Looking for info from anyone using Playon & Playlater HD. I am trying to find a way to stream/record HD content during off hrs as my ISP slows down to an unusable speed during the afternoon/evening (6Mbps morning - 1+/-Mbps evening). It would be mostly from Hulu+ & Amazon and maybe I would try Netflix. Some questions I have:
- How well does Playon/Playlater HD work with the various streaming services (Hulu+, Amazon, Netflix, etc.) any issues? How is the quality of the recorded material compared to if you just streamed from those sites.
- Is there a way to setup up a bunch of recordings to auto stream/record or do I have to start each one individually?
- Are the recordings encrypted or can I move them to any device I want to?
- Does playlater allow skipping of commercials on sites that have them?
- The HTPC I would be using Playon/Playlater HD on has a AMD Athlon X2 255 Processor which only has a PassMark score of 1843 - the site says it needs to be 2300 or higher. I have no issues with playing HD content on this PC (it is connect to my TV and I use it for streaming now). Does using Playon/Playlater HD really require more processing power than playing other HD content (the graphic card is an ASUS Radeon R7 240 with 2GB of memory - if that matters)?
- Cost right now is $65 for lifetime Playon/Playlater HD bundle - if you paid that or more would you buy again?
- Any other info I should know?
I have cablevision/optimum online. Over the weekend, the tech was out for a cable modem issue. While he was here, I had him install the Moca POE filter outside the house before the 3-way splitter into the house.
The tech waited around to see that the Tivo and internet worked. However, I forgot to check my VPN access to work :(
Do you think the filter I have is somewhat of a dud? The cable guy that came out 2 weeks ago tested it first and told me it would block everything so he didn't install it. So he may be partially right, in that it is blocking more than it should. I had posted on this forum and someone suggested to just "test" putting the filter just before the Tivo and see what happens. Since that worked, I had the tech install it this time and told him I had just "tested" it before he came.
Help please! I need to get my VPN working. I don't have any tools so I can't easily take that filter on/off.
Tivo Series 3 with Product Lifetime Service. Includes a brand new, never used 802.11g WiFi Wireless Adapter.
The set includes the original box and all original contents (accessories, docs, packaging, etc). The S3 of course comes with the nicer backlit remote. The entire package will feel very much like new.
I'll try to get some pictures up in the next few days.
I am the first and only owner. I've never had a single problem with it.
Have feedback on other sites and forums if seeking references.

Does ESPN Full Court require a TWC cable box? Or can it be tuned with a cable card/tuning adapter?
I signed up for TWC Sports Pass which includes ESPN FC. The channels all say "Blackout" in the guide data for any game that is currently scheduled.
When I check the ESPN FC blackout map it doesn't show our area as being blacked out.
It appears that TiVo is tuning something (I don't get a "tuning adapter can't tune this station" message), its just a black screen.
I'm planning on going to TWC store today to get another CC so I'll ask about it then, but just wondering in the mean time if there is any explanation.
I'll admit I had to Google "DTF." Wow.
Are we really sposed to believe that Frank has enough Shame to avoid boinking his own daughter?
We gotta guess that the organ donation blow up when she find out he's her father.
Tol' ya that Debbie's boyfriend has good intentions.
Fiona. Fiona. Gallaghers always to screw up a good thing.
I can't get pyTivoX working again after I installed iTivo. When I double-clicked on pyTivoX to start, it started up iTivo! I deleted both iTivo and pyTivoX (after killing the pyTivoX in Activity Monitor), re-downloaded pyTivoX & placed it back under Applications (as per install instructions). Now when I double-click on it, nothing happens. Is there anything else I need to clear out or kill??? I killed a python process too, rebooted but still nothing - no screen comes up at all, but I see pyTivoX and python processes get started up in activity monitor.
kmttg appears to still be working. The order I installed things: kmttg, pyTivoX, iTivo.
Also even after I kill pyTivoX & python and reboot, a pyTivoX menu shows up immediately after reboot. The only thing I can do is Check for Updates or click About which doesn't do anything. It just tells me You're up to date!
I have Mac OS Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Okay...... time to get down to bidness
I know that some of you guys are sitting on promo codes for the "Advisory Panel" discounts on the new roamios. I am prepared to make you an offer.
My wife has her own boutique cookie business. I will send you 2 dozen Tivo cookies(with no shipping charge) in exchange for a valid discount code(see attached photo below).
Or..... I also have some series 2 tivos with lifetime subs on them that I am looking to move. You pay the shipping(approximately $30, depending on where you live) and I will give you the Series 2 at no charge in exchange for your coupon.
Any takers? :)
I am trying to figure out a way to take my recorded tivo shows on the road with me when I am in my RV.
Here are some odds and ends that might help you answer me:
I usually do not have a strong enough internet signal for streaming so the options like Tivo to Go or Romio will not be a solution for me.
I have a Series 2 TiVo
I have a Sony Blu Ray DVD player that I think has a USB input port
I have a Vizio TV that has HDMI
I have an iMac that I can move my tivo shows to and then move it to another device for transport
I do not have a laptop that I can move my Tivo shows and hook up to the Vizio TV
Could I move the TiVo shows to an external HDD and play using the blu-ray player or TV? Or is there another way that someone can recommend?
I have had TiVo Transfer working fine for a while and recently it hasn't been transferring properly. I start a transfer then it stops at a partial file.
TiVo Transfer v2.1.0
TiVo Premiere 4
Mac OS X 10.6.8
I did see a previous post about this, but it was from 2011. I have my tivo elite connected to my receiver then my tv using HDMI. I just bought a slinbox and was hoping to use the component out on the tivo to supply the picture. I'm pretty sure I'm SOL, but wanted to ask around before I give up. Is there a way to get the Tivo to output both at the same time?
I have a factory renewed Premiere XL4 (Elite) still wrapped and boxed from TiVo that I would like to sell. No service is connected to the box. Make an offer.
I am getting ready to take the plunge and upgrade from my series 3 to a Roamio.
I have been reading the specs for the three tiers - and it is not immediately obvious what the difference is between the Plus and the Pro - besides the base amount of storage.
If this is true - then I'll probably buy a Plus and simply upgrade the hard drive size myself - or buy one already upgraded (weaknees) if that seems to be more cost effective.
If this is a FAQ - it's not immediately obvious via searching this forum...
The guide data had it on at 1700 EST. It was actually episode 3. First showing of episode 4 is 2200 EST. If your SP picked up the 1700 showing, it will have to be manually scheduled.
Did pirates deals in US $ during this time? I would think the pound sterling would be the "world" currency of the day. Any history experts here.
I am occasionally noticing some very slight pixelation followed by an occasional sound 'blip'. I'm not sure if it predominately happens on one or more channels, but when I caught it happening on one of my local channels I went to the diags screen and all tuners showed mid-high signals (93-100).
How does one methodically try to figure this out. If someone can provide me with some ideas, I'd like to figure out why.
I also should mention that my SNL numbers are usually 39-40ish range, but I haven't paid as much attention to that as the signal strength. Should I?
Would a cable booster improve the issue or would it also boost any problems that might be involved?
My cable comes into my attic and splits 3 ways (1 to AV cabinet, 1 to cable modem and 1 to 4 way spitter)
The AV cabinet has a 2 way splitter, 1 to tuning adapter and 1 to Tivo.
Cable is about 5 years old but heavy duty and was used for satellite install.

Suddenly, Lost Girl is scheduled this Monday and next (1/27 and 2/2) for 10/9c and Bitten for 8/7c, reverse of what they were before. If you're only watching one of them, check for conflicts. Being Human maintains at 9/8c.
Presumably they remembered that Lost Girl historically has had more partial nudity and blurred content, though it is currently rated TV-14 while new series Bitten is TV-MA. Or they want to give freshman series Bitten a chance to have more viewership in an earlier timeslot. Personally, I think they should have waited until Being Human finished its run before introducing a new werewolf series.
This Monday's also the night The Following re-airs on Fox after it's post-game scheduling season premiere debacle. Back-to-back episodes 8/7c and 9/8c. Almost Human returns next week, 8/7c with The Following settling into the 9/8c slot.
Almost Human on Fox, then Being Human on Syfy. Hmm.
What advantages do the newer Tivo's have over the Tivo HD? I am looking form something to record HD local over the air signals. Two tuners will work fine.
My TV already has Netflix and other internet features so that is not important to me in the Tivo.
When I checked ebay it looks like Tivo Series 3 HD are a lot cheaper for a lifetime box then a premier or roamio. What would I gain with the newer boxes?
TiVo Slide Remote (old model) available through Amazon for only $229.95. Better only 3 left in stock.
I am going to suspend my directv account for 6 months and see if I can make a go of tivo.
I have a basic roamio and a mini being delivered tomorrow, but I am trying to setup all I can before they arrive.
I have been reading all I can on this site, as well as on tivo.com.
I have an attic antenna that is split to several jacks around the house. This is currently giving me crystal clear HD, better than directv.
I just used a directv cinema connection wireless device to bring internet to my tv where i plan on putting the roamio. I have two of these devices. Can I use them as moca adapters? One at the router and one at the roamio tv, or do i even need to do that, as long as i have internet using just one of the directv devices?
I am trying to get away with not buying the actiontec adapters, so can anyone tell me if my existing directv devices will work at moca adapters?
I will have a mini in another room, but I know it won't work without a moca network. I am pretty shaky on how to set that up.
Thank you so much in advance.
