The Following - The Poets Fire - 2/4/13

Wed, 02/06/2013 - 10:31
Not that great IMO. Maybe each week there will be a "surprise" follower, like Maggie this week, but I guess it wasn't really a surprise. Very little Natalie Zea :( I'll keep "following" the show to see where it goes but I'm starting to lose interest already.

Dogs smell!!

Wed, 02/06/2013 - 08:51
As some of you may recall - We have a new puppy. She's doing great. Almost potty trained, great attitude and spirit...good stuff. I taught her to sit on the first day she was home with us!

I am very odor conscious. If I don't have candles going, I have mulling spices simmering on the stove, etc..

Dogs kind of smell...well...like dogs.

I don't want to bath her too much - I figure that's probably not great for her skin or fur, right? I do it about once a week with some gentle puppy shampoo (that smells like dog to me, btw)

I saw some "freshener" sprays at Pet Smart to use in between baths, but it didn't smell that great to me. It kind of smells like dog, too :o

Are there other places that have them that have a wide variety? Any other suggestions?

It's not putrid or anything - you can't smell her when you come in the house - but when we're cuddling or something (she's very cuddly with GF and me), it's just not very pleasing.

Moving season passes using tivo.com doesnt work

Wed, 02/06/2013 - 08:39
I have a Premiere, and am trying to move my season passes to a Premiere4

I am using the www.tivo.com, season pass manager

I moved them, and about half showed 'corrupt-delete me', a known problem for shows that are no longer active in the guides. My problem is that quite a few WERE still active shows!!! So I deleted the new season passes and moved the Season passes about 10 at a time, and the first 20 moved with only 3 corrupt ones.

Here is where the problem now occurs. I cam move more over to the TP4, and the SP Manager on the website says they are moved, BUT THE TP4 doesn't show them!!

I tried clear program info and todo list, and the web SP Manager shows the machine has no season passes, even though there are 15 shown on the tivo, so something broke.

I CAN make season passes and might have to manually make the 27 missing ones.

Anyone seen this? And I can't run 'clear and delete everything', as I spent 6 DAYS moving all my recorded shows to the new TP4

TIVO HD: Not Getting Full Recording

Wed, 02/06/2013 - 08:02
Not sure if anyone else is having this problem. I have a TIVO HD, with a Verizon FIOS, Cable Card.

Some of the programs I have been recording are skipping to the end, and I am getting only "half" a program.

Last night, I got 15 minutes of "The New Girl" It recorded the beginning played for a bit, then it seemed like a slight pixalation issue occurred, then boom, its at the end of the program, only 15 minutes total recorded..

It happened to me on Shark Tank last week as well, and "the Following" as well.

Is this a cable card issue or a Tivo HD issue?

Not sure if anyone else has been having this weird problem.

I am going to try and record some stuff off my antenna to see if it is a cable card issue, but wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks for the help.

Buggy Season Pass Options?

Wed, 02/06/2013 - 06:15
I am switching from DirecTV to Comcast and TiVo. One thing I have noticed is that the options for setting season passes do not seem to work well. On most shows, I only want to record New episodes and not reruns. This works fantastic on DirecTV's DRVs but not so much on TiVo's. I have read through several threads on here related to specific shows but just curious why TiVo has such a tough time with this when DirecTV seems to have it nailed?

Tivo Premiere - before I buy Moca's

Wed, 02/06/2013 - 00:42
I have two Premiere's and both are very good at streaming from YouTube (HD files), Netflix, Hulu+ but I cannot multi-stream without almost immediate video stutter.

The network is wireless-G using four (4) Linksys routers three have DDWRT and are in bridge mode - each Tivo has its on bridge. The main router is standard Linksys GUI connected to a SB5101 cable modem. The house is a 1965 sf two-story.

I understand that some folks have had success with multi-streaming wireless to their Tivo's and since I have great success with watching streaming tv and movies I thought maybe I don't have something configured in the wireless.

If I go the Moca route - it's going to cost about $228 just for the Moca's - I need 3 so I might as well get a 4th and use it or sell it on ebay.

I'd appreciate any feedback here.

Thank you in advance.

Moving between show details with channel up/down

Wed, 02/06/2013 - 00:24
Hello all!

Is there a way on the Premier when viewing a recorded shows details to move to the next or previous show? On my TivoHD, I could use the Channel Up/Down buttons to move between shows within the same group?

Thanks!

Dan

The Taste "Comfort Food " OAD 2/5/13

Tue, 02/05/2013 - 23:56
I think I'm out.. Seemed like 30 minute show stretched out over an hour.

Too much "We're tasting it blind" "We could send one of our own chefs home", and with the fake drama.

Shows in Wishlist recorded and immediately deleted?! Help!

Tue, 02/05/2013 - 23:12
Sigh, this one's got me vexed.

Tivo Premiere DVR, totally empty of any programs (no suggested, no recordings, no nothing). Wishlist items programmed, set to record, no conflicts, delete when space needed, save up to 5 episodes. The show comes on, the Tivo records it, then immediately deletes it (even gone from recently deleted) and reason listed in History is "space needed". There's nothing recorded, please help!

Smash "On Broadway"/"The Fallout" (S02E01 and S02E02, 2/5/2013) - Spoilers

Tue, 02/05/2013 - 22:37
Ok, the spoiler thread. I previously discussed the first of the two episodes in another thread, when it was posted to the internet, but some probably waited until it hit the air.

During the scene with Karen listening in on Jimmy playing and singing in the bar, the only thing I kept thinking was: "Chuck? Chuck? It's Marvin... your cousin, Marvin BERRY... You know that new sound you were looking for? Well listen to THIS!!!" :D

I think I liked the first episode better than the second, and I'm not sure why. I think maybe because the whole first episode seemed a little more grounded. I had trouble believing the second episode, and it didn't help that they decided to include a fantasy musical number. (the Eurythmics "Would I Lie To You?") That, plus them crashing (and being allowed to crash) the Wing's gala seemed to stretch incredulity.

I think, at least for me, I would prefer if they wouldn't try and force musical numbers into this show. This show isn't Glee. This show actually has a decent dramatic storyline in addition to the music. I'd prefer if the music comes when it fits in naturally, and if that means less music on this show, I'm OK with that. It makes when they can feature it that much more special. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that's the way this show is going.

I'm not sure what to think of Jimmy. There's something rather offputting about the way the actor is performing the character. I'm not sure if I can describe it well enough. I think it may be that he doesn't come across quite natural enough. He seems a little stiff. And frankly, in those moments where he wasn't mad at Karen, where he was supposed to be flirting with her, I actually think there was *anti*-chemistry, like he was sucking the chemistry away from the other characters in the scene. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

The song of Jimmy's that Karen sang was actually rather good... but then the clip of the song that Karen and Derek listened to was, frankly, rather cringe-worthy. The show's musical writers need to try harder if they want me to believe this is the next Rent, because although he sang the hell out of it. the "Broadway Here I Come" song wasn't very good either.

resolving conflicts

Tue, 02/05/2013 - 19:33
I've had this Premier, using HD, for six months - this is my first time with old shows and news shows overlapping and conflicting. (Comcast cable, if that makes a difference.)

Is there a way to see all my Season Passes in a calendar-type spreadsheet so that I can see and rearrange, say, the Mondays at 10 PM conflicts/overlaps? A way to sort the Season Passes by day and time?

And do I have to actively look at History or ToDo to see conflicts? I don't get any notifications?

And, if I try to re-Season Pass a program that plays again say at 2 AM, TiVo doesn't accept that as the Season Pass, reverts to the prime time. Help with that?

And, sometimes the same program is playing on several channels but only once in creating a Season Pass was I able to select a different channel.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome

Tue, 02/05/2013 - 12:17
Not exactly a season pass, but the TiVo guide data (both on my device and on the web site) shows the premiere time as 9:00 pm E/P on Sunday. The SyFy web site shows 8:00 pm, and so does Zap2It. I'm guessing it's the TiVo data that's in error.

Tivo Nightmare!

Tue, 02/05/2013 - 10:18
I was at my stepfather's house to watch the Super Bowl, he had just replaced his original S3 with a premiere, because the S3 was having issues. We were watching the Sandy Hook kids sing "America the Beautiful" and the picture was was breaking up slightly. I figured it was a problem with his cable.

Then the Tivo reboots -- "Uh-oh-- well it should be back before we miss too much of the game"

And then . . . . .
GREEN SCREEN -- "Tivo has detected a serious problem which may take 3 hours to repair"!! AAAARRRGHHH!!

Fortunately we ran to the local Home Depot, snagged a digital antenna and swapped the TV over to that. As the Premiere is still relatively new (even if it is a refurb) I told him to to contact Tivo and have then send him another one.

How I Met Your Mother - P.S. I Love You - OAD 02/04/13

Tue, 02/05/2013 - 08:42
Summary: Filler

Nothing of importance in this episode. I don't think I even laughed once. Normally, I see posts about how awful recent episodes are and I think that they really aren't that bad. This one certainly was. The Barney storyline of going to Canada to interview boyfriends was way out of character. The stalker thing was ridiculous. The whole episode was abysmal, in my opinion.

Show us the mother already and lets get on with romancing her until the series finale. Stop with the filler episodes already.... sigh.

Why does TiVO make is so hard?

Tue, 02/05/2013 - 07:27
I have 2X TivoHD's and 1 X Premiere (dual-tuner). I have a yearly deal on the premiere and one of the Tivo HD's. I keep calling to upgrade the yearly TiVoHD to a 4-tuner and they have no deals for me. Not even that, if I want to change out my hardware they want me to cancel my yearly tivohd and purchase a new premiere and new service. I thought phone company upgrades were hard.. Why does TiVO make it so hard for me to give them more $$? I want to keep my service, I want to pay for a new box. But you make it so hard...
