Hopefully a few quick questions - but first a little context:
I'm getting a Roamio to replace my Premiere. I'll be switching my current service plan over to the Roamio, and unsubscribing the Premiere. However, I have a lot of as-yet unwatched programs on the Premiere that I'd like to transfer to the Roamio.
So the question is: Can I copy programs off an unsubscribed Premiere to a subscribed Roamio?
Follow up question: Some of the programs may be copy protected; if they can't be copied to the Roamio, will I still be able to watch them directly from the unsubscribed Premiere?
If necessary, I can take the Premiere off my home network, so it can't 'phone home' and won't know immediately that it has been unsubscribed. If I do that, can I copy programs to the Roamio by connecting the two units directly with an Ethernet cable? (And does it need to be a cross-over cable?)
Thanks for any advice anyone can give me!

I went through the process of setting up my Roamio remote to be RF, but it seems to randomly toggle between IR and RF. Sometimes I get a connection, sometimes I just sit there and press buttons to no avail. I'd like to just complely reset the remote so it starts back at "out of the box" settings and allows me to go through the RF activation again. Possible?
The cast for the new season is now announced. Looks like a few to like and quite a few to hate.
Flight Time and Big Easy
Bopper and Mark
Jen and Caroline
Dave and Connor
Margie and Luke
Natalie and Nadiya
Brendon and Rachel
Jessica and John
Cord and Jet
Joey and Meghan
Leo and Jamal
I like the globetrotters, the cowboys, and somewhat team big brother. Really have had enough of Margie and Luke. Ugg. Also really could do without afganimals and twinnies.
My area TWC provider is dropping beIN2, one of the reasons I switched to TWC in the first place. As a subscriber, do I have any recourse or ability to get this channel back? Why is TWC removing channels at all? Shouldn't they increase over time?
I'm finally making the jump to Roamio, whoopie! I currently have a S3 HD XL in my living room and an S3 HD in the bedroom. I plan on moving the HD XL to the bedroom, using the Roamio in the living room where we do the most TV watching, and selling my S3 HD.
My question is - where can I get the most for it? The good news is that I have a lifetime subscription attached to it, so I hope to get a decent amount for it. So far, I have only looked on the two places I'm most familiar with - eBay and Amazon. However, I'm seeing that an S3 HD with lifetime is fetching somewhere around $200-300, and this seems a little low to me for a unit with lifetime.
Thanks in advance!
With my TiVoHD I've left it the resolution at "native" and let my 2009 Samsung 750 deal with scaling. Which means I have to live with blankouts when going back to the TiVo menu or when changing between channels that have different resolutions.
How's the Roamio's video scaler? Should I leave things in native mode or just set fixed 1080i so as to avoid any blanking?
I'm possibly going to South Africa during the winter Olympics and don't want to miss too much action.
If a Tivo Premiere is my main box, which is the best way to access it remotely using an iPad, Tivo Stream or Slingbox?
It's likely I'll have broadband at times, but it's also possible we have some pretty old-fashioned internet connections, at least by North American standards.
There's a chance we may add a Roamio down the road sometime, but that's not absolute
Looking for info from anyone using Playon & Playlater HD. I am trying to find a way to stream/record HD content during off hrs as my ISP slows down to an unusable speed during the afternoon/evening (6Mbps morning - 1+/-Mbps evening). It would be mostly from Hulu+ & Amazon and maybe I would try Netflix. Some questions I have:
- How well does Playon/Playlater HD work with the various streaming services (Hulu+, Amazon, Netflix, etc.) any issues? How is the quality of the recorded material compared to if you just streamed from those sites.
- Is there a way to setup up a bunch of recordings to auto stream/record or do I have to start each one individually?
- Are the recordings encrypted or can I move them to any device I want to?
- Does playlater allow skipping of commercials on sites that have them?
- The HTPC I would be using Playon/Playlater HD on has a AMD Athlon X2 255 Processor which only has a PassMark score of 1843 - the site says it needs to be 2300 or higher. I have no issues with playing HD content on this PC (it is connect to my TV and I use it for streaming now). Does using Playon/Playlater HD really require more processing power than playing other HD content (the graphic card is an ASUS Radeon R7 240 with 2GB of memory - if that matters)?
- Cost right now is $65 for lifetime Playon/Playlater HD bundle - if you paid that or more would you buy again?
- Any other info I should know?
I have cablevision/optimum online. Over the weekend, the tech was out for a cable modem issue. While he was here, I had him install the Moca POE filter outside the house before the 3-way splitter into the house.
The tech waited around to see that the Tivo and internet worked. However, I forgot to check my VPN access to work :(
Do you think the filter I have is somewhat of a dud? The cable guy that came out 2 weeks ago tested it first and told me it would block everything so he didn't install it. So he may be partially right, in that it is blocking more than it should. I had posted on this forum and someone suggested to just "test" putting the filter just before the Tivo and see what happens. Since that worked, I had the tech install it this time and told him I had just "tested" it before he came.
Help please! I need to get my VPN working. I don't have any tools so I can't easily take that filter on/off.
Tivo Series 3 with Product Lifetime Service. Includes a brand new, never used 802.11g WiFi Wireless Adapter.
The set includes the original box and all original contents (accessories, docs, packaging, etc). The S3 of course comes with the nicer backlit remote. The entire package will feel very much like new.
I'll try to get some pictures up in the next few days.
I am the first and only owner. I've never had a single problem with it.
Have feedback on other sites and forums if seeking references.

Does ESPN Full Court require a TWC cable box? Or can it be tuned with a cable card/tuning adapter?
I signed up for TWC Sports Pass which includes ESPN FC. The channels all say "Blackout" in the guide data for any game that is currently scheduled.
When I check the ESPN FC blackout map it doesn't show our area as being blacked out.
It appears that TiVo is tuning something (I don't get a "tuning adapter can't tune this station" message), its just a black screen.
I'm planning on going to TWC store today to get another CC so I'll ask about it then, but just wondering in the mean time if there is any explanation.
I'll admit I had to Google "DTF." Wow.
Are we really sposed to believe that Frank has enough Shame to avoid boinking his own daughter?

I can't get pyTivoX working again after I installed iTivo. When I double-clicked on pyTivoX to start, it started up iTivo! I deleted both iTivo and pyTivoX (after killing the pyTivoX in Activity Monitor), re-downloaded pyTivoX & placed it back under Applications (as per install instructions). Now when I double-click on it, nothing happens. Is there anything else I need to clear out or kill??? I killed a python process too, rebooted but still nothing - no screen comes up at all, but I see pyTivoX and python processes get started up in activity monitor.
kmttg appears to still be working. The order I installed things: kmttg, pyTivoX, iTivo.
Also even after I kill pyTivoX & python and reboot, a pyTivoX menu shows up immediately after reboot. The only thing I can do is Check for Updates or click About which doesn't do anything. It just tells me You're up to date!
I have Mac OS Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Okay...... time to get down to bidness
I know that some of you guys are sitting on promo codes for the "Advisory Panel" discounts on the new roamios. I am prepared to make you an offer.
My wife has her own boutique cookie business. I will send you 2 dozen Tivo cookies(with no shipping charge) in exchange for a valid discount code(see attached photo below).
Or..... I also have some series 2 tivos with lifetime subs on them that I am looking to move. You pay the shipping(approximately $30, depending on where you live) and I will give you the Series 2 at no charge in exchange for your coupon.
Any takers? :)
I am trying to figure out a way to take my recorded tivo shows on the road with me when I am in my RV.
Here are some odds and ends that might help you answer me:
I usually do not have a strong enough internet signal for streaming so the options like Tivo to Go or Romio will not be a solution for me.
I have a Series 2 TiVo
I have a Sony Blu Ray DVD player that I think has a USB input port
I have a Vizio TV that has HDMI
I have an iMac that I can move my tivo shows to and then move it to another device for transport
I do not have a laptop that I can move my Tivo shows and hook up to the Vizio TV
Could I move the TiVo shows to an external HDD and play using the blu-ray player or TV? Or is there another way that someone can recommend?
I have had TiVo Transfer working fine for a while and recently it hasn't been transferring properly. I start a transfer then it stops at a partial file.
TiVo Transfer v2.1.0

I did see a previous post about this, but it was from 2011. I have my tivo elite connected to my receiver then my tv using HDMI. I just bought a slinbox and was hoping to use the component out on the tivo to supply the picture. I'm pretty sure I'm SOL, but wanted to ask around before I give up. Is there a way to get the Tivo to output both at the same time?
I have a factory renewed Premiere XL4 (Elite) still wrapped and boxed from TiVo that I would like to sell. No service is connected to the box. Make an offer.
