Can A Tivo Stream be attached to my network with an Ethernet Switch. And if so, would 100mbps transfer rate be sufficient enough?
I hope this hasnt been covered. I have looked and havent found any answers.
I have a man cave with 2 TVs set up next to each other. Currently I have a Series 3 and a comcast cable box providing signal to the 2 TVs. I know its possible to allocate the MINI to the 2nd tv but how would remotes work in that situation. I know with 2 tivos you could switch the 1/2 button. Would I be able to control the Tivo and the MINI independently?
So I had an old receiver that didn't do HDMI pass thru. It would do the video thru HDMI but I had to split the audio using an optical cable. I have a Premiere XL4.
In an effort to clean up my cabling and move my xbox 360 to an audio system I got a new Sony HT-CT150. It's an amp/soundbar that does HDMI pass thru.
I've got the tivo and the xbox both hooked up with HDMI only and an HDMI output to the TV.
The Xbox sounds spectacular and exactly how I would expect it to, with no messing around of settings.
The Tivo sounds... tinny. I've messed with the various presets and nothing really seems to make a difference. It's set to Dolby Digital in the tivo settings.
I'd really prefer not to have to run another cable to split the audio up, and not sure if it'd make a difference anyway. Everything I'm reading says it really shouldn't.
Any ideas? Feels like I'm missing something easy
My setup is 2 TiVo Premiere Q's and 2 TiVo Minis. As explained to me, each mini takes one tuner each from one of the Premieres. So one Q records 4, the other records 2.
My question is, how do I switch which one records 4? Currently the bedroom is recording 4, I want the living room to record 4.
A TrackTalk banner ad says "Behold the biggest, boldest box ever. Record 1,000 hours, 4 channels at once. The NEW TiVo Premiere XL4 DVR". What are they talking about? I thought the XL4 had 300 hours of capacity.
My Tivo XL 4 (with Comcast Cable) has been sometimes deleting the last program or two I've recorded less than an hour after recording them, even though I've clicked "Keep until I delete" and have the green dots by them. Under Recording History, the shows say "This recording was deleted because it had expired. The space was used for other recordings..."-- yet I had no other recordings scheduled. I had at least 1-2 full HD hours (or at least 12-22 SD hours) left, and the programs were normal 1080i and 720p length one hour recordings. What's worse, while I can get back programs I delete, I don't know how to get back programs the Tivo decided to delete.
While I had a lot of other severe problems with DirecTV, I don't remember their own HD DVRs ever deleting my saved programs without asking my permission first. I also liked the way DirecTV DVRs allowed you to set a default automatic "save/ keep until I delete" on all programs. Tivo seems to care more about deleting programs than allowing us to keep them.
So, how do you think he's doing? I was just wondering what others thought.
I think this week has had some ups and downs but I'm starting to really enjoy him. I miss Stewart, but Oliver's not too shabby.

I love the way that the editing of this show can make it look like the haircuts actually changed their luck. Maybe it really did, but I'm not convinced.

OK everyone. I have looked through the related threads and I believe my problem is different. In the other threads, the users can still get the menus, etc to work. In my instance I get nothing, no video at all, until I restart the unit, which is no fun as the unit takes an absurd amount of time to restart. It has been working just fine for about 3 years, but now suddenly it seems to be blanked out anytime we go to use it. Any thoughts? It is a non-modded unit and our signal is via comcast cable card.
I'm surprised there's no thread yet. I thought this was a good episode. So there's another President, the real US President, and they have found out about Tom's little republic. You can pretty much guess, based on the reaction of the captured soldier that they have no deals with the aliens.
CWCNY in Central New York completely changed all its HD channel numbers. Both of my Premieres w/tuning adapters lost all channels above 99.
Local tech passed me off to Cable Card specialist, who had me read stuff from the cable card installer menus. She even tried unpairing and re-pairing the cable card; nothing worked.
She said nobody else she knew of had this problem, but I have have the problem on both boxes. She offered me a roll today but I'm too busy. The tech will be here tomorrow.

It's interesting, usually when a channel changes, even one I don't have turned on, I get a message on my TiVo. This time, every channel changed and no message. It's even worse than when the tuning adapter breaks, because at least then, I can get the main network HD channels and a few more. With this, it's every HD channel.
I think TW is doing this region by region, so maybe they'll learn something from yo situation that will help others.
So, I have MLB.TV, AOL something or other, Youtube and something else.
They already are in another menu (find TV etc.) if i need to use them. I would like to remove them from "My Programs".
I have two of these S3 OLEDs still running great, both lifetimed and upgraded (to 1TB I think).
I see them sold on Ebay (completed listings) for $250-350.
Any interest here? If I can eat into the replacement Premiere S4 $350, I may take TiVo up on the current $450 lifetimed S4 offer.
I currently have a FIOS STB, and have just ordered a Tivo Premier XL4. I use FIOS for my internet as well. The TIVO is supposed to come with service pre-activated since I ordered online.
I have coax running to my FIOS STB.
For the Tivo as the FIOS router does MOCA, do I need to connect the Tivo's ethernet to my home network in addition to FIOS coax?
Do I need to have the technician do anything different?
Any words of wisdom?
So I have 2 regular Premiere units and a 4 tuner Elite. All of them are configured with the exact same channel lineup. Today I was having a signal problem so I was checking the signal strength meter on the TiVos.
First off one of the Premiere units throws up an error saying "you can not access this feature because your lineup does not contain any digital channels". WTF? I know it does because I can tune then in live TV.
The other Premiere shows a signal strength of exactly 79 for every single channel.
The Elite seems to work properly showing a strength between 87 and 95 for most channels.
All of them are using the newest software release. Is this some sort of bug with the latest software and the 2 tuner units?
I have been watching broadcast HD channels 702, 703, 705, 707 and 709 on my HD Tivo in the Bay Area for years and recently I no longer get 2 of these channels dues to 'digital migration'. According to Comcast support once my account is audited I will no longer get any of these channels unless I upgrade to a 'preferred' account.
I checked the Comcast page for my zip code and sure enough, limited basic does not offer broadcast HD channels anymore. Only digital preferred and digital premier, which I don't need.
What are my options? Do I have to use rabbit ears to get the digital signal outside of Comcast or is there some way I can get broadcast hd channels through Comcast while keeping my limited basic account.
