Has anyone out there get a QNAP NAS to talk to a series 4 TIVO. My Netgear NAS had an app for this and worked fairly well. I've stepped up a few steps to a QNAP and their DLNA app is invisible to my TIVOs. I tracked down a way to create an TIVO app, but is waaaaaay above my head.
So I have product lifetime service for my TiVo Premiere and have had few complaints (although I can't for the life of me understand why both tuners end up on the same channel more often than not, but that's another story).
Anyway, last night I was checking the To Do list and noticed that my Sunday night shows (Copper, The Killing, and Falling Skies) next weekend (on the 14th) weren't going to be recorded. I thought, WTF? So I called up the "Live Guide" on the TiVo for each channel involved (BBC America, AMC and Syfy, respectively) and jumped forward through to the 14th, only to discover, for each of them, that there's a gap in the data from about 5 pm Sunday the 14th to 5 pm Monday the 15th. And it turns out it's not just those channels involved either (I randomly checked a couple more channels). What provoked my curiosity in the first place was wondering whether we were going to get a new Walking Dead episode next Sunday night, BTW.
For now I've set the Tivo, VCR-like, to record by time and channel, but I'm going to monitor it and see if the problem corrects itself. I'd be curious to find out if anyone else's TiVo is doing this.
Certain Posters feel the need to get angry, name call, report or stamp their feet whenever anyone points out the warts of this product or company?
This is a board about "general TiVo discussion" isn't it?
Why the hostility?
Geez, you'd think I said Chevys rule and Fords Suck.
Sorry to bother, but my Premiere XL (TCD748000) died yesterday (I think from power outage...it is stuck on "Welcome...starting up" and makes a loud noise). I thought it was the fan, but the fan is blowing nicely. So I've come to the conclusion it's the hard drive. I'm happy to go to Fry's to get a new hard drive, and follow instructions I have found online, but I cannot find the ISO for the TCD748000 anywhere. Would someone happen to know where I can find one?
Much appreciated for your help. :)
What's the proper process for installing Tivo Desktop plus on a new PC.
I installed 2.8.3 on an HP Win7 laptop wirelessly and 'connected' it to my account. It said that it had been attached to my old PC and would I like to replace it with the new one, I did that. But, my new install can't see either of my Tivo's (series 2's, wireless). Old install (Dell XP laptop hardwired) still works, laptop can see Tivo's and Tivo's can see old XP machine. Do I have to uninstall Desktop from old machine? Will that 'fix' it? Or, are the other steps that I need to do? hard reboot everything? Anything else?
I have an Ethernet cable from my Tivo and connected to my D-Link router.
I have an Ethernet cable from you cable modem to my router.
Is this the best setup or is there a better way to use Tivo?
I don't know if this problem existed before I moved from AT&T DSL to Cox Cable Modem or not but when I ran diagnostics it said that Port configuration failed and it said TCP 8080 needs to be open. How do I open it?
My router is a D-Link 615.
Just noticed my OLED Series 3 has a new software version 11.0m-01-2-648. Anyone else have it or know what was changed?
Was working earlier this week. When I navigate to the pytivo playon interface in the now playing list and try to transfer a streaming internet video, tivo adds it to the todo list and does nothing with it.
I'm reassembling my AV system after remodeling the room and I can't seem to get any Youtube videos to deliver anything but PCM stereo from my Premiere Elite to my AV receiver. I seem to recall being able to do this in the past. Netflix and cable channels pass through Dolby Digital just fine.
My setup is Tivo Premire Elite connected via HDMI to Yamaha Aventage RX-A800 connected to a Samsung UN55D7000 TV via HDMI.
Is this a known limitation or do I need to keep on playing with my setup configuration?
Did anyone even see this? I heard nothing about it until the day before it aired. I recorded it to see if I would be at all interested.
Really slow, and pretty boring. It's a drama, disguised as a reality survival show. In the first episode, something goes horribly wrong and the show producers have to decide if the winter long "survival experiment" will continue.
Pretty much a train wreak I doubt I will be in for the whole season
I have notice several older SD shows are being broadcast in 1080i without any boxing; they fill the entire HDTV screen. I can't detect any cropping that might explain how the show would easily be up converted to HD. Clearly all the shows were recorded in SD 480 format, yet somehow the shows are have been converted to HD 1080i without distoring the image or quality (BTW, I have seen some very bad conversions, which is not what I am referencing here)
Some shows I have noticed that have up converted without loosing quality:
Not a big list, and other then Friends and Seinfeld, the others aren't really that compelling as classic show.
Personal pet peeve - I cannot stand what a plastic personality Julie Chen is in the eviction episodes. Good grief. She is painful to watch.
Anoher peeve - what is the deal with all the hair extensions? Who pays to make their hair long? It grows for free.
These people are annoying and not smart. And it scares me because I'm thinking this is our public school system showing their average "consumer."
The sound cut out while Julie was explaining the game. If they're set up in teams, are there then two HOHs?
That worked out really well for the MC. Why didn't Jeremy vote with them?
Funny that he, Nick, and Spencer all seem to think they're the mastermind of the MC. Should be a fun implosion when that happens. Hope Jeremy is the first of them to go.
I agree with the last ep comment/concern about Elissa winning MVP multiple weeks in a row. Especially after seeing how many twitterers follow Rachel.
McRae needs to somehow show her that he was involved in saving her this week. She's ticked at him! :)
I just went from DSL to Cox Cable Modem (Motorola SB6121) and I can't see my PC recordings under Now Playing List.
When I click on No Playing on BRENTS is says, "The Now Playing on BRENTS PC has no recordings." but I can see them on my PC using Tivo Desktop software and the recordings work.
Has anyone on this thread successfully restored an HR10 with WinMFS?
I have two HR10s and the following winmfs3f backups.
- HR10#1 Original before Guided Setup
- HR10#1 500MB PTVnet/Instant Cake 6.4a after Guided Setup
- HR10#2 Original before Guided Setup
- HR10#2 1TB PTVnet/Instant Cake 6.4a after Guided Setup
None of the restores worked.
a) Restore HR10#2 1TB to 1TB drive: PowerOn-AlmostThere-PowerOn loop.
b) Restore HR10#2 Original to 300MB drive: PowerOn-AlmostThere-PowerOn loop.
c) Restore HR10#2 1TB to 500MB drive: PowerOn-AlmostThere-PowerOn loop.
d) Restore HR10#1 Original to 300MB drive: PowerOn-AlmostThere-PowerOn loop.
e) Restore HR10#1 1TB to 1TB drive: PowerOn-AlmostThere-PowerOn loop.
Gave up at this point, and did a PRVnet/Instant Cake install to a 1TB drive.
1) Backed up PTVnet/Instant Cake
2) Installed PTVnet/Instant Cake and did Guided Setup/Season Passes
3) Backed up PTVnet/Instant Cake w/Guided Setup/Season Passes
Attempts to restore these failed too.
MFSrestores were made to:
- 300MB IDE
- 500MB IDE
- two 500MB SATA
- three 1TB SATA
Many of the restores were done twice, one pass replying to "Expand" with Y and the other with N. Made no difference, still went into the power on loop.
Since the failing drive could still boot, did an MFScopy but that did not help, the copy took 7 hours, and went into the power on loop too.
To verify that there were no drive issues, did PTVnet/Instant Cake 6.4a installs to 500MB IDE, 500MB SATA and 1TB SATA drives and all of them booted up fine.
If there are any success stories out there with using WinMFS to backup/restore HR10s I'd like to hear about them, otherwise it looks like WinMFS backup/restore is not functional.
If backup/restore did not work at all I'd expect Search to have turned up some complaints, but maybe it works fine on Series 3 and later, just not the HR10.
I'm using a 5.1 Sound Bar so I would think I should set the Audio setting on my Premiere to Dolby Audio correct? But notice when changing channels the audio takes a few seconds longer to come through the speakers. Is this normal???
