Old TBS show

Years ago TBS had show with the ghost of a 20's flapper being a families maid, anyone remember the name of it? Have googled everything I could think of no answer.

Blacklist 11/11/13 "General Ludd"

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 15:46
So Red is Lizzie's father? I'm shocked...stunned...AMAZED...

That they didn't drag it out a whole lot longer.

So I guess Dad's (Real Dad, that is, the man who raised her) terminal diagnosis is what brought Red out of hiding in the first place?

Did anybody else get an ex-lovers vibe from Dad and Red?

Mini boots when I turn on Samsung TV

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 14:34
My Tivo Mini is connected to Samsung DLP via HDMI. Every time I turn on the TV the next day, the Tivo mini displays "Almost there a few more minutes" message which tells me it's either powering up for first time or just rebooted.

I wouldn't mind so much as the Mini works perfectly after it boots but the booting takes forever. I've searched the forums saying that it could be a HDMI handshake problem or perhaps a voltage issue with DLP drawing too much current. However, I have Apple TV, Tivo HD, Xbox 360, PS3, and they all work fine.

Anyone else have this issue? From my understanding the Tivo Mini is suppose to "sleep" when not in use, not turn off completely.

Tivo support says to take the Tivo Mini off the surge protector and/or restart all my network devices (which I don't quite understand how that will help). I'll try tonight and see what happens.

Weird Behavior when Navigating Tuners/Channels/Menus

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 14:01
I have not got the update yet....that was the first thing I checked.

My Premiere did connect overnight.

This morning when I switched between tuners, started a program, deleted a program, etc.....the screen would go blank for much longer than usual and I might even get a bit of "static" picture noise for a second or two.

Any ideas?

Premium Content?

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 13:59
Hello, I have a Roamio Pro and 4 Mini's on order. Due next week. I forgot to check if you can watch premium content (HBO, Showtime) etc. on the Mini's.

I have 4 independent TiVo's now and I know that you can't transfer shows like Boardwalk Empire between the boxes.

Just wondering... Mike

Roamio and Time Warner Austin - found my deal breaker

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 10:42
I was so close to pulling the trigger on purchasing a Roamio and connecting Time Warner Cable. I did a good amount of research on the equipment, service, cost against my current satellite programming, etc., then...
I looked closely at Time Warner Austin's digital cable line up and saw a lot of the little icons next to about 10 of the channels I really like (Military channel, OWN, BIO, LOGO, cloo, SOAPNet, etc.)
Contacted them and they confirmed that these channels won't work with a cable card setup so it looks like I won't be able to give up that many channels I regularly watch.

Arrrrgh. I'm glad I did a double take.

This sux.

Roamio remote communication issues

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 09:06
I am a long time TiVo customer and recently replaced a forever troubled TiVo Premiere with a Roamio Plus. The unit sits in an A/V cabinet directly below (in lower level of home) our living room. With the TiVo Premiere we used a TiVo (Next Generation) Remote Extender to allow the remote to communicate with the TiVo unit. The signal is required to travel through carpet, 3/4" plywood subfloor and 5/8" sheetrock on the ceiling of the basement room where the TiVo unit is connected to my network. The distance from the unit to the remote is never more than 25 feet.

The previous remote extender worked flawlessly, but the new TiVo remote with the Roamio is hit or miss. At times I can perform a function on the remote and the signal is sent with an amber confirmation light on the remote. At these times I can repeatedly continue to depress the same remote button and most of the time the remote will continue to communicate with the Roamio unit. If I move to a different remote command like changing from scrolling down through channels in "Guide" to reverse to scrolling up the remote will work intermittently. At these times when the remote does not communicate the remote light will change to a red signal color.

Originally I thought my issue may be directly related to my distance from the Roamio unit because I was sitting in a location which is approximately 15 feet above and away from the Roamio. When I moved to a location only 20 feet from the unit, the frequency of the problem increased. I then moved to a position directly above the Roamio unit and initially the remote communicated 100% with the Roamio unit, but after only a short time returned to the intermittent communication described earlier. Distance does seem to have some effect, but the fact that remote does have issues regardless of the distance perplexes me. I moved to the room where the TiVo Roamio is positioned, blocked the IR path where only RF signals would communicate between the remote and Roamio, and cycled through several commands from a distance of 10 feet. In this scenario the remote had less “failures” but still had issues where the light on the remote would flash red (instead of amber) and once this would happen would continue to struggle to pair with the Roamio unit.

I have called TiVo Support on multiple occasions without success. I have repeatedly reset the remote to factory settings at the direction of the support reps without success. I have read several posts within tivocommunity.com and see that this has been a fairly common issue with other TiVo customers. I tried to use the TiVo (Next Generation) remote extender with the Roamio Plus but have not been able to get it to work with the Roamio Plus remote. I checked and the Roamio is running Software Ver. which I believe is the newest update. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Might re-connect cable. Q on Roamio

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 08:55
I cut cable a few months ago and I am pretty happy with that choice. However my wife is still not satisfied and wants it back. I am considering doing this as a big xmas present this year.

My question is external streaming to the TiVo. I have ripped my DVD/Br collection to mkv and would want one or more TiVos to be able to index and read off an external source and stream the content. Is this a possibility yet?

I miss my TiVo - DirecTV hardware is meh...

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 08:29
So I've looked around the forums and it seems all of the posts regarding DirecTV and TiVo are at least two years (if not more) old.

TiVo has focused on cable companies and making sure they can use cable cards to receive and decrypt programming. What about satellite providers that don't use cable cards? I moved over to DirecTV recently and got the Genie multi-room DVR since it was specially offered and had better functions than the TiVo that is offered with Direc...

So, why is the TiVo that is offered with DirecTV so far behind the Genie as far as hardware is concerned? The new TiVo Roamio seems to match (or beat) the Genie and the Hopper (for the Dish people)... but I can't get it for my satellite service. What's up with that? TiVo and DirecTV teamed up for the second time several years ago, but it also looks like they haven't updated their hardware since then either. Is their partnership fading, or non-existent?

My old cable provider is no where near the quality or programming choices of DirecTV - that's why I switched... Where DirecTV fails is it's DVR. The Genie SOFTWARE is no where near the quality of TiVo's software. The suggestions are a joke, the fast forward and rewind is skippy and not smooth. The way it fails when reading a bad sector on the hard drive is horrible. The recording season passes is not in any way logical or elegant. This is a great opportunity to kill the Genie that TiVo is missing.

I want my TiVo back, but I want to keep the DirecTV service - having my cake and eating it too would be nice...

I miss my TiVo, but don't want to give up my better quality programming.

PLEASE TiVo - make the newer models available to satellite consumers as well!! You could kill the satellite provider hardware hands down...

Mini + Roamio w/ethernet; Mini loses connection on recording show

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 08:26
A week or two ago I bought a Roamio and Mini. I have them both wired with Ethernet. I'm experiencing this problem:

I'm on the Mini watching a show being recorded by the Roamio. Before the end of the show, the Mini loses connection. I get the alert, I press reconnect or whatever the option is, navigate back to the show, and restart and finish without any other problems.

This only seems to be happening on shows that are still being recorded. Is this a known problem?

HIMYM - Platonish, OAD 11/11/13

Another good episode, I thought. Gives a good explanation to all the recent comments about why Barney "changed".

It was also good to see Marshall (Jason Segel) back with the cast.

I bought one more Roamio Pro than I ended up needing. It's past the return window, so I'm selling the extra. It's brand new and still sealed in the original box. $500 shipped to the lower 48.

Lock a recording

Tue, 11/12/2013 - 04:37
I like the "keep until I delete" feature, but it would be nice to lock a recording so it wouldn't be deleted during a group delete. A locked recording could only be deleted after it was unlocked.

Help With Premiere 4 Signal Issues

Mon, 11/11/2013 - 22:23
Hello, hoping someone can help me with this as I seem to be stuck in Purgatory between the mercy of TiVo and Mediacom...

Yesterday (Sunday 11/10) as of about noon my time, I was watching TV on my Premiere 4 when all of a sudden, the picture went black and got the message "Searching for a signal on this channel (V52)..." I rebooted my TiVo with no success and tried to re-seat the CableCARD. I ruled out the cable run to that outlet by directly connecting the coax directly to my TV as well as trying my working Premiere AND my Mediacom-supplied digital box in which all of that worked great... So it's not a cable/line issue... I'm using Moca and I can still use Youtube, Netflix, etc so my coax is connected as properly as I can check it!

I called up TiVo support Sunday and went through their troubleshooting, in which they blamed it on the CableCARD. I then took my working CableCARD in my premiere, inserted it in the non-working Premiere 4 and had Mediacom pair it to the P4 - no success, I paired it back to my working premiere and it came right back. Today (Monday 11/11) I swapped CableCARDS and contacted Mediacom to pair it to my Premiere 4 - lo and behold, the problem still persists. I also tried this on other known working outlets in my house... Not using any surge protectors and plugged directly to the outlet, etc...

I checked the DVR Diagnostics on my TiVo and I'm getting 0dB SNR with no signal lock or program lock on all four tuners and the modulation is steadily switching between QAM 64 and 256 (which is odd since the Premiere 4 doesn't have an analog tuner)... The OOB is getting an SNR of 23dB with a positive signal lock and a VCT ID of 124.

The Conditional Access menu is showing just 4 lines of information with Con: Yes EBCP: Yes Val: V 0x00. TiVo is saying the CableCARD is the culrpit. We did the 3-way call with Mediacom and they state that everything is looking in order there and sent hits and pairing signals multiple times... And again, 3 different CableCARDs (and at least 1 known working card) and I'm getting the same info to show for each one (and the working card was successfully re-paired right away with my known working TiVo). After talking with TiVo support again today for over an hour, they are blaming Mediacom and the Card again...

Sorry this is a long synopsis but I'm at my wits end. I've had this Premiere 4 since March and as of right now, it is a very expensive paperweight. TiVo wants me to try yet another card while I don't believe it's a card issue... I believe it's a hardware issue somewhere. I just want it to work and right now, I'm just getting shuttled back and forth.

Anyone have any advice or suggestions before I'm driven to drink? LOL

Thank you!
