Does renaming on Tivo.com not work anymore?

Tue, 12/24/2013 - 01:30
i recently added a third tivohd to my account and tried renaming all three boxes after moving them around in my house. on tivo.com and in the debug menu, the box names are correct. but in the "now playing" list, they're still showing up with the old names (the new box has a (2) after it, as it had the same name as another of the boxes until i changed them).

i've tried rebooting them all, changing network settings, etc. but nothing seems to force the name changes to update. i thought maybe tivo stopped supporting this feature on the older boxes, but maybe someone here can shed some light.

thanks!

Not sure if a TiVo or TWCNYC issue - Program Guide for KBS

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 20:02
Can someone in the TWCNYC area tell me if their TiVo program guide shows any programming for channel 536 (KBS)? As long as I've had CC service with TiVo - there has never been any programming listed - only "To Be Announced" or something like that.

However, on TWC's settop box, channel 536 in their guide shows full programming info (even though it's not often correct, but that's another story).

I've sent a number of emails to TWC over the years and they don't seem to understand the issue or say they have no issue. I just want to verify that someone else sees the same as me.

That being said, trying to convince TWCNYC they have a programming guide issue with CC service is impossible.

Thanks!

OOH Downloading/Streaming to iPhone 5

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 19:43
I'm having trouble with OOH downloads on my iPhone. I'm connected to FIOS both at home and at the OOH location so bandwidth shouldn't be a limitation. However, the download is proceeding at a snails pace. It's estimating about a half hour to download a 500MB (half hour) tv show to my iPhone 5.

Is this typical for downloads? Is the bottleneck the TiVo Roamio? Or is it the iPhone speed? Any ideas?

Patrick

Ps. Out of home streaming is unusable. Quality is horrible, video stutters, not watchable.

New software: bug or feature?

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 16:56
So I noticed last night that all my shows with padding are starting at the point after the padding, rather then at the beginning. This has been a long standing issue with streaming shows but never effected local recordings until now.

Is everyone else seeing this too?

Between this and the feature that allows a single tuner to record back to back shows I really think TiVo is working toward an auto-padding feature.

Adding Moca injector

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 15:52
Originally set up Roamio Pro with ethernet and told it to create a moca network. I now want to use a moca injector and move the pro to a location that's not wired for network. How do I do this?

POE Filter kills Internet access

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 14:57
I recently picked up a Roamio pro and Mini. I also picked up the MOCA adapter and POE filter from TiVo. I was having issues with my Mini being jumpy on playback or live TV. I read that a different splitter and POE filter could help. The splitter that was there was installed by the cable company and is a 5 - 1000 MHZ. I replaced that with a 5 - 3000 MHZ splitter I picked up locally and installed the POE filter. Mini now seems to be running smooth but I had no Internet access. Apparently my cable modem wouldn't connect. I removed the filter and now the modem connects and Internet access works fine.

Here is my setup:
Cable comes to the house - POE Filter - 2 way splitter
1st line goes to the office to a Actiontec MOCA adapter then to Cable modem
2nd line goes to family room to a Roamio Pro.

With the POE filter, no modem connection and no internet access
Without POE filter, modem connects and have internet access

Anyone know if there a reason why the filter would kill my cable modem/internet access?

20.3.8 black menu bug after delete/keep dialogue.

Instead of seeing the 'My Shows' screen, I get only black.

The remote still functions and I can blindly select another recording to play, which then restores the display.

This has happened probably 5 or 6 times in 2 days, so somewhere between 10 and 20% of the time. Some of these were downloaded videos (CNET), others recordings from cable. Never saw this behavior before. I am having this issue so far I have noticed it on 2 of 6 tivos.

It only happens if I select delete from the pop up dialogue at the end of a recording. If I select keep the menu system works fine.

If you have the video in the corner on, then you see that as well as the black screen.

If I press liveTV or Guide then everything works again. Although I have lost my place in the My Shows list. ( The Tivo button does not work.)

Thought it may be an hdmi issue, I switched to analog but nothing brings back the menus other than those 2 buttons.

This happens randomly on only 2 of my Tivos, a 2 tuner and a 4 tuner. Configuration is the same as my other 4 tivos...

Note: There are plenty of threads discussing the series, please limit any discussion in this thread to this marathon. And no spoilers!

Here is the thread for the series finale, which is full of spoilers, and can be used to discuss not only the finale, but any aspect of the show.

Any issues activating and not setting up same day?

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 11:16
Got my parents a couple of Roamio Basic units and a stream for Christmas (shhhh don't tell).

I was going to have them activate them Christmas day at my house online, but then I will be going to their house on Thursday to setup them up (they already have two TivoHD so they have the cards already....they'll just need to get paired again).

Any issues activating and then waiting to setup? Just want to make sure Tivo doesn't de-activate if the box doesn't connect right away.

Thanks.

Roamio Netflix throttles based on video settings?

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 11:13
I have Comcast Blast at 50Mbps down. Both Tivos (Basic and Plus) hardwired via ethernet (one on a 100 Mbit link, the other on GigE).

Looks like on the Roamio, the Tivo will max out the Netflix bandwidth based on the Video settings you have.

For example, on my Roamio Basic, it's hooked up to a 720p TV.....so in video settings I only have 720p selected. Netflix on this box will top out at 3000 kbps (1280x720). However, depending on the time of day, sometimes it has a hard time getting to 3000.

However, on my Plus...that's hooked up to a 1080p TV that supports the 1080p24. In settings I have 1080p and passthrough selected. On that box Netflix will top out at 3850 kbps (1920x1080). I then switched my video settings on that TV to just 720p and Netflix tops out at the 3000 kbps.

What's interesting is, I have two Apple TVs (3rd gen), one hooked up wireless and one hardwired. Both of these will go all the way to 5800 (1920x1080) on BOTH TVs.

I'm testing using the Example Short (http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Ex...trkid=13462100)

Is anyone else able to get their Tivos to go higher than 3850?

Lilyhammer - Unofficial Season 2 Thread

Xfinity On Demand on Roamio and Mini at same time?

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 10:24
Hi everyone.

I've been using this forum for years but never posted. Thanks for all the great information.

We have a new roamio and mini and have comcast. After much work and consulting of this forum, i can get xfinity on demand to work. The final issue in my case was a loose cable!

This is my problem now - I can get xfinity on demand to work on the Roamio OR the mini but not both simultaneously. I get an SRM error.

Am I limited to one on demand show at a time?

Replaced Premiere with Roamio - Mini won't connect!

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 10:03
I actually don't have a problem. Posting this just in case someone else runs across this.
  • Added a Roamio Pro to my home to replace an XL4
  • Attempted to connect an existing Mini for live TV and get the V70/red X
  • Mini could connect to another XL4 without issue and all TiVos could play shows from any other TiVo
  • Added another Mini to the network, was able to connect to the new Roamio
  • Swapped locations of the two Minis, was able to use new one, not old one
  • Did a erase all on the old Mini and went through setup again
  • Now I can connect my existing Mini to the new Roamio

Thought that was sort of strange, but at least it works! TiVo was going to send me a new Roamio.

Roamio remote issues

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 10:02
I don't care for the new Roamio remote, at least not as much as I like my old model 3 remote.

I can't seem to get it to work, does anyone have a suggestion? Or does it work at all?

While the Roamio one does work fine, I am just used to the length and the feel of the better quality older one.......

Roamio newbie...additional issue

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 09:24
So, I did get my cable card taken care of, but now have a new issue. I hope someone will have a suggestion

This problem deals with transfers. I find it a bit strange.
The Roamio will transfer programs(ones that are ok to transfer) to my pc using tivo desktop. Also, I can transfer programs from the Roamio and to my S2's, and from S2's to Roamio. All that works is great.

The problem is the Roamio does not see the tivo desktop. So, I can transfer from it, but not to it from the pc.

Also, and I find this the strangest. Programs that have been transfered from the Roamio to the pc can't be transfered to my S2's. I can transfer from Roamio to S2, but cant from Roamio to PC to S2. (these are SD programs, I know HD can't be moved)

Any ideas?

Resolving recording conflicts

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 08:17
I'd like to propose an OBVIOUS feature enhancement.....

I like how my four tuner Roamio displays all four recording conflicts when I search for and attempt to record a fifth show. However, I find it odd that the screen that shows all four conflicts doesn't let me select which one I want to delete. It just defaults to cancel the lowest priority conflict.

I have my season pass items arranged in order of descending priority, so usually the one that gets bumped if I try to record a fifth show with four tuners already occupied is the one I would most want to skip. But wouldn't it be more convenient to be able to select ANY of the displayed conflicts and delete them???
