What happens if you add duplicates on SPs - is it smart enough to only record it once - or does it record two?
I used code 0238 to program my Tivo remote for Westinghouse CW50T9XW 50-inch LCD HDTV (on sale last Black Friday).
The good news is the remote works for all the buttons that should work: power, volume, mute, etc.
The bad news is some buttons on remote have "dual-action" on Tivo and on the TV.
For example, FF starts fast forward in Tivo, but also kicks TV into setup. Number "2" works for the Tivo as intended, but also drops me into input selection on the TV. 30-second skip button toggles through screen fit modes on the TV (Standard/Fill/Overscan).
I found a few references to this, e.g. www fixya com support t15315354-westinghouse_tv_goes_setup_when_tivo but suggestions there did not work.
I would prefer to continue using the Tivo remote. Is it possible without the "side effects"?
Since the upgrade a few months ago the Suggestion Folder that used to be at the bottom of the listings above the "Recently Deleted" has disappeared.
The suggested programs have not though, but they can only be found by "un-grouping" the list.
Will there be a fix for this soon???
I own two Tivo 45 hr Premiere 2 tuners. I upgraded the hard drive of my first Premiere purchased in May 2010 to expand my recording capacity. My second Tivo Premiere I purchased in April 2012 and I have not upgraded.
The problem I experienced recently is using Netflix streaming on my May 2010 Premiere. Netflix seems to stutter at times and audio and video cut out periodically throughout a 1 hr show. If I stream from my April 2012 Premiere, I experience none of these issues. Both are hard-wired with gig Ethernet.
That brings me to my question: is there a hardware difference in Premieres manufactured about 2 years apart? In general, the newer Premiere seems zippier using menus, etc.
Archer premieres Jan 17 at 10p only on FX.
I don't need help, but thought I'd post this so that anyone facing this issue in the future can find my solution easily.
I have had a TiVo HD out in our pool house for several years. When we built the house we had structured wiring put in, but something is wrong with the ethernet cable out to the pool house over its buried run of more than 100 feet. So this TiVo has been hooked though phone line only.
Due either to the length of the run or something also wrong with the buried coax, I had to install a cable amp just on this run several years ago, otherwise the signal is too weak for the TiVo to tune it. The amp has worked perfectly.
I recently decided to try to get this TiVo connected to the network. A wireless N adapter didn't work - idevices pick up WiFi signal out there but it must be too weak to get a consistent signal. Then I found out about MoCa, which had escaped me all these years - and I have a Fios router, so it is already enabled at the head end.
Unfortunatly MoCa signals won't pass through a cable amp. Through lots of googling I found the solution. Buy two satellite TV "diplexers" - they look like splitters but instead of splitting the entire stream they divide it by frequency - and three short lengths of coax. The "antenna" output goes to and through the amp, then back in to the antenna hookup on the second diplexer. The "satellite" output goes directly to the "satellite" input of the second diplexer.
Voila, the cable signal goes through the "antenna" path, the MoCa signals pass through the "satellite" path and the they get recombined. Add a MoCa adapter at the Tivo, and it all works perfectly. If only I'd figured this out years ago.
My wife got me to watch the 1st episode of Downton Abbey Season 3 last night (2 hr ep).
I had not watched a single episode previously, so Leigh provided the backstory for each of characters during the course of the episode. Having heard there were LOTS of characters and story lines, I was concerned I could never simply jump-into Season 3 and have half a clue.
About 1/4 way in to Episode 1, I was on board with a pretty good handle on the characters. Overall I enjoyed the episode and will probably tag along with my wife through Season 3.
I did have to ask if this was kind of like Fiddler on the Roof remake with the 3 daughters and their "papa" stuck in his tradition, not initially liking their choice of mates, but willing to bend for his daughters...
I think this show could be made PERFECT with the addition of some Ninjas, Zombies, threat of Nuclear Attack, or Jack Bauer/Chloe setting up a perimeter. ;)
I have been running three TiVo's (two premieres and a series 3) with Time Warner cable cards and tuning adapters for months....no issues.
Over the weekend I switched to Time Warner internet. Part of the promotion was that I am to receive all of the movie channels for free for three months. After the install, I made sure that all of my TiVo's could connect to the new internet...what I did not check was whether I was receiving all of my channels.
I was not.
I was not receiving all of the movie channels, just the HBO and Showtime primary channels...plus all of the other channels I was previously receiving.
After multiple calls to Time Warner, I finally got to the cable card help line and after a 45 minute wait and a lot of troubleshooting; we got the master bedroom and the guest room working properly. After multiple attempts, resending the signal several times, I never got to the point where I was receiving all of my channels, and we finally stopped when I was receiving only two of my local network channels (Fox and NBC) and the primary HBO and Showtime. We stopped and agreed to an onsite technical visit.
The technician with whom I was speaking did suggest that if I did not want to wait for my appointment, that I could try going to my local Time Warner office to simply swap out the tuning adapter, since he believed this to be the problem. My appointment is for tomorrow, so I decided I could wait.
In the interim, I decide to do some of my own troubleshooting, so I swapped out the tuning adapter in the guest room (which was receiving all of my channels) with the one in the living room. Same problem with the new tuning adapter.
The only change that was made to the living room set up during the internet install was the installation of a cable splitter, so that I could have one feed going to my router and the other to my TiVo. We also rearranged the living room furniture, so that I was now plugged in to a different cable outlet.
Has anyone seen the use of a cable splitter as the cause of a problem with channel reception?
It does not seem the tuning adapter to be the problem...troubleshooting with the Time Warner tech did not seem to reveal a cable card issue....
Is the splitter causing the problem? Could switching cable outlets have created a problem?
Any thought on this?
About 10 days ago we started getting constant crashes with Hulu Plus. The error screen reads 'The requested application is currently unavailable (V301).'
This can happen when starting the app or when searching. Really frustrating. Anyone else been having this problem?
And we're off yet again. I like having the kids in the mix. Cant believe that one girl just walked off the show. Seems like Jillian should have done more to try to get her to stay but Jillian seems to have a "I dont give a crap" attitude this time around.. maybe Im just reading in to it...
How I wish that this title was true......
I hate to disappoint anyone going to ces 2013 but TiVo will once again be absent from the show floor as they were the last two years I can confirm. I attended the 2010, 2011, 2012 shows and being a big TiVo fan and owner since 2005 I have looked for them every year. The last 2 yrs I found them....well sort of, you see above one of the massiv halls is a corridors of meeting rooms. In the directory I found the listing..north hall meeting rooms. Which are very hard to find once up there (and I went during the day) you feel like your walking in a area your not supposed to be In. Little to no signs almost no people, very quiet. And when I finally found the room I was small and there was nobody there, no booth , no display, What the hell TiVo? 2 years in a row this same thing happened. And this year....well click the link above and you will see their listed again.
LVCC, North Hall Mtg Rms - N246
So if I even waste my time a 3rd time out of morbid curiosity I will certainly snap a pic of whatever I see and post it here publicly.
I am soo thoroughly disappointed in TiVo. As first I thought it was a booth price thing. Nope. There are dozens of booths on th floor by little retailers that sell china junk you buy off fleabay! So there is no way TiVo couldn't afford to be present.
For the self proclaimed DVR leader / innovator of the world, this really is embarrassing. As of January 2012, TiVo has approximately 2.3 million subscribers in the United States. So there monthly revenue is about 20 million dollars! Monthly!! I'm just sayin.
Hi all. Hopefully someone can help me with this - I'm getting very frustrated!
I am experimenting with transferring some recordings from my Series 4 Tivo to my Windows 7 PC via Tivo Desktop. These are mostly HD recordings about 6-7 gigs in size being transferred using the "fastest method" transfer option. Everything looks and sounds fine when I play back on the PC via Windows Media.
Then I am using VideoReDo TV Suite 4 (trial version w/key) to edit out commercials etc. I am saving the edited video as an mpeg, and I am using the "Auto" setting for the audio. This is for playback on my PS3.
The audio on the edited mpeg sounds fine for the most part, but about halfway through playback, the audio starts dropping out intermittently for long periods of time. I've tried re-transferring and re-editing the file several times, but I get similar results. On a couple of attempts, the video was actually truncated from 52 minutes to about 35 minutes.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Not sure if the problem is with VideoRedo, or if it has to do with the way I'm transferring the file from my Tivo.
I felt quite sad for Regina. Emma has the I can tell if your lying super power so she should have held more firmly to her belief, but I can see how she doesn't really trust her instincts at the moment.
Rumple has Emma set up for a favor and now whatever the consequence for using magic is.
Snow and Charming in Story Brooke are just kinda pathetic.
Also, way to give major spoilers with the previews next week ABC.
Since as of now I don't have a working TiVo hard drive, will I not be able to use one of my spare hard drives around here as a replacement?
Not sure if I posted this in the right place?
Ok, I have a R10 and HR10-250 running on a 18inch 3lnb dish. I have this dish mounted to a 4x4 post in a bad spot to mow around so I decided to relocate the dish. At the PC repair shop that I work at, I install Wildblue Internet and requires a 2inch pole that we keep on the truck so I planted a 2inch pole out of the mowing way to relocate my dish and then realized upon trying to moving the dish that the older Oval 3 lnb dishes are 1 5/8 (forgot) and will not fit a 2inch pole so I called a buddy of mine and he gave me a new slimline 5lnb NON SWM (SWM will not work with older boxes or so I assume) dish. I ran new cable and replaced the ground block and what not but can not for the life of me point this dish. This is my first one and never had an issue with the Oval dishes. I also put a cheap meter in the line that will buzz until I hook the line from the lnb side to the meters lnb side, then the meter dies (but will come back to life if I unplug the lnb wire from the meter) so at this point wasn't sure if the lnb is bad or does this meter not work with this lnb (see link for meter)
I have no plans to upgrade to HD so is this dish a pain in the rear to point and peak? Do they make an Oval 3lnb with a 2inch base? I am using my R10 box to preform the point and peak but only gives me an option for the Oval 3lnb dish, is this a problem since I am using the 5lnb dish?
I've got a Tivo Premiere. When I click on the Tivo button on my remote, it takes 5 seconds for the Tivo Home to load. When I move from Tivo Home to "My Shows", it takes 5 seconds to load that. When I click on a show, it's another 5 seconds for the show menu to pop up.
This seems much slower than my Series 3 Tivo. Is this normal behavior? I've tried to reboot the device, bu still so slow.
Some times when I want to see a podcast, I get the video but no sound. Occasionally I have been able to go back and play another regular program for a moment and then return to the podcast and get the sound. When I look at the Texilla podcast, the sound is extra loud or there is no sound at all. I downloaded a photography podcast yesterday and again there is no sound.
I have a premiere XL TIVO, and would really appreciate some suggestions.
