Are there any other companies out there that sell DVR units? And this is excluding cable companies that lease you a DVR unit.
I know when I did some research a few months ago, I couldn't find any except for one that I think Sony sold years ago and they no longer sell.
What else is out there besides Tivo?
I don't have a subscription with Time Warner but I can plug the cable wire in from the wall to my TV and get all the OTA channels with no problem. But once I plug it into my Tivo, I only get about 6 channels versus the 20+ that I get with plugging it into my TV.
One thing I was hoping Tivo would implement is a little better padding support.
Not as much of a problem with 6 tuners now, but with 4 tuners it was an issue.
What I would like to see is if 2 shows back to back on the same channel are set to record and you have a 1 minute pre and post show padding, it will use 2 tuners during the overlap period.
Tivo should be able to use one channel and save the pre/post overlap to both recordings.
This would mean the 2 minutes of show 1 would be the same as the first 2 minutes of show 2.
Then you only use 1 tuner.
Also, I would like to have an option to drop the padding from a recording if all tuners are used instead of using priority to handle overlap.
I would much rather record the entire time slot and not the padding than miss the first minute of a show due to priority when the padding isn't always necessary.
Another scenario is I add 1 hr padding to Amazing Race and Mentalist due to CBS football overruns when they show a game at 4pm (east coast).
On Sundays where there isn't a late game, I would like to remove/reduce the padding since it won't be necessary to record and waste space.
Is it possible to change individual record settings for a Season Pass?
I hope I was clear in my descriptions.
I was checking the Roamio specs, and notice there appears not to be a component video output on the basic Roamio. Can that be correct? So the only way to hook up the video is with an HDMI? I have an older TV with only one HDMI connector, and it is being used by my blu-Ray DVD player. I'm currently using the component connection on my TiVO HD. Am I correct?
Just got my latest bill from Comcast.
I have 3 HD boxes and 1 M-Card.
I'm getting charged for 2 of the boxes at $9.95 each and the M-Card fee is $11.10! Unbelievable!
I know this has been covered in previous years, but nothing recently. TiVO Premiere is less than a year old, no problems til recently it started freezing for about 10 seconds, then starting back up either at the spot it froze or 10-15 minutes afterward. Rewinding to the spot, it played fine. It only happens maybe once a night, and only during playback. It does not reboot, as some earlier commenters have said. TiVO suggested I blow some canned air into the fan and see if that helped...it did not. They said they would replace for something like $79 bucks...I asked if I could swap for a new Roamio (plus some cash) and they hesitated, so I didn't take it any further than that. Question is...does this mean my hard drive is going? Am I better off swapping, or just getting a new one, or getting this one repaired at someplace like Weaknees.
New Roamio Plus. Have had it for about 2 weeks. No problems until the last few days where the Roamio informs me that there's a problem with my network connection. I go through and reconnect it to wifi, and I notice it's "very low (36%)" which is odd because the access point works fine with all my other equipment.
Then today, the connection has been lost again....
Anyone else seeing these wifi issues?? I don't know what to do here...
My main question is why would he drain and kill all of the donors? Why not keep them as "cows" and then you'd always have a stead supply of blood?
I'm in Atlanta GA and have Charter Cable. I'm having issues with my tuning adapter having to be reset almost daily (sometimes more) to get all my premium channels to work. I have firmware version 2.65 on my cable card and version 1.37 firmware on the tuning adapter.
If you have CHARTER and a Motorola Cable Card, please indicate your firmware version.
Thanks in advance!
Hello please help with these 2 puzzles, the first of which upsets me the most?:
1. On certain channels, the shows get cut off just one or two minutes before the end. Terribly frustrating since most of these shows are court related and I miss the verdicts!!!
2. The faces look shorter and the bodies fatter as if photographed from the top.
Anyone experienced, or knows of these 2 glitches?
Thanks a lot for any ideas! :) Adela
Being a rabid St. Louis Cardinals fan, I have been glued to the NLCS on TBS HD. Most of the games I have been watching live on the Mini in my main family room. This Mini is connected via ethernet to a switch bridged from my Premiere 4 in the basement.
I've noticed periodic macro blocking and/or audio cutouts when watching pretty much all of these games. It seems to happen every 5 to 15 minutes or so. Occasionally, the audio will drop out and not return until the next commercial break or until I change to a different channel, then change it back. I have not noticed any problems with the Mini in my bedroom, which is connected by MoCA. But then again, I've mostly been watching post-game coverage on that one and it's not always TBS (usually flipping around to ESPN and MLB). So I'm not watching it as closely as I watch the game itself.
I'm trying to figure out if the problem is 1) the Mini, 2) TBS, 3) Cox, 4) the ethernet connection to the Mini or 5) something else. I sort of suspect that the problem might be related to the ethernet cable that runs through the wall from the basement up to the family room, so I'm thinking of switching to MoCA to see if that helps. But I also watch a lot of football on that TV on the weekends and I haven't noticed problems on ESPN, ABC, CBS, Fox, etc. while watching that. So before I mess with the networking, I thought I'd ask if anyone else was seeing problems with the NLCS coverage on TBS HD?
Looking to buy the Roamio Basic in Feburary (when my DirectTV contract expires) and we are going 100% OTA to save money.
I can't decide if I should by the Lifetime subscription, or Monthly. Here is my thinking:
- No monthly bills
- Better resale value
- Can keep it forever
- No huge $499 payment upfront
- Easier to upgrade to new Tivo/not feeling stuck with current box
Looks like I would need to keep the Tivo for 33 months for the lifetime to payoff. I think its doable, I just can't seem to swallow the $499 part.
What does everyone think?
Just a pet peeve, but when I select a show to record and the menu options are:
Record This Episode
Season Pass and Other Options
Explore This Show
I scroll down and select Season Pass ...
On the next screen, the menu options are:
Record This Episode
Get Season Pass
Explore This Show
Why do they have 2 menu levels for this?
Also, when I select Season Pass on the first menu, it defaults to Record This Episode on the second menu instead of Get Season Pass.
Not a big issue at all, but bothers me and I wanted to express my feelings.
I feel better now. :D
I've seen a few posts on this but no definitive answers yet it seems. I have a Samsung D450 soundbar and a Glo remote. I can not get the learning to work with the power, and volume up and down for the soundbar.
The learning worked fine with the commands from my TV remote, and I am aware the Glo can control up to 3 devices per button. Ignoring the TV and just trying to get it to learn the soundbar remote commands is not working either.
Am I missing something here? Can anyone help out? I bought this remote in hopes to save some money over going to a Harmony since I really only need to control the TV, soundbar, and TiVo.
Bobby is back which is cool but Walton Goggins being back is AWESOME
I have a TiVo Premiere and got rid of Time Warner for DTV. Obviously the Premiere doesn't work with DTV so I cut off service. Went back to my old apartment this morning to do some packing and watch some of the shows I had saved and now with service cancelled and no cable card, I can't watch anything! It asks me to do guided setup and I can't get past the network thing - but even with a network, i.e., when I bring it to the new house - will I not be able to watch my saved shows? I've had several TiVos and they always let me watch what I had stored even after I had upgraded to a new unit.
NBCSNHD is carrying CFL Football! Longer, wider, faster. Three downs, 'cause do you really need four to go a measly 10 yards?
I just purchased a TiVo Roamio Pro. I'm planning to add a Mini as well, but I was surprised and disappointed to see that the TiVo will not allow me to bridge Wireless to MoCa, only Ethernet to MoCa. This makes no sense. I understand the need for MoCa to support streaming between the Mini and Roamio. But wireless is more than adequate to handle the bridge between MoCa and the Internet. It's got plenty of download bandwidth to handle guide downloads, remote programming, and even Netflix or other streaming. And for outbound TiVo streaming, whenever you enable that, outbound traffic speed of the cable or DSL modem will typically be the limiting factor.
As it turns out, I happen to have a Wi-Fi gaming adapter around that I can use to "trick" the TiVo into thinking it's on ethernet. But I should not need to do this. I sent them an email about this, I hope they fix this issue.
have two Tivo Series 3 HD DVRs, model TCD 652160, with 2 tuners each for sale.
You can record 2 shows at once and watch another recorded show.
The one I use is active and has the lifetime service. That's a $500.00 cost by itself. You can use it as is or call and have it transferred to your name. You can record, view and play anything you receive over the air AND from cable or satellite. Replace your cable or satellite DVR and eliminate your rental fees.
The other DVR is new and never been activated. I bought it so if the power supply ever went out on my lifetime one I could switch out power supplies.
The one I'm using with the lifetime service has a 1tb hard drive for 142 HD hours or 1241 SD hours of recording time. I am also including the original Hard Drive. The backup DVR has never been activated or opened.
I'm also including three remote controls.
1tb WD Green HDD value: $75.00
Replacement power supply value: $100.00
Tivo HD DVR w/Lifetime value: $350.00
Total value for the two HD DVR's: $525.00
If it were to go bad there are lots of Internet sites with instructions on how to replace a power supply.
I've already provided all the knowledge and labor by replacing the original HDD with a bigger 1tb HDD.
$500.00 and well worth it.
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
if you have any questions. Thanks.
