My first post here though I've been lurking for months. I recently jumped back into the TiVo world after many years of satellite and cable DVR hell. I bought a Premiere XL4 and really love it hooked up to my Pioneer Kuro.
So we recently broke down and bought a 720P 32" Sony Bravia for the bedroom (I've also been opposed to owning more than one TV in a house but lost my resolve) and it's a great little TV. Perfect size for the space. Well, the purchase coincided with the intro of the TiVo Mini so I added that to the mix alongside an AppleTV. I purchased and installed the Moca adapter from TiVo, installed the mini and went through setup. The TiVo prompted me to select 1080i as the video setting and I went along with the suggestion. Bottom line, the picture quality looked pretty bad. Pixilated, dropped frames, just aweful. At first I chalked it up to the Moca speed but when I looked up the speed in the TiVo the measurements looked good. Then I thought maybe it's the fact that my Kuro is so far superior to my Sony that I'm just spoiled. That's partly true but not enough to account for the bad quality. After lots of setting mods, I changed the video setting on the TiVo to 720P. BAM, instantly the image quality improved. It's still not as good as the Kuro and I do need to calibrate the Sonybut I'll take it.
So, I have to ask, what is everyone choosing for video quality setting? Should you simply match your TV's native resolution? It gives options to choose more than one but why would I do that? I went and changed my Premiere XL4 to reflect all setting 720P and higher and I don't really notice a difference. Anyway... just curious what selection everyone else is making.
BTW, love the Mini and hope that TiVo keeps improving it with software updates.

Firstly, I can't believe the Amazon App does not allow Prime customers to watch their "already paid for" content that other systems (Roku to name 1) allow. Fix this!
Next, please approach the Plex
developers into building a client for Tivo. They already have one for Mac, PC, Linux, Google tv, IOS, Roku, Apple TV, Android,... You're missing the boat.
Just set-up a new (to me) Premiere box with wireless connection and Comcast. Was in the middle of watching a show (live TV) on the second day of having it and the stupid thing restarted itself. Lost 5 minutes of the show I was watching. It went back to normal for a couple minutes. Then it went to the M Card info screen! I hit Clear and it went back to programming. What is the problem?
Hi , I can program the TiVo volume control to decrease the volume on my Motorola 501 , but, I cannot program it to increase volume.
Also, I cannot program the mute control.
I'm using the learning method, I've given up trying to find the correct code.
Can anyone help?
I know this was asked by other community members before release, but I have not seen any updates. I liked the idea that you were not hijacking the main Tivo unit and instead a mini.
Let me know if this worked for anyone and if there were any limitations.
During a recent chat with TiVo support, I was told to "contact YouTube" about a YouTube stuttering issue. Netflix seems to work fine.
1, I pay TiVo for the services they offer, not YouTube, Netflix, AOL, or anyone else. If TiVo decided to settle on a crappy app and then offer it as a feature, actually supporting it isn't too much to ask for.
2, Being directed to contact YouTube/Google about this issue is absolutely pointless. I'd have better luck contacting life on Mars. The rep directed me to http://support.google.com/youtube
Normally TiVo support has been great, but when it comes to the extra services they offer, I'm quickly finding out it's a complete waste of time.
When viewing a program, then interrupting it and doing something else, previous Tivo's always remembered where you left off when to went to view something else. Now when I come back, sometimes is remembers, but often it doesn't, forcing me to start watching the recorded program at the beginning. Needless to say, this is very annoying. I have a Premier 4 and this has been happening to me since I started using it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have searched all over the place for this solution and I know I can do pytivo and other options to transfer from PC to TiVo, but I have this program already and have no issues downloading video from my tivo to PC and converting it.
The issue I am having is moving these files back. I put videos in folder to publish them back to the TiVo but it says since it came from a TiVo you can't transfer them back that way.
I don't see my PC on my shows list on my TiVo. I have opened my windows firewall to all the tivo services. I use avast antivirus with no firewall on windows 8, with a dlink router. I know I can push them back but just can't figure out what is missing.
Ok, so you know when you have a a show that's got say 3 recordings in a folder because you slacked on watching them. Well, when you finally watch em you can just hit play on it from the now playing list and it rolls 1 of 3. Well, is there anyway to make a similar "playlist" of sorts for different shows so if you wana run a small marathon of sorts you don't need to go and play each one individually.
I just successfully (almost) upgraded my Premiere 4 HD to a 2TB but right now I am back to GSM-11. I just did a connect and am hoping that VOD comes back. Has anyone else had this experience?
Loading now but taking a long time. Is it possible that a service upgrade that was on my original HD didn't transfer to the new disk?
UPDATE: After completing the connect everything is working!
I am new to Tivo and NAS in general... Purchased both a few weeks ago...
Purchased both but not originally to work with one another... Tivo to explore the service and the Synology DS112 as a stand alone file backup for all of my family's files and photos.
I am now at the point of wondering if I can connect my DS112 with my Tivo.
Since my DS112 stays powered on 24/7 and my computer only when I using it... I would like have the Tivo content moved to the DS112 instead of my computer. Likewise... I would like to move content from my computer to the DS112 and then to the Tivo...
Any suggestions for the newbee?
Many thanks in advance!
My search of the tivo support webpages found the following statement:
"If Keep Until is set to Keep Until I Delete, all episodes recorded will be kept until the Keep at Most limit is reached. For example, if Keep at Most is set to three episodes and Keep Until is set to Keep Until I Delete, recording will stop after three episodes until you delete one or more of the episodes."
This is exactly what I want my Tivo Premiere XL to do for many programs. However, when I set the Season Pass options for a program to these settings, my Tivo continues to record and keep episodes after reaching the "Keep at Most" limit (without deleting older recordings). I am trying to utilize the limited HD space to record fewer episodes of more shows. Please help!
Is Tivo supporting DLNA?
I noticed that at the bootom of 'my shows', I can see my windows PC that's sharing a video folder. I can see *.flv files and transfer them for viewing almost instantly.
Is this something Tivo support natively? I didn't think Tivo can play *.flv files.
Is anyone else getting this?
Looking for TWC customers who have used Tivo Mini.
I recently moved from a FIOS market to a Time Warner market. TWC infrastructure does not handle Tivos well..by design. Switched Digital Video channels constantly disappear. All techs worked on situation agree its their issue and are powerless to fix. I hesitate to get a Mini because MOCA is a no-no on TWC networks. All the techs were told point blank they would be fired on the spot if they turned on MOCA. And I can not run cat5 in my current situation.
Okay, maybe I'm late to the discovery of this but I just accidentally found out that I can hit Play instead of Select when a group is highlighted in the Now Playing list and it will play one show after another from oldest on up. This is a great feature and I figured out how to skip up and down a show via the up/down channel BUT how do I delete a show while staying in the playing of the group??? I have over a hundred CNet videos from Video on Demand and I'd like to delete some as I go through without going back to the Now Playing list each time as I have been doing for the past few years.
Thanks so much for the help!
Someone (I assume the Youtube App) has made it even more difficult to view my subscriptions. I was hoping it was some kind of glitch, so I rebooted my box a few times. Stays the same
Last week I was able to scan through my subscription, be it in a one group, but now I have to start the first video. Press down 2 times and scan through the videos much slower
Please tell me there is something wrong with my Tivo. Has anyone else noticed this?
Purchased a retail Mini a few days ago and a few months ago purchased my 3rd TP-4 (retail when the price was $199). I activated both with Lifetime a few days ago. The Mini and the new TP-4 set up great, could see all my Series 4 TiVos and use MRS on all of them. Set up the new TP-4 for the Mini to use one tuner. Set up my Mini and the new TP-4 had the red circle death, I could not select that unit, the other two TP-4s could be selected without problems. I have tried everything, re-booting the new TP-4, re-booting the Mini, even did a C&D all on the Mini, I can't select the new TP-4, I even tried disconnecting one of my older TP-4s, still had the circle of death on the new TP-4.
I give up, I did call TiVo and they could not see any reason for this problem on their side, will be escalated to engineering.
My plan was to sell my other two Series 4s with 2 tuners, so I would be left with 3 TP-4 giving me 11 tuners (and one for the mini) and one Mini, more than enough for my home.
Any help would be appreciated.
Probably too late, since it starts in a few mins, and those on the east coast have already missed it, but MTV is rerunning a bunch of old RW seasons.. including the first season..
over the next few days.
(Was it originally a half hour show? They're showing up in ~35 minute time slots.. and I always pad MTV shows 2 minutes before & 2 minutes after, due to their weird scheduling.)
I rarely watch reruns, but am vaguely interested in watching this and some of the other season(s) they're rerunning. IIRC, I never saw all of Las Vegas.
I know some/all of it is on their web site, but I don't want to watch it on a web site.
