Near the end of a Netflix video (usually when the credits begin to roll), the display changes and you're presented with thumbnail suggestions of similar shows to watch next.
Unfortunately, this also reduces the show you're currently watching to a thumbnail in the upper left corner of the screen.
How do I restore the current show to display full screen so I can see the credits? Better yet, is it possible to disable this annoying behavior entirely?
I have a new roamio plus. When I try to view the shows recorded on my series 2 they all show up just fine. However, each show has the circle exclamation point icon, even though it is definitely KEEP UNTIL DELETE. the icon only shows wrong in the list of all shows on the remote tivo. If I click on a show to drill down, it then shows it is KEEP UNTIL DELETE. So it appears for some reason the Roamio can't tell the show is KEEP UNTIL DELETE on the remote tivo show listing so it shows every show with a yellow circle exclamation.
Is there a fix for this?
So I have a roamio plus, I transfer a show called "ABC" from my series-2-tivo to the roamio. While transferring, it shows it in-progress, however it shows it with the name of some other show "XYZ" in the MyShows listing as being transferred. Once done, I watch it, and it's the "ABC" show as expected. But it has the wrong name, and description.
Anybody else see this problem?
I go view it on the series2 and it's named correctly with proper description.
It doesn't happen on EVERY transferred show.
I'm used to various SDV issues, mostly a failure of my TiVo HD to tune in the channel properly, resulting in nothing but a black screen. Fortunately, I haven't seen that on the Roamio.
Oddly, what I *have* now seen a few times is a new unique situation. Tuning to an SDV channel, I can see the picture and hear audio - for about 1-2 seconds. Then, I get the "channel temporarily unavailable," "press select" message.
I'm not sure why TiVo is displaying the "press select" message in this instance, because clearly the channel is tuned properly, since I can see and hear the channel. I can only assume this is a bug, and a rather annoying one at that.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi All, I attempted the Actiontec MoCA installation for like the 5th time after recently purchasing installing a Apple Extreme Router, and actually not so bad this time!
Still my Wireless adapters on my ThinkPad and Apple Devices seem to be 'circling' or 'searching' for a 'stable' wireless connect speed.
Whereas prior adding the MoCA the Thinkpad signals were at 300M Rock Solid 24/7. Now the Signals vary and are constantly going up and down, between 150-300 on my ThinkPad. Internet speed at time can be painful.
Could this be a symptom of needing POE Filter?
If not could somebody point me in the right direction on how to reduce interference or whatever is causing the wireless adapter speed to vary?
Thanks in advance.
There are new 'hybrid' 2TB drives available from Seagate (and I suppose others) that have huge 'SSD' caches, supposedly speeding things up considerably. Newegg currently has one for $99.
Has anyone used one of these in the S3 OLED model and noticed any improvements?
Specifically, I'd like for the guide and menus to load faster (a LOT faster), and Season Passes to register more quickly.
Playback/record performance is just fine as is.
This is my first post...
I couldn't pass up this deal from Bestbuy. I basically paid $100+tax for the Roamio. However, I'm currently paying $7 for my DVR box and $20 for the DVR services monthly. I have 2 DVR boxes so $14. Total for my DVR setup is $34/month.
I was thinking about buying the lifetime for Roamio which can be had for $399 plus I had plans to get a Mini. The Mini costs around $90+$150 for lifetime. All in all, I'm paying roughly 755 total for lifetime services. To break even, I'd have to use the Tivo about 23 months. Which sounds like a good deal long term but here's my dilemma. With my cable boxes, anything breaks, I can turn it in and get a new one for free. I can't do that with Tivo. And I can't imagine myself using it for more than 3 years as it's probably going to be outdated. So I'd still have to buy a new Tivo and I don't think my subcripstion carries over to the new one, does it?
Another question, do I get cable on demand with Roamio?
Besides what I already posted, anything else that the Tivo offers that my cable DVR's don't?
Should I keep it??
Your insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!
I'm getting 8-12Mbps from my HD TiVo's but I just tried the Roamio and got 95MBps. Wow, I may start moving shows to the NAS and not worry about local TiVo drive space anymore. :)
I have 3 Tivo's (S1, S2, S2) all with lifetime service and I'm looking at possibly purchasing a new Roamio but I was wondering if there were any deals out there better than what Tivo was offering me over the phone? Here's the deal:
Base model Roamio: $149.99 (Orig $199)
Lifetime Service: $399 (Orig $499)
Total $548 (Plus Tax/Ship)
I've read some messages where folks are getting lifetime service offers for $99 but I don't see any such existing deals.
I'm used to TIVO and all its quirks. When the picture stutters, I know to just hit the replay or rewind button to stop it. I just don't recall when my TIVOHDs started doing it. I do know when it gets really bad, it just means hard drive is going bad, and I've replaced a few TivoHD hard drives. I got the Roamio Plus for 5 days now. I haven't put service on it because I'm waiting for my CC for the points as well as making sure I get a good unit. During these 5 days, there have been a few times now where the picture would stutter and I have to do the replay trick. Is this a cause for concern at all? I mean this early in ownership? I wouldn't be surprised if I get a replacement and it does the same thing. So I don't want to bother. But just curious, any of you Roamio owners get the stuttering yet?
If this is common, I can just imagine the panic that newbies to tivo would experience. LOL! Especially if they don't all you have to do is hit replay or rewind to get it to stop.
I have been with Tivo since 2000 and have been a satisfied customer thru out. I have had both lifetime and monthly. Have added and removed/sold Tivos without any problems in the activation process. Until now...My wife has been using a two tuner Premier and wanted to upgrade to a Roamio four tuner. Her plan is monthly at $12.99 so we contacted Tivo and inquired for the best way to move this plan to a new Roamio. The agent said we had to buy the Tivo from Tivo directly and they would ship it unactivated so my wife could keep using the Premier until the new Tivo arrived. Then, they said, when it arrives contact Tivo and they will swap the TSN and the Premier would be deactivated and the Roamio activated. I called Tivo yesterday (Nov 29th) in the morning and the agent confirmed everything and put it into the system which promptly generated an error. She told me that the process would have to be escalated and done by someone in another department. Apparently their system sometimes has a problem when swapping plans via a TSN switch. She said that someone would get back to me. I waited all day and then called again. The next time I called the agent I spoke to could not access my account as their computers were in an update process and account info was not available. However, he did say as soon as they were back up he would call me again which he did 3 hours later. He explained that this kind of problem happens but very rarely. Did not make me feel better to know I was part of an elite group of people.:mad:He then said the fastest way was to just cancel the Premier and then activate the Roamio at the same rate. I said great lets do that. So, he put me on hold, several times. He eventually came back and said he could not do it that way since the Premiere was still under contract until January. I explained that I bought the unit from them in Nov 2011 and the contract was up in Nov 2012. No I was wrong..In Jan 2012 I got a $2 monthly price cut from $14.99 to $12.99 and that automatically renewed a one year commitment. He said he has to let the TSN switch go thru the system until another department sees it and does a manual swap. Could take 2-3 business days. In the mean time the Roamio is a brick and I fortunately did not swap cable card from the Premiere to the Roamio. It is very frustrating because all I can do is wait until at least Wednesday for them to do something. Meanwhile I ran guided setup just to do something with it. I hope this gets resolved without any more problems. Tivo has made this more complicated then needed. They used to allow you to change TSN via their website. Now you have to go thru them and this only adds another level of complexity.
Has anyone else run into this kind of a problem before?
I've been trying to configure side two of my TiVo remote to control the Apple TV only. But I can't get it to stop controlling the TiVo also. I've tried covering the TiVo's remote sensor, erasing the code entirely first (programming it to zero), being in and out of the system settings, even setting the remote code up in a different room, but side 2 always controls the TiVo. When I go into the system settings it always displays the last code I've programmed the remote to.
I'm using the steps from this Tivo support article:
Side one is set up with remote code 1. Side 2 is currently set to remote code 9.
It's a TiVo HD, if that makes any difference.
I currently have been living with a HR10-250 for quite some time. I'm actually quite happy with it, except for the lack of (new) HD content. I've been running with TivoWebPlus to manage it, and have been backing it up with mfs_ftp.tcl to cope with the odd disk failure and to make the odd DVD for long trips with my young son whose shows aren't always available on DVD. I also enjoy hacking together new programs to run on it...
Assuming I'm happy with the TiVo user interface, how many of these features would I miss if I upgraded to the THR-22?
For perhaps six weeks now, TiVo customers on San Diego Time Warner have been receiving wildly wrong schedule information for UCSD TV (channel 135). This causes TiVos to record the wrong programs, etc.
I have three times reported this to TiVo, with no results. Each time they say they've entered the problem and somebody else has to get around to looking at it.
Its a strange error. Some days the schedule is partly right, but most days it is completely wrong at all times during the day. It is as if the schedule is off by several days.
To demonstrate how wildly different the schedules are, I have copied a small section of today's schedule below.
Schedule for 11/30/2013, as displayed on TiVo (wrong)...
12 AM - Gretchen Ruben: Don't Worry Be Happy Now
1 AM - Walk Togeyther for Freedom: Jahangir
2 AM - Salman Rushdie- Revelle Forum
3 AM - To Be Human: Historical Christian Views
Schedule for 11/30/2013 as shown on UCSD.TV web site (right)...
12 AM - Global Health and Global Threats with Laurie Garrett
12:30 AM - Brain Mapping
1:30 AM - Chronicalling Cancer from the Best Seller to the Big Screen
2 AM - Iraq's Journey from Dictator to Democracy
3 AM - Ethics and the Modern Corp
Anybody else suffer from this problem? Hey, if so, please give TiVo a call, because they need some more encouragement.
I can understand occasional schedule mistakes, but they ought to be able to get them fixed within a few days, and apparently they don't.
The 4 year old (upgrade) 2TB drive in one of my Tivos decided to stop working earlier this week.
I pulled the drive and ran Spinrite but it didn't find a problem. I reinstalled the unit and the Tivo would still not get past the initial "Starting" screen before endlessly rebooting. :(
I tried several different Kickstart codes but none of them would take. The system would just go back to a black screen and reboot. Oh well...
A different freshly imaged drive would work perfectly. (to verify it was the drive and not the MoBo or PS.)
So in an effort to get my recordings back I picked up a new drive from Newegg and ran WD Diags to verify it's a good drive. I then ran MFSCopy from within WinMFS to dupe the original drive contents to the replacement. It took over 8 hours, but once I installed the replacement 2TB drive, the Tivo HDXL was working again with all of the recorded programs there. :D
Now I guess it's time to wipe the old drive and re-purpose it.
Can you buy the same remote that comes with the roamio, for use with the mini?
I really think the redesigned layout is much improved.

Connected a new Roamio Plus yesterday, and today installed a cableCARD from Mediacom Cable.
All channels are present in the guide. I can use the guide to select a channel to watch. I can record and playback a program from the guide.
But I get C501 error from:
- What to Watch Now
- Browse TV & Movies
Search returns a "Search results are temporarily unavailable".
If I select Season Pass and other options from a program in the guide, a blank screen is displayed for a couple of seconds and then back to the guide.
I've seen this show live twice. It's awesome. Set your DVRs. Not sure how they will work it with commercial breaks.
I know we have streaming available on ios and android is coming. Can't wait for android. Could we also stream through the website and our sign in?
