My S3 just started showing major pixelization and purple horizontal lines today (live TV, menus and shows recorded today). What's really strange is that shows that I recorded before today will play fine other than the purple horizontal lines. Shows that I recorded today are unwatchable because of the pixelization, audio dropouts and the horizontal lines (same problem with live tv).
I've rebooted several times and the problem does not go away. When I reboot, the screen looks fine until it gets past the "Almost There" screen. Once that disappears, the purple horizontal lines appear.
I also checked under DVR Diagnostics and see a lot of RS Uncorrected.
Any idea what this problem could be? I did a search here but didn't find much. Does it sound like a power supply issue?
I have received the software update with DTA. I recently noticed that my Premier xl4 only has three tuners available if the mini hasn't gone to screensaver, i.e., was recently being used. When you hit info and scroll down, it says one of the tuners is being used by another TiVo. The tuner apparently WILL become available for a fourth recording, but not for a live tuner on the xl4 if 3 programs are recording.
Is this correct? Workaround?
Does Toast Tivo Transfer work with Roamio...?? Tivo DVR does not populate within the app..Yes the Media Access Key is in there too...?? :confused:
Im aware of other options, but was curious if anyone is using this program successfully..
I have a series 2 tivo and want to get rid of the two tw dvrs and go with a new Romio . I have an older 57 inch tv that has a dvr input or component inputs and wondered if the newer Model: TCD848000 will work with the component inputs until I can get a new hdmi tv. Thank you for any input.
I started to set up my shiny new Roamio Pro last night, getting the CableCard paired and channels working. Tonight, I called Tivo to purchase Lifetime service for the box.
The real problems started tonight. When I tried to connect to the Tivo Service over Wi-Fi, which worked fine last night, I got a failure that it couldn't connect to the gateway. So I decided since I have a lot of stuff to transfer from my Series 3 1TB anyway, I'd just go wired. So I switched over and still couldn't connect to the Tivo Service. So I rebooted the Tivo as well as my switch and router.
I finally connected to Tivo long enough for the box to determine it has Lifetime. But I got a failure a few moments after that. The network test passed, so I rebooted it again.
After that reboot, it had the correct MAK. But it won't display shows from either my Tivo S3 or Tivo HD. It's also very hit-or-miss in showing the pytivo folder or my server folder. And I'm seeing C133 errors frequently.
From my PC, I did 1000 pings to the wired port and lost 131 of those. I've swapped out the Ethernet cable and connected to a different port on the switch. I'm still getting dropped packets.
Additionally, I've had the same failure to return from Standby on occasion. Thankfully, I had read the suggestion to use the power button on the face of the Roamio to turn it off (well, Standby) and back on.
Another oddity is that somehow during the Tivo reboot, there is a brief period where the remote in RF mode emits a burst of IR that turns on *both* my other Tivos. (Must be using Remote Code 0).
Finally, I've found that when I can navigate my pytivo folder, there is no way to move back UP the folder tree. One the Tivo S3, there is NO issue walking up and down the tree. Yet Roamio is missing this functionality?
Yeesh. This is NOT smooth. I was willing to overlook things like the "UKNOWN" references on the menu.
Maybe I just got a bad unit? It's crazy to have so many issues, right?
Last night my TV said "no signal" when on the Tivo input. I figured the cat had knocked off the cable on my splitter. Today I discover no lights on the front of the tivo but it is plugged in and warm. I unplugged/replugged and could feel the hard drive spinning (don't think it was the fan) but no lights and no signal. It's an HD series 3 with a couple year old 1TB drive with lifetime of course. No hints of problems until this failure.Thanks for any advice.
Hi, I'm planning to upgrade a series 3 to a roamio. The Tivo service rep told me on the phone that if I buy the "app" on their web page, I would be able to transfer my season pass list. I've got the old, free version of Tivo Desktop and it does not have this feature. The web page for the new version does not note that season pass backup and restoration is a feature. Can anyone confirm or deny this capability?
To be clear, I'm not talking about transferring the shows, but rather the season pass settings themselves.
My Fios Actiontec Router shows two separate IP addresses and corresponding MAC addresses for my Tivo Roamio Pro. They are identical except for one IP ends in 1.6, MAC ending in f0 and another 1.7, MAC ending in f1. I am do not have a Mini to stream to and I have not enabled wireless (to my knowledge). I do have a Tivo HD (IP ending in 1.5) that I transfer to and from (it won't allow streaming). My set up is purely MoCA. Is this normal?
This week it seems the listings for TBWWKB are showing the 5:00pm showing of the show as the "new" one, rather than as the rerun of the previous night's show. This is not correct. My DVR recorded the show yesterday (Monday) at 5, where the program description said Soledad O'Brian was the guest, but I watched it and it was the Mixtape episode they showed on Sunday. And since the DVR thought it had recorded Soledad, it didn't record the 11:00pm episode, which really was the first broadcast of that episode. It finally recorded the Soledad episode today (Tuesday) at 5pm, thinking it was the one with the Tuesday night's guests, which of course won't be broadcast until 11 tonight.
At least it is recording all the episodes, but they are all mis-marked with the wrong guests and eventually. when this problem with the guide is straightened out, I'm afraid there's going to be one episode that slips through the crack. So watch out for this, at least on my South Jersey Comcast system.
I'm not. I'm pretty close to dumping the season pass. Henry Wilcox as this super murderous villain who is always one step ahead of everybody and has unlimited resources and connections is just too unbelievable to me. Annie being "dead" is pretty ridiculous too.
I currently have my XL4 hooked up to a Slingbox. This allows me to stream HD to both my iPad and PC over my home network.
Have a Roamio on order which should arrive a the end of the week. I know that the Roamio can stream to my iPad but what about the PC? Do I need to keep using the Slingbox in order to maintain that capability?
So, my Tivo HD TCD652160 has been running for years on a cable input only.
I now want to record thru the antenna input as well. I understand I have to visit Guided Setup again, but I'm happy with all the cable channel assignments, cable card setup, etc.
Anyone know if those settings will be retained, and I can just turn on the antenna input?
Also, once scanned, will my channel guide then show OTA listings such as 2.2,
Since it ain't broke, I'm hesitant to fix it.

Do updates happen automatically or do I have to do something to prompt them? If they do it automatically, how do I know if I have been updated. Is their an operating system version number somewhere in the help section? Thanks.

I previously had two Premier XL4's running on a MoCa network (that one of the XL4's created) and it worked fine. I just upgraded to a Roamio Pro and Mini and every time I turn MoCa on (on the Pro) my internet connection speed goes from 55Mbps to .32Mbps (to the point where Tivo won't connect and web pages won't load on my laptop.
Here is the set up:
Coax goes in the house to a splitter, one cable goes to the Tivo and one goes to the cable modem (then to a wireless N router). The router then runs an Ethernet cable to the Tivo. The Mini upstairs is connected via coax. This is the exact same setup I had previously and it worked fine. I spoke to two techs at Tivo and neither could fix it. Anybody have any ideas to try before I determine it is a hardware failure (and have to copy all my shows to another pro again)?
I should add that I tested all the cables (coax and Ethernet) and they are all good.

I know this will ultimately be a matter of personal preference, but I am curious to see if there is any consensus among Roamio owners.
I currently output video from my video at 1080i into my Onkyo 818 A/V receiver, which has what I am told is top of the line video processing with a VHD1900 chip and Marvell Qdeo. Would it result in a better picture if I let the TiVo output at each resolution natively?
I'm getting an occasional output issue where suddenly Roamio only displays a black screen. The box seems to be working fine as anything that was playing or recording continues doing so, but I get no sound and no picture for a seemingly random amount of time. It has done this four times now. Twice it has not come to life on its own after waiting a few minutes (though it may have eventually -- not patient), requiring an unplug, and twice it has returned after a couple minutes on its own. I've switched HDMI ports and I have ran my family's often used XBox 360 on the HDMI port that Roamio was on to see if it was the TV, but it doesn't seem to be. The bug repeated itself on a second port and the 360 has not had an issue in the original port.
This coupled with the daily C133 makes me worried about the longevity of my investment here. Anyone else having this problem? It is my understanding that standby simply cuts the output -- Is there a way to put Roamio in standby without navigating the menu system? Maybe putting it in and out of standby would be a quicker fix than the unplug that also messes up recordings and whatnot.
