I had to download TiVo Desktop Plus when I upgraded to Windows 8. I have a Series 2 TiVo. When the software wouldn't see my DVR I found out it was not supported for Windows 8, but I kept finding forum users who were getting it to work by using patches or codecs. I called a service tech who said my problem is a network problem, not a codec problem, and they don't support Windows 8 so there is nothing they can do but give me my money back. We tried restarting everything, setting the system to use the TiVo Beacon, disabling Firewalls etc, and nothing helped. I tried to go to several links mentioned in forums about a patch, but every link I tried is now a dead-end. It seems TiVo is disabling those links.
Before I call back to get a refund on the software I wanted to make one last try to find out if there are any others out there who have a fix. Please notify me if there is some patch still active I can download. There is nothing else I can do to the DVR or my laptop to fix it.
I have a recording bug that isn't the same as the back to back recording bug but is similar. I have a season pass for The Amazing Race (scheduled from 8:00-9:00) and The Mentalist (10:00-11:00). Notice that these shows are not back to back. Due to football overages I pad each show by 1 hour. I got the text from CBS that shows were about 8 minutes behind in the NY area so I adjusted the 2 recording to only pad 15 minutes instead of the 2 hours that was scheduled for both of the recordings.
I ended up with a 2 hour recording of the Amazing Race and a 1 hour and 15 minutes manual CBS recording. The same exact thing happened for The Mentalist. Also note that I made the change before either recording actually started. This isn't an overlap recording issue as neither recording was ever actually set up to overlap the other as the shows are an hour apart and even with the 1 hour default pad do not overlap.
Has anyone else seen this bug?
Announced this morning in their blog
I have a roamio pro and 3 minis (via Moca) and only one of the minis connected to a regular 4:3 tv keeps getting a V301 error only on Youtube...Netflix works fine.
I think there's a bug where if i do 4:3 and 480i it hangs...if I do 4:3 and 720p it seems to work?
...Today is a really good day to make sure your TiVo Premiere is on the priority list for the Fall Update http://tivo.com/priority
Enjoyable episode. Thank god the Dana drama is over.
So just who is the Iranian head honcho who nabbed Carie?
Told ya it was a non-elim! [smug mode off] ;)
So now, there's only one Express Pass left and no-one knows who has it apart from the Docs and Pinky & No Brain!
Interesting to see that they only just won, even using the Express Pass, so I'm hoping they are not long for this competition - especially as they now have no bargaining power - even though Pinky said they would lie! Biotch.
I somehow knew that the Hippies were going to get U-Turned and have to dress up as the statues - again!
Oh, and as soon as they read the clue, I said 'Pose'. I've seen the show before and watched grown men cry like babies when they couldn't get the steps right!
Am I just not seeing it, or is it gone?
The YT code still works, but the button is not there.
(Disclaimer: You may notice my DVR history in my signature, it is out of date)
So here's my situation:
I currently have DirecTV with a Genie + 2 "Genie Mini" clients. I live alone, so there's no multi-user issues to work out with my setup. I'm switching back to my local cable company (Charter) because their pricing, even after the promotional period is over, and including TiVo service fees is still cheaper than DirecTV after my promo credits expire w/ DirecTV.
I have a big screen in the living room, an older HD set in my office, and a smallish HD set in my bedroom. I work fro home, so I often have my TV on in my office, but usually on live TV, not recorded or trick playing content.
Got an Xbox One on order, it'll probably serve as my Netflix/HBO Go/Hulu/streaming media box for anything it supports, and whatever TiVo I get will only be used for things the Xbox doesn't.
Previous to my year stint with the Genie, I was with Charter with two Premieres (wasn't working at home and didn't use the office TV at that point).
I had a prior TiVoHD that I had activated but didn't really use, and when I deactivated it, they offered really really cheap lifetime service, and I fancied myself selling it, so I took them up on the offer, but never sold it. So, in my closet I have a TiVoHD with lifetime and two Premieres (dual tuner models) that are not activated. Last time I used them was last December.
So, for those of you who have stuck with me this far, and I really appreciate that, my question is this: Have updates to the Premiere made them more bearable? Are they any faster at all than they were a year ago? I don't know what I should do, whether I should activate both of the Premieres and get two cablecards, or if I should get a new 4 tuner Roamio and a Mini? I'm 99% sure I'm just going to get a CableCard for my lifetime TiVoHD and stick that in my office for daytime work viewing + hook it up to my slingbox. I just need advice on whether or not I should go Roamio + Mini or save the $300 and stick it out with Premieres, considering my Netflix, etc usage will be on the Xbox. Are the Roamios that much faster that it'd be worth upgrading?
Guide data screw up for this weeks episode.
"South Parkway Church" is what is listed for 10pm ET.
Interesting that it was Carol. I had myself convinced that it was the psycho little girl who named the walker, and I was just confused as to how she was able physically to drag the bodies. I still think that she was just pretending to be sick in order to get by Carol and gain admission to the sick ward - I have a feeling we'll be seeing her doing some proactive culling from the inside of the ward. I kept waiting for it through the episode, but it didn't happen.
So far, this season has been pretty good.
I'm pretty peeved at Carol. It's one thing to have a breakdown. It's another to take out your frustration on the prison's scant remaining water supply. When she kicked over that barrel she lost a lot of my respect.
Finally retiring them, I can't believe they still work
I want to use my glo learning remote with my new coming soon Roamio. Do I have to do anything to begin using it as an IR remote to control my Roamio, TV and sound bar as I now do with my HD DVR
With my move to a Roamio as a whole home system, using a TiVo mini and various iOS devices to view content in other rooms streamed from the Roamio, I'm surprised that there appears to be no parental controls for viewing via the iOS TiVo app.
Was actually a bit surprised that the Roamio settings weren't default for all devices when I set up my Mini, but could understand that...perhaps a mini is set up in a parent's room and they don't want/need to be entering a code to access content.
When I went to set up streaming for my 7 year old on his iPod, I discovered that I can stream anything from My Shows, even content that would typically require a passcode under the parental settings I use on the Roamio and Mini.
Unless I'm missing something, there's no way to limit content via the TiVo app streaming functions? There's nothing in the Parental Controls FAQ
that addresses this.
Switched my phone line to VOIP. Reading the TC forums, got it to download guide info, etc. After several months, it stopped downloading. Reading TC forums, it sounded like redoing the guided setup may straighten out the downloading. Now I'm stuck at the point where it wants to make the first phone connection.
So, how screwed am I if I want to just add a Turbonet card? I'm guessing guided setup won't have a clue about the Turbonet. Will I have to reformat the hard drive or will it recognize the Turbonet?
I am getting Resource Not Found
when trying to view https://[hostip]/nowplaying/index.html
after logging in with my MAK. Kmttg works fine though.
Its not a big deal, but any thoughts on what's going on?
I'm trying to record all of my teams football/basketball games in HD using a wishlist. I've got a wishlist that should work great, but unfortunately there is a national SD feed, a regional SD feed and a regional HD feed that are often all carrying the same game. I want the TiVo to default to the HD feed, but there are times when the national SD feed will be the one I have to record instead so I don't want to just remove the SD feeds from my channel list (this is my current work around). I've got the wishlist setup to record HD->Sports->SportsEvent, but the problem is the HD guide data never reports the games on the regional HD feed as HD. As a result the wishlist shows nothing matches. But if I take off the HD requirement, and then repeat the wishlist search, I see all the games (SD and HD channels).
I've tried to report the issue using TiVo.com/lineup. Is there anything else I can do to make TiVo aware of the issue? Anything else I can do beside removing the SD channels from my lineup?
Wow! This season is moving along at a breakneck pace! So many good moments. Loved Peter's gambit with the Internet tax.
I have a Windows7 PC hard drive full of many years worth of digital camera photos and mp3 music. I would like to be able to access all of this content from my Roamio (basic) unit. Is this possible?
I downloaded and installed the TiVo Desktop Plus software to my Win7 PC, but I' not having any luck getting the Roamio and the PC to 'see' each other.
The Roamio doesn't even seem to have menu options for this sort of thing - the only options I see under 'photos' are for online services Picassa and PhotoBucket.... but yet I have seen a few articles and postings indicating that photo & music content from a PC on the home network can also be accessed from the Roamio.
Can anyone confirm if this type of functionality is supposed to be there? If so, I will trouble-shoot further.
I tried searching this forum, but all of the references to 'streaming' seem to have to do with streaming content from the Roamio to other devices, instead of the other way around.
