Haven't watched nor recorded the ep yet. I haven't even had a chance to finish last week's ep yet.
How was this ep?
The show doesn't really feel like a must watch compared to other stuff I like and other things that are piling up on my TiVo. I don't even have a SP for it. I just record an upcoming showing of a new ep when I have space (low on space and record this show in HD) and have time to watch. It might end up on my low priority to record and watch list...

I have this on a Series 3 that I want to sell, but have kept it because it will not transfer to my New XL4...because of copy bits.
I just noticed that it is going on May 26th, Sunday, again but have a few questions for you "guys".
My original show(s) are THREE 2 hour segmants for a total of 6 HRS. However, the Tivo Schedule shows it on History HD as 3-4 PACIFIC TIME and then 4-5. BOTH have the same description. I bet these are the 2 hour PART 1 but will TIVO not record the second hour thinking I already have it? From 5-7 is Part 2. and 7-9 is the expected part 3. So, is this correct and how can I be sure I get all 6 hours?
Before this was the fast way to schedule a show from a browser, it was the lightweight mobile web interface and worked great. Now it just redirects you to get their app and other useless account mgmt stuff (when you click on Current Customers), the scheduler part is gone. So if you're on a PC, you have to navigate their slow main site to do anything.
So I was totally unaware that this was in production. Looks okay, based on the trailer...

I'm curious as to how the hdmi pass thru will function on the Xbox One as far as using the Tivo. The voice commands on the Xbox one seem pretty neat, but I love my Tivos. I really hope they will work seamlessly.

I have used voice commands on Netflix/HboGo via Kinect for some time. It is convenient. This may take your average home hum cable box (not Tivo Premiere XL4, love it!) into the next gen of features. Looks interesting to say the least.
I just don't get how it can work with all the different boxes out there but voice activation is convenient and does work on my 360 right now so next gen it should be even better.
XboxOne is using some sort of hdmi passthrough/overlay system. So it is NOT controlling out Tivo but somehow accessing all the content within it (kinda like Google TV, I think). I have had my Series 4 Tivo for about 4 months now.
For the past month or so when watching a recorded show it will get into a series of stutters. Meaning it will stutter for a few secs. then is fine for about 15 secs then does it again and will do this for a couple of mins at a time.
Now the weird part is.... I can rewind and repeat the same scenes and it won't stutter at the same time as before so I wouldn't think it is the Hard Drive.
This is happening on at least 3 different channels.
Here's my situation:
I just purchased a 2013 Samsung Smart TV (Model UN55F7500) and Tivo Premiere. According to everyone I've spoken with (the Best Buy Geek Squad that installed everything, Samsung technical support, and Tivo technical support), the two devices can't communicate with each other when it comes to changing the channel.
I have a cable card installed in my Tivo, which means Tivo is acting as my set-top box and has control over what channel is displayed. So, when I change the channel on the Samsung TV using the Samsung remote control, nothing happens. This not only prevents simple channel switching using the TV remote, it renders many of the TV's "Smart" features useless. For example, the main Smart TV page shows channels, programs and recommendations that are currently showing -- but if you see something you like, on say, HBO, and click that window, nothing happens because the TV tries to switch to that channel but it cannot. The only way to change the channel is by using the Tivo remote.
Here are the possible solutions I've explored:
1. Use the Samsung IR Blaster. The Samsung TV comes with an IR blaster that is designed to enable the Samsung remote to serve as a universal remote. Hence, you plug a cable to the back of the TV and place a transmitter in front of the set-top box. In talking to Samsung, this is the set-up one is supposed to follow when operating the TV with a set-top box. However, the Samsung technical report person I spoke to told me that the Samsung IR blaster (at least on my model) is NOT compatible with Tivo machines; it is only compatible with the manufactured DVR machines in use by the cable companies. Multiple attempts get to two devices to link confirm this. For what it's worth, the HDMI connections seem to be working just fine because I can change the channel using the Tivo remote, and view/play Tivo on the TV just fine.
2. Use Tivo as the "universal" remote. My next attempt was to see if I could use the Tivo remote to control the TV, and the channels along with it. This doesn't work because the Samsung Remote is a touchpad and the Smart TV screen it interacts with essentially looks like giant smart phone screen (meaning you swipe across the touchpad and click things as you would on an iPhone). The Tivo remote (with its basic arrow buttons) simply can't interface with this technology. In other words, it can't navigate through the TV's menus and Smart features because it lacks the interface to do so.
3. Use a third party universal remote (e.g., Logitech Harmony). In theory, a device like this will talk to your individual devices, but it still cannot make them talk to each other. Therefore, I'm still back at square one if I use the Harmony remote to click on "HBO" in the Smart TV menu, because the Smart TV still needs to send a command to switch to that channel and it has no way of telling the Tivo to do so.
I'm at my wit's end in trying to figure this out and none of the technical support specialists I've spoken to have been able to offer a solution. Still, it seems inconceivable to me that these two major brands can't operate together.
Has anyone experienced this issue or come across a solution?
Any wisdom/advice/ideas would be much appreciated.
This should be interesting. It should be interesting to see how my Tivos will handle the channel updates. On a positive note it now appears that the SD channels will be replaced with the HD versions. I believe this means that the old SD channel numbers will now carry the HD version. I guess time will tell.
Hi everyone! I could really use some help. I gave up on a netflix streaming account more than a year go because I had so many problems with it on my tivo. It did work for awhile but then stopped and never worked again. It always said there was an unexpected error. Today I tried to sign up again for streaming. I tried to activate it on tivo and no luck. Same error message as all those months ago! Does anybody have any suggestions of what I should try first?
New Tivo owner here, and, for the most part, I am enjoying the experience. I had been thinking about getting a Tivo for a while. My cable provider, Comcast, provided a DVR player last year on a special promotion and well, hubby and I fell in love with it. This year when my tripple play went from 199.30 to 230.30, I thought it was just too much. I downgraded my services and looked again at Tivo. I loved that Tivo was now providing a whole home solution with the minis. We only have 3 tvs, and I was tired of paying 9.95 for each additional outlet. Besides, one reason for not switching to Tivo had been the lack of the on-demand functioning, which Tivo now provides in our area.
The change over was okay. I brought a XL4 and 2 minis and lifetime subscription on all. I wish I knew that I should have changed out the equipment before getting the M card. (Had a technician come to install the Tivo, but he would not since I had not gone through the getting started screens--just left me the M-card, which I had to change to get the pairing to work). I am grateful that I activated my account the evening before the switch. I didn't understand the MoCa thing; but it was really easy--if only the Tivo material let me know that I must choose Moca and ethernet on the screen for the Minis to work. I finally figured it out.
As you know, the Tivo interface is great. I've allocated 1 tuner to the minis and it works out perfectly. I am a bit surprised at how many shows the Tivo suggestion chooses. While we have recorded 6 movies/shows, Tivo recorded 12 as suggestions. I haven't found out how to change this yet. There are a few things that I miss, though. Having the phone number appear on the TV screen for in-conming calls was the first thing. The other was the missing okay button (and corresponding question--would you like to watch this in HD)for changing from regular digital to an HD channel without looking up the channel when both are available.
As a result of the Tivo & minis (and downgrade to premere service) my cable bill dropped 68 per month. If it stays the same, it will take me a bit less than 2 years to recoup my investment, then its just gravy. I don't think we would have purchased the Tivo if the minis were not available, or if on demand from xfinity were not available. I am grateful for both.

Anyhow, that was still a pretty intense final scene.
Also, poor Monroe.... doubt he's got anyone around him willing to fall on a grenade for him. Maybe I'll be proven wrong.
But I'd put money on the fact that Monroe and Rachel will still be alive next week. Question is how? If they gave a clue in the previews I didn't see it because I try not to watch those.
Here is an interesting problem I am running into. I am able to stream SOME shows from my XL4. And when I try to stream others, I get an error that the clip could not be played. The Stream setup went fine. I am not sure if the format is different on some shows, or if the programs are copy protected.
Or perhaps the clips are corrupted in some way.
Since the latest update, it takes a good 10 seconds to refresh after deleting a show from the Recently Deleted folder. I know, it's not necessary, but I like to clean things up occassionally.
There was a passing reference on this forum to using kmttg to delete shows from the Recently Deleted folder.
Could someone please tell me how that's done. I've installed kmttg but can't find an option for doing that.
We knew how this would end, three years and 40 episodes ago. Didn't make it any easier. But damn, I really enjoyed the ride.
I could make some remark about how dusty it is, or some such nonsense. But the truth is, the tears came freely.
This may be real competition for TiVo. If the Xbox 720 has DVR functionality it will have the market reach to outperform TiVo. Add a cable card - or better yet push for a decryption over IP solution and the die will be cast.
I have been thinking Microsoft would go in this direction for a while. Console gaming is on the decline. In order to stay relevant the Xbox and other gaming consoles need to be the "epicenter" of the family room.
So, I got an older series 3 tivo from a coworker for dirt cheap. It works fine. However, when I went to pick it up, they obviously are all heavy cigarette smokers as most of the house smelled like smoke. After I got this series 3 home, I then noticed its case and peanut remote have a faint smell of smoke.
We don't smoke so are probably extra sensitive to the smell, but is there maybe a good way of cleaning up this series 3's hardware to get rid of the smell? Or is it now really just gonna require a good amount of time to basically air out?
