I just noticed that when you are recording three shows on the mother unit, you CANNOT get live TV on the Mini if on the mother unit the active tuner is not on one of the three programs recording. If you change the tuner on the mother unit onto one of the channels that is recording, then live TV is available on the Mini.
This isn't a good thing and I'm not sure why it is this way. Perhaps it is this way so two viewers, one on the mother unit, one on the Mini, don't interfere with each other, e.g., pausing, etc?
I posted this in the update topic but it's clearly going to be lost in that 22 page thread. This is not a huge issue, but it's a bit annoying. Since the most recent TiVo update I need two steps to set a recording from the guide. After the previous update, if I opened the guide, chose a program and pressed "select" the program would immediately be set to record. Now a dialog box comes up requiring confirmation to record the program (this is the way it was BEFORE the previous update). Why would TiVo go back to requiring two steps to record rather than the much simpler one step??? And is there a shortcut to reinstate the one-step record? Thanks.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO Spoilers ahead i guess......
It has happened CBS has Officially ordered spin off to How I Met Your Mother and most of you already guessed as to what it will be and you are RIGHT . HOW I MET YOUR DAD
I'm clearing out my house and have 3 old Series 2 Tivos (two are DT 649-xxxx, one the older 240-xxxx). No lifetime--all previously subscribed.
Is there any value to these on the ebay/craigslist market? Won't waste my time for only a few bucks, but if people actually can use these things, even for parts, I'll post them. Otherwise, off to electronics recycling.
Anyone ever heard of Simple.TV? They are coming out with an OTA DVR that can stream 5 channels, remotely access content, and DVR capability with full tv guide. It does not come with a hard drive so you have to factor in that additional cost.
Looks like an interesting alternative.
I skipped the last piece on instruments made of or trash in Paraguay.
Was a pretty good ep although it seemed like a positive almost fluff PR/ad piece for GoPro. I was impressed by the footage they showed though and the piece did its job: making me aware of the producct.
The Henry Grossman piece will probably have extra meaning for those who were alive during JFK's presidency and during Beatlemania (not me).
The baseball wives had to go. It was clear that they were the worst team.
I didn't like the reason the ER doctors gave for U-turning the Afghanimals. It was stupid of them to lie about it, but it's hardly grounds for U-turning them.
And Jason and Amy talked a big game, but when pushed come to shove, they chickened out and didn't U-turn Pinky and No Brain.
Talking about not having a brain, how clueless are those two? They couldn't find the tower that everybody else found right away?
Let's make a list of the Classic "Must See" episodes of the past:
I Love Lucy with the candy conveyer belt
WKRP in Cincinnatti: The Thanksgiving Episode ("I thought Turkeys could fly!"
Newhart, season finale
The Bob Newhart Show: Thanksgiving Episode (with Chinese food: Moo Goo Goo Goo)
Seinfeld: Masters of your Domain
I really enjoyed this show and my SP is set.
Wow, nice. I was not thrilled to think we'd be leaving the prison with all those unresolved issues, but this was a great episode. New locations, new people. It was nice to get away for a bit.
I thought David Morrissey did a fantastic job. I wasn't sure they could bring him back after the massacre last season but they did. It was interesting to get a perspective from a group who had been locked away and had basically no experience with walkers. I think it's unlikely that they hadn't figured out the head shot requirement by now though. You shoot something 5 times in the chest and it doesn't go down, you're definitely going to try for the head.
My two pet peeves: in what universe does he not explain everything to them immediately: especially how their father will turn when he dies? That's so dangerous! But also the way they're attracted to noise and they need to be quiet when they're walking on the road, etc. And second the way the younger woman just sort of fell over for no reason and twister her ankle. Bogus.
Just a note: I know we don't discuss it here but David Morrissey was on Talking Dead this week and it was really good; he has interesting and insightful things to say about the Governor (as I guess you'd expect). Most of the time I FF through all the conversation and just watch the special behind the scenes stuff on TD but this week I watched it all. If you get a chance you should record it.
On CableCARD-equipped TiVos before Roamio, the CableCARD pairing info was stored on the hard drive. I've always made a point of paring the M-card before making my backup. That way I didn't need to call the cableCo for a re-pairing if I ever had to restore from a backup image.
With the OS now in firmware on the Roamio models, does anyone know if the CableCARD pairing data are still on the HD? Or do they now store that in flash RAM or some such?
So interesting to see the Governor back and yet not the way he was.
It sort of makes more sense of what we were seeing before - I didn't realize the scene with the fire and the three tents and the walker was from...well...from last season end. Then he is left and just wanders.
The whole new dynamic of him and the three women that need him and especially him and what he is seeing Megan as his new Penny.
A big thumbs up for this one.
This auction is for a fully functioning TiVo Premiere Elite (4 Tuner) DVR with TiVo Lifetime Service. I am also including a fully functioning TiVo Stream.
The TiVo Premiere has a the manufacturer's warranty which is in force to 2/1/2015.
Any thoughts or fears of the Tivo Mini failing? We all know with TIVO units, the percentage is really small and it's usually fixable by swapping hard drives. But the Mini's longevity is unknown at this moment, and there is no hard drive. So failure would basically mean the end of it.
Also, does the Mini have basic functions without subscription? You know, just to make sure I don't get a lemon prior to slapping lifetime on it.
I have two XL4s, and sometimes I'll swear I recorded something on Tivo "A" only to find it has actually recorded on Tivo "B". This has taken me by surprise a few times and I think I've finally figured out the (or at least one) cause of it - I just can't decide if it's a feature or a bug. I don't think this is related to the recent update, it's been happening for a while.
- go to "My Shows" on Tivo A
- scroll to the bottom, press select to get to the NPL for Tivo B
- press "Guide"
- pick anything and press record (or Info)
- select "Season Pass & other options"
- note that it shows the name of Tivo B at the top, and indeed if you choose "Record this episode" it will be recorded on Tivo B
The main reason this seems like a bug is if you just select "Record this Episode" from the first screen after hitting record, it records on Tivo A, not B. There's also no indication that you're operating on Tivo B in the Guide - and in fact I'm 99% sure it's showing me the channel list on Tivo A (they're slightly out of sync).
There's also no apparent way to change the Tivo on the "Recording options" screen, so is there any other way to access this "feature"? I haven't tried it yet on my Minis but it would be handy there (since they are paired to B but I'd like to record on A).
This situation seems to persist until I go back to the Tivo menu, then it goes back to recording on Tivo A as expected.
Ever since we received the Fall 2013 update, we have been constantly been receiving C133 and C501 errors. Our premiere boxes are no longer able to access each other and we cannot even search for shows. We all have Tivo N Adapters and have never encountered this type of issue before. Any suggestions?
How will the Tivo Roamio and Xbox One work together? Would my Xbox one go in between my receiver and Tivo? Or would I plug the Xbox One directly into the receiver?
I hope they go well together.
I have the Roamio basic...no component connection, just HDMI. I have the audio hooked up to a receiver via optical. When I listen to the audio thru the receiver, there is a slight delay, causing the sound to be slightly out of sync with the pic. When I listen thru the TV (which I really don't want), it is OK. If I listen to both together, I can hear the slight delay which gives an echo effect. My HD is hooked up with component video and optical audio and I don't have this problem. Any one have a solution to this (other than to upgrade to Plus or Pro to get the component outputs)?
Received the latest TiVo update (for Virgin Media branded boxes) on Tuesday and since then I have had numerous problems. However, I believe I have found quite a serious bug.
I had a failed recording yesterday and I suspected that there may be a bug with back to back recordings when a service connection happens. I believe I have know confirmed this when today exactly the same thing happened.
Todays schedule (all on Sky Sports F1 so using a single tuner)
5:30 - 6:00 : Track Parade
6:00 - 9:15 : Race show
9:15 - 10:15 - Paddock Live
With the standard 1 hours padding (on a live event and 5 minutes pre-padding), this meant the following was actually planned:
5:25 - 7:00 : Track Parade
5:55 - 10:15 : Race show
9:10 - 11:15 - Paddock Live
Like yesterday I observed that at 9:33 a service connection was due which is between the overlap of the back to back recordings. When the F1 had finished at 10:15 (I was watching the Race Show recording from My Shows at the time) I noticed that the Paddock Live recording was not happening.
Checking My Shows and the Planned Recordings confirmed this. Like yesterday when you check the recording hiccups the reason listed against the Paddock Live failed recording was "Not Available - No Longer In Guide".
So I think this has pretty much confirmed their is quite a serious bug in that if you have a an overlapping back to back recording on the same channel then there is a chance that if there is a service connection during the overlap of the two recordings the second recording does not happen. It may not be the service connection that causes the issue but perhaps the part where it processes the latest guide data after it has downloaded that causes the problem.
As the main point of the box is to record programmes then a bug that stops it from doing this must surely be investigated and fixed ASAP as far as I am concerned.
Any TiVo representatives around to investigate and comment?
