I love HBO Go, which allows you to watch all the previous seasons of a show so you can fully appreciate the new episodes. I only recently got HBO after many years and I used it to catch up on "Game of Thrones," "The Newsroom," "Boardwalk Empire," "Girls" and "Veep."
I likewise recently got Showtime after many years, but it's been much harder to catch up on "Dexter," "The Borgias," and "Shameless. I have to buy the episodes or wait for a marathon to record them. pia.
I still haven't seen the first season of "Homeland."
Time Warner provides HBO Go, but not Showtime Anywhere, does anyone have an idea why this is?
I recently purchased a Tivo Premier XL4 and am disappointed that there is no Vudu application. While I'm happy netflix and amazon are there, I'd really like to see Vudu. Now I need to switch to another device to access Vudu and would just love for my Tivo to give me all of my media right from that box.
Any idea when this will be added?
I have a Desktop PC that has archived shows with a wired connection to my Tivo Premiere XL. I have the PC set to go into sleep mode after a while (saving the Earth -you're welcome) which should be fine. I wiggle a wireless mouse near my TV in the other room, and the PC wakes up.
I'm using Tivo desktop and for some reason, the woken computer doesn't show up on the Tivo "Now PLaying" screen unless I manually go to my PC and click "pause server", and then re-start it. Then it shows up instantly. But I'm curious if there's any way to not have to restart the Tivo server after sleep mode on the PC for it to show up in my Now Playing list.
Thoughts? Comments? Insults?
BTW - I've tried alternatives, and Tivo Desktop is the best software for me - so kmttg is not a solution.
We have a Tivo Premier XL and our market has Comcast Ondemand but we've never used it before. What happens is when we go to watch any VOD from Ondemand, it shows the full 30 minutes but after a few second it just freezes. Everything else works fine and we have premium channels like HBO working no problems.
Any suggestions on what this could be?
Just finished watching it. I thought it was great summer fare! Looking forward to more of this.
So what did they know a year ago? Anxious to find out.
OK, I'll tell you what I'm looking for and you tell me if something like this exists or is possible:
My AV receiver (that the TiVo Series 3 is connected to) is also connected to my outdoor speakers for my back patio. When I want to listen to music, currently I go in the house and start the music (TiVo streaming music off my desktop) and then go back outside. If I want to change the album/playlist, I have to go back inside and change it.
I would like to be able to control it from my phone outside. It would be great to be able to browse my music library and select what's playing next. Right now the best I could do would be to stream music via Youtube and have my phone paired to that, but the quality isn't good and it doesn't have all my music.
Is there anything like this out there?
Is anyone else having any issues with Netflix on TiVoHD systems? I get the "Please Wait" gray screen for about 5 minutes and then it goes back to my main screen. It does it regardless of where I select Netflix, either from Now Playing or Video on Demand, both options go gray background back to main screen.
If I purchase it and my computer's hard drive gets fried, am I out the $50 it cost me? Or can I redownload it for free? Are there any free equivalents to Videoredo Plus? I just need something simple that will let me manually remove commercials and transfer back to Tivo while keeping the closed captions.
I have had the XL4 for 5 days now. I like the new interface and the four tuners.
I previously had a series 3, which has been moved to the bedroom. I miss it in my main tv room.
My question is, is the series 3 the best TiVo ever? I love the program titles (and the time) on the front display. It was really a good device, especially given when it was released.
What do you guys think?
Series premier, but listed as episode 4.
I dunno, it was worth watching but I'm not sure how it'll keep interest week to week. We learned years ago on Survivor that starving people are boring and the fact that they could show us 21 days in an hour show sort of points that out. The guy lost 45 pounds and the girl 20-something, they need to put these people down in a spot with more accessible food!
There were a couple humorous moments. I'll give it another week.
Also, there's an uncensored version of it showing Sunday night right before the second ep airs.
Series 2 Tivo Connected To Comcast Motorola Dct 2000 Box Using Serial Cable.
Intermittent Problem (50% Of The Time). Wrong Channel Is Recorded. When I Play The Recorded Program I Can See The Correct Channel # And Then It Jumps Usually To A Lower Number. Same Thing Sometimes Happens When I Use My Tivo Remote. Press 42, It Goes To 42 Then Jumps To 40.
Comcast Suggested Trying IR Blaster, But I'd Rather Use Serial Cable.
Any Suggestions? Thx...
I have the first gen series 3, and until about the last couple of months it has been working flawlessly. After about 20 minutes watching a recorded program the sound will completely drop out. If I hit the remote 'play' it will come back on, but only for about 30 minutes or so. Could this have anything to do with the HDMI connection?
Thanks in advance,
I've been having lots of problems getting clean recordings with the 20.3 update and the old firmware in my scientific atlanta cable card, so I went into the upcoming episodes of a season pass and told it to record a 2nd copy of the show it already had scheduled to record earlier.
When I went back to check upcoming again, it had cancelled the 1st showing.
Is it supposed to work this way? At least when I went back into the 1st one and said "Hey you! Record this", it finally shows both of them with check marks.
I just purchased a WD 2Tb HDD on Ebay with a Tivo image for a TCD648250B Series 3 HD Tivo. It's supposed to be plug & Play for my Series 3 Tivo. Since I have four of these TCD648250B Tivo's, is it possible to clone this drive for use in my other Tivo's using blank 2Tb WD Drives? If so, what software do I have to use, or can I simply use a stand alone hard drive cloner? Thanks!
..another crime drama procedural.
This time its an international team (the ICC) who captures cross boarder criminals.
To me, it was OK. I think I need to re-watch though. It was a 2 hour pilot but didn't have my full attention.
I have a lifetime Series 3 (OLED) that started the dreaded reboot loop. I opened up the case and it indeed has a budging cap. Now, I had a spare 500GB WD drive that I put in it a few months ago. Before putting the S3 image on it and sticking it in the TiVo, I ran an extended test on it and all came back good. It has been working flawlessly for months until recently
I have another Series 3 (OLED) that had this reboot issue a while back as well. While it had a bulging cap & I had it fixed by a local shop, this didn't fix its reboot problem. Rather, a totally new hard drive is what ultimately fixed it.
While I will get the cap fixed either way on this other S3 as it can't hurt, I am just wondering if this bad cap can cause a hard drive to go bad over time. Or does one really have NOTHING to do with the other in terms of failure. I also realize that since this 500GB WD drive is not totally new, there is chance it could have just failed as well. Just curious on this.
Anyone having issues with the Mini and older Philips plasma TVs?
Picked up a mini..worked fine for a few days..
All of a sudden it's complaining about HDMI connection not permitted.. Maybe the mini received a software update, since I just activated it..
About to go buy the av breakout kit.. but this sucks!! anyone have similar issues?
UPDATE: Just unplugged TV and plugged back in. seems OK for now.. we'll see if it comes back!
I currently have Humax Series 2 (lifetime service & well past breakeven point) and Charter analog/SDTV service and a recent HDTV. When I got the HDTV, it wasn't important enough at the time to convert my world to HDTV with a new Tivo, cable card, etc. etc. and it's been working out okay. (except that Charter keeps moving channels to digital-only so this scenario was not going to work forever anyhow.)
But next month I am moving to a Comcast service area, so it seems like a good time to get up to speed and bite the bullet and get me a new Tivo setup. I'll likely go with lifetime. I keep getting emails with specials. I've been reading threads and tivo product websites and xfinity-on-tivo stuff (or is it tivo-on-xfinity?) and my head is spinning. I don't know how to estimate how much recording time/space I will need in HD. Can I still record in SD if I want to?
Can someone provide some overall guidance on this transition? Not sure what Tivo box (various premieres or s3), is comcast cable card ok, any gotchas, what do I get first, can S2 be in another room and transfer recordings? only SD recordings? I thought Comcast had a Tivo interface option, but it looks like that's history, is that true? Looks like my Roku box might be obsolete now too? One reason I held out on digital service for so long is with gazillions of channels to choose from, is that I suppose one becomes dependent on searching. I am more comfortable just direct channelling to the handful of channels I am interested in. If I have to have a gazillion channels, I trust the Tivo interface to get me where I want to be faster and better.
I do also have a media server built into my network router that stores old recorded tivo programmings that I offloaded from my S2. Oh, that reminds me... am I going to be able to keep my brand new router & modem or is comcast going to make me use theirs... oops that's another forum... head spinning with issues...
Appreciate any input to sort thru this tech stuff while my head is really supposed to focused on packing and moving :-)
New to Tivo and recently purchased a Tivo Premier XL4 with Mini extenders.
Why does Tivo make it so hard to put the Tivo in standby mode? I like to conserve energy and it would be nice if the Tivo had a scheduling feature for this. So, for example, I want the Tivo to enter standby mode automatically at 1am and automatically exit at 6:30 am. Why isn't this possible?
Also, why is there no one button standby mode on the remote? This would have been nice.
Thanks for any response.
