It seems that since the regular premier can record 2 shows on OTA or 2 shows on cable, it would suggest that each tuner is a dual-tuner. So why can't it record 4 shows, 2 OTA + 2 cable?
I doubt there is hardware limitation. Since the premier 4 can record 4 cable shows, it doesn't seem like the HDD or interface would bandwidth limited.
I wonder if Tivo would be releasing another version of premier to do what I suggested, 2+2 recording. I would think it's just a software tweak to make this happen.
I have two (2) HD XL (150hrs) Model TCD658000. I think the hard drives might be going bad. I get reboot lockups and gray screen. The capacitors look good. I copied the hard drive images a few years ago after getting the units using WinMFS.
What WD hard drives are compatible? I read warnings about WD green hard drives. All of the threads I read are a catch all and out dated.
I would like advice on what 1TB hard drives to get and will WinMFS restore the image to a new hard drive without any problems?
Tivo has some killer good deals on equipment right now.
What's going on?
Is this stuff obsolete and being cleared out for bigger and better models?
Should a prospective buyer wait and see what's down the pipe? Or take advantage of what is being offered now?
Inquiring minds want to know.
a true soap opera with all men. i'm almost caught up with this season and have no doubt that the boss is going to jail. not taking his atty's advice was just stupid
and the drama 'at home' and stuff just is over the top staged...well i hope it is. like moving in a roomie without telling the other roomie..just absurd.
i see that the CGI guy from ice road truckers found a place on this show..the scenes are comical.
dropping a wrench in the hole was a bit funny, something so simple could have cost them big money but my 1st thought was big magnet, i just didnt realize they actually had one lol. my bet it it's just for things like this and the drama was so needless
i love when the supervisor comes on site to yell at the guys. also the landowner coming to see them seems really forced and out of place. i didnt hear about any signs of litter, speeding, firing guns or anything like that other woman had a few years ago
I have 2 DTV tivos (sd), both receivers show a 96/97 strength for TP30, yet one gets breakup (live and recording) on Fox, the other does not. Other DN's record fine.
I've been messing with DTV since the initial trials in MS and LA but this old boy be lost.
(note I posted similar on DirectV forum)
Newbie to Premiere and HDUI here, with Season Pass query.
On the SDUI (well, on my TiVO HD, anyway), when you set up s season pass, there would be a screen to tell you if there were conflicts, and then tell you what wouldn't record and what would. On the HDUI on Premiere, it will tell you what conflicts there are that it will NOT record, but does NOT tell you when it record the program instead (assuming there are other showings). If you then go to the TO DO list, it will show when the program is being recorded, but am I missing something on why it doesn't show when without having to check the TO DO list? Is this a fluke in the operating system? Sorry if that sounds confusing, but it does make sense. And yes, I know if I don't like it, I can always use the SDUI.
Since activating my Comcast service in November, I have spent the past 10 weeks (ok, i took some time off during the Holidays) attempting to get an M-card for my Tivo unit in Philadelphia from Comcast.
The "customer service" agent -- i use the term loosely -- even played the S-card: saying that Hurricane Sandy had so direly affected the region that they couldn't get me a cable card... HA!
At one point i went to a suburban office (in Willow grove, 15 miles outside the city) and they said they had M-cards, but couldn't give one to me because my cable was for center-city Phila. and they weren't compatible.
OK, here is my question. If i get a cable card from this suburban office (through my employer's comcast account with the suburban Comcast) can i just take the card and then activate it from my home account, even though it is a different Comcast "region"?
thanks for any help - wish i had read this forum 2 months ago
I bought two (2) TiVo TCD658000 HD XL (150 hours HD) in 2009 and now they are both rebooting and hanging on boot up with a gray screen. I was going to upgrade to the new Premiere just to find out that TiVo no longer supports ATSC over the air. It's now cable only? I went with TiVo to get away from the cable companies! Who was the stupid idiot that decided to get in bed with the cable companies at TiVo?
Just got an email from Tivo (firstname.lastname@example.org) that seems legit, but also too good to be true.
" As a former TiVo customer, you're eligible for an exclusive offer:
For just $49 you can sign up for a special One-Time Service Extension plan and never pay another cent for TiVo service. Take advantage of this amazing, limited-time offer today!
The One-Time Service Extension plan only applies to the DVR for which it was purchased. It cannot be transferred to another DVR.
Call 1-877-367-8486 today and mention the One-Time Service Extension offer.
Thank you, and we look forward to you returning to the TiVo family."
Am I reading this right? Lifetime service for only $49? And if it is legit, how exactly does Lifetime work? What happens if the DVR needs to be replaced? What if I upgrade?
Mad Men back in 2-1/2 months.....Season 6 -- YAY
. The end is near....boo...
Great episode, as always, with entertaining writing and dialog. Although it got a little predictable. As soon as the girlfriend revealed the past cons she her husband pulled off, we knew Rayland's money was gonna be gone. Rayland sure makes dumb decisions around women.
And when Boyd's boy got bit so many times, especially on the face, I said "He's dead." When they got back to the bar with him still alive but only "almost dead" I had to amend my opinion to "the snakes have been de-venomed." Didn't take long for (someone, doc, Boyd?) to confirm that in conversation and send Boyd back to church :)
If Duffy has heard about the last time that brother Johnny was trusted to turn on Boyd, he'd just shoot Johnny now. And would anyone really believe that Johnny would blame Boyd for his current health, rather than his papa, who shot him with a shotgun in the gut from 6 inches away?
Interesting show. Kinda like the Voice but with food!
Not sure what the judges are looking for, but it seemed to me like some talented cooks/chefs are being passed up.
I wonder what the format will be later on?
Loved the fact that Ludo actually offered the one girl a job!
A totally new feature: The ability to have multiple sets of "favorites" I can switch between.
Motivation: During college football season there are games on several channels at once. It would be nice to temporarily restrict the channel set to just those channels so when a commercial comes on one game, I can channel surf to find another game that doesn't currently have a commercial running :-).
Comcast keeps adding random new channels from time to time. Mostly they are not valid for my account, but the TiVo always adds them to the channel list because they are new.
When I channel surf, I hit these new not available channels, and I'd like to remove them from the channel list.
There are a bunch of controls available from the popup menu you get when you hit "Info", but the only control I really want there is the one that says "remove this channel from my list", and that one isn't there :-(.
Instead I have to remember the channel number and go on a quest over the river and through the woods to get to the channel list and goto that channel number (if I can still remember what it was) to remove it from the list.
I can't think of any of the irritating features of the ToiVo UI that irritates me more than this one.
I might be getting a TiVo Series 2 DT from a friend. I had one in the past (but sold it) and it controlled a Comcast DTA box with the connected TiVo IR blaster. All worked good. If I get this Series 2 from the friend, it might not have the IR blaster. If so, I was wondering if I could use the IR blaster that was included with the Comcast DTA box.
It looks similar and has the same 3.5mm jack at the end. The only thing I am thinking about the Comcast DTA blaster is it seems like its an "input" (receiver) device in that it accepts a remote signal to change the channel on the DTA box. This way, you can possibly hide the DTA if needed. The TiVo blaster seems like an "output" (transmitter) only device in that it basically sends a signal to an external box based on what is coming from the TiVo.
Is this about right and the way each work? In which case, will the included Comcast IR device not work with TiVo S2 as its "blaster"?
Though I rarely post, I've been around for several years. Don't let the join date fool you, I had forgotten my user ID and password from way back and the email address that I used has long since been deleted so I had to re-register.
So my TiVo HD's (TCD652160) hard drive failed and I replaced it (perhaps temporarily) with a 250GB one that seems to be working OK. The darndest thing has happened however that occurred on the old drive and I am now seeing on the new drive. As the old one began to fail, I would get stuttering vidoe, pixelated recordings and all the usual symptoms. The other odd issue that I had is that when I went to TiVo Central, I could see (and navigate) the menu, but the background was the current channel broadcast and not the blue (I think) wallpaper.
Having replaced the drive, the pixelation and stuttering are gone but the lack of wallpaper/background persists. The TiVo, in every other way seems to be functioning perfectly normal.
I'd consider this little more than an annoyance, but it's often rather hard to read the menus. Any ideas?
