Getting my Tivo boxes activated through Comcast has been the most
frustrating thing I have ever done. *I bought two Premiere boxes, one was
an XL4 and the other was a base model.
After calling the Comcast activation number 5 times, they said they could
do no more and had to send a tech out. This was also after a three way call
between Tivo, myself and Comcast, the Xl4 box would not activate. *Comcast
kept saying they did all they could do and they sent the correct signal and
the card was activated. *They swear they are doing everything correctly,
but the Con was showing as "Yes", which I know is correct, but the Val was
remaining at "?", which I know is incorrect.
So, I had no choice but to wait three days for the tech to come out, which
he did on last Thursday. *I explained what the problem was and he said to
me "I am not going to do anything different than than you have tried over
the phone". *I agreed with him on this, but he picked up his handheld
device and talked to someone who I could tell by the way she was talking
knew more about this than the 5 other people I talked to in the days prior.
It seems like he was able to talk to an Advanced Support person or
something like that. *Within a few minutes, whatever signal or activation
she sent, she had the Cablecard working within minutes. *We went through
the menus and the On Demand feature was working as expected.
I did let him know I had another box that I would be setting up later that
night and he left. *Of course, I set up the other box and I get the same
exact issue that I got on my first box when I call to activate the
Cablecard. *I call Comcast and explain to them that the same thing is
occurring and they kept telling me they are doing it correctly, which
obviously they are not because the tech was able to talk to someone who
knew what the issue was and had the Cablecard working in minutes. *I keep
telling them they are missing a step and they keep telling me they are not
missing a step and it is just the most frustrating thing to deal with. *I
can tell that the CSD reps I am speaking with really are not sure how to
troubleshoot at all and just are reading from scripts and templates. *So
I ask this last CSD rep to connect me to the support rep that the Tech
talked to and of course he cannot connect me to her. *Wht can they not
connect me to the rep who knows how to solve my problem? *Of course, they
say there is nothing else they can do for me, so they have to send a tech
out again, which will be this Thursday.
Why does comcast not have their act together? *Why can one person know how
to activate my Cablecard, but numerous other reps have no idea? *Why is it
that only the rep the tech talked to know how to do this? *Why not train
all the reps to handle this situation?
I am going to see how the tech does on Thursday, but I do need to write a
complaint letter to Comcast so they iron this process out for future
Philadelphia's Action News has a substitution anchor and general reporter named Alicia Vitarelli who is ridiculously hot. She's built like the proverbial brick crap house and wears ridiculously tight dresses every newscast. I think my head would explode if they ever show her walking away from the camera. She gets five "Dayums!" from me and my buddies. I googled but don't see any pictures on the internet that do her justice.
OK first episode felt like "this is who Will is and what Will has done" second was like "This is how the newsroom is and how we do news" now the third feels like "This is how the show is going to be from now on".
Although they are saying they are fair and balanced and presenting news and facts seems like they are trying to be political just by going after the Tea Party. That could all change though once they hit Occupy Wall Street territory.
Yesterday I was moving my TiVo around and grabbed the case from the front, wrapping my fingers underneath on the right hand side and discovered that there is an active current running through the thing. In the past I had associated the current and subsequent shock to power running in the cable line itself, but when I touched the cable connectors I didn't feel anything. Several times I touched the TiVo while sliding it around to remove the HDMI cable and each time I touched a spot on the chassis that delivered the shock.
What gives? is this current coming in from the cable line, or do I have defective TiVo? It's done this from day one since I first discovered the shock when setting up cable cards and a tuning adapter a few years ago. This THD is unmodded so I know it doesn't have any loose parts I left laying around in it that might be causing it. Ideas? What are my options with TiVo? It's way out of warranty.
Watched the first ep of Sat's double-header. I think network tv must be stifling Price, who wrote the ep. His movies are usually harsh, with an edge. This show is just flat, boring.
Anyway, it's been cancelled. No big loss. I'd like to see Price do a series for HBO, or even AMC or FX. He wrote some of the eps for The Wire, so he's definitely got the stuff.

Every summer leading up to training camp Buffalobills.com asks 25 of the most pressing questions facing the team as they make their final preparations for the upcoming regular season. With Year 3 under head coach Chan Gailey and Training Camp at St. John Fisher Terrell Owens Jersey fast approaching, here is the latest daily installment as we closely examine some of the answers the Buffalo Bills have to come up with between July 24th and Sept. 9th.
Buffalos playoff drought is lengthy. In fact its the longest current streak in the NFL at 12 years. The litany of reasons for the clubs inability to reach the postseason has been covered with one exception. Lost in all the coaching turnover, draft pick misses and revolving door situation at quarterback through most of the past dozen years has been how the team has fared in their own division.
Winning a division title is the ultimate key to the postseason. If an NFL club Marshawn Lynch Jersey can win its division it removes any worry about tiebreakers and scoreboard watching the last couple of weeks of the regular season. A division title automatically punches a teams ticket to the postseason. Unfortunately for the Bills, Dolphins and Jets the New England Patriots have turned winning division titles into an art form.
Over the last 11 seasons New England has taken the AFC East crown nine times, including eight of the last nine. Their division record over the past nine years is 43-11. Buffalos division record over that same span is 18-36.
The Bills last playoff berth in 1999 was thanks in large part to their 6-2 division record when Indianapolis was still in the AFC East. It represented more than half their win total (11) and was crucial in earning them an AFC Wild Card spot with the Colts taking the division with a 13-3 record.
Since the 99 season, Buffalo has posted just one winning division record. That came in 2007 when the Bills posted a 4-2 division mark, but finished 7-9 overall. The low water mark came the following year when the team did not post a single division victory going 0-6.
Despite all that has gone right in building the team back into a contender under GM Buddy Nix and head coach Chan Gailey, Jim Kelly Jersey the teams performance within the division has yet to materialize. Everyone remembers Buffalos big Week 3 victory over New England last season, but it was their only division win in 2011 as they went 0-5 the rest of the way in the AFC East. It was a carbon copy of their division record in 2010 (1-5) with their only AFC East victory coming against Miami.
You cant win the division unless youve got a winning division record, said Gailey flatly. And the goal is to win the division.
Gailey has said more than once that division games count double to emphasize the magnitude of those matchups. Despite New Englands run of success in the AFC East, Gailey truly believes each new season presents a genuine opportunity to enact change in the division hierarchy.
Its a new year every year, Gailey told Buffalobills.com. The Jets have a new offensive coordinator. Miami has a new staff. I dont think New England turned over that much, but they lost their quarterbacks coach, who had a big impact on their play calling Donte Whitner Jersey. They may change a little bit as well. So while we use history as a learning tool, we dont let it dictate anything thats going to happen this year.
With Miami trying to rebuild under new head coach Joe Philbin and the Jets looking to re-tool their offense and add youth to an aging defense, the timing might be right for Buffalo to post just their second winning division record in this century.
Armed with what looks like the best pass rushing front four in the division and widespread continuity on the offensive side of the ball, Buffalo doesnt seem to care that New England has made division crowns a habit. And that attitude starts with the teams personnel boss.
Ill be honest with you I think we can be as good as we want to be, said Nix. Weve got good players, good coaches that work hard. I hear a lot of times, Andre Reed JerseyWell maybe we can be second and we can make a Wild Card. I dont concede any of that and I dont concede anything to New England. I think we can win and our goal needs to be to win the division. Then you dont have to worry about whether youre going to be in (the playoffs) or not.
with my old S3 TiVo, whenever I scheduled a recording, that program would automatically get a thumb up rating. Since I never used TiVo auto record suggestions, I would instead look for the thumb up rating on shows to let me know if I've seen it before incase I forget when scheduling new recordings. With S4 TiVo no longer auto thumbing recordings that means I won't be able to easily use my s4 this same way. What S4 does do that's very nice that kind of makes up for this is it gives original air date of every program which is most missed feature of S3 I think. Now that I won't be able to use the thumb system like I did in the past I'm wondering if I'll find a new use for it. Mostly ifs used for turning on auto record suggestions preference right? Do many here like using this for that?
If I buy two Tivo boxes and connect both to my cable company and both together to my home internet that also connects to the Internet.....How many TIVO subscriptions do I need? One or two?

I didn't have any trouble before had it worked prefectly but for some reason now I cant get it to connect, it keeps saying could not get account status.

The other day Bought a refurb Premiere from another website only to notice a few hours later that TiVo has a deal on refurb Premiere units. The TiVo deal includes a wireless-g adapter and free trial of hulu. Neither of that is important to me. I will get a wireless-n adapter for the TiVo. This leads me to wonder if there is any other benefit from purchasing directly from TiVo? Do you get a deal on subscription?
So I was super excited when browsing the guide to see a little "new" icon next to tonight's (7/8) episode of Walking Dead!
Then digging deeper, that episode description sounded damn familiar. What gives?
After digging deeper still, it appears AMC is showing Season 1 Episode 1 again tonight in BLACK & WHITE and somehow that ends up getting flagged as a NEW episode first aired 7/8/12.
Boo for getting me hopes up like that!
I called TiVo to cancel service on a 160GB TiVo HD that I have not been using these past few months. TiVo offered to extend it to lifetime service for $99 and said it would automatically switch over to lifetime when the current annual service expired in October. I accepted their offer and see the $99 transaction showing that TiVo charged me the $99 for lifetime on that unit.
Do I have to wait for October when the service rolls over to sell it? I would like to sell it right away.
I have the original box, manual, cables, etc, all in like new condition, what is a fair price for a 160GB TiVo HD with lifetime?
Well, it finally happened: the series 2 single tuner's hard drive gave out. The series 2 we bought in 2003 (monthly service on it), replaced the hard drive with a larger one back in 2004 or 2005 and put a replacement power supply about two years ago. We have it hooked up to a cable box in a guest room where it doesn't get much use; it is connected to to a 32-inch HDTV.
So now, decision time: Replace the hard drive again or is time to give up and move on to a Premiere? I hate to give up on a piece of technology that still (mostly) works fine (a habit I picked up from my parents). I had the thought of replacing the Series 2 with the Series 3 from my bedroom, and thus placing an Elite/XL4 in my bedroom.
Replacing the hard drive is a bit more work, but if I get rid of the Series 2, I can send one of the cable boxes back to the cable company. I honestly don't know which way to proceed. Any other pros/cons that I'm missing here?
I would like to do a comparison between the Premier TiVo I received from Grande and a retail box. I have seen some things that suggest there may be some moderately significant differences between the two. I certainly hope so, because this unit is considerably more pathetic than what I had surmised the stock Premiers are.
First of all, the Title Search, one of the very most powerful and important features of the previous platforms, is a piece of crap on this TiVo. There are no filters, and the list is limited to 8 or 10 or so entries. This is utterly useless. The legacy TiVo platforms all offered extensive filters in a 2 or 3 stage progression. Are all Premiers this badly crippled?
Secondly, although the unit does sport much, much faster networking, speed doesn't help if it doesn't work in the first place. I'm using kmttg to transfer material from the TiVos to the video server. This was working on all the TiVos for a while, but then about a week ago, the Premier quit transferring videos via TTG. I called TiVo support, and they have no suggestions. Any attempt to transfer via TTG results in the TiVo returning the following error:
too many transfers in progress
There are no transfers in progress. Rebooting does not help. Transfers to the TiVo work just fine.
Hello all......Just getting to know my new Tivo, and so far I am very pleased. I have one question. I am comming from a Verizon Motorola DVR and when I finish watching TV I would shut off the TV and press the "off button" on the DVR remote to put the DVR in a screen saver mode. Is there any similar "screen saver " mode on the Tivo, or do I just leave the Tivo on the currant TV station and just shut the TV? I notice the green light is always on in the front.....Is this normal?.........Thanks for any Info!
I decided to start this thread because while there are not a huge number of people running applications such as Galleon, pyTivo, or HME for Python under Linux, there are still some of us, and perhaps a few lurking in the bushes who would consider dipping their toe into building a Linux server because of the speed, simplicity, expanded feature set, and stability of a Linux server. Others, perhaps may be thinking of hacking their Linux-based NAS boxes so they can run one of the aforementioned apps.
Basically, anything related to Linux and a networked TiVo is open for discussion, here. Anything related to specific features of one of the popular HMO or HME applications is probably better suited to one of the application specific threads elsewhere in the forum, but if your need is to write a script for handling downloaded videos or for starting pyTivo automatically at boot time, running an application under wine, or even getting a greenfield Linux installation set up for use with a TiVo, this is the place to be.
There are several members of this forum who have extensive experience with *nix based systems, and I invite them to participate. I am sure they will be happy to offer assistance to TiVo owners with limited (or no) Linux experience. While I am no Linux expert, I do have some experience with the OS and with interfacing it to TiVo DVRs, and I will be happy to offer my own help as far as I am able.
So, anyone who is interseted or needs help with any aspect of Linux and TiVo ,speak up!
Im trying to drop my directtv and go to just antenna. I live in a very rural area in northern Nevada and when I scan my channels I end up with about 10 or so unique ones but only 1 shows any guide information. If I get the channel why can't I get a guide to match? I've tried changing my zip code to one closer to salt lake but it just get worse.
