Liked the Mother scenes on their own, but they were very out of place with the rest of the episode. It almost felt like watching two different shows.
I'm curious what is going to happen between Lily and Marshall. I was very impressed with Alyson Hannigan's acting ability during the argument. She really looked upset.
The Barney stuff was interesting, sweet, ludicrous, and completely out of character at different times. I do like that they finally answered the question of what he does for a living and how it tied into his back story.
Well after a lot of trial and error, I finally managed to come up with a way to expand a premiere drive up to 4TB. This was the result.
I was able to keep all my recorded shows. It took me about 2 days to accomplish this. I will do my best to outline the procedure as soon as I get it written up. It is not for the faint of heart and does require some technical know how. While doing this procedure, I moved the OS to approximately the center of the 4TB drive and 4k aligned the image. It probably was not necessary but I figured if I am maxing out my premiere I want to try to reduce seek times as much as possible. It also requires you to coalesce some partitions and have an extra 2TB drive. Once I feel the write up has the detail needed, I will post it here.
Frustrating. Every time my wife and I go to look for a movie to watch on Netflix via Roamio. It seems like a terrible user interface. Am I missing something, or is this the general consensus?
And the addition of profiles... actually terrible! It was better off when it just went to the main profile and had no other option. I could set it for Kids and they were fine. My wife and I could have our profile online and that was that. Now anyone can pick any profile on Tivo, and have access to any movies they want. Was anyone thinking when they added profile support? Why the heck isn't NetFlix providing PIN access to each profile and Tivo supporting it in the app?
Am I missing something or is it just this bad?
Are the 4-tuner Premiers (XL4, Premier4) more sluggish with regard to the User Interface (menu navigation, option selection, etc.) than the 2-tuner Premiers?
Currently I have 3 2-tuner Premiers in service, month-to-month, MSD, etc.
I found Open Box at a local Best Buy both a XL4 and a Premier4. I went ahead and grabbed them as the pricing was really good.
My plan was to retire the 3 2-tuner Premiers, and place into service both the 4-tuner Premiers, plus a Tivo Mini.
However, I'm now concerned that the 4-tuner Premiers will be disappointingly sluggish in the UI. My 3 2-tuner Premiers are sometimes a bit laggy and sluggish (using the HD menus) but overall I've been satisfied.
I don't want to fully commit to the 4-tuner Premiers only to find out they are more laggy/sluggish than what I've accepted with the 2-tuner units.
Thanks for any observations/advice.
We are switching TV service from our local cable company to either Dish or UVerse. I currently own a TiVo Series 2 DVR with lifetime membership that we bought many many years ago. I have a few programs recorded of my son on TV that I REALLY need to keep! With Dish or UVerse I'm told I am getting their own DVRs for my TVs. Can I still plug in my TiVo whenever I want to watch these shows about my son? Is there a way to get these shows transferred to my computer, and how?? I only have 2 days to do this as they will be coming to install the new service then!! Please can someone help me figure out how to either keep using my TiVo when I want, or get the saved programs onto my computer?! Thank you!! (P.S. I am not very tech savvy, so please explain simply) :-)
I've been using TiVo Stream for about 3 months. Works great streaming to my iPad WITHIN my home and also works great downloading recorded shows for airplane travel.
Streaming away from my home network is a whole different story. I've yet to have a great experience with it. Most of the time the picture just freezes and / or won't play at all.
Anybody else having any particular good or bad experienced steaming away from your home network?
It's also incredibly disappointing that I'm not able to stream to a PC or MAC using a Web Browser.
I welcome any thoughts and/or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
This is one day early, but wanted to give a heads up on something in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly:
"Set the DVR to run long. You don't want to miss the show's last 30 seconds."
This will be the final episode until April.
As requested, at last, a thread where the episode can be discussed!
Have at it...
This may be a bit soon, but FOX is going to return 24 for a 12 episode run. This will be May 5th, 2014.
When will android users get the stream feature?
I want to record the full season 6 of sons of anarcy when it re airs at some point. What's my best way to do that? Keyword wishlist?
OK, it seems that those few of us still watching this show are too timid to start a new episode each week, yet people still keep discussing it in the older episode threads. So here is the place to discuss the rest of S2.
Everything that happened up through Mi Dos Padres (OAD 1/15/2014) is fair game right now. And as additional episodes air, those can be discussed as well.
My thoughts: I'm very intrigued by what's going on with Aaron, Grace, and Priscilla. I definitely want to see where that goes.
The stuff with Monroe and his son is boring, but hopefully now that they've escaped, that will change. I found it odd that the Mexican cartel boss saw them escaping but then didn't chase them or send any henchmen after them. I guess once Monroe, Miles and crew defeated all the henchmen in that fight, that gave them free passage to leave?
Still don't care about Tom and Julia, but I am intrigued about what the "Patriots" seem to be doing, so the tie between the new government in D.C. and what's going on in Willoughby is still somewhat interesting.
And let me say again: I'm glad the story from S1 about turning the power back on is over. That was week after week of stupidity. Now we just get to see a world where power is off the table and that makes for a better show, IMO.
Did anyone find it strange how many current/past pop culture references there were in the most recent episode. Given that this show takes place at least 15 years in the future, and none of that pop-culture stuff has been present in the world during the interim, it seemed very strange for people to be using those references. I wish someone would have hung a lantern on it by saying something like, "Nice timely reference there, Father Time."
WOW, so far a great new season. There were two scenes where I had a real good laugh. The first was when the Dr. tells Veronica she having triplets making a total of 4 children she and Kevin will have to take care of. And the bar is not as profitable as he thought it was.
The second LOL scene for me was when Lip offered himself for sex to a girl from his neighborhood and she majorly turned him down. So then he had sex with the chubby girl and her breasts were hitting him in the face. Priceless!!!
Note to Fiona: DO NOT SCREW UP your new relationship!! You now have a good paying job with health benefits for you AND your family. You're a natural salesperson and could do really well. So put up with you boss/boyfriend's idiosyncrasies and try to have a more normal life!
Note to Debbie: BE CAREFULL of what you're getting yourself into. You may be moving too fast!! (I'm surprised her "boyfriend" didn't freak out when she told him she was only 13. Depending on what happens next he could be committing statutory rape!)
My Premiere XL has the latest Netflix (HTML5 with support for profiles). I'm able to browse through titles, but when I select a title to play, it starts to load and then fails with the error message "We're having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again later or select a different title. aip-701"
This has been going of for a couple of weeks. I've tried rebooting. I've tried signing out of Netflix and signing back on. I've tried using a friend's Netflix account. I've rebooted my router. I've tried connecting the TiVo directly to my cable modem. I've tried using a different ISP. Nothing has worked so far. I've called TiVo Support and Netflix Support, and neither could help. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I think its kinda odd Tivo doesnt do this? Why cant i stream live between 2 tivos?
Just curious what a fair price is for a roamio 6 tuner at @ 150 hours. And a mini. The roamio is under contract if that effects the price?

Why do we need to pay $130 to stream our shows? Is this just another money making gimmick like the "Home Media Option" for $99? in other words, why do we need to purchase what in essence is an overpriced "dongle" that tells the Tivo its okay to stream its shows? Why couldn't they just enable this feature in a software update like they did with the roamio plus? Its because they like to nickel and dime you to death. "Oh, you need to buy a 'license' to use this feature," and "You need to subscribe to the 'service' for your DVR to work." Believe me people, as much as I LOVE the TiVo interface, Im not stupid. The hardware is capible of doing this all on its own. Today, its a hardware dongle to "enable streaming" But tomorrow, its going to be something else. Maybe they will take away outputs for normal TV's, leaving only HDMI for the rich people and make us normal folks buy "adapters" to hook up the new units. So once again, anybody at TiVo wanna share what the scheme is this time?
Can I use JMFS to Copy/Expand/Supersize my stock 2TB Premiere XL4 drive to a new larger 4TB drive (WD AV-GP WD40EURX), or is there some sort of 3TB limit for DIY upgrades (despite Weaknees selling their own 4TB single-drive upgrade)?
Note that Premiere XL4 is running OS 20.3.8.
I've disconnected my Wifi router while I work out computer issues.
Last night, I started transferring shows from the main TiVo to bedroom TiVo, and then I remembered I had WiFi disconnected. It transferred 5 shows anyway.
My main TiVo shows that it is connected to Wifi with an excellent signal. How can that be when the Router is not plugged in to my Brighthouse box, only to power?
When I unplug power to the router, wifi is gone.
My iPad doesn't get WiFi while router disconnected. And Tivo doesn't update while Router down.
I guess I don't understand WiFi at all.
Please, can someone splain to me?
