I'm considering upgrading my channel package (if only for a day or two) because Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is showing on IFC tomorrow. What I'd like to know from someone who receives the IFC channel is, des the IFC HD have a watermark/logo in the corner of the screen?
I'm noting that I'm occasionally having trouble resolving www.tivocommunity.com
. I've tracked it down to one of your domain's name servers, dns1.name-services.com. It either gives a "connection timed out; no servers could be reached" from nslookup, or otherwise gives something like this:
> server 184.108.40.206
Default server: 220.127.116.11
> set type=a
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
www.tivocommunity.com, type = A, class = IN
nameserver = ONWhPXbfMUWo.tivocommunity.com.
ttl = 0
*** Can't find www.tivocommunity.com.: No answer
I suspect that this NS record may be bogus as well since I cannot resolve it.
I have a Series 3 TiVo that I'd like to equip with a wireless N networking adapter. The TiVo branded one seems a bit pricey. Are there any alternatives?
This has probably been asked before, but I couldn't find it. Thanks for any help!
I just went to tivo.com and on the front page it says enjoy your tivo experience on another tv and it shows a remote with a tivo mini. But take a look at the remote, right above the A B C D keys there is a green button. What could it do?
Guide data showed nothing listed for ABC at 10pm it jusr jumped from 9pm to 11pm. Set it for manual record, but if you do a season pass you might want to check if it's going to record. This was for OTA for KABC channel 7 in the Los Angles area.
I'm having loads of problems with my TIVO and port 8080 and its causing the guide to not update all the channel info in the guide.
Here's what's been done so far
Tech comes out and plays with first TIVO for 3 hours finds port 8080 blocked and forwards the port still doesn't open and the TIVO service won't fully patch so after trying everything he installs a used TIVO from the main store that already had guide info on it. It connects to the TIVO network and patches successfully
but port 8080 is still blocked so I turned off the routers firewall altogether port, still closed but he says that since its connecting to the service and patching now I shouldn't have any problems.
Well now after 3 days some channels have no info in the guide again, so
I started trying to fix the problem my self. I've tried everything possible I even went as far as removing everything out of the network and connecting the MOCA straight to the modem still the port is blocked and no the modem doesn't have any firewall or anything that would block any port.
I have a Tivo premier, a Netgear Mca 1001 v2, and a Motorola sufrboard 6121
any help would be really appreciated its starting to drive me crazy and the people from Suddenlink don't seem to know CRAP about what they are doing.
Since you can see tumbleweeds blowing through the TiVo Developer Channel forums, I thought I'd ask here: what's exactly required to get SDK-developed apps up and running? I've followed the steps provided in the Developer Guide (url developer.tivo.com/docs/read/sdk/guide ) with little success getting the "Hello TiVo" app to run.
I can see the "Hello TiVo" application get retrieved fine from the FlashAppServer on my Windows 7 machine, yet when I try to run it I get V301 errors. The TiVo forums seem to suggest I might need to get a developer flag set (url developer.tivo.com/forum/read/157875 ) which hopefully will happen soon? I registered my TSN days ago (even though my model - Premiere XL, was the only Series 4 model not available in the drop-down) and have connected to the TiVo service many times since then.
Does anybody have any advice or know who I can contact to get my system up and running?
Thanks in advance!
Just found this article. Not sure what to make out of it. Here's a small part of it:
TiVo (Nasdaq: TIVO) has developed a "transportable digital video recorder" which would allow viewers to download content to a mobile device using a docking station, USB or Firewire connections, according to a patent application published late last month.
The invention provides a transportable digital video recorder system. The invention gives a user the ability to record and play back TV broadcast programs and digital video using a compact portable small form factor transportable digital video recorder package. In addition, the invention allows the user to store selected television broadcast programs while the user is simultaneously watching or reviewing another program," TiVo states in the patent application.http://www.fiercecable.com/story/tiv...dvr/2013-07-12
My main TivoHD is month-to-month, has a 1TB WD expander attached, but is full to the brim with my OTA shows.
I'd like to transfer all the shows to another, lifetime, TivoHD (upgraded to 2TB) via both connected to a switch via Ethernet.
Is simply queuing up one show after another the only way?
I've transferred shows via Wi-Fi before and that took...a while.
What happens when tornados and sharks combine? TV movie magic! American Pie actress Tara Reid and Beverly Hills, 90210 star Ian Ziering star in the over-the-top new cable TV movie, Sharknado, that looks so bad, it just might be amazing!
In the Anthony C. Ferrante-directed film, a powerful storm drives all the sharks into the path of a deadly tornado that then makes them "rain down" over L.A. "The tornado is heading towards the airport," a frightened Reid, 37, says in the trailer. "We need to destroy it before it gets to it!"
I can't be the only person who Tivo'd this masterpiece on SyFy. I'll probably watch it on Saturday when I can fully appreciate its greatness. If it's anything like Sharktopus or Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus it'll be soooo bad it's bad, but fun.
So I was just sitting in my den in the midst of a thunderstorm watching TiVo with my TiVo remote in my hand like I usually do. A particularly loud and close boom just occurred. My immediate reaction was to hit the 7 second rewind button so I could catch the flash of lightning to compute how far away the strike was!
Has anything like this ever happened to anybody else while watching TiVo?
i know there are many MANY places that discuss how to use winMFS to clone the tivo hd harddrive, and i've watched 2 youtube videos that pretty much walk you through it. the thing is, all the descriptions i've seen use a desktop, which i don't have.
i'm not a techie (more of a dangerous novice), but from what i can tell you need 2 sata adapters and both drives plugged in simultaneously to do a full clone (and keep the programs) using mfscopy.
the harddrive i'm planning on buying is this one from amazon.com, which people confirm worked for their tivo hd.
WD AV-GP 1 TB AV Video Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, SATA III, 64 MB Cache - WD10EURX
1) am i correct in assuming i need 2 adapters?
2) do i need the "double usb" adapters for extra power, or would a "single usb" adapter work?
3) my lenovo has 3 usb's on 1 side, and 1 usb on the other. if i need 2 "double usb" adapters, i'm gonna have a problem. could i get away with the "double usb" for the 1TB drive (runs 7200rpm), and a "single usb" for the original tivo hd drive?
4) all things being equal, i'd rather not spend a ton of money on these adapters (although they're nice to have for emergencies, i'm not sure when i'd use one again-- let alone 2). can i get away with the cheap ones under $8 or do i really need to fork out $20+ times two?
those are my big questions. given the fount of knowledge out here, i'm open to adapter recommendations (or any pitfalls i'm missing) too! :)

I've noticed a strange problem; many times when I go to transfer a show from my TiVo (HD) to my TiVo (Premiere), it will say that that show is already transferring when I know it cannot be transferring. I saw it just now with a show that recorded last night, and I haven't transferred any shows from the Premiere to the HD in weeks.
I can always choose "Stop Transfer", then I can transfer the show, but I don't understand why the HD so often thinks it's transferring a show when it's not. This never seems to happen the other way around, as my daughter transfers shows from the HD to the Premiere frequently, and she's never told me that she can't start the transfer.
The shows I usually transfer are shows no one else in my house watches, and my daughter is old enough to use the remote responsibly.
It's a minor annoyance, but I know it shouldn't be happening, so I find myself wanting to fix it or at least narrow down the issue that's causing this problem.
So, any ideas? Anyone else seeing this?
That happened. :)
I was hoping for a little more fireworks, but I will take stunned silence.
New show on Netflix, produced by Jenji Kohan (of weeds fame) about a woman in prison. Sounds interesting, and we were huge Weeds fans.
S1 in full on Netflix, just started E01. Anyone else watching?
Had a wired setup to both my Series 2 boxes for a few years now and suddenly last night I lost half my network.
After testing the ethernet wires I traced it down to my living room Series 2 DT and as soon as I would plug the ethernet into the tivo my switch would lose connection and knock out my network.
I've got it working on wireless right now albeit slow as piss but it's working. The tivo reports no ethernet cable when i plug it in but the cable is perfect on my tester.
Dead network jack?
I have a Premiere XL attached to a Pioner SC-05 receiver via HDMI, and that is connected to a Pioneer 5010-FD Plasma with HDMI. Been running fine since the Premiere released.
Lately sporadically if I FFWD to catch up to live and let it go, when the video starts playing the audio is not there. I have to pause, then play to get it back. Sometimes after pausing and playing I'm also losing sound and have to do it again to get it back.
Anyone have this issue? I feel like I had it on an old receiver and then I got the new one and it stopped. Now it is happening again.
OK, I guess you gotta be as old as me to remember watching Tom Terrific on Captain Kangaroo. I do.
I really, really, liked it and I'm sure I saw every minute of it.
I was thinking that it was pretty primitive 2D animation.
Look! It was!
What always amazes me is how slow-moving TV was in our day. The title sequence alone would have today's kids changing channels.
This is why I almost get epileptic when I see just a minute of what's on the Disney channel.
