I've seen other posts but I still need explanation. I had an LCD TV connected to my Premier Tivo with an HDMI cable and the beeps/boops worked great. Last night I bought a new LED TV, also hooked up with the same HDMI cable and now I don't hear any Beeps/Boops - however they DO work when going into the setup menus (the old non-HD menus). They don't make sound for fast forward, or my shows etc, but the old menus like settings etc DO make the sounds. I'm a bit confused as to why, and is there anyways to fix this. I, unlike a lot of people, like the sounds!
So I spoke with Tivo this week, want to try to remove some units, I have 5 at the moment, Margaret gave me the option of adding lifetime to all of my Series 3 units, HD included. If I add lifetime to these units I am trying to figure out if I should just update the S3 to an HD on the account and then add the lifetime, or keep the S3 and add the lifetime, what would be worth more money for resale?
My overall goal is to sell off the lifetime units to get a a P4 or an XL4.
Thanks guys and gals ;)
Anyone still watching?
We watched the entire 8 previous seasons this past summer. We finished up mid August, so at least we did not have to wait long for the season premiere.
I'm really not sure yet how I felt about the episode.
But I noticed a few familiar faces in the new interns - Smash from Friday Night Lights, and the friend from Big Love (I don't know any of their names). I'm assuming they will be regulars. They lost a lot of cast, so they'll need some new regulars.
I currently have an S2, S3 & 2 dual tuner TiVo Premieres. Comcast has been playing games with me for the cable cards & I'm tired of their fees so I am anxiously awaiting for the TiVo "mini" to come out. Therefore, I can hopefully dump/sell all my current TiVos and then simply get a Premiere 4 or XL4 along with several "minis". All of the equipment will then be running off one single M cable card.
Therefore, I don't have to worry about all these extra "outlet fees" Comcast has been throwing on me. Not to mention how I will then hopefully also get OnDemand at some point on at least the main Premiere. At which point I can also truly be able to dump ALL Comcrap related hardware.
I see how the TiVo "stream" finally got released. Any word on when the "mini" might get released here? I'm hoping before Xmas & maybe even before Thanksgiving, but is that being too optimistic?
some videos i transfer from the laptop to the tivo take hours..no idea why..some take minutes only
anyway, just wondering is the hard drive on my laptop the bottleneck as to why the vid doesnt transcode faster? if so then i'm assuming an SSD would make a measureable improvement toward faster conversion?
i was thinking of putting an SSD in the CD bay using a converter and leaving in the orginal HD for standard storage needs. (i know SSD is dropping in price so i dont need the full 320 drive in my laptop 'replaced'
I have an old series 2 (regular old Tivo, not a Direct TV box). I long ago changed out the fans (which were ridiculously loud) and installed a larger HD. As noted, this was a long time ago, and I don't recall much about details. This box is taking up space and I am directed by my wife to make it go away. My biggest 2 concerns: 1. Security: I don't want any of my personal data being misused; 2. Ensuring it gets used well. But, these are balanced with: 3. time. I don't have a lot of time to invest in this. My default option at present, for security reasons, is to pull the HD and give the rest of the gear to a local electronics recycling facility. Time is a BIG factor. And, it's quite hard for me to get to USPS during the day to ship heavy stuff, so eBay is a less attractive option, given the likely return.
I did some searching (of course) prior to posting this, but I don't have a good solution to my conundrum.
Thanks for weighing in.
Wait, don't tell me, let me guess - either:
(a) The entire rest of the season is going to be about Leslie's campaign to beat the recall vote against her, or
(b) They push the reset button by having Leslie get recalled and think up some way to get April back to Pawnee.
Within the last week or so, my Tivo Premiere has stopped recording some of my Season Pass shows. For example, this week, it hasn't recorded a single 'Daily Show' and it wasn't planning on recording the new episode of Fringe tomorrow night.
I've verified through the Season Pass manager that it's aware of the upcoming episodes and when I click 'View Upcoming Episodes', they are all listed and appear to have episode information too. But the new episodes aren't checked to be recorded.
I've gone into the 'To Do List' and for both the Daily Show and Fringe, no entries were listed for future shows. When I manually told TiVo to record them, they showed up, but not before then. I also looked at the 'Recording History', hoping it would say why The Daily Show wasn't recorded, and it wasn't listed there either. It's like TiVo just decided to ignore certain shows entirely. I have a fair number of season passes, and it seems to only be affecting the new shows for this season.
I've restarted the TiVo and gone back into the Season Pass manager and that didn't seem to make any changes.
A few other details; I have a TiVo Premiere, Series 4 with 2 tuners running version 220.127.116.11-01-2-746. As best as I can tell, the guide information is up to date and my cable provider is Comcast. Let me know if there's any other useful information I can provide.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Well, as a huge fan of the BBC's 'Sherlock' all I can say is... not bad, not bad at all. I enjoyed it and will keep my SP... although I wish CBS would learn that not every concept needs to be a procedural.
I was watching a couple of ABC shows tonight and I noticed that at the beginning on the bottom of the screen they had a bug that showed ((AD. I'm guess it's for some sound format like DolbyDigital. Anyone know what that is?
Great opening for the second season. I liked the developments concerning the machine. The menace of Root had me riveted. It was nice to see the guy that played the medium on Lost again.
And Reese got a new partner!
Can't wait for the next episode!
Ok, music first, since that's the easy one:
"Everybody Wants to Rule The World" - pretty good. A pretty straightforward performance of it. Nothing really special, nothing horrible.
"Celebrity Skin" - surprisingly, Brittany did reasonably OK at this. Granted, it isn't a style of song that requires an overwhelming amount of vocal ability.
"Change Would Do You Good" - my ears are still bleeding. This was AWFUL. They destroyed this song. Props to the show for attempting something different, [randy]but it just wasn't good, dawg.[/randy]
"The Way You Look Tonight" - ooph. SJP cannot sing. Why, why did they make her sing? Ears, commence bleeding again.
So - I'd give it a C- for songs tonight.
At least this week they were more restrained, both in the number of songs and the number of plotlines they tried to tackle, so it was a much better episode. The NYC half of the show was again for me the more interesting of the two.
This show certainly writes dumb relationships. Kurt is completely oblivious that Blaine is being Mr. Supportive, and completely misses that Blaine might want to talk about himself and his issues for a second or two. And Mr. Schu has an emotional issue, so he goes not to his fiancee, but to Sue. Once he goes to Emma, it's to inform her of what he wants to do -- and that his only concern is for his kids?? Ugh. I know, all for dramatic purposes and all, but geez. Dumb.
At least they gave Rachel a good look finally, something a little more grown up (and probably a little more Lea Michele).
I haven't enjoyed a pilot this much since 'Lost'. I definitely hope they can keep this up but I really don't see how the concept plays out as a series right now.
Andre Braugher is amazing, as always... glad to see him back and in a starring role.
I keep going back and forth from state to state. I was wondering if I could put 2 tivo boxes and leave them in the 2 states and just remove the hard drive and just travel with that? I am getting tired of the TSA stuff now
Is is so frustrating. I have the following:
TiVo premiere XML
TiVo series 2
Server running TiVo desktop
The premiere Xl can only see the HD
The HD can only see the series 2 and the server
The series 2 can see the HD and the server
All have been rebooted several times.
What the hell is going on?
Two questions: 1) is there a way to display the transfer speed in TiVo Desktop (transfer between TiVo Series 3 and Computer). Kmttg offers this function. 2) is the transfer speed faster between TiVo and computer using the premiere series than series 3? I know transfers are limited by the connection speed. I am using WD livewire which offers speeds of over 100 Mbits/sec. Thanks
I picked up a sound bar from Woot last week. A Boston acoustics, TVee model 25 soundbar and subwoofer. I have had problems with the sound in my tv for the last year...not sure if it was my hearing or the tv.
Anyway, my friend hooked it up as the manual said, and audio went into the TiVo and sound plays through it. Unfortunately, the TiVo remote does not control the volume for the sound bar. I am not sure what I need to do to get the soundbar and the TiVo remote talking to each other. The instruction manual had some directions and I followed those but no good. No remote came with the system.
Any thoughts or suggestions? I didn't know if I needed to change input or reconfigure something within the TiVo system to make it recognize the new sound system.
I thought this deserved its own thread. Hope this is here to stay. I just noticed it tonight. My iPad now works! (No space bar or backspace issues.)
Thank you TiVo.
