Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that when watching recorded content, the THR-22 audio is sometimes out of sync with the video? I have watched several episodes of "Dragons: Riders of Berk" on Cartoon Network and the audio sync is always way off. By "way off" I mean at least 10-15 frames, which is noticeable. Was watching something on one of the sports networks earlier today and its audio was out of sync as well.
I'll start making some notes to see if it's just certain channels, but it's something odd and I thought I'd ask since someone just posted a question about the same pause lockup issue I mentioned sometime back.
I just found the Presidential debates in my TiVo suggestions :-).
Last night I noticed my five year old TIVO HD box had it's green power light blinking. It seemed to try to reboot, but never made it. I unplugged the power cord and today when I plugged it back in it won't do anything. I'm guessing the power supply is gone. So, what to do? I have another standard TIVO in the house so I get the multi-discount. I have a cable card from Comcast in my dead TIVO HD. A few basic questions:
1) What to buy next? I'm leaning towards the TIVO Premiere 4 so I can get the record 4 at once option.
2) Will I be able to get my Comcast cable card to work in the new unit without a cable guy visit? Maybe just a call to Comcast?
3) Should I buy the box direct from TIVO? Do you think I can get some kind of discount with a phone call saying I have a dead TIVO box?
I may try to repair the HD unit at some point, but for now I'm using this as a chance to upgrade. :)
Suggestions and thoughts are most welcome.
OK, this is bizarre. Was out of town last week and Tivo recorded Showtime's "Inside the NFL" for us (last Wednesday, I think). We sat down last night to watch it but for some reason, it was Fox News! The entire recording was Fox -- not Showtime. Looking at the record info showed that Tivo thought it was recording Showtime East. I just figured it was a bug of some kind and we blew off the recording.
So last night I'm looking at the movie channels to see what's on -- Tried tuning in "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" on one of them and it was some other channel! Went to look at "X-Men 2" on another premium channel and it was something else as well. Finally went to Showtime East and sure enough, it was Fox News!
So I restarted the DVR and everything then was in its proper place. Very strange -- something got corrupted in there.
But we're still getting issues where if we tune to certain channels on one of the two tuners, if we pause the video, it WILL NOT UNPAUSE. It gets stuck, and to get it back, you have to go up a channel and down a channel. If you pause a channel when it's in this state, the time bar never changes to show video being buffered.
Interestingly, this only seems to happen on one tuner, and with certain channels. I was futzing around with it one night trying to run down the problem and certain channels could be paused and unpaused; others would get stuck.
We can work around this bug by changing the stuck tuner to a different channel, then pressing Live TV to switch to the other tuner, then entering the channel number that was getting stuck and changing to it on the other tuner. At this point, the video is properly pausable and unpausable.
I saw a note that there are now Tivo reps reading this forum. Is this something that others have experienced? Is there a fix in the works? Do you need more information from me to help describe exactly what is happening? I'll help debug as much as I can.
We've owned a Tivo box since the first unit came out, and this is the first time we've seen a bug this heinous. You pause the video to answer the phone or deal with an interruption, and it won't unpause, and worse yet, by the time you screw around and get the channel back, you've missed part of the show.

Why does the Tivo Amazon App not recognize Prime membership that allows for free streaming?
Did anyone else experience a huge sounv/video sync issue with the most recent episode of Fringe? It happened about 15 minutes in after a commercial. The Fringe video began, but the commercial audio continued for about 5 or more seconds!
I would like to know how one of TIVO's (potentially) best advantages is so badly executed. The web TV guide on the TIVO site is a great idea which is so poorly executed that it is almost useless.
- God-awful slow. Jumping to a channel gives you time for a cup of coffee.
Decidedly inferior programming to make it so slow.
- Doesn't tell you if a show is new or repeat.
- Doesn't allow you to edit out channels you don't receive.
- Doesn't have a "favorite channels" feature.
I have a lot of concerts that I tivo'ed and wanted to just keep certain songs. Ive seen a lot of posts on programs that will convert a Tivo file to a usuable one for editing out parts that you don't want. They all seemed a little hard to use from reading the posts about them. So I looked around and for $29 I bought a program from Roxio called Video Copy and Convert 5. Turns out it will convert a .tivo file to a lot of different formats while removing the wrapper. I selected the WMV format. This allowed me to edit it in Windows Movie Maker and then save it as a MPEG4 file that I transferred back to the Tivo. I couldn't get it to fill the whole screen but it fills about 80% of it.
I like the casting for Hook, although he's a bit younger than I would imagine. I was afraid for a minute that Cora would end up mixed in with the wife's tale, but they avoided that.
Rumpelstiltskin as the Crocodile? Mmmmm.... ok I guess. At least they sort of closed that loop with the loss of the hand, what happened to the bean, etc. Was the Crocodile good for anything else in the story? Swallowed a clock so Hook knew he was coming, right?
I'll be interested to see what happens in Neverland, since we know Hook went there (via the bean) and came back (talking to Cora in the present).
After much avoidance, I finally broke down and started watching Weeds. I am into Season 6 now, i think, and I have some observations:
1) whatever world they are living in is beyond ridiculous
2) Shane is batcrap crazy.
3) Nancy seems in a perpetual state of some sort of stupor
4) Is there anyone that doesn't smoke weed?
Monday and Tuesday night shows this week are both the performance shows because of the Pres debate Monday night.
I loved the Team dance to Call Me Maybe. It was awesome! Deserved a perfect 30 IMO. The other team is really going to have to bring it to tie or win. I'm not sure they are capable of it.
I do not get the love for Gilles' dance. I mean, I get the love for Gilles, but I thought the routine looked like a recycled version of Edyata's dances where the guy just mostly stands there. Did he look hot, yeah, but a good dance, I didn't think so.
I apologize ir this has been discussed but I haven't seen it. I recently pulled out an old HDVR2 receiver with the 3.1 software and was going to try to update to 6.4. A couple of questions. When I hooked it up it tries to gather info from the satellite but it never gets past 79%. I had it hooked up for several days and still 79%. Does anyone know if the satellite and 3.1 is even compatible anymore. Is it possible to use this unit without a new hard drive? If it is compatible will the 6.4 ever down load to the unit with 3.1 or does the unit have to have the 6.2 do upgrade?

I've had a Tivo for something like 10 years I think. My last was the XL HD. I went through 3 of them (previous posted this problem) as they all started to freeze after a day or two. Screen would go all kind of purple/yellow. I figured it was time to upgrade so I bought the lowest-end Premier as I don't need the features of the higher end ones.
1. The UI is extremely slow compared to my XL. I tried turning off some of the menu features like the live feeds from different channels, but it still shows the live feed in the RH corner for the channel I'm on and it's still dog slow. Is there any way to get back to just a list of my shows without the video window, which I'm assuming is causing the slowness?
2. Similar question for Netflix. It's not only horribly slow (as others have noted here), but also I can't find my shows without scrolling SLOWLY through the picture icons of each show. I just want a list of my shows like before.
I know my cable connection is good - usually 100% strength and my home computer connection screams.
Any thoughts or help appreciated.
I have learned some things from replacing my old Comcast set-top box and Series2 TiVo with a new TiVoPremierXL4 and Comcast-provided CableCard, and thought I'd share them.
The TiVo+Cablecard installation was relatively easy, tedious, and ultimately disappointing. I'm a tech professional, so take "easy" with a grain of salt.
Here's what went wrong:
1) Triple-play/Digital Premium Comcast subscribers may lose the "Digital Basic" channels (in Santa Cruz, CA, those between 34 and 65), including AMC, FX, USA, Comedy Central, A&E, CNN and other favorites. "Sons Of Anarchy" and "Daily Show" fans, take note!!!
The knowledgable Comcast tech who just left confirmed the TiVo tech support conclusion that our "Digital Basic" channels are actually broadcast as analog signals. The TiVo/Cablecard cannot receive analog, period. No matter what the nice ladies in the Philippines tell you, the local cable plant may be hybrid.
Assuming that's not a deal-breaker for you, or that you live someplace that all your "digital" channels are, in fact, digital... :)
2) The Comcast "self-activation" website took 3 days to detect my new TiVo/CableCard setup, so don't bother.
3) Do NOT call the number shown on the setup menu on the cable-card menu, or on the printed receipt for the cable-card; they're clueless. Call the 877-405-2298 hotline instead, and talk to the nice ladies in the Philippines call center.
4) Yes, you do need to cycle thru the "Test Channels" screens, pausing a few seconds on each, to figure out what actually got activated. A lost msg to the cable-card can cause some of your services to go missing.
As others have said elsewhere, the incidence of missed enablement signals seems pretty high, and if your box isn't authorized by the head-end, you do not see the channels, period. If they tell you to wait an hour, you're hosed. Pull out your cable-card, power-cycle the TiVo, reinsert the cable-card, and go thru the whole Guided Setup + call Comcast for activation again. In my case, I think I needed to do it 3 times to get past all my issues other than the one involving analog "digital" channels.
5) As hokey as it seems, the THX training clip shipped on the TiVo HDD was really useful in getting a great picture from our Toshiba LED display. Yes, you need to wear the funky glasses; just make sure your kids aren't in the room with their iPhones and posting pictures of you on FaceBook. :eek:
So, before buying a new TiVo Premium XL4 for use in Santa Cruz County, CA, make sure you're in a service area where these channels are broadcast as digital and not analog.
Only you can decide if simultaneous record is more valuable to you than the missing "Digital Basic" channels. For us, it's not; I'm off to the local service center to swap my 4-channel cable-card for a stand-alone HD cable box.
