Just heard about this CSpire initiative to bring Gigabit fiber to the home. I really want to know if CSpire will be able to support TiVo's and cablecards. I've asked CSpire and am waiting to see if they'll answer. But I thought I'd ask here in case someone has already gotten an answer.
Fiber at 1Gbps up and down with television/TiVo support would rock!
The other night I was trying to stream a show to the Bedroom Roamio and I kept getting an error that said that "This Tivo must be on the same account". I though this message was a little odd since it worked the day before without any glitches. So I logged in to my Tivo account and notice that one of the check boxes was unchecked for "Sharing Video". So I checked the box and saved the setting and did a force check in for the Tivo having the problem. I notice on the Settings page that the Tivo To Go setting was i,i,i,i and after the force check in the Tivo To Go setting changed to a,a,a,i. This was different then my Other Tivo Roamio which was set for a,a,a,a.
I have tried multiple force connections and I still have the settings of a,a,a,i. What does this mean? I can transfer video back and forth from both devices but I can not stream from the Bedroom Tivo. I can however stream from the Living Room Tivo just fine. I have tried rebooting the Bedroom unit twice and still can only transfer. I have even gone back and toggled the settings in my tivo account for "shared video". I am more curious as to why the setting was unchecked in the first place.
If you look at the help page for Tivo it only shows the settings for Tivo To Go as a,a,a but I have a,a,a,i on one and a,a,a,a on the other? Is the Tivo support page wrong here? Has anybody else ran into this problem?
I found in the last 48 hours Time Warner in NYC has set CCI protection byte for broadcast channels(CBS, NBC, ABC).
So, I've lost the ability to download shows to my ipad, which I use traveling.
Clearly calling Time Warner's customer service number is getting me nowhere.
This was funny! I was very pleasantly surprised. Only recorded because I typically try to watch all new sitcoms, and honestly, I didn't have high hopes, nor did I really care. Just didn't sound that appealing. And the reviews were mixed.
And this is why we actually WATCH THEM. I thought this was funny, and for a pilot, surprisingly well-fleshed out. First off, the actors are great. Between Malin Ackerman, Bradley Whitford, Marcia Gay Harden and others, they have an amazingly deep cast. Both Whitford and Harden could do this in their sleep, yet they really seemed to bring their A game (ok, no more cliches).
It was funny, had a catchy plot, no characters you immediately hate or think "miscast", but mainly, kept me laughing and entertained the entire time.
If I had a single complaint, it would be the sheer number of characters we had to meet. But any sitcom pilot faces this, and I'm sure within a couple of eps, they'll be family.
Again, as with many sitcom pilots, the first five minutes have some cringe and you want to delete it right then. But unlike most pilots, where it takes an episode or two before the fun overcomes the cringe, within minutes I was liking this.
I have no idea what the buzz is, or if anyone watched. It may be doomed from the start. But I liked it.
Anyone using one of these sling box models with Roamio? I have read the 500 HDMI passthrough may not work due to HDCP, so it looks like the cheaper 350 may suffice.
Does anyone know if there are confirmed plans to provide access to Roamio over browser so I could watch without a Slingbox on my PC?
With IPTV becoming the standard (twc supposedly rolling out next year) has anyone heard anything about an IPTV TiVo?
I was surprised two days later, no thread.
I watched this last night I have to say, I enjoyed it. There was plenty of suspense and not much info given for the reasons, other than one of the President's cabinet members appears to be behind it. A lot more to find out.
The only thing I didn't like all that much was how they portrayed the hubby and the two kids. Too predictable that they were all going to be troubled.
The hubby....as soon as he said he had to go coach Lacrosse, I said, he's having an affair (of course he goes and DOES coach lacrosse, but I was right anyway!!)
The son...seriously, a drug dealer? He couldn't be a normal kid? I know this is probably a setup for the drug supplier he owes money to to show up at the door.
The daughter..It's become so cliche these days that EVERY teenage girl has to get pregnant. Oh well. We'll see if they hold the hostages long enough that the baby comes into play.
Hopefully this doesn't go completely off the rails like most of these series do.
I have two base Roamios, and two Series 3 OLEDs.
The Video on Demand Season Pass automatic downloads do not work on the Roamios, but do work on the Series 3 OLEDs.
Example: Tekzilla. I've had a season pass to Tekzilla on one Series 3 for a year or two. No problems.
I migrate from a Series 3 to a base Roamio, transfer my OTA season passes and shows to the Roamio, and let them both run for a couple of days. The Roamio is working fine for the OTA shows.
I then add a season pass for the Tekzilla web show to the Roamio. A week or two later, I realize I'm not getting Tekzilla web shows. If I surf the Roamio to the Tekzilla listing, I can select a show and use Watch Now without problem. But automatic transfer via season pass or manually selecting several past episodes to be downloaded to the Roamio does not work. A few past episodes will download, then nothing more.
I tried a different base Roamio, same problem.
Each week, a Tekzilla show appears on the Series 3, but no show appears on the Roamios.
All TiVos are connected to the same netgear switch in the media center. All TiVos use the same DNS config, subnet mask and gateway. Each Tivo has a unique static IP address configured on the same subnet. All TiVos connect to the TiVo service, and Netflix and Hulu Plus without problem, so the problem must be with Roamio implementation of this function.
I get the same symptoms for a Security Now web show season pass as well.
The base Roamio software is not up to snuff.
Clay lives, (yet again!), Tig dies :(
I do NOT accept this! (Irish be DAMNED!)
Wish they would just go ahead a spin off Bobby and his nomads into it's own series and get on with that story. (seems like what is ultimately going to happen anyway)
I have been using Tivo for almost 15 years now and never saw this before. Don't even know how it is possible.
I have two Series 3 Tivos bought at the same time and both upgraded with 1TB drives. Because the CBS Sunday schedule is going to be disrupted by a fxxtball game, I decided to move a scheduled recording of the Amazing Race to the other Tivo. The episode is now and has been for several days showing in both To Do Lists.
The Episode scheduled for 8PM on 9/24 is titled, "We're Not in Oklahoma No More" and shows as Episode 2301. All that is identical in both To Do Lists but here is the mystery. On the Tivo where it was originally scheduled as a season pass the episode is one hour long. On the Tivo where I added the recording it is listed as a two hour episode.
It is the first episode of the new season and IS a two hour episode. On the Tivo where I added the recording, there are no conflicts, no clipping, no problems. Same for the season pass recording except that it is erroneously showing it as a one hour episode with no conflicts, no clipping and no problems. How is this possible?
Before submitting this, I reviewed it and noticed that my use of the word fxxtball (which I will now change to fxxtball) was converted to a link which goes to an ad. I guess that is a new annoying addition since my last visit here on July 24.
OK, I guess there is no way around it because it has now made the word mxstery a new link to a different ad.
I just moved to LA and I was planning on using OTA HD with my TiVo HD. For some reason I can't get a stable picture on any of the channels. I plugged my coaxial cable into my TV and I was getting all the normal broadcast channels in HD and extended cable in pretty horrible SD. I have TWC.
A couple questions:
- Is there any solution to record HD channels with my TiVo without installing cablecards?
- Anyone know if TWC always has free unscrambled local stations in HD or is it just a situation with my building? I don't want to set-up cable cards and have them turn off our whole building realizing the situation
-If I plug my antenna and the coaxial cable even though I don't get a good signal does that change anything?
I'm going to test it but I wanted to see if anyone has any good suggestions.
I was all set to put in TiVo today with a TiVo Mini in one room and the main unit (500GB) in the other. The main unit was to replace the old cable DVR.
The glitch was with the other room in which the Mini has no input for an optical digital cable which I need to get full surround sound from my Denon receiver. That was the killer. So the installation process was cancelled.
Later, I saw a reference on this board back in August suggesting one way around this (I think) would be to purchase a Monoprice HDMI Audio Converter. Will this work or are there other workarounds? Thanks if anyone has a solution or suggestions. --Rich
Very weird Roamio recording issue tonight with multiple recordings on the same channel.
I have the following setup as Season Passes and these were all set to record this evening. All passes are padded on the end by 2 minutes. Overlap protection is ON. When I looked at my Todo list I was wondering why Tivo wasn't listing a conflict
..but what I found was really odd:
(all program times actual guide times. 2 minutes padding added onto end in season pass settings)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Channel 806
8:30 - 9:00
Top Gear - Channel 872
9:00 - 10:00
19 Kids and Counting - Channel 867
9:00 - 9:30
New Girl - Channel 806
9:00 - 9:30
The Goldbergs - Channel 805
9:01 - 9:31
The Mindy Project - Channel 806
9:30 - 10:00
19 Kids and Counting - Channel 867
9:30 - 10:00
Trophy Wife - Channel 805
9:31 - 10:00
I only put in the Brooklyn Nine-Nine because I got a weird recording, but that doesn't really play into the recording issue.
As you can see above
..I have 4 shows recording at once in the 9-9:30 block. All would extend over by 2 minutes, so when 9:30 rolled around, The Mindy Project should have used the 5th tuner, and 19 Kids should have used the 6th tuner. Now
..when Trophy Wife started at 9:31, all 6 tuners SHOULD have been busy
..but somehow everything was recorded.
Here's what the Tivo actually recorded
.all the weirdness is with the Fox shows (Channel 806).
Brooklyn Nine-Nine shows the program recorded time of 54 minutes (in the blue program bar). However, the actual time recorded (the green play bar) was only 32 minutes (as it should have been)
Top Gear recorded fine - 1hr 2 min
Both 19 Kids and Counting recorded fine - 32 minutes each
The Goldbergs recorded fine - 32 minutes
Trophy Wife recorded fine - 31 minutes
Now the weird stuff:
New Girl shows 1 hr 23 minutes in the blue bar. Actual recording time INCLUDED Brooklyn Nine-Nine AND New Girl for a total of 1 hr
The Mindy Project shows 1 hr 53 minutes in the blue bar. Actual recording time INCLUDES Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl AND The Mindy Project for a total of 1 hr 30 min
Definitely weird stuff all going on with those back to back recordings.
Anyone seen anything like this before?
So this months bill had HD turned on for my HR10-250. After 75 minutes on the phone with D (3 departments), retention was able to remove it.
Tech support said they just rolled out new software that looks for HD receivers without service and automatically adds it. He said somewhere in their settings they had me as a Genie too. Not sure about that, I do not own one. Retention did a manual software override since tech support could not. I told them I would leave after being a customer for 15 years if they did not fix it.
I realize there is newer equipment out there, I just choose to use this unit. Any other veteran HR10-250 users getting billed for HD? My bill just came yesterday.
my cable company went to digital a few years ago now so my old tivo's were no longer any good and i have had a long run of bad luck so i have been tapped on money so could never save up enough to buy a new premiere or lifetime service but my cable company switched over from some brand of dvr to premier xl4's for under twenty bucks a month so i pulled the trigger and they will be here to install thursday afternoon and i cant wait to finally be able to record more then one show at a time and finally be able to skip over commercials again!
i hope i can temporarily hook up my old tivo and move over some shows i had recorded?
but if not im still very happy to be almost back!
Seems like the writers are having fun making jokes about themselves. Loved the comment about trying too hard to spell out S.H.I.E.L.D. There were a couple other things like that which are slipping my mind right now.
The show looks promising.
I'm seeing conflicting information on this so i'm starting a new thread. Just a question, is there anyway to get a Tivo Premiere to work with Directv? Sounds like the answer to that is no but I want to make sure.
Thanks in advance.
Man, is THIS gonna be made of awesome! Jim Steranko, the man who invented Nick Fury & SHIELD as we know them*, will be reviewing each week's episode for The Hollywood Reporter!
He's led a pretty incredible life. And he'll be the first to tell you that!
* Yes, I know, Stan Lee & Jack Kirby created both the character and the organization. But Steranko took over the book fairly early, and turned it into something cool.
