I've been out of the loop for a while and am thinking about coming back to Plex. Right now I have a Windows Media Center PC w/XBox 360 as an extender. I also have Plex running on that WMC machine and use a nettop PC in the other room (running XBMC w/PleXBMC) for playing back high-bitrate Blu-ray rips, etc., that are stored on the main server.
I think the answer is "no" based on the searching I've done here, but I'm wondering if it's possible to have an all-in-one solution with a Roamio playing back my high-bitrate movies. What, if any, options are there and what are the pros/cons involved?
I have a Tivo Premier and YouTube and Netflix is slow and unresponsive, is it better on the Romeo? If so I'll upgrade, just curious if it is better with new hardware.
So, I'm trying to decide which Roamio to buy and I couldn't help but notice something on the TiVo website I hadn't noticed before. At https://tivo.com/shop/roamio
it's saying that the base model Roamio includes the remote finder feature(there's a green dot in the comparison chart under DVR Features).
I'm confused though because everything else I've read on the internet(and even some stuff on these forums) seems to say that the only the Plus and Pro models feature the remote finder. In addition, TiVo's own pictures of the devices seem to show that the Plus and Pro have a little remote icon on the front and the base model only shows a circle without a remote icon.
Which one is right? Does the TiVo Roamio have the remote finder feature like the chart says? Or was that green circle on the chart put there in error?
can i simply swap the cable card and the other box from the cable company into the roamio or do i need to call the cable company out again to set those items up?
just bought a roamio tonight and have premiere at home.
I have brand new roamio basic. It replaced a premier and was installed in same place, same connections, same cable card. Occasionally I have bad pixellation on all channels but after awhile it stops and can be fine for hours another time. Then it comes back for awhile. Did not have this problem with premiere. The fact that I don't have it all the time has me puzzled. Also I don't see people posting pixellation problems anymore except the Verizon thread and I have Comcast. Do I have a bad roamio that I should return or is there a fix?
Really surprised that there's no thread yet as I thought that this episode was an A+ effort.
They really hit a grand slam with this episode.
Every note was perfect, from the opening with Bear at Reese's bedside, to Finch and Shaw at Carter's funeral (with Johnny Cash's Hurt playing), to the end with Elias' henchman strangling Simmons.
Gunnyman was right that unhinged Reese is very scary and I thought that most of the episode would be about Reese trying to get revenge.
Instead it turned out to be an excellent "team" show, with every cast member getting a chance to strut their acting chops and getting to contribute to the story.
As I hinted in the previous episode thread, I had suspected that it would be Fusco though that would actually pull the trigger on Simmons, especially after seeing the flashback of him in the Department Psychiatrist's office but the writers surprised me with Fusco declining to do so and bringing Simmons in instead.
And then they have Elias administer the coup de grace which I suppose was necessary because I suspect it was unlikely that the NY DA's office could successfully prosecute Simmons for Carter's murder.
The direction and cinematography were also outstanding this episode.
I especially like how the sequences at the funeral and the motel were shot.
It seriously baffles me as to why this show doesn't get more buzz and praise.
The last three episodes have been some of the best television I've seen in a while.
I've looked at the similar threads, but as we all know, Comcast billing varies quite a bit from area to area. Since getting a Roamio (and selling one TiVoHD) I'm now really looking forward to getting rid of the second TiVoHD to get the performance and options available with a Roamio/Mini combination.
I'm trying to make sure I understand what fees from Comcast will change. I currently have one Roamio with CableCard, and one TiVoHD with CableCard. I have no other TV's.
I have the Comcast Xfinity HD Preferred XF bundle.
Fees that I think are in play include:
- Digital Add'l outlet Svc $9.25
- TiVo $1.00
- Cable Card Additional $0.00
Customer owned equipment adjustment - $2.50
Customer owned equipment adjustment - $2.50
So looking at that, what I -think- should happen is that I will return one CableCard, and the $9.25 fee will go away, and one of the $2.50 refunds will go away, for a net change of $6.25 in my favor.
I have no idea what the TiVo fee is - I haven't seen that before...
Thoughts? Is it worth it to try to walk through this with online chat with someone from Comcast?
The remote on my tivo premier xl is very unreliable. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not do anything. The batteries are new. I have rebooted the tivo. Rebooting does help temporarily. I can control my tivo using the ipad app. That seems to always work, even when the remote does not. Any ideas?
Am I the only one, sometimes have to enter a channel several times to get there?
Example I press 623 it takes me to 104. Happens all the time channel numbers vary. Why is this, update fix possible?
I have 2 minis it happens on both.
I've got the Tivo Premiere. The latest software update changed how newly created wishlists behaved, by "auto-recording" my newly created wishlists. For instance, I created a wishlist for Titles containing the word "college" with a category of "basketball" and then saved it. Well..... the autorecord feature put zillions of college basketball shows and games and CONFLICTS on my todo list. Before this software release, I was able to create a wishlist and then subsequently edit my wishlist; and not choose to "autorecord" until I was ready.
So..... I deleted the wishlist. Deleting the wishlist did not clean up the "college" "basketball" CONFLICTS on my todo list. It left a zillion CONFLICTS on my todolist, which render it almost unusable. Each time that I go to my todo list, I have to tell the Premiere to show only shows that will be recorded (no conflicts), in order to get around the mess. Ugh! Plus, when I deleted the wishlist, it did not delete all of the scheduled wishlist recordings from my todo list, so I had to go thru the stupid todo list to erase all of the "college" "basketball" shows and games that the system did not clean up.
I rebooted the premiere. That did not fix the problem of zillions of CONFLICTS.
As a result of the change to the wishlist process it forces me to autorecord the wishlist, whether I want to or not. And then it permanently places the conflicts on my todo list, whether or not I delete the wishlist.
Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to work around this problem? Is there a way to avoid auto-recording my wishlist? Is there a way to clear the wishlist without deleting my program info?
Reason Im wanting to do this: #1 the OLED display is awesome. #2 Mediacom has S cards in my area but for a month havent been able to get me M-Cards. Im sick of waiting, and im feeling run down and out of options and desperate.
I have been having problems getting some CNET podcasts ever since the Fall update. I sent in a report to Tivo and they told me to do a Clear and delete of program info and todo lost. I really don't want to do this since I'll have to re-enter all my season passes again. I have posted my description of the problem below. Does anyone have any other suggestions to try?
Here is a description of what is happening:
1. I select the download manager
2. It lists the following items
2b CNET News HD
2c. All CNET HD Video Podcasts
A. I select 'circuits'
Aa. It shows a screen with various options on what to do with the season pass. I select modify, then cancel season pass
Ab. It asks me to confirm the cancel and I select Yes
Ac. It trhen goes back to the options screen and it still shows that I have a season pass.
Ad. When I go back to the download manager, it still lists 'Circuits'
B. From the download manager I select 'All CNET HD Video Podcasts'
Ba. The screen goes right back to the download manager with no error. It never even gets to the option screen.
C. from the download manager I select 'CNET News HD'
Ca. It shows the option screen where I pick 'modify season pass', then 'Cancel season pass'
Cb. It asks for confirmation and I select yes. It goes back to the option screen where now it asks if I want to create a season pass'. This is how it is supposed to work.
Cc. WHen I now go back to the download manager, it no longer shows the CNET News entry
Description C above is how the download manager is supposed to work. Of my 3 season passes for podcasts, item C is also the only one that is downloading any shows.
I would be happy if I could just clear out the 3 items in download manager and start again but I can't delete them (except for the only one that is working).
Does anyone know if the new Roamio Tivo's still allow you use distinct IR code sets (with differing base addresses) for multiple Tivos? I've purchased a Roamio Pro.
Do you configure the base address in the same way as in the past?
This would allow me to continue controlling my multiple Tivos (and all of my other devices) with a single universal remote.
I went to use kmttg to convert some files I've already copied over from my TiVo. I found out how to start that process, but I'm getting errors doing it, and I'm not sure why. Other than selecting the file, the only option I picked was "decrypt".
Everything else seems to work, but not this. Here's what I'm seeing. Any advice?

I am considering switching from Cox to Centurylink. The only reason for this switch is that Centurylink offers fiber-driven gigabyte internet in Omaha.
If I move my phone, internet and cable to Centurylink the pricing becomes attractive.
Does anyone know if Tivo will work with Centurylink's Prism TV? The sales people claim that it does - I just want to make sure.
I'm sort of surprised there isn't a thread here yet from last Sunday's episode. I thought that parts of it were excellent TV. Spader really saves this show, all the FBI/CIA/NSA actors are dreadful, but Lizzy, Spader and whomever is the bad person of the week have been worth watching. The bad guy for this episode and next has a great chemistry with Spader.
I could see Spader in the Emmy conversation if this show lasts.
Thinking to upgrade my old Premiere to Roamio: question is, what to do w/ the old Premiere?
I don't have Lifetime on it... I would swap the cable card to new Roamio...
option is to try and sell the Premiere, or use it as a mini-like remote box.
Is a premiere still usable for MRV transfers and streaming from a Roamio and/or S3, without an active subscription? (obviously no live TV w/o sub or cable card).
or is it completely dead w/o a sub?
otherwise , how much is non-lifetimed 320g premiere worth? :)
I've upgraded from an S3 and have a 6 tuner plus roamio.
I was wondering if there is any way to display what all 6 tuners are tuned to without cycling thru all of them?
I had been using the TiVo for tablets Andoid app with my Nexus 7 but now I get this error:
Error response from IT: code: 1005, text: Partner not authorized to do this operation.
when I try to schedule a recording. Has anyone been able to find a solution?
2 Tuner Premiere XL w/lifetime + Slingbox Solo.
PM if interested.
