2 remote in it's last days tricked to control the AVR, but now one remote to rule them all, at least at 5:30 in the morning when I just want to watch TV. The only thing is can't do is switch inputs, but I guess I can't complain, as most setups aren't switching using video processors that have discreet codes from the TV and AVR.
Jacob was great! I want someone to freak out the pixie. She creeps me out. :)
I wasn't fully paying attention when Molly walked in at the end, and was temporarily so disappointed that Claire really was a follower. Ha! Had to rewind...
Suppose she still may be, of course.
I have a love / hate relationship with this show. Have to watch, though!
What did you think?
So I am looking to shift one of my lower monthly priced Premieres to my parents and take their Premiere off their account. I know that Tivo used to offer a $99 Lifetime option for HD owners looking to cancel but I was wondering if that offer has migrated to the Premieres. Thanks for the help.
Curious if TiVo has added or address this issue yet? <well its not a defect type issue, more of a request>
On my Hopper from Dish and even my DirecTV DVR prior to that, I could quickly delete a show via one of the short-cut buttons on the remote.
Where as if I recall on the current Premiere TiVo you had to navigate through a few menu prompts to delete an episode. Is this the end of the world - nope
but it is a feature the wife enjoys and would be a check in the pros column vs cons.
I have a Galaxy Nexus that just received the Jelly Bean update. I'm no longer able to connect to any of my Tivo boxes with the Tivo app.
Is this a known problem?
When will an update be released?
Welcome back, Revolution!
Lot's of interesting new material in this first episode of the second half of the first season.
Randall has gotten into the "tower" and is making Grace fix the elevators so he can get down to level 12. Is this the facility that turned off the power, as implied by Rachel when she said she could turn the power back on if she got into the "tower"? And, don't they have stairs to get down to level 12?
What is that thing that Rachel removed from Danny's body? Something put in by Randal's people when he had the operation as a child?
How could Rachel tell which helicopter had the amplifier just by looking at them?
Monroe has lost his amplifier, but it looks like he's going to make some sore of deal with Randal and John.
Did a full season thread for S3, so thought I would start one for S4.
Decent start last night. Some good talent so far.
So my mom's Tivo HD (652) with WD expander has been pixelating a lot lately, as well as suffering a growing number of reboots. Both drives passed the Tivo extended diagnostics. I'm assuming it's either a failing drive (despite the test results) or bad power supply.
Since I have a new 2 TB WD20EURS hard drive around, I thought I might install it to see if it fixes things. She doesn't care about the recorded shows.
So I was thinking I'd use WinMFS to copy the original internal drive to the new 2TB drive and expand it. Then boot the Tivo and tell it to divorce the now missing expander. Do I still need to do "clear & delete everything"? I really don't want to have to redo guided setup and cablecard if I can avoid that.
Complicating matters is I now have a Gigabyte motherboard! It looks like so long as I add the two drives to my "higher number" SATA ports, I might be OK.
I'm asking for feedback as my only visit to her in the next few months is Easter Sunday, so I'm pressed for time and really don't want to screw things up.
Constructive feedback greatly appreciated!
I read an article that says they will be doing a show where they talk about Ryans past as an under cover cop, which was suppose to have been very dark. He is suppose to go under cover for one of their shows. Does any one know if that is what tonights show is or is it scheduled for another week?
but it's not really. We have a new (dec) XL4. So let's say all four of the little recording circles are red. Often, only two of those shows are actually recording. It seems as if more than one of them is on an HD channel, they don't record. (But I'm not sure if that's really a factor or just coincidental.)
So I'll give an example. All four circles are red. I go to Now Playing.
--Spongebob [Yes, I have kids!]. When I click to that one it plays normally.
-- Doc McStuffins. Also fine.
-- Say Yes to the Dress. It appears in the list, but when you click to the show, there's nothing to play, and as soon as it turns 8:30 (or whenever it ends), it disappears from the Now Playing list.
-- American Pickers. Same thing as Say Yes. At first glance it looks like it's recording, but when you actually click on it the screen is just black and it won't play. Then as soon as its end time hits, it disappears entirely.
We have a Charter card. (SoCal). Any thoughts? My husband doesn't entirely believe me, so I'm hoping someone else has experienced this or has some troubleshooting advice. I have no idea what to do. Thanks!
My sisters slide remote broke and now it seems replacements are nay to be found. What iphone app should I tell her to use until I can figure something out? Her Tivo is in closet. Most of the buttons on her slide remote stopped functioning.
I searched around a bit, but didn't see the answer, so I thought I'd ask the question.
I'm a long-time user of pytivo. Many years on the Mac, a few months on the PeeCee.
Has anyone had any luck with the "pytivo YouTube Plug-In"? I know it's not part of pytivo, but rather an open source project of it's own. I tried it some time ago on the Mac side, and just thought maybe it wasn't Mac friendly, and gave up.
Now I have switched my pytivo to run on PeeCee, (months ago) and I'm still unable to get this Plug-In to work. I placed the software pieces in the correct location, change my conf file, and re-start pytivo.
Again... Has anyone had any luck? It sure would be nice to have.
So I currently live in Kentucky, and I have Insight as my cable provider. Next month I'm moving to Orlando, and I'll be getting Bright House as my provider. I've heard that they have Tuning Adapters, and that we will be required to pay for both the cable card and the tuning adapter. The only thing is, that's all Greek to me. I know basically what the purpose of a tuning adapter. I don't know what they look like, and I just don't know what sort of effect they have on me in my day to day TiVo watching. Is it going to be something as annoying as the old IR cables TiVo boxes used to have to change cable box channels? Is it something I have to fiddle with to change a channel?
Also, what sort of costs are we looking at for 2 TiVos (2 and 4 tuner Premieres)? I assume that's going to be 2 tuning adapters and 2 cable cards. What would the price for that sort of setup run?
Just discovered it started airing Feb 24. Missed the first 3 episodes, an entire tournament. Episodes 4&5 are re-airing tonight. Crud. I should have created an ARWL.
Comcast finally shutdown my analog cable, and I tried their digital, but they left me with none of the stations I liked, and my DT is now an ST, so, I don't want to pay Caomcast another nickle, and just get an OTA converter box.
I've been researching this in the forums, and don't see good options for Series2 owners... problems with the channel X.Y format and such, but this topic seems to have died out a few years ago. Guess I came late to this game.
Are there any good OTA converters (vendors/models) that work well with the Series2 (maybe with hacks)?
OK, I got a hold of an older Series 3 (OLED) on Craigslist. I mainly got it for parts to for my other lifetime Series 3 OLED. glo remote, stock 250GB hard drive and wireless USB adapter.
Anyway, I recently also got a older DELL desktop PC that had a Samsung 500GB SATA drive in it. I pulled the Samsung drive from it, put a Series 3 image in it and stuck it in this Series 3 (OLED). All worked good until recently. I kept getting random reboots.
I actually put the original WD 250GB stock drive back in it and it works fine. Therefore, I think something is going on with the Samsung drive. I want to run a full diagnostic scan on it, but where do I go to get software that will do this? I think I read that Samsung drives were bought by Seagate so not sure which site I should go to in order to get the needed software.
My Lostie co-worker was disgusted by this episode. She said this is exactly what Lost did: drag in something inexplicable, use it, kill it, and never explain it or hear from it again. And have two far-flung characters know each other for no reason. I think she's overreacting. :) I'm sure they will explain how Greg/Owen knows Tamara, and why his name changed, etc.
Why reset Pinocchio to a boy again? That was odd. He didn't lose his memories when going from a puppet to a boy the first time... why did he this time?
Why did Tamara go to The Dragon in the first place? To find "magic"? Did she really think it existed, and kept trying to find someone who had it? Did she know August at the first Dragon meeting... she's roughly their (August/Emma) age... maybe she was another kid in the orphanage... ah, the possibilities.
Who the heck uses a taser as their weapon of choice??
Now that we've pretty much established that Gold didn't remember anything in the early days of the curse (I don't think I'm buying that, given what a devious bastard he is), how DID Henry get adopted? And Regina waited 17 years to do it? She wanted a kid a week into the curse, when Owen was there! Makes me think that if Gold really didn't remember at the beginning, somewhere in the middle he "woke up".
Comcast is offering a bunch of shows, many from HBO, Showtime, Starz, and Cinemax, as well as other networks, through 3/31 On Demand and online for free. I use my old S2 to record On Demand content and I plan on trying to get all of Game of Thrones, Camelot and Hunted. I'd also like to catch up on Spartacus, Banshee, Strikeback, & Generation Kill but I don't see how I'll have the time to do that.
Here is the list of shows they are offering.
I bought the Wii U on release day, due to their advertised integration with TiVo. Since then there has been little word from Nintendo or TiVo in regards to when this will be implemented. In fact, even setting up Nintendo TVii to work with TiVo is a pain, as you have to trick the system and tell it you're using a TiVo Satellite Box just to get it to change the channel.
Has anyone heard ANYTHING about TiVo + Wii U?
